Climate Bill Could Harm Manufacturing And Send Jobs Overseas, Says…..

The Environmental Protection Agency. The Same EPA who recently called CO2, a natural gas, a health risk, thereby helping to create the same situation they are now complaining about

According to an analysis of climate legislation performed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the cap-and-trade system favored by President Barack Obama and many congressional Democrats could potentially damage the U.S. manufacturing sector and force jobs to move overseas.

The policy, under certain scenarios, for example, “can cause domestic production … to shift abroad,” reads the EPA analysis, and result in greater greenhouse gas emissions in countries that do not have similar cap-and-trade rules.

Further, the EPA’s Apr. 20 preliminary analysis of the bill, sponsored by Reps. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) and Edward Markey (D-Mass.), shows that the plan would reduce U.S. manufacturing capacity 0.3 percent by 2020 and by nearly 1.5 percent by 2050.

Restrictive and punitive legislation has consequences. Personally, I doubt with Obama, Waxman, Markey, or the other Democrats who support this legislation give a rats patootie.

In other AGW news, looks like there is a conference going on in Paris. Hmm, ever notice that vacation spots are always picked for these conferences? Maybe they could pick someplace in the 3rd world instead, someplace where they can see with their own eyes what their destructive legislation can cause.

Six ways Americans view global warming. You know what these studies rarely ever touch on? People who believe we have warmed, but believe it is mostly, or all, natural.

To heck with actual data, let’s rely on computer models! Speaking of actual data, an interesting site to see actual temperature trends. Best usage is to click for monthly data. Pick a state, then a monitoring station. Scroll down to “Select a Temperature variable for plot of Mean Temperature vs year,” pick “mean temperature.” View. Check out Death Valley. Pretty much the same temp now as it was in 1911. And how about Tarboro, NC, which has measurements going back to 1871, and is a good example of an area not affected by the urban island effect?

  1. John Ryan says:

so Co2 is a “natural” gas. Teach can you give me some examples of “unnatural” gases ?
Teach instead of cherrpicking a few sites in the USA why not simply go to the NCDC (National Climate Data Center) and see what they say about global climate change ? After all YOU do use some of their data, why not use all of it ??
They believe that the global climate is getting warmer.
So far this year we are on track for having the 6th warmest year EVAH ! ! http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/research/2009/apr/apr09.html

  2. Jim Fister says:

“Just because it’s bad that we regulate it, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t regulate it.” – EPA

Not that I can necessarily source that specific quote, but I’m sure it’s a decent paraphrase.

  3. I’ve seen what they say, John, and they want to blame a natural process solely on mankind. Why not peruse the site I gave you, and check around the country? You claim I am cherry picking, yet, that is exactly what you folks on the left do. I gave you a website you could look at tons of data quickly and easily.

    It’s a good one, Jim.
