Capture Of KSM Slowed Al Qaeda

From WRAL

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's capture four years ago didn't shut down al-Qaida or bring the Americans to Osama bin Laden. But if his mega-confession is to be believed, his arrest was a crushing blow to bin Laden's plans for even more deadly attacks in the wake of 9/11.

His expertise was never replaced and his absence has contributed to the group's transition from a fear-inspiring attack force to a hate-filled voice on the Internet, urging others to wage terror against the West.

"In terms of competence for managing, planning and executing terrorist attacks, KSM was the best in al-Qaida," said Rohan Gunaratna, a terrorism expert and author of a book on al-Qaida. "That's why Osama bin Laden and other important al-Qaida leaders entrusted him with so many operations."

Now, as some lefties go on rants about it being no big deal and question the timing, as well as worrying about KSM's "rights," people in the know say "yes, this was a good thing." Yes, we want Osama caught. That would be a great victory in the GWoT, as well as a symbolic one, but getting one of Al Qaeda's true operational leaders has done more then capturing their figurehead in stopping attacks, particularly here in the U.S.A.

And, of course, the lefties continue with their pro-terrorist, terrorists aren't that bad, can't really believe what they say diatribes. The HuffPost seems to be in cahoots with Katherine Shrader of the AP in an article about KSM exagerating. Either that, or the HuffPost reprinted the entire article. Did they have permission?

Anyhow, isn't the whole point of the GWoT to eliminate organized terrorism against the USA? Yes, much of what KSM knows is outdated, but it served to stop many attacks, whether he exagerated (most likely) or not.

Meanwhile, two senators, on liberal and one might as well be (Yahoo News)

Two senators who watched Khalid Sheikh Mohammed confess to planning the Sept. 11 attacks and other plots said Friday that his allegations of mistreatment by U.S. captors should be taken seriously and investigated.

"To do otherwise would reflect poorly on our nation," Sens. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said in a joint statement.

I would expect this from a Dem. I would think a Republican might stand strong, but, I guess not. Which is one reason, along with spending like drunken sailors and being soft on illegal immigration, that the GOP is no longer in charge of Congress.

Seriously, who cares if he was roughed up a little bit and given some psychological messing with? Well, liberals, and weak kneeded Republicans like McCain and Graham. The better question is "why should we care?" The liberal answer of "because Bush is in charge, America is the root of all evil in the world, and we are just creating more terrorists so we should be nice to people who want to, and will, kill us" just doesn't cut it.

Hot Air also has a post on Daniel Pearl's father, who doubts whether KSM actually beheaded his son.
