Loons Gone Wild

The DU Demaloonies have gone insane(r) then normal over an article printed in the The Star, a Chicago paper. To start with, Michael Bowers, of the Star, wrote this:

I’ve been writing this column now for precisely two years. It happened rather by accident. In February 2003, I was angered by the frenzied, irrational opposition to a possible war in Iraq from those on the Angry Left.

I conceded there may have been no link between Saddam and 9-11. But I fumed when I heard them argue there was no link between Saddam and terror. And so I mentioned to my boss: You know, what if I wrote something about this for the op-ed page?

The boss said sure, give it a shot, and my first column appeared on March 2, 2003. I said today’s pacifists are still brainwashed by the lessons of Dr. Spock, who taught Baby Boomers in the 1960s that violence is never the answer. Kids bullied on the playground are not allowed to hit back. Likewise, when bullied, America is not allowed to hit back either.

I believe this kind of thinking is contemptible. I still do. It’s one of the main motivations of why I write.

Mr. Bowers goes on to compare the DU’ers to Nicholae Ceausescu, stating that the DU’ers "do not realize that repression in the Middle East is going the same way as communism in Europe" like how Ceausescu did not realize Communism was dead in Eastern Europe. There is no doubt that the only thing that the DU’ers get is that they must oppose Bush no matter what. They can only assign blame, but no credit, to Bush for anything. They say they support the troops, yet, because it "hurts Bush," they immediately assigned blame and ulterior and sinister motives by the Bush admin over the Sgrena mishap. In one of the few areas where the Left and Right tend to agree, if Bush were to lock down the borders, the Left would go nuts, despite repeatedly claiming this is what they want. Go figure.

The responses at the DU are typical. Here is the full thread (warning: takes a while to open.) Here is the short version.

Some quotes:

Viva_La_Revolution: "Dr. Spock, who taught Baby Boomers in the 1960s that violence is never the answer. Kids bullied on the playground are not allowed to hit back. Likewise, when bullied, America is not allowed to hit back either.

I believe this kind of thinking is contemptible."

So, If you’re on the playground, and some bully (Osama) walks up and smacks you, it would be perfectly reasonable (according to this knucklehead) to walk over to some innocent kid by the swingset (Saddam), smack him take all his lunch money, and claim that he was the one who told the bully to go after you in the first place.

Typical. Thinks Saddam was lilly white.

Harlequin: If "journalists" hadn’t been so open to RepubliCAN’T talking points, a knob like this guy wouldn’t be tolerated in the newsroom — subtle condesention doesn’t really make for delicious reading in a column. I can tell from the first graph that this dude has learned NOTHING in the "exact" two years of having written a column, other than, say, perhaps, how he likes to drink his coffee and what time he gets up to go to the bathroom, and swaps jokes at the water- cooler at the office.

He’s not a columnist. He’s a TYPIST for the neo-cons. At least the venerable tropical bird, the Parrot, has some kind of a sense of timing for its reactions. This dude makes the case for bloggers (hard to believe) unintentionally.

he’s everything that’s wrong with everything. CRAP!

Leading up to something

ClintonTyree: And HOW DARE he quote Frank Zappa to support this totally flawed assertion! Frank is quite possibly rolling in his grave at this very moment in reaction to the bush cabal’s destruction of our country. The economy, the environment, our safety as regards to terrorism and world opinion are ALL down the shitter because of bush’s STUPID policies.

Finally, the #1, both figuratively and literally, response:

imenja: 1."freedom of speech is so inconvenient isn’t it. he’ll just have to put up with it"

Freedom of Speech. Funny. This is something the DU does not practice. Phin noticed it.

I signed up and started posting. Shortly after my first couple of posts everybody started picking on me, calling me a conservative and breeder (I think they were trying to be mean). I tried to rationalize with them, but the Deamoncratic Underground Moderators (Another Link If I Were You) took away my posting privilages too. Then I found the DU’s rules for posting, no wonder they didn’t like anything I had to say and deleted all my comments.

I noticed it, too.

So, no Freedom of Speech if you aren’t a raging loonatic, eh? The hypocrites at their best.

  1. DC says:

    Teach,

The beauty of it all is … their philosophy (never hit back) demonstrably doesn’t work. We are winning as a result. We will continue to do so.

  2. And hopefully the Democratic party as it is will end up in the trash heap of history, to be replaced by something better, or, at the least, a return to the strong party it once was.
