CNBC Declares Texas Top State For Business 2012

Is anyone shocked in the least?

(CNBC) Texas has done it again.

The Lone Star State makes a triumphant return as America’s Top State for Business—its third time at the top of our rankings.

“Listen, there is a reason that Caterpillar moved their hydraulics manufacturing and their engine manufacturing to the state of Texas,” said Gov. Rick Perry in November during the CNBC Republican presidential debate.

We can attest to that.

In our sixth annual study, Texas racked up an impressive 1,604 points out of a possible 2,500, with top-10 finishes in six of our 10 categories of competitiveness. Texas has never finished below second place since we began the study in 2007.

They ranked all the states on multiple measurements, available for viewing at the story, and when it is all added up, you end up with

  1. Texas
  2. Utah
  3. Virginia
  4. North Dakota
  5. North Carolina

…as the top 5. Unsurprisingly, there’s not one true Democrat state in the Top 10. If you can believe it, California isn’t dead last: it’s #40. The state still has a few things going for it, and pending fiscal destruction wasn’t a part of the measurement. Rhode Island, a good Blue state, is #50.

Just goes to show that Conservative/Republican policies help create positive business environments.

Bummer: Karakoram Glaciers Not Cooperating With Globul Warming Models

Can’t wait to see how Warmists try and blame this on hotcoldwetdry

(Science Codex) Resting in the Karakoram Range between northern Pakistan and western China, the Karakoram glaciers are stumping climate scientists and Associated Press journalists declaring a localized heat wave is proof of global warming.

Unlike many mountain glaciers, the Karakoram glaciers, which account for 3 percent of the total ice-covered area in the world outside Greenland and Antarctica, are not shrinking.

On the contrary, a team of French glaciologists has recently confirmed that these glaciers on average have remained stable and may have even grown slightly in recent years.

This comes from Earthmagazine, where the study authors stated that this needs more study to understand why this huge glacier area is bucking the trend. You know that if it was melting we’d be told that this is proof that Aunt Peg driving her big Barracuda with the Hemi is killing the planet.

Hotcoldwetdry Could Be Bad For Baseball

Just in time for the All-Star game we get this bit of climahysteria (via Tom Nelson)

Tomorrow’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game may provide some needed distraction for many fans across the country affected by the wildfires, heat, flooding and weather-related outages that have characterized the last couple of weeks.

But could America’s pastime also be feeling the effects of a changing climate that makes inclement weather more common? And what might baseball do to respond to those changes?

Amanda Staudt, a senior scientist at the National Wildlife Federation, said baseball could feel the effects of climate change in “ways large and small.”

“It’s possible a stadium could sustain significant damage from rising waters or from a major storm,” she said.

More mundane effects of warming could also create a nuisance. Warmer winters have been linked to out-of-control insect populations, and some of those pests have occasionally had the itch to see a baseball game.

In May, a swarm of bees briefly interrupted an Arizona-Colorado game in Denver. Flying ants, bees and other unwelcome visitors have attended games in Cleveland, Detroit and elsewhere, in some cases disrupting the action and affecting the score.

Because bugs and critters never show up at a place that is a den of food and beer dropped on the ground. And, let’s not forget that weather never happened before hotcoldwetdry.

Hmm: 83% Of Doctors Have Considered Quitting Thanks To Obamacare

The obvious solution is to mandate that doctors keep working under Comrade Obama

(The Daily Caller) Eighty-three percent of American physicians have considered leaving their practices over President Barack Obama’s health care reform law, according to a survey released by the Doctor Patient Medical Association.

The DPMA, a non-partisan association of doctors and patients, surveyed a random selection of 699 doctors nationwide. The survey found that the majority have thought about bailing out of their careers over the legislation, which was upheld last month by the Supreme Court.

Even if doctors do not quit their jobs over the ruling, America will face a shortage of at least 90,000 doctors by 2020. The new health care law increases demand for physicians by expanding insurance coverage. This change will exacerbate the current shortage as more Americans live past 65.

Well, O-care will simply deem that people are doctors. If we just gave more money to Obama donors those medical jobs would magically appear. Obviously, though, these darned doctors who get themselves in enormous debt to earn their licenses are big meanies who are refusing to do their part for The State.

The DPMA found that many doctors do not believe the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will lead to better access to medical care for the majority of Americans, co-founder of the DPMA Kathryn Serkes told TheDC.

“Doctors clearly understand what Washington does not — that a piece of paper that says you are ‘covered’ by insurance or ‘enrolled’ in Medicare or Medicaid does not translate to actual medical care when doctors can’t afford to see patients at the lowball payments, and patients have to jump through government and insurance company bureaucratic hoops,” she said.

Doctors are already refusing to take more Medicare and Medicaid patients. Even before O-care this was happening, thanks to the red tape, idiotic paperwork, low reimbursement costs and slow reimbursement times. It isn’t going to get better, especially when the “death panels”, ie, the Independent Payment Advisory Board, starts telling doctors how to treat their patients.

No one should be shocked that doctors weren’t consulted as to the effects of O-care.

Team Obama Admits It’s Campaign Will Be Mostly Negative

But, then, what else does Obama have to run on? A failed economic stimulus plan that wasted a billion dollars? A highly unpopular healthcare bill? The Lilly Ledbetter Act, which was so wonderful that the Democrats tried to pass legislation that did the same thing again this year? Drone strikes that make his base insane(r)? Raising taxes? What?

(ABC News) Both candidates say this election is about the economy. But the Obama campaign has done its best to make everything about Mitt Romney. Mitt Romney’s Swiss bank accounts. His vast wealth. His vacations.

Ann Romney said the Obama campaign is trying to “kill” her husband.

Here’s how President Obama put it during a campaign speech on Friday in Ohio, the same day a government jobs report showed little growth and an unchanged unemployment rate:

“Mr. Romney’s experience — because he always says, ‘I’ve got a lot of business experience; I know how to create jobs,’ — well, look, his company that he started were called the pioneers of business outsourcing. The pioneers of outsourcing. So that’s his experience.”

Obama’s campaign speech was a model for what has become his strategy: talk about the economy only when necessary, and spend as much time as possible chipping away at Romney’s secretive and corporate background.

All his peeps have taken the same track, going after Romney on a personal level, despite those attacks having been proven completely false. Obama has to attempt to shift the message, because his time in office has been one where he has presided over some of the worst economic conditions in the United States ever. And it’s not getting better. Obama has done such a wonderful job that many Democrats have publicly announced that they won’t be attending the DNC in September.

As for the attacks on Romney, does Team Obama have any evidence? If they did, they’d trot it out.

Warmists Concerned With How To Communicate A Dying Cult

Warmist Adam Corner is quite concerned just how to communicate to people who really aren’t that concerned with the dying cult of Gore. I have a great idea, but, we’ll get to that (I bet you can guess what I’ll offer)

(Guardian) As the dust settles on another disappointing international sustainability summit, many who work on the myriad of issues around climate change and sustainable development are taking stock. And for those who are involved in promoting public engagement with climate change, it is difficult to avoid the conclusion that times are tough.

The enthusiastic, hopeful – almost urgent – buzz of public awareness and expectation that existed five years ago has long since transformed into a low, background hum. There has been no weakening of the scientific evidence that climate change – attributable to human activity – poses a range of serious risks. But there has been some weakening of the social consensus that is essential for meaningful action to minimise these risks. While claims of a collapse in public opinion are exaggerated, there is no denying that scepticism about the nature and seriousness of climate change has increased – rather than decreased – in recent years.

Where public opinion about climate change could once be characterised as a state of mild concern, it has now become an amiable – or even disinterested – shrug. The more sophisticated analyses of trends in public opinion point to a clear link between the priority with which politicians and the media have treated climate change (linked to the economic crisis), and the weight it is assigned by members of the public. The issue has moved from centre stage to somewhere barely visible in the wings. Is it any surprise people have stopped paying attention?

And the solutions offered by Corner? The same old mule fritters about about spreading awareness, indoctrination, whining about Conservatives not buying into the Warmists malarkey (we know that it isn’t about science, but about increasing taxation and governmental control).

Without a focus on better communication, the danger is that the gap between the scientific and the social consensus on climate change will continue to grow.

How about, instead, Warmists actually practice science? They should release the raw data and show how they came to their conclusions so that others can attempt to replicate the so-called climate science. That is the way science works. Oh, and if they really believe, Warmists should practice what they preach. Show us the way.

Save Money On Chevy Volt, Take Fossil Fueled Flight To Hawaii

Tom Nelson picks up this but of climahypocrisy from a Volt owner

Another of our newest Chevrolet Volt commercials now airing on TV features Elissa. She’s TOTALLY in love with her Volt and plans to use her fuel savings to go to Hawaii.

A round trip to Hawaii from Detroit (the commercial says she is from Westland, Mi) puts out 1.25 metric tons of CO2. This doesn’t include the travel to the airport, housing in Hawaii, a rental car, etc. The average CO2 output world wide is 4 metric tons, and the target is 2 metric tons to stop the planet from burning up or something. Climahypocrite.

I wonder what the carbon footprint of a Volt that catches on fire is?

Hill Poll: Most Feel Obama Has Changed The Country For The Worse

I’m shocked, shocked I tell you, that most think Obama is ruining the country. And I bet some people are surprised by this poll. They might have listened when Obama said that he wanted to “fundamentally transform America” during his hopey changey run for the White House. And they might have paid attention to his background, policy offerings, and political experience

(The Hill) Two-thirds of likely voters say President Obama has kept his 2008 campaign promise to change America — but it’s changed for the worse, according to a sizable majority.

A new poll for The Hill found 56 percent of likely voters believe Obama’s first term has transformed the nation in a negative way, compared to 35 percent who believe the country has changed for the better under his leadership.

The results signal broad voter unease with the direction the nation has taken under Obama’s leadership and present a major challenge for the incumbent Democrat as he seeks reelection this fall.

Amazingly, 92% of Blacks feel that the country has changed for the better, which is strange considering the unemployment rate for Blacks is 14.4%.

59% of men and 56% of women say that Obama has made America worse thanks to Obama. It’s 55% for the 18-39 bracket.

Independent of voter opinions about how the country has changed, The Hill Poll found an overwhelming majority of voters — 89 percent — view the choice between Obama and Romney as important in terms of the future impact on the country.

The poll doesn’t ask why, but, considering that 56% think Obama has changed America for the worse, we can figure out why.
