What Say To Muslim Extremists Praying At The DNC?

No one should be particularly surprised. Democrats constantly yammer on about “diversity”, yet they never seem to actually investigate what diversity they are supporting. These are also people who support Palestinian homicide bombers, wanted America to fail in Iraq and Afghanistan (partly because Bush was president), and many thought Osama Bin Laden was assassinated and should have been given a trial. They also believe in the mythical “separation of church and state”, but only when it is the Christian religions being separated

(The Blaze) The Democratic National Committee is raising a number of eyebrows after choosing to proceed with hosting Islamic “Jumah” prayers for two hours on the Friday of its convention, though it denied a Catholic cardinal’s request to say a prayer at the same event.

Watch the promotional video, via the Bureau of Muslim Affairs, which is partnering with the DNC for the event.

Up to 20,000 people are expected to attend the Friday prayers and Jibril Hough, a spokesman for the Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs (BIMA), said the purpose of the event is to hold political parties accountable for the issues faced by Muslim-Americans.

In particular, the event will target the Patriot Act, the NYPD, the National Defense Authorization Act, and anti-Shariah sentiment.

Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, a devout Muslim and the Founder and President of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, wrote:

The leaders of this event – Jibril Hough and Imam Siraj Wahhaj [are not] moderates. They are radicals. These individuals embrace Islamist supremacy and have demonstrated support for radical ideologies. (snip)

Their jummah (group) prayer is…about empowering their Islamist and MB sympathetic groups into the very fabric of the political system so that Americans become anesthetized. We need American Muslims to speak up and marginalize these radicals. The DNC needs to understand and reject them because of their radical history and ideas.

The mosque of Jibril Hough, mentioned by Dr. Jasser, is owned by the North American Islamic Trust, which was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial as one of the entities “who are and/or were members of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood.”

Siraj Wahhaj, the Grand Imam of the Jumah, has links to the Blind Sheikh (still incarcerated right up the road from Raleigh, my home town, on terrorism charges) and has written about getting Muslims involved heavily in politics to turn America into a caliphate and replacing the Constitution with the Koran.

So, we’re going to hear about the mean anti-Sharia sentiment by people who want to ……. push America towards Sharia law. And have deep links to Islamic extremist groups, ones that have links to terrorism.

The article references a Robert Spencer article on this issue at Front Page. Since gay marriage is also a big platform at the DNC, perhaps Democrats should read this article about homosexuality in Islam.

Happy 2500 Days: Obama Plans To Campaign As Potential Hurricane Isaac Hits

Over the past few days we’ve been treated to a constant litany of news that wonders if it is proper for the GOP to hold their convention at all, much less toning it down, as Isaac has been churning in the Gulf of Mexico. This notion ramped up when it looked like Isaac was going to take direct aim at the area hit by Hurricane Katrina, and even more so as Isaac takes aim at New Orleans. But, what of Obama?

(CNS News) The White House announced on Monday that President Barack Obama plans to campaign in Charlottesville, Va., on Wednesday–the day the National Hurricane Center predicts Hurricane Isaac will hit the Gulf Coast.

Wednesday, Aug. 29, is also the seventh anniversary of the day that Hurricane Katrina made landfall on the Gulf Coast in 2005.

Obama will also be “in Ames, Iowa and Fort Collins, Colorado for campaign events. The President will remain overnight in Colorado.” Obviously, according to Katrina talking points, this means Obama hates Black people. And doesn’t care about the people of New Orleans. Heck, he won’t even be close to New Orleans.

I wonder if the media will call out Obama for failing to cancel his fundraisers?

According to the center, Tropical Storm Isaac is predicted to become a Category One Hurricane by Monday night and will make landfall along the Louisiana and Mississippi coastline late Tuesday or early Wednesday.

According to the center, Isaac will have maximum sustained winds of 70 miles per hour with storm surges up to 12 feet.

Does anyone get the feeling that the National Hurricane Center, a part of the NOAA, is really, really, really, really hoping Isaac becomes a hurricane? So far, the wind projects haven’t come to fruition. And, if they’re predicting sustained 70 mph winds, well, not a hurricane. Also, that the media really, really, really wants Isaac to become a hurricane.

Tomorrow is the anniversary of Katrina. Today is the 2,500th day (not including today) since a major hurricane, category 3 or higher, hit the United States, the longest period on record. In 2005, Hurricane Wilma made landfall in Florida on October 24th. Remember this?

Warmists told us that because of anthropogenic global warming, every hurricane season would be like that big season of 2005. Yet, landfalling hurricane numbers immediately dropped. So they started proclaiming that the number of hurricanes would be down, but they would be stronger. Nope, that didn’t work out, either. The last hurricane to hit the US was Ike on September 13, 2008.

Hurricanes, much like other natural disasters, are fascinating to watch, but really bad for the people in the way. Even tropical storms can be really devastating (as we saw with Irene last year, for instance). If fewer tropical systems hitting the United States and causing massive damage and loss of life, well, then AGW rocks! Let’s keep it.

Fish Wrap Pushes Carbon Tax

I always find it amusing that Leftists, who are primarily the people pushing the climate change hoax, tend to always think that taxes are the solution. In this case, the NY Times pushes a carbon tax, rather than suggesting that all Warmists should practice what they preach. Warmists do not want to have their own lives affected. After a lot of fluff and silliness we get

According to the respected M.I.T. global climate simulation model, there is a 10 percent chance that average surface temperatures will rise by more than 12 degrees Fahrenheit by 2100. Warming on that scale could end life as we know it. Smaller increases would be less catastrophic, but even the most optimistic projections imply enormous costs.

More prognostication from hysterics, despite the temperatures being statistically insignificant over the past 15 years even though CO2 levels have risen.

The good news is that we could insulate ourselves from catastrophic risk at relatively modest cost by enacting a steep carbon tax. Early studies by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change estimated that a carbon tax of up to $80 per metric ton of emissions — a tax that might raise gasoline prices by 70 cents a gallon — would eventually result in climate stability. But because recent estimates about global warming have become more pessimistic, stabilization may require a much higher tax. How hard would it be to live with a tax of, say, $300 a ton?

If such a tax were phased in, the prices of goods would rise gradually in proportion to the amount of carbon dioxide their production or use entailed. The price of gasoline, for example, would slowly rise by somewhat less than $3 a gallon. Motorists in many countries already pay that much more than Americans do, and they seem to have adapted by driving substantially more efficient vehicles.

A carbon tax would also serve two other goals. First, it would help balance future budgets. Tens of millions of Americans are set to retire in the next decades, and, as a result, many budget experts agree that federal budgets simply can’t be balanced with spending cuts alone. We’ll also need substantial additional revenue, most of which could be generated by a carbon tax.

A second benefit would occur if a carbon tax were approved today but phased in gradually, only after the economy had returned to full employment. High unemployment persists in part because businesses, sitting on mountains of cash, aren’t investing it because their current capacity already lets them produce more than people want to buy. News that a carbon tax was coming would create a stampede to develop energy-saving technologies. Hundreds of billions of dollars of private investment might be unleashed without adding a cent to the budget deficit.

So, raise taxes for a fictional issue which will accomplish nothing but causing prices across the board to rise, but “could” balance the budget and might help with “green” energy. Interestingly, the rest of the article also fails to mention how this would stop the temperature rise and “extreme” weather. Wouldn’t that be the point of a carbon tax? All the Times’ is doing is finding a way to directly move more money from the private sector to the public sector.

Does Mann Really Want All His Documents On Trial?

An interesting question posed by the NY Times. We’ll skip the part in how the threatened lawsuit by Michael Mann would somehow be like the Scopes evolution trial

Certainly, the idea of a courtroom review of the foundations of climate science —and of its professional standards and ethics —had immediate appeal when Dr. Mann announced his intention on his Facebook page.

But after months of legal wrangling to keep Virginia’s attorney general, Ken Cuccinelli, from digging into his e-mails from his days at the University of Virginia, does Dr. Mann, now with Penn State, really want to open up his files to discovery motions from lawyers representing the National Review? What, then, was the point of beating back all those Freedom of Information Act requests?

What’s being referenced is Mann threatening to sue Rich Lowery and National Review for calling Mann’s hockey stick fraudulent. Lowry told Mann to “bring it on.”

Let’s face it, at the end of the day Mann will not sue. First of all, every time a globull warming suit has gone to court the Warmists have lost, in large part because they can’t prove their evidence. Mann will not want to go to court because he will be required to expose his raw data and methods, especially since they have been paid for primarily with taxpayer funds. He’d have to take the stand and be grilled. He does not want that in the least.

RNC Protester Arrested With Machete

The crazies are already being arrested with all sorts of weapons and anarchist apparel

(Bay News) A Republican National Convention protestor was arrested while he allegedly carried a machete strapped to his leg, according to deputies.

According to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s officials, Jason T. Wilson, of Tallahassee, was arrested as he walked in the RNC Event Zone carrying a “full size” machete.

When deputies approached Wilson, they said he continued to walk away despite orders to stop.

“When deputies caught up to Wilson, he advised he did not have to stop and that he was allowed to carry whatever he wanted,” HCSO spokesperson Larry McKinnon said.

When deputies attempted to physically stop him, Wilson allegedly began resisting arrest and was physically restrained.

Wilson was arrested and taken to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on charges of prohibited items in event zone and resisting arrest with violence.

Would you be surprised that Wilson was walking with a group of Occupiers? Or that he has a history of fighting with the police? And, via The Other McCain, we also learn

Two suspected protesters were arrested after they were found playing with a BB gun atop a downtown parking garage, authorities said. (snip)

They also found several items indicating the people were protesters, including antigovernment T-shirts and a backpack stuffed with a large machete, a pocketknife, tin snips and a pry tool, Puetz said.

The backpack belonged to Trevor Swanson, 19, of St. Petersburg, who is prohibited from having weapons because of a domestic violence injunction.

Hmm, aren’t all guns bad in Liberal World? And what’s with a second Occupier having a machete? Expect the real violence to start late today. Most of the Occupiers are too stupid to understand that the RNC is now starting Tuesday.

Romney To Politico: Do You Want Personal Appeal Or Confidence?

Romney makes the point many times during his interview with Politico that he isn’t running for president be a rock star, a celebrity, Mr. Cool, Mr. Party, he’s running to provide the United States with excellent leadership and high quality management skills, to Get Things Done

Mitt Romney conceded President Barack Obama has succeeded in making him a less likable person, but he offered a defiant retort to those hoping he will open up this week: “I am who I am.”

Romney quoted that Popeye line three times in a 30-minute interview with POLITICO about his leadership style and philosophy, swatting away advice from Republicans to focus on connecting with voters in a more emotional, human way at this convention. Instead, he vowed to keep his emphasis — in the campaign and any administration to follow — on a relentlessly goal-driven, business-minded approach that has shaped his life so far.

“I know there are some people who do a very good job acting and pretend they’re something they’re not,” Romney said. “You get what you see. I am who I am.”

“I don’t think everybody likes me,” Romney said. “I don’t believe that, by any means. But I do believe that people of this country are looking for someone who can get the country growing again with more jobs and more take-home pay, and I think they realize this president had four years to do that. … He got every piece of legislation he wanted passed, and it didn’t work. I think they want someone who has a different record, and I do.”

That’s a nice little dig at Obama, who did a great job at pretending during the 2008 election season, and look at what America is facing now. Things are not good.

His language, his approach, his mannerisms convey: I am not asking you to trust me to see into your soul, or to feel your pain, or bring you hope and fuzzy change. I will bring you concrete, measurable, profitable change — the kind you can authentically take stock of, and even measure in your family’s bank account.

At your job, are you more concerned about your boss being (or if you’re the boss) being touchy feely or about them being able to get the job done so that you can succeed? Do you care more about your boss’ big party and which celebs he/she hung out with or whether he/she has a reality based plan that will address issues your business faces?

He would take a hands-on, CEO approach to the job. “I likewise do not like having a solution presented to me for approval. Instead, I’d much rather dig into the issue myself and hear alternative viewpoints on the issue and be able to reach a decision.” This sounds very similar to Obama’s decision-making preference — and one that White House veterans say is virtually impossible to implement because of the dizzying number of decisions a president makes each day.

Whew! That’s some interesting spin, as Obama’s preference is more about saying here’s my way, get someone else to handle it. There’s little evidence that he ever listens to the other side. Delegation denotes inspecting what you expect. Obama doesn’t seem to really care about outcomes. As for being “virtually impossible”, well, yeah, when one is playing tons of golf, hanging with celebs, partying, and constantly campaigning, it’s difficult to address all those decisions. Can you see a President Romney doing all that? I can’t. Could you see him failing to meet with his economics council and advisers for most of the year? I’d imagine that when you look at a Romney presidential schedule, it will will be full all day long, just like when he was busy running a successful business and the Olympics.

Do you want touchy feely pandering or competence and a strong work ethic? Someone who delivers soaring rhetoric or someone who delivers results that help? Those are your choices.

Grist: What Other Cities Can Learn From Seattle’s Green Fail

One of the main problems I have with terming things “green” is that it is no longer about the environment, but about reducing CO2, ie, the carbon footprint. That, and that the Warmists go way, way, way overboard. Here’s Grist

In 2009, Seattle set out to to create the next generation of cutting-edge green buildings and inspire other forward-thinking cities to follow suit. Three years later, only one of these space-age structures is under construction, with just two more in the planning stages. What happened to the Emerald City’s “deep green” dreams?

Under the Living Building Challenge Pilot Program, which went into effect in 2010, the city offered special incentives to the first 12 developers who managed to meet at least 60 percent of the requirements of the Living Building Challenge, a program that leaves the LEED green building standards in the dust.

Can you guess how many took the challenge? Three. Why? The explanation by Grist (other than a real estate market in the toilet) are

  • Green buildings freak out the code cops. (hmm, government getting in the way? Shocker!)
  • Bankers don’t know what to make of this stuff, either. (no, they do know, and understand that these projects are Bad Investments and Stupid Loans)
  • Green building is expensive. (well, yeah. And lots of “green” ideas fail spectacularly, like $25k “composting” toilets )
  • NIMBYism reigns. (that’s weird. Uber-leftist Seattle doesn’t want this crap in their own area)
  • To make a “deep green” building work, you actually have to change people’s behavior. (that’s weird. Uber-leftist Seattle citizens don’t have the right behavior, and don’t want to change. Well, why would they, when most Warmists who push globull warming refuse to change their own behavior?)

And there you have it. So, what’s Seattle to do? Well, extend the program for 3 years, rubbing the flanks of unicorns in a vein hope that more will jump in. But, hey, not everyone wants to bike to work, have few parking spaces, only use water from the sky, and all the other measures that make business more like the 15th century. They do not want to use composting toilets, which are stinky.

I do find it rather hilarious that government itself is getting in the way with regulations, despite liberals telling us that regulations are mega-awesome.
