Kansas Proposes Bill Requiring That Both Sides Of Climate Change Debate Be Taught

Obviously, this drives the open-minded Left bat guano insane

(Topeka Capital-Journal) With the Kansas State Board of Education preparing to vote on new science standards this year, the House Education Committee has introduced a bill asking schools to include evidence against climate change in science classes.

House Bill 2306, introduced last week, says science classes must “provide information to students of scientific evidence which both supports and counters a scientific theory or hypothesis.”

The bill says instruction about “scientific controversies” should be objective and include “both the strengths and weaknesses of such scientific theory or hypothesis.” The only controversy identified in the bill is “climate science.”

Imagine that students are provided with all the different opinions and scientific information and are allowed to make up their own minds as to what caused this current warm period. The horror!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it’s horror to Think Progress, which wants no part in providing all the facts and relevant information to anyone, lest people realize that the current warm period is primarily natural. Don’t want people knowing that the global temps have been essentially flatlined for the past 16 years, and have risen only .28F since 1990.

The Immigration System Is Not Broken: It’s Government That’s Broken

One of the things that drives me crazy during these debates about illegal immigration is people running around say that “the immigration system is broken”. Why are they saying this? Because they want to legalize illegal aliens. This is a bipartisan problem: it’s not just Democrats like Obama, Pelosi, Reid, La Raza, Media Matters, and so many others who say it and want it. There are Republicans like Lindsay Graham, John McCain, Jeff Flake, Marco Rubio, and George Bush….yes, Bush. The last time amnesty was being pushed I had photoshops such as

and others, having also feature Bush in my old Surrender Monkey Friday posts regarding amnesty multiple times.

These same people love to claim that the immigration system is broken. It’s not. It’s cumbersome, burdensome, and/or costly for those who want to come to this country legally and either be citizens, work towards citizenship, or simply work.

What’s broken is Government. It’s the elected official (ie, servants of the People), appointed officials, and civil servants (ie, government employees) who are the problem. It’s how they respond to illegal aliens that’s broken. Not all, mind you, but enough. Plus all the citizens and groups who want to legalize and/or ignore the problem of illegal immigration. The law is quite specific: illegals are breaking federal law:

Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, “Improper Entry by Alien,” any citizen of any country other than the United States who:

  • Enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or
  • Eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or
  • Attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact;

has committed a federal crime.

Violations are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment for up to six months. Repeat offenses can bring up to two years in prison. Additional civil fines may be imposed at the discretion of immigration judges, but civil fines do not negate the criminal sanctions or nature of the offense.

What is not understood by the Political Class? They are the ones who are broken by failing to uphold the law. Elected officials, political appointees, and many civil servants, particularly those in law enforcement and the criminal justice system, take oaths to uphold the law and the Constitution. Government employees who do not take oaths still have “codes of conduct” and rules to follow The Law. Yet, we have places like sanctuary cities. We have law enforcement told to ignore people who are illegals. We have catch and release when it comes to illegals. We spend months, if not years, adjudicating the disposition of caught illegals before maybe, possibly deporting them.

The system is not broken. The system is about legal immigration. That system is mostly OK. The closest it comes to being broken is for people who fail leave when their visas expire. That’s right, approximately one third of all illegals are people who overstayed their visas, and are still living in the USA, using our services, draining our cash. Not every illegal comes across the border from Canada and Mexico or on a boat or plane.

And these people are breaking federal law every day they are here. It is not a victimless crime. They are a vast drain on public funds. They take jobs away from American citizens. They cause our emergency rooms to close. They waste the time of law enforcement. They fill our jails, particularly since some illegals are not “good people just looking for a better life.” They cause a depression in wages.

And the political class fails us. Instead of pushing for legalizing them, we should be looking for ways to push them out the door and make sure that they, and others, do not come back. We should be securing the border and slapping companies that knowingly hire them or failing to properly perform background checks with massive fines along with civil and criminal penalties that would discourage hiring illegals. We should refuse to provide illegals with any government funded services. And we should force our Government to uphold existing law.

In fact, it could be argued that providing illegals with a pathway to citizenship breaks the Constitutional provision against passing ex post facto laws (Article I, Section 9, Clause 3). States are also restricted from passing ex post facto laws. EPF is not just about making something that was legal illegal in retrospect: it is also about making what was illegal now legal, depending on the circumstances. Congress could certainly pass a law saying “if you enter the US after the date this law is passed, you can no longer be considered illegal”, but, for those who are already here illegal, you can’t say that they are now legal.

Increase the available slots for temporary and migrant workers. Make the companies that hire them responsible for providing health insurance (formatted to cover potential issues in that industry), and they do not get to use public services. Implant subcutaneous tracking devices in all here on temporary work visas.

Children of illegals? Sorry, mom and dad are getting deported. If you want to go with them, great. They’re going. Period. They want to stay? OK. They are Constitutional US citizens. But the parents can’t stay. Phones and email are great. Try Skype. Harsh? Well, the law can be harsh. No one complains about children being separated from their parents when the parents are sent to the Big House. Perhaps illegal aliens should have considered the consequences of their actions beforehand.

Illegals get caught? They immediately see a judge (there are a very small number who would be approved to stay for a few reasons) and are put on a bus or plane out of the country. If they have a bank account, the money will be seized to pay for the transportation costs.

The political class that supports amnesty is turning this country into a nation of Men, instead of a nation of law. They are the ones who are broken.

Rand Paul Slaps Obama For Sequester “Histrionics”

One of the big problems with the GOP over the past 10 years, and especially since Obama assumed his throne, is that they have attempted to be the Adult In The Room. The responsible party. The ones who speak in a quiet manner, which refuses to get down in the mud with Obama and the Democrats. They rarely respond to the nastiness in kind, forgetting that politics is a nasty business. But, here’s Rand Paul taking a shot, which will hopefully lead other Republicans to take shots

(Politico) Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is charging that President Barack Obama is full of “histrionics” about what will happen if the sequester kicks in.

“I think the sequester happens and it will be in some ways a yawn because the histrionics that are coming from the president saying, ‘Oh, we’re going to shut down and get rid of meat inspectors’ — I mean, is anybody not going to stand up and call his bluff on that ridiculousness?” Paul said on CNN on Tuesday night.

He also makes sure to point out that the Sequester was Obama’s idea, Obama signed it into law, and that it is a pittance, not actually being true cuts but a minor slowdown in the rate of growth over 10 years. Paul did not vote for it.

Over at the Wall Street Journal, Speaker of the House John Boehner (supposedly an R) explains how we got to the Sequester, which was primarily due to Obama scuttling two different budget plans at the last minute through typical Obama demands and histrionics.

So, as the president’s outrage about the sequester grows in coming days, Republicans have a simple response: Mr. President, we agree that your sequester is bad policy. What spending are you willing to cut to replace it?

He’s not willing to cut any. Surprisingly, as a Democrat, Obama isn’t even willing to cut the military budget (that surely creates a few conspiracy theories, eh?). He’s also not willing to put forth a plan that could pass Congress. His allies in the Senate have refused to vote on those plans. All he wants is more money to spend.

Gun Control Groups Want To Fundraise On Backs Of Victims

Never let a good crisis go to waste

(CNN) Now more than ever, we need to provide support for the advocacy organizations that are working to establish a formidable counterweight to the gun lobby, which is well financed, well organized and will stop at nothing to protect the interests of the firearms industry and obstruct sensible legislation that will help save lives.

Groups like the Fund for a Safer Future and Mayors Against Illegal Guns — spearheaded by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg –have been leading the charge in Washington for meaningful reform. It is incumbent upon all of us in the philanthropic community and the people served by these programs to stand firmly behind them during this critical time.

There’s lots more in the opinion piece, and what it all boils down to is what the headline at CNN says: “write a check”. I’d suggest that instead of giving money to these groups that lefties agitate for disarming the security at government offices and government officials, like Nanny Bloomberg, because if we can save just one life……hey, the writer is yammering on about a right to safety. I don’t feel safe that Bloomberg has armed people around him.

Warmist Mike Rivage-Seul: Hey, That Stranded Cruise Ship Reminds Me Of Climate Change

Yeah, starting out that way. First Rivage-Seul discusses all sorts of societal breakdowns during the 20th Century, then (via Tom Nelson)

(Kentucky.com) I was reminded of Lambert’s essay last week as I watched unfold the plight of the more than 4,000 passengers on the cruise ship, ironically named Triumph, and floundering precisely at the time of pre-Lenten Carnival.

An engine fire had caused the ship’s systems to shut down, and travelers were left without power.

As a result, everyone on the Triumph sweltered in their rooms as people were virtually forced to live on deck. Food became scarce. People started hoarding, looting and going off on each other over trivial matters.

Perhaps worst of all, toilets stopped functioning. And passengers were reduced to urinating in showers and defecating in plastic bags which they then handed over to crew members for sequestration and disposal once the liner reached shore. “It was the most embarrassing thing I’ve had to do in my life,” one woman passenger complained.

The fate of the Triumph seemed as eerily prophetic of the 21st century as the Titanic’s did of the 20th. This time we can see what’s coming — not icebergs, but a complete breakdown of systems — providing food, shelter, law and order.

I’m referring, of course, to the effects of climate change and the massive disruptions that promise to shut down entire eco-systems. Except to the willfully blind, the signs of approaching disaster are unmistakable — unprecedented drought, flooding, super-storms, earthquakes and tsunamis.

Climate Astrology: Global Warming Means More Blizzards

The Associated Press’ biggest globull warming cheerleader, Seth Borenstein, is back with more climastrology

(WRAL) With scant snowfall and barren ski slopes in parts of the Midwest and Northeast the past couple of years, some scientists have pointed to global warming as the culprit.

Then, when a whopper of a blizzard smacked the Northeast with more than 2 feet of snow in some places earlier this month, some of the same people again blamed global warming.

How can that be? It’s been a joke among skeptics, pointing to what seems to be a brazen contradiction.

But the answer lies in atmospheric physics. A warmer atmosphere can hold, and dump, more moisture, snow experts say. And two soon-to-be-published studies demonstrate how there can be more giant blizzards yet less snow overall each year. Projections are that that’s likely to continue with manmade global warming.

So, are we to assume that the last glacial period was caused by too much warmth? Did glaciers cover what has become New York City while it was warm? Were the Great Lakes created because of runaway greenhouse gas output to fuel the vehicles of Wooly Mammoths?

Does warmer air hold more moisture than cold air? Yes. But, in a truly heavily warming world what we would see would be warm fronts hit slightly less warm fronts, creating rain, not snow. And let’s consider that many snow events feature cold air with moisture coming down from Alaska and Canada. Furthermore, none of these snow storms are proof of anthropogenic global warming (nor do they prove a coming cool period). All they prove is that weather happens. The global climate did warm a whopping 1.5F since the end of the Little Ice Age, which is expected during climate flips during this inter-glacial period, though, actually less an increase than during previous warm Holocene warm periods.

“Shorter snow season, less snow overall, but the occasional knockout punch,” Princeton University climate scientist Michael Oppenheimer said. “That’s the new world we live in.”

The rest of the article runs this way, with Warmists attempting to defend their cult. As Marc Morano writes

‘No matter what the weather is like, it always turns out to be exactly the kind of weather we should expect if human activity were causing global temps to rise’

I suspect we can expect them to say that every snow storm from now on will be considered a blizzard in order to defend their unhinged and unscientific pseudo-religion

Newtown Shooter Picked School As It Was The “Easiest Target”

Who would have thought an area in which no one was left with the ability to defend themselves and others, known as a “gun free zone”, would make an easy target?

(CBS News) Law enforcement sources say Adam Lanza was motivated by violent video games and a strong desire to kill more people than another infamous mass murderer.

Sources say Lanza saw himself as being in direct competition with Anders Breivik, a Norwegian man who killed 77 people in July 2011.

Two officials who have been briefed on the Newtown, Conn., investigation say Lanza wanted to top Breivik’s death toll and targeted nearby Sandy Hook Elementary School because it was the “easiest target” with the “largest cluster of people.”

Evidence shows that his mind, sources say, Lanza was also likely acting out the fantasies of a video game as he killed 20 first graders and six adults at the school. For Lanza, the deaths apparently amounted to some kind of “score.”

He spent lots and lots and lots of time playing violent video games in a blacked out gaming area in the basement of his mother’s house. Of course, the ultimate blame lies with Lanza, not the makers of the games, though one has to wonder if Obama and Democrats will now call for some regulation of the industry.

Let’s take this with a grain of salt, since the report is not complete (as Lt. J. Paul Vance of the Connecticut State Police tells CBS after their report) and CBS uses un-named sources. But, it’s no big shock that a person who went crazy and idolized a mass murderer would choose a gun free zone to attack. Fortunately, Democrats in Colorado have a 10 point plan on how to deal with crazy people bent on violence (via Dana Loesch)

  1. Be realistic about your ability to protect yourself.
  2. Your instinct may be to scream, go ahead!  It may startle your attacker and give you an opportunity to run away.
  3. Kick off your shoes if you have time and can’t run in them.
  4. Don’t take time to look back; just get away.
  5. If your life is in danger, passive resistance may be your best defense.
  6. Tell your attacker that you have a disease or are menstruating.
  7. Vomiting or urinating may also convince the attacker to leave you alone.
  8. Yelling, hitting or biting may give you a chance to escape, do it!
  9. Understand that some actions on your part might lead to more harm.
  10. Remember, every emergency situation is different.  Only you can decide which action is most appropriate.

Those are the ideas the U of Colorado is giving women who are in danger of being raped/murdered/beaten. Remember, that university is a gun free zone. This is the real war on women, telling them to piss themselves to attempt to avoid violence on themselves instead of carrying a weapon. Oh, and #9, it’s probably the woman’s fault anyway.

Apparently, Forcing Women To Not Bare Their Breasts In Public Is Like Sharia

I’ll replace this later with proper Twitter embed code, which I can’t get on Droid, but, suffice to say, this is silly. It’s also mostly a waste of time the General Assembly is engaged in, too, but, I don’t think they’re engaged in requiring women to wear full body covering clothes. And public nudity is illegal in lots and lots of places around the country, including California, NY, NJ, amd other liberal meccas, except for certain specific areas. Which are usually privately owned and out of public viewing.

Oh, and there is no such thing a “Republicans for Obama”. If you support the majority of his agenda and voted for him you longer represent anything the GOP stands for.
