Weird: Deported Haitians Are Broke And Stranded

Wait, didn’t all the libs tell us Haiti was awesome?

Huh. So why is Frances Robles reporting in the NY Times that things are bad?

Deported From the U.S., Some Haitians Are Left Broke and Stranded

Dozens of deportees are arriving in the Haitian city of Cap Haitien weekly as the Trump administration pushes to remove Haitians who lack legal immigration status in the United States, and some are now marooned in an unfamiliar place.

More than 80 people were returned last week, often with only the U.S. government-issued sweatpants and T-shirts, and with immigration court documents stuffed in their pockets. Many returned broke, saying their valuables had disappeared during the trip and they now lacked the cash to get home.

The road out of Cap Haitien, on Haiti’s northern coast, is controlled by gangs that extract tolls from drivers and kidnap travelers. Five police officers who tried the trip by bus recently were murdered.

A day after being deported, Reginald Dorvilma, 36, sat stranded on Friday outside the Cap Haitien police station, making phone calls. He needed to find his way through gang territory to Les Cayes, his hometown on the other side of the country.

Despite all the money spent by the US, Canada, the UN, the Clinton Foundation (snicker), and others the place is a complete sh*thole, and, we brought a ton of the people who make it so into the US, but, it was always meant to be temporary.

The plight of people like Mr. Dorvilma is among the challenges facing the Haitian government as it grapples with the arrival in Cap Haitien every Thursday of returning citizens, including people who are penniless, a few who do not speak the local language, Creole, and others with criminal histories.

Whoa, whoa, we’re deporting Haitians with criminal records back? Huh. Strange that Democrats refused to take all these same people in to their own homes.

Teach basically does not like black people.
Remember how eagerly swallowed the lies about Haitians in Springfield Ohio killing and eating all the dogs?

And of course when he can not argue the immorality of sending families to a hellhole he resits to the ad hominem tu quoque. “You also” instead of trying to argue against the facts. It is immoral to deport humans into a dangerous environment which is impossible. Teach just makes accusations by saying the people supporting supporting the Haitians are hypocrites for not inviting them into their homes. An entirely different subject of whether they should be reported or not.
In the 30s right-wing Americans refused to allow sanctuary for Euro Jews who were at risk of death. They are doing it again. Refusing sanctuary and asylum to refugees.

The Haitians do not need housing to be provided by “libs” they were working and renting houses.
The Republican gov of Ohio, said that the Haitians had revitalized Springfield Ohio. “Libs” just wants deportations to end. Our economy NEEDS workers.Zhe Trump economy is a bigger issue to Americans than even the disaster of his war with Iran

Sorry, Johnny, but there’s plenty of US citizens to fill those jobs

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

There is no verifiable evidence that U.S. citizens will fill the jobs for the same compensation as the Haitian workers.

Why is Haiti a [insert vulgar term for feces here]hole country? Because Haitians have a [insert adjective form of vulgarity for feces here] culture!

When Papa Doc created the Tonton Macoute as his private ‘army’ and security force, he didn’t have to do that much: the culture of violence already existed, along with vodou.

The U.S. spends more on interest in a week than the world has spent on Haiti in the past decade!

Our stupid “excursions’, “incursions” and “police actions” are very expensive in American lives and money!!!

Haiti has about 12 million people. About the same as Ohio (where Haitans were “eating the dogs, eating the cats”). Haiti is about 10,600 sq mi, Ohio about 45,000 sq mi. The median age of Haitians is 24, of Ohioans, 40. (BTW, years ago when 70,000 Bosnians moved to the St Louis area, our Trump-supporting neighbor said the Bosnians smoked dogs to eat! Ironically, a Bosnian family moved across the street from them, and they are all now friends!)

What is wrong with Haiti? Everything.

Several hundred years ago, the island of Hispaniola was occupied by the indigenous Taino peoples whose demise began in 1492. Later, the island was divided between Spain (which colonized the eastern side, Santo Domingo, now the Dominican Republic) and France (which colonized the western side, Saint-Domingue, now Haiti).

The French relied on a brutal plantation system with a large population of enslaved Africans who supplied Europe with ample coffee and sugar!! Enslaved people revolted and won independence in 1804. France later forced Haiti to pay huge debts for lost property, which hurt its economy for a long time.

The Dominican Republic had fewer large plantations and gained independence later, in 1844, after periods of Spanish rule and a brief unification under Haiti.

Haiti uses French and Haitian Creole as its official languages. Its culture strongly reflects its African roots. The Dominican Republic uses Spanish as its primary language. Its culture historically emphasizes Spanish heritage, though many citizens share mixed ancestry.

Haiti struggles with severe poverty, political instability (they currently have NO government), and natural disasters. Its economy has faced long-term challenges from historical debts, weak infrastructure, and recent security crises. The Dominican Republic has a stable government and a growing economy. It draws many tourists and foreign investments. It is now one of the largest economies in Latin America.

The Dominican side has more green forests, while the Haitian side has suffered heavy deforestation.

Unfortunately, the failed state will likely require outside forces (UN?) to rebuild.

Our sympathetic socialist from St Louis said:

That’s certainly true enough, so why should we spend even more money supporting Haitian immigrants in the United States?

Unfortunately, the failed state will likely require outside forces (UN?) to rebuild.

As Mr Dowd pointed out, Haiti was a French colony and French f(oul) up. If someone other than the Haitians themselves are going to ‘rebuild’ that country, let the French do it! If Haitians are going to immigrate to a western nation to suck up their welfare expenditures, let them immigrate to France, not the United States.
