GOP Passes Bill To Speed Deporations

Of course, it can’t go anywhere since the Democrat controlled Senate had already left town

(Reuters) Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives voted on Friday to crack down on Central American migrants, including unaccompanied children, who are flooding to the U.S. border with Mexico, as lawmakers passed a $694 million border security bill.

The 223-189 vote came one day after conservative Republicans balked at an earlier version of the measure, exposing a deep rift between Tea Party activists and more mainstream Republicans.

In passing the retooled bill, the Republican-led House ignored a veto threat from the White House. But with the Senate already on a five-week summer recess, this measure will advance no further at least until September.

Even better

Later on Friday, the House also passed a separate bill reversing Obama’s 2012 policy suspending deportations of some undocumented residents who were brought to the United States as children years ago by their parents.

Of course, Democrats, including Mr. Obama, who initially were enthused by the notion of speeding deportations, but immediately flipped when Republicans showed that same enthusiasm. Of course, our Jackass-in-Chief had to chime in

“I’m going to have to act alone because we don’t have enough resources,” Obama told reporters. “We’ve already been very clear. We’ve run out of money.”

Interestingly, he’s had the option of putting the Executive Office in charge for months now, taking action, but he refused to do that without Congressional action. But, he doesn’t like the Congressional action, so now he’s going it alone. Nor has he ever worried about money. But, then, this is all about hyper-partisan politics to Obama, not wise policy.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 5230, legislation to address the humanitarian crisis at our southern border:

“The House has just passed a responsible bill to address the humanitarian crisis at our southern border. It will help secure our border and ensure the safe and swift return of these children to their home countries. If President Obama needs these resources, he will urge Senate Democrats to put politics aside, come back to work, and approve our bill. There are also steps the president can take to address this crisis within the law, and without further legislative action. Every day the president and his party fail to act is another day this crisis continues.”

Obama and the Dem Senate had no intention of taking up any House legislation that did not give them everything they wanted. Now we can listen to Obama whine about Congress, meaning the GOP led House, leaving town. Before Obama goes on his 15 day 1%er vacation.

NY Times Notes Rising Anti-Semitism In Europe

Not unsurprisingly, the Times does not allow comments on the article, because they would surely degenerate into nasty anti-Israel and anti-Jew tirades, as is common when discussing Israel. However, the article mostly links the rising anti-Semitism to the current conflict between Israel and Hamas. This is something that has been going for decades

(NY Times) Across Europe, the conflict in Gaza is generating a broader backlash against Jews, as threats, hate speech and even violent attacks proliferate in several countries.

Most surprising perhaps, a wave of incidents has washed over Germany, where atonement for the Holocaust and other Nazi crimes is a bedrock of the modern society. A commitment to the right of Israel to exist is ironclad. Plaques and memorials across the country exhort, “Never Again.” Children are taught starting in elementary school that their country’s Nazi history must never be repeated. Even so, academics say the recent episodes may reflect a rising climate of anti-Semitism that they had observed before the strife over Gaza.

This week, the police in the western city of Wuppertal detained two young men on suspicion of throwing firebombs at the city’s new synagogue; the attack early Tuesday caused no injuries. In Frankfurt on Thursday, the police said, a beer bottle was thrown through a window at the home of a prominent critic of anti-Semitism. She heard an anti-Jewish slur after going to the balcony to confront her assailant, The Frankfurter Rundschau reported. An anonymous caller to a rabbi threatened last week to kill 30 Frankfurt Jews if the caller’s family in Gaza was harmed, the police said.

There are incidents of anti-Semitic behavior occurring in France, in Austria, in Italy, and other countries. Jews are leaving France, particularly the major cities, over the rising anti-Jewish activities. On the bright side, many of the leading politicians in those countries are slamming those who are engaging in the anti-Semitism, and look to prosecute those engaged as fully as the law allows.

Academics who study anti-Semitism say the acceptance of disparaging remarks about Jews has become increasingly common in the educated middle class over the past two decades. Especially on social media, where hashtags such as #HitlerWasRight have appeared, there has been a significant jump in slurs against Jews.

Monika Schwarz-Friesel, a cognitive scientist at Technical University, has spent 10 years tracking anti-Semitic comments from educated Germans in letters to editors, in Internet chat rooms and on social media. She said such comments in public forums had served as kindling for the most recent outbreak.

So, it’s not just the current conflict: this is long term. Not mentioned are two things: first, this certainly coincides with the influx of Middle Easterners to Europe, some legally, some illegally. These people, especially the young, are seriously anti-Israel and anti-Jew, and tend to be supporters of radical Islam. They are also learning these attitudes within their mosques and Islamic schools. These same people are also anti-Western.

Second, there has been a big rise amongst Leftists in the 1st World to be anti-Israel, to the point where it becomes anti-Semitic. Leftists are constantly having to “clarify” their remarks, such as with Penelope Cruz and husband Javier Bardem. Ben Shapiro noted on Twitter “Sad that Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz are anti-Semites, but not unexpected given Spain’s sky-high Jew-hatred.”

So many Leftists see those within one of their favorite institutions engaging in Israel Derangement Syndrome, namely the United Nations, where much of the IDS is Jew hatred. It’s no wonder when you have hardcore Islamist nations sitting on panels like the Human Rights Commission, but, the anti-Semitism goes back decades. Israel is so often treated differently then other nations, and is singled out again and again, while barely ever condemning actors like Hamas, Hezbollah, PLA, Palestinians in general, and other terrorist organizations, which are generally considered to be “freedom fighters” by those at the U.N.

But, don’t think this is just in Europe: it happens here in the New World, too. There’s a long history of many crossing over from Israel Derangement Syndrome. Consider what Jackie Mason recently said

The legendary comic blasted stars like Rihanna, Selena Gomez and Penelope Cruz for their views on the current Israeli/Hamas fighting, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The comments, set to air Sunday on Aaron Klein Investigative Radio on Salem Radio’s AM 970 in New York, put him in company with fellow Israel defenders Joan Rivers and Howard Stern.

[Celebrities] come from these kinds of anti-Semitic, low-class backgrounds where a Jew is the most disgusting thing in the world to them,” Mason answers, according to audio obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. “The ironic thing is that it’s Jewish people who own these Hollywood studios … And they all hire these people and they depend on them for a living. Every penny they made is made from Jews and they hate every Jew just by nature.

Head to websites like the Democratic Underground, Daily Kos, Think Progress, and others, and you will find plenty of anti-Semitic comments. On the bright side, I’ll often see DU commenters fighting back against the anti-Semitic comments. You can find the same Jew hatred with the comments at the NY Times, Washington Post, LA Times, USA Today, Yahoo News, and others. I’ll see it in newspaper forums, such as those at NJ.com, where you have brawls between those on the Left and those on the Right. It became fashionable to be anti-Israel, and those sentiments turned to anti-Semitism.

There have been anti-Semitic messages and swastikas painted at Miami area synagogues and on cars recently. Much of the same types of anti-Israel/anti-Jew protests that have been occurring in Europe over the past few weeks have been occurring in the United States, too. This is happening in Canada, as well. We even have a Canadian Jew, writing at the Huffington Post, blaming Israel for the rising anti-Semitism

As a Jew, I am concerned by the rise in anti-Semitism worldwide, but I realize that Israel’s actions, brutalizing a civilian population it holds captive, are helping to fuel a revival of anti-Semitic attitudes.

That seems to be an attitude held by many Leftists. Just scroll through so many posts by Zombie, and you can see the hatred in many hotbeds of US Leftism, such as here and here. They are rationalizing their Israel hatred as Jew hatred. Here’s Brenden O’Neill

There has been a lot of talk over the past two weeks about whether it is anti-Semitic to oppose Israel’s attack on Gaza. Radical Leftists and liberal commentators have insisted (perhaps a bit too much?) that there is nothing remotely anti-Semitic about their anger with Israel or their fury on behalf of battered, bruised and bombed Palestinians. And of course they are right that it is entirely possible to oppose Israel’s militarism without harbouring so much as a smidgen of dislike for the Jewish people. Some will oppose the war in Gaza simply because they are against wars in general, especially ones that impact on civilians.

However, it seems pretty clear to me that much of the left in Europe and America is becoming more anti-Semitic, or at least risks falling into the trap of anti-Semitism, sometimes quite thoughtlessly. In the language it uses, in the ideas it promotes, in the way in which it talks about the modern world, including Israel, much of the Left has adopted a style of politics that has anti-Semitic undertones, and sometimes overtones. The key problem has been the Left’s embrace of conspiratorial thinking, its growing conviction that the world is governed by what it views as uncaring “cabals”, “networks”, self-serving lobbyists and gangs of bankers, all of which has tempted it to sometimes turn its attentions towards those people who historically were so often the object and the target of conspiratorial thinking – the Jews.

Make sure to read the whole thing. Leftists claim they are against bigotry and hatred, yet they have rationalized a situation where they can hate Jews.

“Climate Change” Means Hot And Cold Snaps!

You drove your fossil fueled vehicle, therefore, it’s all your fault

(Nature World News) While climate change is usually associated with warming temperatures, new research indicates that the planet will experience heat waves as well as cold snaps in the coming years.

About 97 percent of scientists, at this point, agree that the temperature of the planet is rising because of human-related activities such as the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. But until now, they didn’t know the degree of variability surrounding that increase – meaning the difference between hot and cold days from one year to the next.

Prior studies focused on phenomenon like whether a particular region would experience overall warming. But lead author Evan Kodra from Northeastern University and his team took a different approach, instead honing in on variability.

As described in the journal Nature, the researchers discovered that while global temperature is indeed increasing, so too is the variability in temperature extremes. For instance, while each year’s average hottest and coldest temperatures will likely rise, those averages will also tend to fall within a wider range of potential high and low temperate extremes than are currently being observed.

This means that even as overall temperatures rise, we may still continue to experience extreme cold snaps, Kodra said.

“Just because you have a year that’s colder than the usual over the last decade isn’t a rejection of the global warming hypothesis,” he explained in a statement.

In real terms, this is Excuse Making by Warmists to protect the cult when the weather doesn’t cooperate with their idiotic, computer and fantasy land generated prognostications of Doom from warming. And, let’s note that there is absolutely nothing that will dissuade Warmists from their notions. They are more hardcore than al Qaeda, the Westboro Baptist Church, or followers of Jim Jones.

The Climate Change Revolution Begins With You (Taking A Fossil Fueled Trip To Spread Awareness)…

…about how Evil fossil fuels are and how we’re all doomed. Of course this is at MSNBC

The climate change revolution begins with you

September 21, 2014 is shaping up to be a day for the history books. Echoing the words of Paulo Coelho, “Life was always a matter of waiting for the right moment to act.” That moment is now.

When people ask: “Where were you when the world came together and changed for the better?” Without hesitation you will tell them: “I was in the streets of New York City, part of the People’s Climate March.”

Surrounded by old friends, and new friends, by family, by neighbors and by tens of thousands of people from all walks of life and every ethnic, religious and political background, we will tell them: “We came together to let the world know that we want and demand a brighter future for our children and ourselves.”

The Secretary General of the United Nations has put out a call to world leaders to join him at a summit in New York City on September 23, the day before the opening of the Annual United Nations General Assembly:

“There is opportunity amid this [climate change] peril – a chance to change the way we do business, plan our cities, fuel our homes and factories, and move our goods and ourselves. A low-carbon path beckons – a path that can create jobs and improve public health while safeguarding the environment. To help set us on this course, I invite all of you to a Climate Change Summit … in New York City.”

We are a coalition of parents’ organizations that are joining forces to encourage participation in the March on September 21 – including Moms Clean Air Force, The Mothers Project, Mothers Out Front, Climate Parents, and many more. We will be joining labor groups, students, faith based organizations, environmental justice groups, artists, grandparents, military families, teachers, bankers, engineers, farmers and factory workers – hundreds of organizations and hundreds of thousands of individuals – collectively letting our world leaders know we are watching them closely and we can’t wait any longer for climate solutions.

Hmm, that’s quite a few people heading to NYC for a march, putting out quite a bit of “carbon pollution” from fossil fueled travel, wouldn’t you say? This next part is even more amusing

Our elected leaders have been talking for more then 20 years, taking little real action to address the climate crisis.

And, what, exactly, have the Warmist peons been doing over those same 20 years? They sure refuse to take any substantive actions within their own lives

Meanwhile, our planet has been getting sicker,

and we have put the future of our children and ourselves in peril. It’s time that our leaders heard clearly from us. Unless they work together for positive change, we will find and elect others who can and will create this change. We teach our children to lead by example, yet our elected officials, business and community leaders have been poor role models when it comes to climate solutions.

And we’re right back to the question “what are Warmists doing in their own lives to reduce their own carbon footprints?” In this case, they are increase them.

BTW, mark your calendar for September 21st, see if the Gore Effect comes into play.

Senator Blunt: Obama’s “Hatin'” Comment Like Something From Junior High

It’s what he said after that that really brings it on home

(St. Louis Today) Told of the “hating” quote, Blunt said it sounded like “the kinds of things that happen in junior high, when you say that somebody else is a really bad person.

“That is no way to begin to work with that person,” Blunt said.

An excellent point. How does one actually work with anyone who makes everything extremely personal, and is constantly nasty, mean-spirited, and insulting? Things that currently go way, way beyond typical politics. Well, you don’t. Especially when Obama’s policies are ridiculous, silly, and failures to start with.

Poll Shows GOP Standing Tough On Border Most Important Issue

Is it?

(Breitbart) Polling data compiled by Tea Party Patriots and provided exclusively to Breitbart News shows that a majority of Republican voters think Republicans standing strong on immigration is more important than repealing Obamacare, getting to the bottom of the Benghazi or IRS scandals—or anything else for that matter.

When asked by TPP’s pollster which issue they think is the important for Republicans in Congress to deal with, 34.6 percent of GOP voters said stopping the flow of illegal immigrants across our southern border. Stopping Obama’s “illegal overreach” with executive power came in a distant second with 24 percent of GOP voters saying that’s the most important, while 23 percent saying repealing Obamacare is the most important and just 7.2 percent say the IRS scandal is the most important issue and 2.8 percent say the Benghazi scandal is most important. A total of 8.4 percent of GOP voters said they don’t know or refused to answer.

The poll was conduced with 1,000 likely GOP voters on Thursday, July 24 via a combination of cell phones and landlines nationwide, with a margin of error of 3.2 percent.

I do have to wonder how much of this is simply related to the current illegal immigrant issue, and if this would have been different a few months ago. And, if it will be different a few months from now, when there will surely be some other crisis that replaces this one.

On the bright side, the NY Times is apparently very upset over the “Rebellion inside the GOP

Conservatives in the House rebelled against their leadership on Thursday to scuttle an emergency spending measure that addressed the migrant crisis at the southern border, pushing the issue to a showdown on Friday as lawmakers prepared to leave for a five-week recess. The unexpected turmoil offered a coda to the dysfunction that has gripped the Capitol for much of the year.

The failure of the comparatively modest Republican border bill, coupled with the Senate’s own inability to even bring a Democratic alternative to a vote, emphasized how the prospects of a broad immigration overhaul — which at the beginning of the 113th Congress held great bipartisan promise — have ground to a crashing halt.

William Kristol noted several good reasons to kill the bill, one of which is that Senate Democrats wouldn’t take it up and Obama threatened to veto it. John Boehner will give it one more try today. Perhaps Ted Cruz’ anti-deferred action bill will get a vote?

Unfortunately, GOP leadership, squishy and Dem-lite as always, just doesn’t get it. Instead of going with squishy methods, get tough. Stand on Law. Ignore the idiots using personal invective and ask them to put forth exactly what they want to pass and why. Put Democrats on the defensive, force them to defend amnesty for illegals/law breakers. Republicans should listen to the people who vote for them.

No one should possibly think this crisis just happened, not with the mid-terms coming up. This issue is a way to change the dynamics away from Obamacare, the stagnant economy, and Obama over-reach, and paint Republicans as heartless and worthless. And, if Republicans give in to Democrats, that will keep Republicans and Conservatives home on election day.

Satanists Use Hobby Lobby Ruling For Democrat Style Purposes

This is an interesting turn of events. Who knew that Satanists have the same positions on abortion as Democrats?

(ABC News) A group of Satanists are using the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby decision to promote their own political initiatives — which are the polar opposite of the Christian craft store giant.

The Supreme Court ruling allows Hobby Lobby to opt out of providing contraceptives to employees on the basis of their religious beliefs. Now, The Satanic Temple plans to cite the verdict as justification for the protection of their own beliefs. (WT-gotta admire the media’s continued ability to fail to represent the ruling properly)

The Satanic Temple, a religious group based in New York but with followers across the country, is using the ruling to fight informed consent laws which mandate that women considering abortions must be given state-approved literature about the procedure.

“We should only have to review medical or scientific information based solely on fact and not politicized,” said Jex Blackmore, the head of the Detroit chapter of The Satanic Temple. “Some of that state-drafted information is medical in nature [but] it’s just that it’s written in a very biased format.”

The group announced the initiative last week and have provided a form letter intended to enable women to opt-out of receiving the pamphlets distributed under the informed consent laws. They contend that the informed consent pamphlets run counter to their religious beliefs. Women are able to print off the opt-out form, fill it out and hand it to their doctor. If the doctor still gives them the state-mandated forms in spite of the letter, The Satanic Temple says it will file a lawsuit on their behalf.

Huh. So Satanists are upset by informed consent laws when it comes to abortion. So are Democrats, who have been fighting informed consent laws since they were passed, and are very upset over them. In fact, Senate Democrats have recently begun pushing a bill that would wipe out all State level informed consent laws, along with virtually every pro-life law. Seems that Democrats are more hard cored in favor of abortion than Satanists.

When it comes to fighting any lawsuits that The Satanic Temple brings forward regarding informed consent laws, it appears that the devil is truly in the details.

“It really puts the conservative Christians and the anti-contraceptive Catholics in a bind: They’re going to have to argue that a religious group should lose a RFRA claim that is on par with the Hobby Lobby claim,” Hamilton said.

“The courts cant pick and choose between beliefs.”

An interesting point. Of course, they haven’t actually made a case as to how the informed consent pamphlets violate their religious beliefs. There’s nothing in this article, nor any other articles I’ve perused, that explain that position, which would be necessary to sue. They really do not make a case on their website. Unless they’re saying that politics is against their religion? According to their press release, this is based on the notion that “The Satanic Temple believes that the body is inviolable — subject to one’s own will alone.” Wouldn’t that mean that the baby should be accorded the same will over their body?

However, at the end of the day, it looks more like this is really about fundraising, nothing more, nothing less, for the Satanic Temple. Kinda like with Democrat emails: give us money.

Say, Why Does Hamas Store Its Weapons In Civilian Areas?

Good question. The Washington Post finally deigns to notice what most other people already know, in their own unique fashion

Why Hamas stores its weapons inside hospitals, mosques and schools

To many observers, one of the most troublesome facts of the Gaza Strip conflict — which has killed around 1,340 Palestinians, many of them civilians, and 56 Israeli soldiers — has been Israel’s apparent willingness to strike civilian institutions such as mosques, schools and hospitals. On Wednesday, following a strike on a school while its inhabitants slept, killing 20 people and wounding dozens more, a United Nations official said Israel had violated international law. “I condemn in the strongest possible terms the serious violation of international law by Israel forces, said U.N. official Pierre Krähenbühl. “This is an affront to all of us, a source of universal shame. Today the world stands disgraced.”

Israeli military officials, for their part, say the reality of the strikes is substantially more complicated and claim Hamas’s maintenance of military operations inside civilian institutions precipitate such attacks.

“Hamas chooses to use these protected areas for military purposes in order to shield itself from IDF strikes,” the Israeli Defense Forces said this week. “And to draw international condemnation of Israel if the IDF is forced to respond.”

This is followed by a rehash of how Hamas is hiding weapons within hospitals, mosques, and UN schools. If you thought that WP writer Terrance McCoy was going to condemn Hamas, you’d be wrong. The article is about as vanilla and “just the facts, Ma’am” as one will see in today’s liberal media.

For years, Hamas has “planned carefully for a major Israeli invasion,”according to a Washington Institute for Near East Policy report. In addition to an elaborate tunnel system, there was the “integral use of civilians and civilian facilities as cover for its military activity; schools, mosques, hospitals, and civilian housing became weapons storage facilities, Hamas headquarters, and fighting positions … IDF imagery and combat intelligence revealed extensive use of civilian facilities.”

Whatever its plan, the outcome of this practice is indisputably devastating — both in Palestinian lives lost and Israel’s standing in the international community. As images of death and tragedy clog news outlets, international condemnation of Israel mounts. Which, according to the Israeli military, is exactly what it predicted would happen.

Interestingly, Hamas’ use of civilians and civilian property as shields rarely elicits condemnation from the liberal media nor liberals. When it does happen, there is usually some sort of “oh, but, you know, those Israeli’s are mean, too” accompanying said condemnation. There is a false moral equivalence created, when it is Hamas, a terrorist group, which is at fault.
