Is The List Of Warming Excuses Actually 29?

I have it set at 14. The Hockey Schtick says it’s 29

1) Low solar activity

2) Oceans ate the global warming [debunked] [debunked] [debunked]

3) Chinese coal use [debunked]

4) Montreal Protocol

5) What ‘pause’? [debunked] [debunked] [debunked] [debunked]

8) Faster Pacific trade winds [debunked]

9) Stadium Waves

10) ‘Coincidence!’

11) Pine aerosols

12) It’s “not so unusual” and “no more than natural variability”

13) “Scientists looking at the wrong ‘lousy’ data” http://

14) Cold nights getting colder in Northern Hemisphere

(Rest below the fold)

15) We forgot to cherry-pick models in tune with natural variability [debunked]

16) Negative phase of Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation

17) AMOC ocean oscillation

18) “Global brightening” has stopped

19) “Ahistorical media”

20) “It’s the hottest decade ever” Decadal averages used to hide the ‘pause’ [debunked]

21) Few El Ninos since 1999

22) Temperature variations fall “roughly in the middle of the AR4 model results”

23) “Not scientifically relevant”

24) The wrong type of El Ninos

25) Slower trade winds [debunked]

26) The climate is less sensitive to CO2 than previously thought [see also]

27) PDO and AMO natural cycles and here

28) ENSO

29) Solar cycle driven ocean temperature variations

We can certainly expect plenty more if the Pause continues. Of course, we are all missing one important one in our lists: “shut up”. Yes, Warmists use that as an excuse. Oh, and then there’s the ever popular “the science is settled”.

Obama Pulls Normal Schtick: Mocks Republicans Before Asking For Their Help

By the way, will Obama be required to pay for the full use of Air Force One, since he really had no official, presidential duties event on the schedule? His supposed events were strictly partisan. Shocking!

(CNS News) As President Barack Obama accuses Republicans of wasting taxpayer money on a lawsuit against him, Obama himself is traveling all over the country at taxpayer expense, eating barbecue, raising money, and indulging his inner celebrity before adoring crowds.

“We love you! We love you!” the people shouted in Kansas City on Wednesday. “Thank you,” Obama replied, as he launched into a partisan speech, criticizing Republicans for blocking his liberal “opportunity agenda” and listing all the things he’s done on his own:

“So some of the things we’re doing without Congress are making a difference, but we could do so much more if Congress would just come on and help out a little bit, Obama said.

“Just come on. Come on and help out a little bit. Stop being mad all the time. (Applause.) Stop just hating all the time. Come on. (Applause.) Let’s get some work done together,” said the president who has shown no inclination to negotiate with Congress, even when he’s in Washington.

He actually said “hatin'”. Seriously. Twitchy referred to him as “President Beiber“. Of course, Obama gives us plenty of reason to be mad, considering his clear violations of law and Constitution.

That’s right, Obama is constantly threatening to veto what the GOP led House passes. And Obama and his White House minions always seem to forget that the House has passed numerous bills, quite a few which are economic, that languish without a vote, nor even a committee hearing, in the Democrat led Senate

For Democrats, It’s Impeachment 24/7

Here are a few points from the Republicans articles of Impeachment for Obama

  • Article XXIV: Spying on American Citizens, Without a Court-Ordered Warrant, in Violation of the Law and the Fourth Amendment
  • Article XXVI: Announcing the Intent to Violate Laws with Signing Statements
  • Article XXVII Failing to Comply with Congressional Subpoenas and Instructing Former Employees Not to Comply
  • Article XXVIII: Tampering with Free and Fair Elections, Corruption of the Administration of Justice

Seems rather ominous, eh?

Anyhow, here’s Nate Silver on the subject

House Speaker John Boehner said Tuesday that Republicans have no plans to impeach President Obama, and that all the impeachment talk was driven by Democrats hoping to stir up their base.

Boehner’s statement isn’t literally true: There have been mentions of impeachment around the edges of the GOP and by some Republican members of Congress. But on the whole, Democrats are spending a lot more time talking about impeachment than Republicans.

Consider, for example, the Sunlight Foundation’s Capitol Words database, which tracks words spoken in the House and Senate. So far in July, there have been 10 mentions of the term “impeachment” in Congress and four others of the term “impeach.” Eleven of the 14 mentions have been made by Democratic rather than Republican members of Congress, however.

Impeachment chatter has also become common on cable news. On Fox News this month, Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor, called for Obama’s impeachment, for instance. But for every mention of impeachment on Fox News in July, there have been five on liberal-leaning MSNBC.

All in all, it has been Democrats who have the ones mostly discussing impeachment. There was a brief flurry of blog posts from Conservatives immediately after Sarah Palin brought the issue to the forefront with two Facebook posts. Democrats have been fundraising (successfully) like crazy off the notion. Liberal media types have been running rampant with opinion pieces. The Washington Post has two breathless op-eds by Dana Milbank and E.J. Dionne running on their web front page this morning. The Hill also noticed that Democrats just can’t stop talking about impeachment. Even the White House is pushing the meme.

Let’s ask the relevant question: if it was a Republican president acting in such a lawless manner, would high ranking Democrats be pushing for actual impeachment proceedings? They never would have considered this, right?

(Daily Caller) In a speech on the floor of the House Wednesday, Texas U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee claimed that Democrats never sought to impeach President George W. Bush.

Not only is that claim false, but Jackson-Lee actually co-sponsored a 2008 bill to do just that and spoke in at least one House committee hearing in support of the effort.

In 2008, former Ohio U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, a prominent opponent of the Iraq war, introduced a bill titled ”Impeaching George W. Bush, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors.”

Jackson Lee and 10 other Democrats co-sponsored it.

Hmph. Say, remember when John Conyers held his little fake impeachment trial in the Capital basement? Twice? And all the left wing groups, such as After Downing Street, World Can’t Wait, and so many others, that pushed impeaching Bush? Oh, and then there’s this, which the Daily Caller forgot to mention

(Democrats.com) By a bipartisan vote of 251-166, the full House of Representatives sent Dennis Kucinich’s 35 Articles of Impeachment to the Judiciary Committee.

That means Chairman John Conyers now has the power to decide whether to hold impeachment hearings – or not.

Those points at the beginning of the post come directly from Kucinich’s Articles of Impeachment named in the above excerpt.

Rabbi brings warnings of climate change to Kansas churches

The Cult Of Gore continues to infiltrate real religion

(Kansas City.com) Rabbi Moti Rieber travels the politically red state of Kansas armed with the book of Genesis, a psalm and even the words of Jesus to lecture church audiences, or sermonize if they’ll let him, about the threat of global warming.

“My feeling is that I’m the only person these people are ever going to see who’s going to look them in the eye and say, ‘There’s such a thing as climate change,’” Rieber said. “I’m trying to let them know it’s not irreligious to believe in climate change.”

He is at the vanguard of religious efforts — halting in some places, gathering speed elsewhere — to move the ecological discussion from its hot-button political and scientific moorings to one based on theological morality and the right thing to do.

Of course, it’s not about any sort of disbelief in science. Skeptics understand that climate change happens. We disagree over causation, as well as solutions. Is it any wonder religion and morality are dying out when religious leaders attempt to push far left political issues?

He’s not the only one mixing theology of stewardship with hardcore politics

Led by an Episcopal priest, Sally Bingham, the organization is a network of 15,000 churches across 41 states, including some of the most conservative in the country. Members often begin with promoting green technology in a church — efficient light bulbs and solar panels — before turning to the morality of environmental stewardship.

Maybe they should worry more about preaching the Gospel.

Her effort is not alone. The United Methodist Church promotes a Green Church Initiative. A core mission of the Episcopal Church is “to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the Earth.”

In May, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops urged the Environmental Protection Agency to draft new carbon-pollution rules for power plants. For years, the leader of the 300-million member Christian Orthodox faith — Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, known as the “Green Patriarch” — has declared planet stewardship a spiritual duty.

It’s bad enough that Warmists ruin real environmental concerns by putting them under the banner of “climate change”: now we have religious leaders mixing religion with “climate change”. Turn they’ll wonder what happened to all their parishioners, and why there’s been such a loss of morals.

Taxpayers Foot Bill For Students Climahypocrisy Trip

Another day, more Warmists being hypocrites

(Washington Free Beacon) The National Park Service (NPS) is spending $140,368 to fly 10 students to Sydney, Australia so they can experience a “climate change journey.”

The government announced last week they are paying for the group to attend the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s World Parks Congress (WPC), a global conference on conservation this Fall.

The funding will go towards “youth engagement” at the conference, which will feature a “Responding to Climate Change Stream” and a “Climate Change Journey” initiative. Ten students will be selected from Colorado State University (CSU) and universities in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Bamako, Mali to attend.

So, not only will they be taking long fossil fueled trips to complain about fossil fuels, but they will be joined by citizens of other countries, all on the taxpayer dime.

“The NPS will partner with CSU to invite students from around the world to participate in the WPC and take a Climate Change Journey,” the grant announcement said. “Journeys are identified pathways that young people may follow to fully engage in a particular topic related to climate change.”

The “journey” involves attending sessions on climate change, including a “hope” session and one on “perceptions,” which will examine climate change skeptics.

So, spreading awareness and ways to jail skeptics, but nothing on making changes in their own lives.

Rep. Keith Ellison Takes Side Of Hamas, Wants Blockade Ended

This is entirely unsurprising. Ellison has vast links to the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR, which themselves have links to Hamas. He is also a hardcore Democrats, prone to Blaming Israel for the world’s, or at least the region’s, ills.

End the Gaza blockade to achieve peace

It seems as though each day brings new horrors and heartbreaks in the Holy Land. More than 1,000 dead. Gazan children blown up on the beach. A U.N. shelter hit. Two-thirds of Israelis living in fear from indiscriminate rocket fire launched by Hamas. But as the calls for a cease-fire gain momentum, it is important to understand that many Gazans who have no association with Hamas view the return to the way things were as unacceptable.

These people aren’t rocket shooters or combatants. For the past several years they have lived in dreadful isolation. The status quo for ordinary Gazans is a continuation of no jobs and no freedom. This is not an attractive future. Gazans want and deserve the dignity of economic opportunity and freedom to move. This can be accomplished only with an end to the blockade of the Gaza Strip, which must be considered within the framework of a cease-fire. Israelis likewise deserve to live free of rocket fire and terror attacks. In order for Israelis to live safely and securely in their homes, Hamas must give up its rockets and other weapons.

He discusses visiting Gaza three times since 2009, and never having met a member of Hamas. And that most Gazans do not support Hamas. Well, Keith, except for those elections where so many Gazans voted for Hamas.

So how can the international community support those Gazans who don’t support indiscriminate rocket fire? We could take steps to allow for the safe flow of goods and services into Gaza and the export of goods and services to neighboring countries. We could advocate for Gazans to have freedom of movement. Now, if you’re a Gazan traveling in the West Bank, the Israeli military can forcibly return you to Gaza. Being able to import goods such as food, fuel and medicine would mean that Gazans would not be forced to buy necessities from a tunnel economy controlled by extremists. International actors should be involved in the process to address Israel’s security concerns about lifting the blockade.

Wait a minute. This appears to push the notion of taking the blockade out of the hands of Israel (Egypt being part of the blockade barely gets a mention in Ellison’s screed) and putting it in the hands of “international actors”. What’s the difference? Could it be because Ellison, like so many Liberals, hates Israel? Or could it be that some of these international actors would let through the banned goods?

The blockade prevents development in Gaza. Egypt and Israel argue that the blockade is designed to cut off resources from terrorists, but really it has brought those who want a better life to their knees while the bad actors still have their rockets. Before the blockade, the United Nations provided food to 80,000 in Gaza; today it provides food to 830,000 .

Israel and Egypt also view the blockade as a success because it pushed Hamas into a financial crisis. This is short-term thinking. It ignores the fact that the economic devastation from the blockade weakens the public and private sectors in Gaza and strengthens extremists and smuggling enterprises. Repression and deprivation fuel terrorism; economic development and inclusion can fuel long-term peace.

At the end of the day, everything fuels Islamist terrorism. The very existence of Israel drives Islamists into terrorism. Neither Israel nor Egypt want to have a blockade. They would prefer that Gazans live good lives, and that they not attack Israel. Israel left 3,000 greenhouse when they pulled out of Gaza. Hamas tore them down. In fact, much of the blockade had been eased by both the Egyptians and Israelis starting in 2010, until 2013 with the discovery of all the tunnels. Those tunnels go into both Israel and Egypt. Both nations allow most civilian aid to enter Gaza, with only limited restrictions, like on cement, used to build tunnels.

Ultimately, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict must be resolved with a final status agreement, and ending the violence and the blockade is a first step toward a permanent solution.

This is the exact position of Hamas. This is what they want. This is what they are demanding. Let’s say that Israel and Egypt end the blockade: other than Ellison, does anyone think that the violence will end? Or, will it increase, thanks to Hamas and the other Islamic terrorist groups getting more weapon and military material?

The Palestinians were violent and dirt poor prior to the blockade. The aid that was provided was never used properly. The leadership of the Palestinians enriched themselves and lived the high life. The only way to end the violence is stop Islamists. Ellison can’t seem to find it in himself to condemn Hamas or the other extremists, ones who won’t, by the way, recognize Israel.

I do find it amusing, though, that Ellison simply wants to move the blockade from Israeli/Egyptian hands to those of “international actors”.

Mother Faces Ten Years In Jail For Letting Child Play Alone In Park

Following up on the case of Debra Harrell, which I mentioned in terms of Democrats being all for parents sending their children from Honduras, Guatemala, and other Central American nations

(ABC News) Plenty of working parents can relate to the dilemma Debra Harrell faced when her 9-year-old daughter asked to play unsupervised in a park this summer. How do you find the time and money for child care when school is out?

Harrell’s answer to that question got her arrested. She spent 17 days in jail, temporarily lost custody of her girl, thought she lost her job, and still faces 10 years in prison if convicted of felony child neglect.

The decision of this 46-year-old single mother and McDonald’s shift manager has been picked apart since police were called when Regina was spotted alone in the park.

Unbelievable. 17 days in jail. A potential 10 year jail term. I forget who it was, but someone on Twitter mentioned that in their day virtually every parent, including their own, would be arrested for this. When I was 9, I was running around the neighborhood, usually with my friends. We’d be riding bikes in the woods. We’d head down to the pond, or maybe off to the river. The local park. The library.  This is similar to so many stories in the ABC comments.

But some of their neighbors tell The Associated Press that Harrell shouldn’t be vilified, because many nearby families also leave their kids at Summerfield Park. In the South Carolina summer, the park has obvious appeal to kids: there’s cool water on a splash pad, a playground and basketball courts, and a volunteer comes by with a free breakfast and lunch. Plenty of friends and some parents and caretakers also are around to keep an eye on things, they say.

“Her child is not the only one at that park without a parent. There are children all over this neighborhood. They hold the feed-a-child program. There’s that splash pad too,” said Angelina Scott, who lives one street over from Harrell and has a daughter in the same grade as Regina.

I certainly understand the concern of Authorities and some people in terms of leaving the girl alone for hours at a time. But, if she’s hanging at the park with lots of others, the danger should be minimized. But, let’s go back to the original article

Here are the facts: Debra Harrell works at McDonald’s in North Augusta, South Carolina. For most of the summer, her daughter had stayed there with her, playing on a laptop that Harrell had scrounged up the money to purchase. (McDonald’s has free WiFi.) Sadly, the Harrell home was robbed and the laptop stolen, so the girl asked her mother if she could be dropped off at the park to play instead.

Harrell said yes. She gave her daughter a cell phone. The girl went to the park—a place so popular that at any given time there are about 40 kids frolicking—two days in a row. There were swings, a “splash pad,” and shade. On her third day at the park, an adult asked the girl where her mother was. At work, the daughter replied.

So, this wasn’t exactly something that was being done every day. Most days, Harrell’s daughter was hanging with her at McDonald’s. This was an exception. Funny how we’re not cool with allowing a child to head to the park alone and have to vilify the mother, with a potential jail term looming, but, everything is fine when it comes to illegal aliens.

Oops: Environmental Groups Tend To Be Pretty Darned White And Rich

The post writer at Grist tends to put this in racist terms, but, could it be that quite a few minorities just do not care about “climate change”?

And despite civil rights laws, organizations whose mission is to clean the air don’t seem to have grown much more hospitable to people of color. A new report, released today, shows that the staffs of mainstream green groups have been overrepresented with white men despite the groups’ intentions to be more colorful. One of its most damning findings is that “the dominant culture of the organizations is alienating to ethnic minorities, the poor, the LGBTQ community, and others outside the mainstream.”

The report, called “The State of Diversity in Environmental Organizations,” is billed as “the most comprehensive report on diversity in the environmental movement.” It was compiled by a working group of thought leaders on environment and race called Green 2.0, led by University of Michigan professor Dorceta Taylor. The report explores the history of tension between green activism and racial justice, and the many attempts at rapprochement.

From Earth Day 1970 until today, the report says, the majority of the people directing, staffing, and even volunteering at green groups have not only been white men, but they also hail from wealthier households with elite educational pedigrees. A 1972 study of 1,500 environmental volunteers nationwide showed that 98 percent of them were white and 59 percent held a college or graduate degree. Compare that to Taylor’s more recent demographic profiling of environmental orgs where, based on data collected on 166 mainstream organizations from 2004 to 2006, she found that minorities comprised just 14.6 percent of their staffs.

Climate change is truly a First World Problem.
