Palin Doubles Down On Impeachment

Yes, she does, as she writes at Fox News

The next time you hear politicians denounce Barack Obama as a lawless, imperial president with a scandal-riddled administration, ask them what they’re going to do about it. Their gnashing of teeth over Obama’s self-granted omnipotence is repetitive.

Let’s agree with our ninth president, William Henry Harrison, who said there is nothing more corrupting, nothing more destructive than the exercise of unlimited power. We understand the problem. The only way for politicians to fix it is with a little less talk and a lot more action.

The Constitution provides the remedy for a president who commits “high crimes and misdemeanors.” It’s impeachment.

She has a point regarding nothing being done to hold Obama accountable. That said, there’s no way he would be kicked out of office, even if the GOP regains the Senate. There just aren’t enough votes, because the vast majority, if not 100%, of Democrats will not vote to get rid of him. Palin does make a much better case than last time

To be clear, “high crimes and misdemeanors” are not necessarily ordinary criminal offenses. Our Framers used the term to signify a dereliction of duty, and the first duty of the president is to enforce our laws and preserve, protect, and defend our Constitution.

Alexander Hamilton described impeachable offenses as those “which proceed from the misconduct of public men, or, in other words, from the abuse or violation of some public trust.” He explained that they are “political” offenses “as they relate chiefly to injuries done immediately to the society itself.”

Excellent points. She goes on to lay out her argument, noting specific points, something I mentioned was really missing last time. Head over to read her points. She makes a good case, and in a realistic world, Obama would already be impeached and kicked out of office. Alas, reality intrudes, as do politics.

There is a big danger, here, namely that Obama could come out of any impeachment preceding with more power and more emboldened. I’m not really worried about a President Biden. He couldn’t be worse than Obama. Also, this could damage the chances of the GOP taking the White House, much less holding the House, and the Senate if they win in 2014, come 2016. Democrats have always played the long game. Republicans need to learn to do the same, and 2016 is it.

Is there much to say after: A history lesson from Sarah Palin? lol

She probably can’t understand why he doesn’t just quit. That’s what she did when she was criticized. But then there are many things she can’t understand.

This is the mess Obama and Dems got themselves into for not pursuing criminal charges against Bush et al. It only encouraged the far-right to be even more extreme. We have a substantial number of right-wing extremists, some are domestic terrorists, who are gaining strength and are infiltrating our public systems. Their goal is a totalitarian Taliban-like Christian state and pure blood lines. Their tactics are local and stealthy – infiltration of state-houses to enact gerrymandering and voter suppression. Elections DO have consequences.

When the conservative, Roman Catholic wing of the Supreme Court invalidated important sections of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, right-wing state legislatures ramped up their voter suppression efforts immediately. Republicans elites are not dumb. They understand the coming demographics. To stay in power they can either broaden their message to recruit voters or keep opposition voters from the polls.

We have to recognize the evil that is the American far-right. Few far-right politicians will disclose their actual desires and risk shocking moderate America.

In Jeffery’s world, having an ID to vote is somehow “suppression” of the vote. It doesn’t matter to Jeffery that in the states that have adopted voter ID laws, the increase in minority voting has risen.

We all understand Jeffery’s need to lie and obfuscate the truth. That is what liberals like Jeffery does.

  3. Jeffery says:

Listen, if voter ID laws increased the minority vote, the Republicans wouldn’t be for it.

In addition, you didn’t supply any evidence but you might be talking about the experiences in Georgia comparing the 2004 and 2008 elections where a new voter ID law had been enacted and minority vote DID increase in 2008. Conservatives use that data to claim that voter ID laws INCREASE minority participation against all logic. Note that there are competing hypotheses out there. For example, a black Democratic candidate may have increased minority participation. There was significant outreach. How did states do that did NOT enact voter ID?

Yet they were and it did.

Liberals aren’t interested in protecting the right to vote. They are interested in protecting illegally cast votes that support their base.

That is why Democrats are against laws that protect the right to vote (and other rights as well.)

In 28 states (not including Florida, Texas, and California) there are 6.9 million people that can vote multiple times.

That should raise eyebrows, but liberals don’t care about legally cast votes.

Aw, Teach, not you, too?! Is there nothing that the civilians of this country will do to protect that which our military has shed blood, sweat and tears to ensure? WE all have to live by the rules. How is letting him off the hook “to play the long game” doing the right thing? Believe it or not, most Americans believe in the rule of law still. But, with much more talk like this coming from those who were elected to represent our views, I won’t be surprised to see a mass uprising of illegality. All based upon the premise of, “So? What’re you gonna do about it?” that this occupant slaps our faces with every single day.
I, for one, am sick and tired of it. And I’m sick and tired of the excuses for why we “can’t” or “won’t” deal with this as it should have been long ago.
Are we a nation of laws, or not? Cause if not, I need to know so I can prepare to protect myself and my family.

Sarah is thinking small. If you impeach Obama, you can impeach Biden. Do it at the same time and you get Boehner for Prez. OK, we all know Boehner is a RINO, so as you’re impeaching Obama and Biden you need to be replacing Boehner with a Tea Bircher. A man with personal courage, like Joe “You Lie!” Wilson, Steve King, Louie Gohmert or Michelle Bachmann.

Or if it’s easier, once Boehner is Prez, the far-right can force him to choose a Teabagger for VP – Palin maybe. Then, impeach Boehner.

  7. Jeff’s already drunk, folks. Of course, Leftists are prone to extreme exaggeration and bombast normally, so, hard to tell.

Funny thing is, Joe Wilson was right.

What would we impeach Biden for, being a fool?

  8. Jeffery says:

Just trying to help Sarah dig a hole. And I forgot loony Steve Stockman. What a Speaker and President he’d make!

So are you saying the ACA does cover those here illegally, per Joe Wilson?
