Is this a new excuse, or a miss-mash of previous Excuseifying?
(phys.org) Heat stored in the western Pacific Ocean caused by an unprecedented strengthening of the equatorial trade winds appears to be largely responsible for the hiatus in surface warming observed over the past 13 years.
New research published today in the journal Nature Climate Change indicates that the dramatic acceleration in winds has invigorated the circulation of the Pacific Ocean, causing more heat to be taken out of the atmosphere and transferred into the subsurface ocean, while bringing cooler waters to the surface.
“Scientists have long suspected that extra ocean heat uptake has slowed the rise of global average temperatures, but the mechanism behind the hiatus remained unclear” said Professor Matthew England, lead author of the study and a Chief Investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science.
Good news, though
“But the heat uptake is by no means permanent: when the trade wind strength returns to normal – as it inevitably will – our research suggests heat will quickly accumulate in the atmosphere. So global temperatures look set to rise rapidly out of the hiatus, returning to the levels projected within as little as a decade.”
This is all very cute: they’ve managed to blame Mankind for increasing the temperature of the Atlantic, which super-charges the Pacific trade winds, causing the surface warmth to hide in the deep oceans (snicker), and this leads to fewer El Nino events, so, man is messing with natural events. But, hey, nature will eventually reassert itself, and we’ll all of a sudden have massive warming. Which is supposedly still caused by Mankind, ya know!
Cult.

It’s bad enough Conservatives have to fight against Democrats: we also have to fight against Establishment Republicans
The Grifting Wing v. The Governing Wing
While the Tea Party is busy lining their pockets, the rest of the Republicans are actually trying to get things done.
These kinds of internecine fights constantly occur within the Parties, though, with the Democrats, it is typically their base talking about how the elected members aren’t far enough left. Oh, and how they haven’t voted the base more money and stuff. In the GOP, the Conservatives will fight to get things done in a conservative manner, and note that many Establishment Republicans might as well be Democrats. Establishment Republicans act like Democrats, smearing Conservatives.
Over the last few years we have seen the rise of a new grifter—the political grifter. And the most important battle being waged today isn’t the one about which party controls the House or the Senate, it’s about who controls the Republican Party: the grifting wing or the governing wing.
Today’s political grifters are a lot like the grifters of old—lining their pockets with the hard-earned money of working men and women be promising things in return that they know they can’t deliver.
Political grifting is a lucrative business. Groups like the Club for Growth, FreedomWorks and the Tea Party Patriots are run by men and women who have made millions by playing on the fears and anger about the dysfunction in Washington. My former House colleague Chris Chocola is pocketing a half-million dollars a year heading the Club for Growth; same for Matt Kibbe heading up FreedomWorks (and I don’t think Kibbe’s salary includes the infamous craft beer bar that FreedomWorks donors ended up paying for). The Tea Party Patriots pay their head, Jenny Beth Martin, almost as much. These people have lined their pockets by promising that if you send them money, they will send men and women to Washington who can “fix it.†Of course, in the ultimate con, the always extreme and often amateurish candidates these groups back either end up losing to Democrats or they come to Washington and actually make the process even more dysfunctional.
How well does it play for Establishment Republicans to smear the Conservative base? Can’t be good for donations. Instead of attacking, perhaps Establishment Republicans should listen. But, hey!
Our beef isn’t with the rank and file Tea Party members, either. We understand their justifiable frustration with Washington. Our beef is with the grifters who run the organizations in Washington that are fleecing these hardworking men and women.
When you’re assaulting and insulting the groups themselves, going after Ted Cruz (which Latourette did), telling us we have to “compromise” (which seems to be code for “giving Democrats what they want and selling out the conservative principles you claim Establishment Republicans stand for), you are making your beef with the rank and file.
Paula Bolyard notes that Latourette is pretty familiar with what it means to be a grifter
LaTourette, the Chamber of Commerce, and their comrades who support special breaks and preferential treatment by the government for the rich and well-connected have exactly zero moral authority to lecture the likes of Jenny Beth Martin and Chris Chocola about their political influence. Their hypocrisy is laughable.
What LaTourette is really saying is that there are outsiders who more and more in Congress are listening to and there are insiders who Congress used to listen to and he wishes Congress would go back to listening to them. LaTourette’s firm made over a million dollars in 2013 and wants to be listened to.
Notice please that LaTourette never mentions two words: “voters†or “constituents.†He does not care about them. He cares about his profit and, in an act more and more common these days, projects his own sins onto others because it is the only way he understands them.
The Lonely Conservative notes that what Latourette really wants is all that Tea Party money in his own pocket.

At EPA Hearing, Religious Leaders Call Carbon Pollution ‘An Affront To God’
Speaking to three administrators for the Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday, David Kepley, an elder and deacon at the Providence Presbyterian Church, quoted Leviticus.
“God said ‘the land is mine; with me you are but aliens and tenants,’†he said. “‘Throughout the land that you hold, you shall provide for the redemption of the land.’â€
The verses, Kepley said, allude to several themes. For one, God has encouraged us not just to draw sustenance from the land, but to replenish it — to act as stewards of Creation. For another, the verses compare humans to “renters†in God’s house, meaning we can’t just trash God’s house with unmitigated pollution.
“To me this means that to be wasteful of the land’s bounty or to despoil it with substances that are harmful to people or other life forms is not just unproductive, but is an affront to God,†Kepley said. “In my view, the EPA has identified one of those areas where we humans have ignored our role as good stewards of the Creation.â€
On one hand, he’s right on Mankind’s role in protecting the environment, from a religious point of view. On the other hand, CO2 is not a pollutant, otherwise, why would God have created it? Why would God have allowed there to be higher CO2 concentrations during most of the Earth’s history?
I wonder if someone asked the good deacon Kepley how, exactly, he traveled from Providence, whichever one he’s from, along with the other 27 religious leaders? Anyone think they walked? Or took some sort of fossil fueled travel. Yeah, that last one is not a question.
“In the religious communities with which I work, people are heart-sick about the role of fossil fuels in producing the heat-trapping gases that are causing climate change,†said Joelle Novey, the director of Interfaith Power & Light, a non-profit that engages religious communities on climate issues. “They are working to reduce their electricity use in their sanctuaries and at home. They are climbing up on ladders to change to more efficient lightbulbs. They are working together to support clean energy through their energy bills.â€
Interfaith Power & Light covers the D.C. Maryland, and Northern Virginia area. Remember how the people in that area went ballistic the last few times they lost power from storms? They want their power.
Really, the whole thing is silly, but, unfortunately, growing, as hardcore Leftists infiltrate organized religion, embracing idiotic, non-scientific, Progressive political issues, and pushing them on their flocks and the public, attempting to say “this is what God wants”.
BTW, still not statistically significant warming over the past 17 years and 10 months.

Happy Sunday! Another gorgeous day in the Once And Future Nation Of America. This pinup is by Romain Hugault, with a wee bit of help. Make sure to check out his blog, some incredible artwork, focusing on WWII, and not just pinups.
What’s happening in Ye Olde Blogosphere? The Fine 15
As always, the full set of pinups can be seen in the Patriotic Pinup category, or over at my Gallery page. While we are on pinups, since it is that time of year, have you gotten your “Pinups for Vets†calendar yet? And don’t forget to check out what I declare to be our War on Women Rule 5 and linky luv posts and things that interest me
Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

So says a new report, via Memeorandum, through Crooks and Liars from Breitbart Unmasked , the last two being hyper-partisan Leftist sites, the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism released a “study” on law enforcement concerns over threats, and concludes
Law enforcement is much more concerned about sovereign citizens, Islamic extremists, and militia/patriot group members compared to the fringe groups of the far right, including Christian Identity believers, reconstructed traditionalists (i.e., Odinists), idiosyncratic sectarians (i.e., survivalists), and members of doomsday cults. In fact, sovereign citizens were the top concern of law enforcement, but the concern about whether most groups were a serious terrorist threat actually declined for most groups (e.g., the KKK; Christian Identity; Neo-Nazis; Racist Skinheads; Extremist Environmentalists; Extreme Animal Rights Extremists).
Here is the list of concerns from the PDF

Obviously, this means people on the right and Christians are a super duper concern, right? Have you even heard of “sovereign citizens” before? From the Wikipedia listing
The sovereign citizen movement is a loose grouping of American litigants, commentators, tax protesters and financial scheme promoters. Self-described sovereign citizens take the position that they are answerable only to their particular interpretation of the common law and are not subject to any statutes or proceedings at the federal, state, or municipal levels, or that they do not recognize U.S. currency and that they are “free of any legal constraints”.
Hmm, that part about “taking the position that they are answerable only to their particular interpretation of the common law…” seems to describe….Barack Obama, who thinks he is only answerable to the laws he wants to enforce! In fact, these people are the fringe of the fringe, and are not part of either the American political right nor left.
But, we shouldn’t be surprised by how the study attempts to Blame The Right, considering they use the phrase “ringe groups of the far right”, and put those who see themselves as Christians in the study as extremists.
Consider, though, that some of the top concern groups are left leaning. The KKK, neo-Nazis. extreme animal rightists, left wing revolutionaries (which would seemingly be most Progressives, including Obama), Black Nationalists, and, hey, look, extreme environmentalists. I wonder if that includes those who believe in climate change, especially since they are out and about protesting and making messes all the time.
The study was done under a DHS grant. Let’s not forget that, under Obama, DHS has released multiple studies that put the average freedom loving person on the political Right as extremists and threats. They’ve classified military veterans as threats. If you believe in the individual, believe in liberty, border control, limited federal government, the military, DHS considers you a threat.

And some say Skeptics, like myself, are crazy for thinking this whole thing is a left wing political push. Yesterday I noted the UN climate summit in September. Here comes more
(Socialist Alternative) In late September, world leaders will meet in New York City for another United Nations summit on climate change. With our future on the line, we will use this weekend to bend the course of history.
On Sunday, September 21st in New York City, there will be an unprecedented climate mobilization  – in size, beauty, and impact. Our demand is a world we know is within our reach: a world with an economy that works for people and the planet. In short, a world safe from the ravages of climate change.
Heads of state from around the world will be there, as will the attention of global media. This will likely be the largest environmental protest in history where we will have a historic opportunity to urge the world leaders to act.
That’s going to be a very big carbon footprint!
However, we know that every single global climate summit has failed miserably to solve the climate crisis. Â Every government refuses to play a leadership role, while blaming others. Almost all heads of state are unwilling to implement polices that challenge fossil fuel and automobile corporations out of fear of losing a competitive edge in the global capitalist system of competition for profits and power.
Assuming the world’s leaders fail to act once again, despite the urgent crisis facing the planet, we can still use this huge march to show that ordinary working-class people and young people, in our hundreds of thousands, have the power to take over the corporations ourselves and transition society to a democratically planned, environmentally sustainable economy.
Strange, it’s like they want to completely change the economy and institute a top down, government controlled one, planned by Leftists elitists and Government, where ultimate control rests in the hands of those two actors.
