Great Googly Moogly: Obama’s New Foreign Policy Doctrine Is “Strategic Patience”

This is apparently a real thing (via Twitchy)

(Foreign Policy)  Critics of President Barack Obama’s foreign policy have for years assailed his administration for responding too slowly to crises ranging from Syria to Russia. In a far-reaching blueprint released Friday that outlines the administration’s worldview, the White House insisted the United States is leading the global effort to confront challenges in a deliberate manner described as “strategic patience.”

The National Security Strategy, required by U.S. law, is intended to set the direction for the administration and communicate American intent to lawmakers, the public, and the world. It is Obama’s second such strategy, and likely last, before he leaves office in early 2017.

It aims to rebut criticism that he has consistently waited too long to respond to challenges like the rise of the Islamic State and Moscow’s military aggression in Ukraine, allowing the problems to worsen while his administration debated ways to act. And it represents a defiant defense of Obama’s leadership.

I really had thought we’d hit rock bottom with the Obama foreign policy makeup, kinda like a band that used to play in sold out stadiums reduced to playing seedy dive bars. Apparently, the band has now been reduced to playing midnight fraternity parties.

Researchers Claim Underwater Volcanoes Have Affect On Climate Change

Here’s one of those causes brought on by nature that have an effect on the climate

(UK Daily Mail) Volcanoes lurking hidden under the world’s oceans may play a far greater role in climate change than previously thought, according to a new study.

Scientists have found that underwater volcanoes, which were long assumed to ooze lava at relatively steady rates, in fact erupt in pulses.

A new study has shown that these submarine eruptions follow regular cycles that can range from just a couple of weeks to 100,000 years.

The researchers claim these eruptions appear to be linked to changes in the Earth’s orbit that occur over time.

Surprisingly the researchers also found that these eruptions also appear to be clustered during the first six months of each year.

The findings may now mean that models predicting how human activity will change the climate will need to be adjusted.

Wait, the models may be wrong? The hell you say!

This is certainly not the first bit of research regarding undersea volcanoes, and it won’t be the last. The reality of climate change is that most is caused by nature, just like has always occurred.

Underwater volcanoes are known to be widespread on the floor of the world’s oceans at joins in the tectonic plates.
Most are located in the deep ocean, where their activity can be difficult to measure, although some in shallow water can erupt with enough lava to create new islands. Others erupt with explosive results.

Make sure to read the article, too much info to excerpt. And, now, cue the true denialists, who’ll yammer on about Mankind and CO2 while, at the same time, refusing to give up their own big carbon footprints.

Poor Little Jihadi Was Bummed Over Lack Of Toilet Paper

Nothing worse than a whiny Islamic jihadi

(UK Daily Mail) A British extremist accused of faking his death to return to UK posed with a severed head in Syria – but moaned when he did not have enough toilet paper.

Imran Khawaja, 27, posed for the picture while with the Rayat al-Tawheed (RAT) insurgents to ‘create propaganda’ for Islamic State extremists.

But while in Syria, Khawaja also complained of not having enough toilet roll and sent a message to his co-accused Asim Ali asking for some ‘ASAP’, Woolwich Crown Court heard.

The horror! !!!!!!!

BTW, regarding the group he was part of

Many videos began with the Islamic declaration of faith ‘There is no God but Allah, Mohammed is the messenger of Allah,’ with background music glorifying Jihad and martyrdom.

Weird. Haven’t they heard that Obama and other Leftists say that ISIS isn’t really Islamic?

Other than the toilet paper thing, there is more evidence of how brutal these people are. Cue the left wing deflections.

Surprise: Indiana Democrat Proposes Allowing Certain Dead People To Vote

Of course, none of the articles actually mention that the State legislator proposing this is a Democrat

(Time) It’s difficult to vote if you’re dead. (Unless you live in Chicago. Or New York. Or Florida.) But an Indiana lawmaker is hoping to make election season a bit easier for the recently departed at least.

Indiana Rep. Matt Pierce proposed a bill taken up by the House Elections Committee Wednesday that would allow an absentee ballot from someone who dies before Election Day to be counted.

Democrat Matt Pierce was supposedly upset that former U.S. Rep. Frank McCloskey’s vote in 2004 (11 years later????) wasn’t counted, as McCloskey passed away from cancer prior to election day. Of course, there’s a wee bit of a problem with this scheme

(IndyStar) Indiana Election Division co-director Brad King says allowing such votes could violate a state constitutional requirement that a voter live in a precinct for 30 days before an election.

Seriously, is this a really big issue in Indiana, where people lose their vote by dying within 30 days of an election? Or, really, is this a serious issue for Democrats dying before elections? Of course, details matter, so it would be interesting to see how this bill is written. Does it block the checking of voter rolls against deaths, which would open the floodgates to lots of dead people voting?

Meanwhile, found while checking Pierce’s official website

An Indiana House Committee today passed legislation authored by State Rep. Sue Errington (D-Muncie) requiring professional massage therapists to be held accountable to the same standards of practice as other healthcare professionals.

The Indiana House Public Health Committee approved House Bill 1360 that establishes higher ethical and behavioral guidelines for therapeutic massage therapists.

“Professional massage therapists welcome more stringent regulation for their industry,” said Errington. “This legislation helps separate amateur therapists from those who are truly devoted to providing high-quality treatment to their patients.”

Interesting. If I had to guess, this is either about some massage therapist pissing off a bigshot Democrat, about regulating massage therapists heavily (because Dems love them some Big Government), and/or creating a way to manufacture new union membership. Also, it’s interesting that Democrats want to hold massage therapists to the “same standards of practice as other healthcare professionals”, yet, pitch a fit over requiring abortion providers to provide the same standards of practice as other healthcare professionals.

UNC Considers Banning App That Exposes Delicate Snowflakes To Mean Comments

Hmm, a very Left learning university full of Left leaning students is having a problem with “hate speech” on a smartphone app, so, hey, let’s consider blocking the app

(WRAL) The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is considering banning a smartphone app that some say encourages hate speech, but other schools say free speech among students needs to be promoted.

Yik Yak allows users post anonymously to a local bulletin board, and those posts can be seen only by people in a certain geographic area.

“People have been saying some very racist, very hurtful things,” said Ashley Winkfield, a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill who has kept a running tab of “yaks” that she finds troubling.

During the height of the “Black Lives Matter” protests on campus last fall, for example, one person posted, “I really hate blacks, I’m going home where there aren’t any.”

Another poster said, “the way blacks are acting right now kind of justify a slavery.”

Winkfield said the anonymous posts scare her and are making her increasingly distrustful.

Here’s an idea, which these same Leftists always throw out when someone complains about a TV program: turn it off. Don’t look at it. Delete the app. Or, how about, since these snowflakes are supposedly adults, fight back. Engage in conversation. Attempt to change minds.

“These are people we are going to class with, people who we see every day, and they might have some type of ill will toward us,” she said.

Strange, these people writing mean things and going to UNC tend to lean towards the Political Left.

Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Winston Crisp said UNC-Chapel Hill officials are examining options for dealing with Yik Yak.

“I think it adds little to no value to our community and creates more problems for our students than it will ever be worth,” Crisp said in a statement. “We want Carolina to be a place where people feel comfortable talking about race and other issues, and we are working hard to create opportunities for them to do that in a constructive and respectful way.”

In other words, they’re afraid of Free Speech, and want to shelter the snowflakes from having to deal with mean people (which often simply means people who have different views) like they’re 4 years old. The Real World isn’t always so nice. Even a small blogger like myself gets plenty of “hateful” comments and emails. I also get them on Twitter. I often delete them (email and blog comments). Or fight back. Or ignore them. Because no Internet jerk can do more than tick me off for a few seconds. They aren’t going to scare me personally, ruin my day, cause me to get an ulcer, or any of the other freakouts that seem common amongst the Left.

The way a “banning” would work would be for UNC to block the app through the campus WiFi, as was done at Utica College in New York and Norwich University in Vermont. The non-delicate snowflakes would still be able to access it via their mobile network.

“If we don’t believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don’t believe in it at all” Noam Chomsky

Obama Attempts Leftist Moral Equivalency at Prayer Breakfast

He, unshockingly, has a big problem in naming Islamic terrorism and extremism, but does trot out the leftist trope about those evil Christians

(AP) President Barack Obama condemned those who seek to use religion as a rationale for carrying out violence around the world, declaring Thursday that “no god condones terror.”

“We are summoned to push back against those who would distort our religion for their nihilistic ends,” Obama said during remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast. He singled out the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria, calling the militants a “death cult,” as well as those responsible for last month’s terror attacks in Paris and deadly assault on a school in Pakistan.

Lest you misread that “our religion” as him stating he is Muslim, he is referring to Christians

(Breitbart) At the National Prayer Breakfast, President Obama reminded attendees that violence rooted in religion isn’t exclusive to Islam, but has been carried out by Christians as well.

Obama said that even though religion is a source for good around the world, there will always be people willing to “hijack religion for their own murderous ends.”

“Unless we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ,” Obama said. “In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.”

Yes, things that happened hundreds and thousands of years ago. Christianity his primarily moved on. With Islam, there is an ever growing movement to regress back to the 7th and 8th century roots. Obama has gone to great lengths to refuse to link groups like ISIS (you know, they one whose name starts with “Islamic State”) to Islam, even going as far as proclaiming that he knows better than the Islamic State that the Islamic State isn’t Islamic.

This is standard boilerplate for Leftists, refusing to condemn radical Islam, creating strawman arguments to protect radical Islam, crying “Islamophobia!”, and then, in the next breath, slam Christianity for events that mostly occurred far in the past, and for which those on the Right will also condemn. And for those small incidents that occur during modern times based specifically on religion, we’ll condemn them, too.

Take for instance the talking point about Christians killing witches in Africa. Lefties want to blame the entire Christian religion for the actions of a bunch of regressive 3rd Worlders in 3rd world sh*tholes who misinterpreted the Bible on witches (“thou shall not suffer a witch to live”. The original meaning was “poisoner”, not witch, and was changed in the King James version). Lefties will blame the entire religion. Yet, they, along with Obama, can’t find it within themselves to even chide Islam for their ever-growing group of extremists, who stand in direct opposition, interestingly, to virtually everything Lefties stand for.

Let the deflections and strawmen begin.

PS: I missed the part where Obama specifically said “horrible things in Mohammed’s name”.

“Climate Change” Could Cause Less Snow, But More Extreme Storms

This sounds familiar. As I’ve noted multiple times, Warmists claimed that “climate change” would cause more tropical storms that would impact land, especially blowing a gasket after the big year of 2005. Almost immediately, tropical systems started drying up, with landfalling storms dropping considerably. Then they claimed that Hotcoldwetdry would mean that there would not necessarily be more hurricanes, but that they would be stronger. When that failed to materialize, they started saying that “climate change” was killing off hurricanes, causing them to do other things.

Climate change may fuel more extreme storms

Researchers at the University of Toronto linked climate change to an increase in large storm systems. To put it simply, warming temperatures globally lead to more moisture in the atmosphere through evaporation. That increases the potential for more historic storms like the Blizzard of 2015. The study went on to say that overall these “mega-storms” will happen less often, but when they do form, they could be more severe. Last week’s storm didn’t affect the East at all, but the potential is there for the East to be impacted by storms in the future.

Tom Rickenbach, an associate professor with the Department of Geography at ECU said this: “I think what we can expect is that when it does snow, we could get more snow. and the number of snow events may not increase, they actually may decrease, but when we get them, they could snow more.”

UK PM David Cameron: The ‘Disease’ Of Jihadist Extremism Is Spreading Worldwide

It’s nice to see that Cameron can actually say that this is Islamic extremism. He has seemed to recognize the threat from extremist Islam, which isn’t just from the violent ones, but also from those who are “mostly peaceful”, and want to replace our modern first world societies with their repressive, regressive, 7th century notions, and use our own laws, rules, and mores against us. Obama can’t even say it

(Newsmax) Obama on Tuesday called the killing of the pilot “one more indication of the viciousness and barbarity of this organization.”

The president avoided associating the militants with Islam. “It also just indicates the degree to which, whatever ideology they’re operating off of, it’s bankrupt,” Obama said.

It’s a simple concept: they are operating within the ideology of fundamentalist Islam. The quote is also available many other places, such as Politico, for those Leftists who want to question the delivery source.

(UK Daily Mail) The threat posed by the ‘disease’ of Islamic extremism will last for a generation, David Cameron warned today as he rejected claims Britain was not doing enough to take on ISIS.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, the Prime Minister insisted the government was doing all it could to ‘defeat the monstrosity of Isil’.

But he warned it would require ‘long-term determination and perseverance’ in a fight which might not end in his lifetime.

It requires two main things; first, the so called “moderate Muslims” will have to say “no more in my name”. We aren’t asking for an apology. They shouldn’t have to apologize for the way some within their religion act. But, they have to fight back. They are not being blamed, but, sadly, one does have to wonder about these moderate Muslims and what they really believe when so few will condemn the actions of hardcore Islam.

Second, it requires Leftists world wide to acknowledge the problem emanating from the Islamists. We’ve discussed this many times, noting that the Islamists stand against almost everything Leftists do, yet, most Leftists refuse to condemn Islamists, often trot out the notion that they really aren’t Islamic (contradicted directly by what groups like ISIS, al Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood, and others say and write), and typically like to deflect to “hey, Christians did something bad!!!!!!!”. That last one is an interesting argument for two reasons

  1. Killings and bad actions from Christians are rarely done in the name of God and/or Jesus
  2. They are blaming the entire Christian religion for the actions of a few, but freak out when anyone condemns the hardcore Islamists, saying it is wrong to blame all Muslims (which isn’t usually what is being blamed).

Back to Cameron

He insisted countering the threat was about more than just military action. ‘We have got to go after the hate preachers, we’ve got to go after the radicalisation.

‘We have got to stop people travelling to Syria, we have got to prosecute those who have been and been radicalised and would do us harm.

‘You have seen actually a big growth in the number of people in Britain who have been prosecuted and convicted for Islamist extremist violence ’And we need to keep up our guard.’

Mr Cameron has read detailed reports of the latest video, in which al-Kassasbeh was set alight, but he has not actually watched it in full.

He did, however, view the footage of British hostages being beheaded last year.

‘These videos are absolutely horrific and depraved,’ the Prime Minister said.

‘And obviously I take the time to make sure I take the time to see what they are doing so I understand what families have been going through.’

Asked if Britain would be free of the jihadist threat in his lifetime, he admitted it was a battle which would last many years.

‘I think the threat of Islamist extremism is a threat that we are going to face throughout this generation.

‘It is going to be years rather than months.’

The threat from the Islamists has always been around, but has been truly growing as the world modernized, travel and relocation became easy, and societies started implementing “diversity” and “multiculturalism”, allowing the hardcore Muslims to spread with ease within 1st World nations, again, using our own laws, rules, and societal mores against us. Any complaint is called “Islamophobia”. They do all they can to restrict speech.

While ISIS could be defeated eventually in Iraq and Syria, the ‘disease’ of Islamic extremism is spreading around the world and is harder to contain, he warned.

‘What we have seen with Islamist extremism whether it is in Mali or Somalia or Afghanistan is that the disease is not necessarily the individual country.

‘The disease is the Islamist extremism and that’s what we have to fight, that’s the narrative that we have to beat.

The violent Muslims are an immediate danger. The ones who are spreading through softer means are a threat to the later, as they change our systems.
