The latest big talking point from the Cult of Climastrology is about Hotcoldwetdry causing shorter growing seasons maybe possibly in The Future. Here’s one of the nuttier missives on the subject, which has the exact headline I used
(TakePart) While the grow-your-own ethos has gained popularity in the United States in recent years, for many people around the globe, having a garden is not a matter of choice. Because in many places it’s still your backyard, not the grocery store, that provides the bulk of your food. Globally, 70 percent of the food supply comes from smallholder farms—and if climate change continues unabated, those subsistence growers may be the ones most dramatically affected.
A new study published Wednesday in the journal PLOS One looked at how a changing climate will reshape the growing calendar come 2100. Under “business as usual†climate-change projections, the researchers determined that the number of “suitable growing days†will drop by 11 percent, on average, around the world—and far more in certain regions. The tropics allow for a year-round growing season, but the climate-change impacts on temperature, drought, and solar radiation could cut 200 days from the farming calendar.
If if if if if. More doomsaying from the Cult, based on faulty computer models
and wishful thinking, forgetting that previous warm periods had excellent agricultural production, as has this current warm period. Sure, warmth can cause issues, as we saw during the 1930’s, when it was warmer than today. Prior to data “adjustments”.
Of course, anthropogenic causation hasn’t been proven.

Certain residents of Baltimore wanted a lighter police presence, and got what they wished for. Police are now mostly being reactive, rather than proactive, which had previously helped hold down the violence which had made Baltimore safer than just 3% of American cities, with a violent crime rate almost four times the nation average
(Baltimore Sun) Baltimore police announced the arrests of two men in the death of a 16-year-old girl and the indictments of 11 members of a suspected drug crew they say might be responsible for some of the violence that has roiled the city in recent weeks.
The arrests and indictments come as police face criticism amid a surge of shootings and killings since the arrest of Freddie Gray. The 25-year-old Baltimore man died in April after suffering a severe spinal cord injury in police custody.
“We are in the battle,” police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts said Thursday. “You can see we are in the battle, and we’re showing you we are in the battle and we’re taking this very seriously.”
The city recorded 42 homicides in May — the deadliest month in 25 years — and has started June with 14 more.
The two men arrested are serious scumbags, having broken in to the home, sexually assaulting her, then strangling her with an electrical cord. All for a score of $40, a laptop, and an iPad. Then they set her body and the house on fire. You’ll have to read the rest of the article to see how “evil” these guys were, as Police Maj. Stanley Bradford called their motive. The girl knew these two scumbags, and had been hanging out with them. She had even talked to Dixon just a few hours prior.
This is life in Baltimore. Homicides and shootings, along with robberies and auto thefts, are way up in Baltimore post-Freddie Gray funeral, arrests way down. And it doesn’t help that the community is less engaged with police. The dangerous situation to police in these neighborhoods with the high crime has required the Baltimore PD to double up officers, meaning a systematic decrease in police coverage.
Around the nation, communities and police departments are struggling to adapt to an era of heightened scrutiny, when every stop can be recorded on a cellphone. But residents, clergy members and neighborhood leaders say the past six weeks have made another reality clear: that as much as some officers regularly humiliated and infuriated many who live here, angering gang members and solid citizens alike, the solution has to be better policing, not a diminished police presence.
Funny, most articles and preachings fail to mention what their ideas for better policing are. Most tend to be squishy feel good Kumbaya notions that fail to reduce crime. They also fail to mention what they will do to get the people in their neighborhoods to be less criminal.

America’s war on Black girls: Why McKinney police violence isn’t about “one bad appleâ€
Many have been quick to dismiss or make excuses for the shocking video out of Texas. Here’s the truth of the matterIn just over two months, we will commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, a natural disaster that ravaged communities along the Gulf Coast. This tragedy was made infinitely worse not only by decades of governmental neglect and far-ranging poverty, but also by the fact that so many Black people could not swim.
That nearly 60 percent of Black people cannot swim is directly attributable to decades of segregated pool facilities in this country. While that problem ostensibly went away with the desegregation efforts of the mid-20th century, de facto segregation of pool facilities persists to this day, because community pools are now largely private amenities in suburban neighborhoods that many Black youth don’t have access to.
Got that? Even though segregation ended long ago, by law, it’s the fault of White People not allowing Blacks to swim in their pools. Because there wouldn’t be massive lawsuits and stuff if they were denied access to a public pool. Interestingly, so many of these areas with public pools where Blacks live are in Deep Democrat areas, so, this means that Democrats are racists and want Black girls, and boys, to die. Let’s also not forget that, during the era of Jim Crow and through the 60’s, the areas that had segregation were Democrat areas.
In fact, swimming skills are sorely lacking in all races in the US. I grew up at the beach, and swam competitively through high school, and continued surfing for decades, though I’d say my swimming skills aren’t what they used to be. But, I can tread for a long time, and swim plenty of laps still. I also taught swimming when I was younger. These skills are ones I’d say most need, and, perhaps instead of spending time on worthless leftist endeavors at school, time could be spent teaching swimming skills. Of course, since Democrats have made majority-minority urban areas so dangerous with their soft on crime policies, pool might not be particularly safe.
White people in the aggregate value the “safety†of their private, segregated, residential spaces far more than they value a system of policing that protects and values all lives equally. It is clear that the anxiety that many white suburban residents feel about having their communities “overrun†by Black people feels far more “traumatizing†to them than having to stand idly by while a few teens get roughed up by the police. If the cost of making white people safe is more than a few Black communities being systematically traumatized and made always to feel unsafe, then so be it. The notion of white safety has its foundations in Indigenous, Black and Brown unsafety. Until white people begin to question the violent origins of such a concept, the police will continue in the name of “white safety†to go around terrorizing communities of color, mostly with impunity.
Let’s get very un-PC for a moment: why are Whites always supposed to give up their values? Why must they always pay the price? Why are we not allowed to advocate for our own safety? Why is it that only other races, in particular Blacks, are allowed to protect their own race?
…are super awesome trees that will soon be killed by the rising seas, you might just be a Warmist

As Allahpundit notes “It’s three minutes long, which is about six times longer than an effective ad should be, but the length works here to underscore the point. Those long seconds of silence when someone’s asked to name a Clinton accomplishment feel even longer when you watch a string of people struggling with the question. It’s excruciating.”
Allapundit is predicting that Fiorina will jump up to double digits at some point. Whether that comes to anything, we’ll see. No one was really giving Obama a chance in 2008, everyone thought it would be either Hillary or John Edwards. But, this is the kind of stuff the other GOP candidates, and the national GOP, should be doing. Carly understands the Internet better than all of them.

George Monbiot is one of the more rabid members of the Cult of Climastrology, but, today, he writes something that offers a sense of sanity
Stop using China as an excuse for inaction on climate change
Invoking Yellow Peril tropes over China’s carbon footprint fails to recognise the fact its energy use is tied to our consumption, the country’s coal demand is dropping and Chinese people care more about climate than we doChina is the world’s excuse for cruelty and barbarism. If we don’t behave atrociously, politicians and columnists assure us, China will, so we had better do it first, before we are outcompeted.
You want holidays, collective bargaining rights and fair conditions in the workplace? Forget it. When Chinese workers have none, such fripperies would “hamper British/US/Australian/Canadian industryâ€, making it uncompetitive. (snip)
You want your rivers, air and wildlife protected? What planet are you on? China, we are told, doesn’t give a damn for such luxuries, with the result that if we don’t abandon our own regulations, it will take over the world.
On no topic are these claims made more often than on climate change. What is the point of limiting our greenhouse gas emissions, a thousand bloggers (and a fair few politicians) insist, if China is building a new power station every two weeks (or days or minutes or whatever the latest hyperbole suggests)? Taking action on climate change is useless and stupid in the face of the Chinese threat.
He’s making a good case for action despite China. Certainly, we work hard for clean air, water, and land despite the horrendous environmental issues in China. But, here’s the thing, let’s take this “we can act on “climate change” despite China” to its logical conclusion: members of the Cult of Climastrology can act within their own lives despite others not following those beliefs. There’s no need for draconian rules, regulations, and laws, when Warmists can easily put their beliefs in practice, giving up the use of fossil fuels, only buying local, forgoing the use of hair dryers and ice makers, turning the heat down to 55 and keeping the AC at 85. Take two minute showers, only use 2 sheets of TP. Install solar panels on their domiciles, unplug all appliances not in use (vampire energy). Go completely carbon neutral.
Warmists are always talking about the need to act “collectively”, for everyone to be forced to be involved. By saying we should ignore China, this means that Warmists should act on their own for the betterment of the planet!
There is no scope for moral superiority in the climate talks, least of all a moral superiority based on unfounded national stereotypes. Collectively, we are wrecking the delicate atmospheric balance that has allowed human civilisation to flourish. Collectively, we have to sort this out. And it will happen only by taking responsibility for our impacts, rather than by blaming other nations for what we don’t want to do.
And, the notion of the collective rears its ugly head in the last paragraph. What George really wants are those same draconian laws, rules, and regs, based on CoC talking points, to be passed and implemented by the British government, and, presumably, other nation’s governments, despite China, to force us all to live the life espoused in Warmist talking points.

Especially you members of the Cult of Climastrology. So says Oliver Burkeman
We’re all climate change deniers at heart
At yesterday’s summit in Bavaria, the G7 leading industrial nations agreed to phase out fossil fuels by the end of the century. It’s easy to be cynical about these things, but these official goals really matter. And one big reason is this: in the absence of intergovernmental action, we are hopelessly ill-equipped to deal with this problem as individuals.
In fact, if a cabal of evil psychologists had gathered in a secret undersea base to concoct a crisis humanity would be hopelessly ill-equipped to address, they couldn’t have done better than climate change. We’ve evolved to respond more vigorously to threats that are immediate and easy to picture mentally, rather than those that are distant and abstract; we’re more sensitive to intentional threats from specific humans, rather than unintentional ones resulting from collective action; we’re terrible at making small sacrifices in the present to avoid vast ones in future; our attention is seized by phenomena that change daily, rather than those that ratchet up gradually over years.
And should it dawn on us that our behaviours don’t match our beliefs – that we’re not doing our bit to save the planet, even though we think we should – we find it far easier to adjust the belief (downgrading the importance of climate change) than the behaviour (flying less, having fewer children).
Got that? By failing to match your lives with your (supposed) belief sets, Warmists are really denying that they believe in climate change caused mostly/solely by the actions of Mankind.
Go back to the first paragraph, though, and notice the Progressive (nice fascist) doctrine: Government must be allowed the power to force citizens to comply with the Cult’s beliefs. Each and every day the Warmists expose their agenda, along with their hypocrisy.
