Good News: We’re All Deniers

Especially you members of the Cult of Climastrology. So says Oliver Burkeman

We’re all climate change deniers at heart

At yesterday’s summit in Bavaria, the G7 leading industrial nations agreed to phase out fossil fuels by the end of the century. It’s easy to be cynical about these things, but these official goals really matter. And one big reason is this: in the absence of intergovernmental action, we are hopelessly ill-equipped to deal with this problem as individuals.

In fact, if a cabal of evil psychologists had gathered in a secret undersea base to concoct a crisis humanity would be hopelessly ill-equipped to address, they couldn’t have done better than climate change. We’ve evolved to respond more vigorously to threats that are immediate and easy to picture mentally, rather than those that are distant and abstract; we’re more sensitive to intentional threats from specific humans, rather than unintentional ones resulting from collective action; we’re terrible at making small sacrifices in the present to avoid vast ones in future; our attention is seized by phenomena that change daily, rather than those that ratchet up gradually over years.

And should it dawn on us that our behaviours don’t match our beliefs – that we’re not doing our bit to save the planet, even though we think we should – we find it far easier to adjust the belief (downgrading the importance of climate change) than the behaviour (flying less, having fewer children).

Got that? By failing to match your lives with your (supposed) belief sets, Warmists are really denying that they believe in climate change caused mostly/solely by the actions of Mankind.

Go back to the first paragraph, though, and notice the Progressive (nice fascist) doctrine: Government must be allowed the power to force citizens to comply with the Cult’s beliefs. Each and every day the Warmists expose their agenda, along with their hypocrisy.

I have hammered these guys mercilessly for a couple years now. They have no plan.

So the bar keeps moving. A couple years ago the IPCC said in 20 years or were doomed…Just this year they said…we do not have the technology to end fossil fuels in 20 years.

So move the bar…Now they are much more realistically talking about 85 years from now.

Like I have said from the beginning. I do not care WHO makes the money creating power to feed and power the world….I only want to be sure the world is fed and powered before we just jump off a cliff hoping that the parachute we made out of fish net works.

Which is something we’ve said all along, though my personal formulation is that, due to their (in)actions, I have a difficult time believing that the warmists take their own arguments seriously.

Jeffrey? He probably does, and perhaps he has gone all Ed Begley and is really, really trying to cut his CO2 emissions personally, but most of them seem to show no inclination at all to sacrifice anything in their own life styles.

Electing leaders that compel all Americans to decrease their carbon pollution. Helps more than any one individual effort
By having our government demand increases in vehicle mpg by compelling utilities to use a smarter grid for power
The USA can and has reduced our overall carbon footprint

  3. John says:

Teach when you live your life 109% according to your beliefs we will see you fighting ISIS
Perfection will not be found on this world, perhaps on the next
When we all do a little grest things can be accomplished
The USA is already decreasing its carbon footprint
Teach probably you are also decreasing your carbon footprint

The absolute epitome of a progressive….COMPEL Americans to do X or Y or Z….depending upon which party is in charge.

How about we elect officials that COMPEL Americans to stop getting Abortions? Or Compel Americans to not be GAY or Compel Americans to drive only Gas Guzzing SUVS?

You see how this works……AS LONG as the Government COMPELS Americans to do WHAT YOU AGREE WITH…..its all well and good…but the minute a leader COMPELS Americans to do something YOU disagree with…….well its time for the Astro-turfers to unite.

I understand you will never grasp this concept but you should really becareful what you wish for….One day this country might turn all Conservative on you and all that stuff you think is so EVIL….might be COMPELED ON YOU.
