Joe Lieberman Blasts Iran Deal, Says Schumer Is Key To Stopping It

Since the Iran deal was announced, leaders in Iran, including Ayatollah Khamenei, have been tweeting and yammering about death to America, death to Israel on a constant basis. Khamenei just sent a tweet featuring Obama with a gun to his head. There have been threats, along with rejoicing that Iran won. And Iran has stated that this deal won’t change Iran’s stance towards the U.S. in the least. Joe Leiberman doesn’t’ think too much about the deal, and wants it stopped

(The Hill) Former Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) is pressuring a top Senate Democrat to buck the Obama administration on its Iran nuclear deal to ensure a safer future for Israel.

Lieberman, the Senate’s first Orthodox Jew, blasted the agreement with Iran on “The Cats Roundtable” with host John Catsimatidis on New York’s AM 970.

He said the deal could be effectively blocked with the help of Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.).

“I think it opens the way for a lot of other Democrats to oppose it as well,” Lieberman said of his longtime colleague, who is also Jewish. “Chuck is the key.”

Schumer, who is likely to become the Senate’s next top Democrat, faces a major dilemma over the nuclear deal. He is both a key ally to both Israel and the White House, facing pressure from both sides on the deal.

Mr. Leiberman wrote an op-ed in the Hartford Courant on July 19th, saying how bad this deal is and that they should start again. And that was prior to knowledge of two side deals coming to light. Surely, there are other side deals. And what Senator Schumer, and other elected Democrats, must consider is that Obama and Kerry are gone come January 20, 2017, yet this deal will still be there, with all the consequences, and so will Schumer and other elected Democrats. If they choose to allow this really, really, really bad deal to stand, the consequences are on them.

In the Washington Post, Carl Bernstein has written about two biographies of Richard Nixon and his “tormented path”. Bernstein isn’t impressed with the books, and writes

Newly released Nixon tapes, recently declassified oral histories of his aides (especially those of the mysterious Thomas Charles Huston) and previously withheld portions of H.R. Haldeman’s diaries illuminate as never before that Vietnam and Watergate are inextricably linked in the Nixon presidency. Nixon conducted the Vietnam War and presided over the crimes of Watergate with the same ruthless mind-set, scorched-earth sensibility and disdain for established governmental institutions and their proper functioning. Not to mention paranoia, chaos and recklessness.

Remember what the Articles of Impeachment for Nixon covered. Obstruction of justice, 9 difference charges. Abuse of power, 5 points, including the notation that he failed to follow the Oath of Office for the POTUS. Contempt of Congress, for failing to respond to subpoenas. Why is this relevant? Put into perspective Nixon’s actions. Consider the freakout over 18 minutes of missing recording tape. Then consider what Andrew McCarthy writes

Congress Must Hold Obama Accountable for His Deception Over Iran
By lying and withholding information about the agreement, he gives aid and comfort to America’s enemy.

McCarthy lays out his case, and, if we compare this to Nixon’s actions, we can easily see that what Obama has done, with just the Iran deal, Obama’s actions are considerably worse than Nixon’s. Did Nixon give aid and comfort to America’s enemies? No. Team Obama knows of the side deals, ones which will not be submitted to Congress, in violation of law. 18 minutes of tape? Pfft. Grade school shenanigans in comparison.

Now consider this: Under cover of this IAEA ruse, Obama ran to the Security Council and rammed through a resolution commencing implementation of his Iran deal before Congress or the American people could consider it. He thus undermined American sovereignty and the Constitution by scheming to impose an international-law fait accompli. And he thus undermined American national security by transferring his inspection commitments to an international agency that he knows is not close to being capable of executing them — an agency that will be further hampered by notice restrictions that, as Charles Krauthammer concludes, render the inspections “farcical” in any event.

The Constitution forbids providing aid and comfort to America’s enemies. And the Framers’ notion that a president would be punishable for deceiving Congress regarding the conduct of foreign affairs meant that lawmakers would be obliged to use their constitutional powers to protect the United States — not merely shriek on cable television as if they were powerless spectators.

Well?

At the end of the day, Obama has made U.S. security weaker, and has simply kicked the can for a nuclear armed Iran down the road, while making sure that Iran is flush with cash to spend on their terrorism programs.

Hillary Clinton Says We Totally Need To Reinvent Capitalism

Interestingly, not to solve “climate change”. She just wants to blow up capitalism overall. Now that she got her big pay day

(The Blaze) Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said capitalism must be “reinvented” during an economic address where she condemned the pursuit of short-term profits at the expense of long-term prosperity.

Delivering remarks at New York University, Clinton decried “quarterly capitalism.”

“I’m looking for new, creative, innovative, disruptive ideas that will save capitalism for the 21st century because it is the greatest engine of economic opportunity and potential that has ever been invented,” Clinton said. “It is one of the great accomplishments of the American political and economic history. It created the opportunity that so many generations of Americans took advantage of and that led to the creation of the middle class, the extraordinary economic accomplishment of our country.”

So, the lady who’s earned who knows how many millions running her shady foundation, and has lived the high life, wants to reign in Other People. She and her family charge exorbitant fees for making short speeches.

California To Target Group Who Shot Planned Parenthood Videos

No announcement as to whether Planned Parenthood will be reviewed. This is an AP article, but, amazingly, it is in the health and fitness section of ABC7 in Los Angeles (obviously, the article is at lots of other news outlets)

CALIFORNIA TO REVIEW VIDEO TARGETING PLANNED PARENTHOOD

California Attorney General Kamala Harris said Friday that she plans to review two undercover videos released by anti-abortion activists aimed at discrediting Planned Parenthood’s procedures for providing fetal tissue to researchers, to see if any laws were broken.

Harris announced the move in a letter to four Democratic members of Congress who had requested an investigation, saying she’ll use her office’s authority to regulate charity organizations to see if the organization that made the videos violated registration or reporting requirements, or broke any other rules. Harris, a Democrat, plans to run for the U.S. Senate in 2016.

“We will carefully review the allegations raised in your letter to determine whether there were any violations of California law,” Harris said in the letter to four members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

She said her office will look into “allegations that individuals impersonated corporate officials from a fake biologics company, resulting in the release of secretly filmed videos of Planned Parenthood physicians without their consent.”

Democrats are Very Concerned over an undercover group exposing Planned Parenthood, but not that PP officials were offering to sell aborted baby tissue and everything else that went with the videos. Then again, they aren’t concerned with abortions in the first place. This is, once again, political targeting by elected Democrats. Go after the whistle blowers. Investigate the exposers, not the wrong doers.

Things Named After Robert Byrd Are Instruments Of Racial Terror

Confederate Memorials as Instruments of Racial Terror

The Confederate-flag-waving white supremacist charged with murdering nine African-Americans in a Charleston, S.C., church in June demolished the fiction that the flag was an innocuous symbol of “Southern pride.” This barbaric act made it impossible for politicians to hide from the fact that the Confederate banner has been a rallying symbol embraced by racists, night riders and white supremacy groups dating back to the 19th century.

This long-denied truth applies as well to Confederate memorials that occupy public space all over the South. Most were erected in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when the Southern states were eagerly dismantling the rights and liberties that African-Americans had enjoyed just after the Civil War, during Reconstruction. These states unleashed a racialized reign of terror and shored up white supremacy by rewriting their Constitutions to disqualify African-Americans from full citizenship.

Interestingly, there have been few complaints about these monuments and such over the previous decades. Most just choose to ignore them. Heck, most probably did not even notice them. Double heck, thanks to our wonderful public education system, most probably had no idea who the people were. But, hey, terrifying! Dead people as well as symbols from a movement long defeated, one which was backed and run mostly by members of the Democratic Party.

Why is there no concern over the racial overtones in the name “Democratic Party”, a political party based on systematized racism?

Not all monuments warrant that kind of challenge. But those honoring the Confederate general Nathan Bedford Forrest deserve the backlash they have generated. Forrest presided over the 1864 massacre of Union soldiers, many of them black, at Fort Pillow in Tennessee. He was also a prominent slave trader and served as the first grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

Apologists argue that his involvement with the Klan was unimportant because he later adopted more enlightened views. But as the Forrest biographer Jack Hurst writes, by lending his name to the K.K.K. even temporarily, the general accelerated its development. “As the Klan’s first national leader,” Mr. Hurst writes, “he became the Lost Cause’s avenging angel, galvanizing a loose collection of boyish secret social clubs into a reactionary instrument of terror still feared today.”

Interesting. Sounds rather similar to Robert Byrd, a high ranking member in and recruiter for the KKK, who voted numerous times against civil rights legislation, and made many, many racist pronouncements, eh? Is it not high time to remove his terrifying name from all the buildings that bear his name? Should his name be on several federal buildings? On roads and bridges? Does his name not cause terror to those whose ancestors bore the brunt of slavery and racial segregation? Those who suffered under the brutal hand of the KKK? No, this is not being sarcastic or hyperbolic. The man was a racist and high ranking member of the KKK, who recruited people to join the KKK. And was fully embraced by the Democratic Party. Both should be expunged. If statues and monuments to people long dead are terrifying, so should be anything linked to the Democratic Party and Robert Byrd.

The Link Between Climate Change And ISIS Is Totes Real, You Guys!

Obviously, there is zero link between the rise of ISIS and Islam. Because that would be silly

(Think Progress) Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley linked climate change to the rise of ISIS earlier this week. Conservatives pounced. Score this round for O’Malley.

For three years now, leading security and climate experts — and Syrians themselves — have made the connection between climate change and the Syrian civil war. Indeed, when a major peer-reviewed study came out on in March making this very case, Retired Navy Rear Admiral David Titley said it identifies “a pretty convincing climate fingerprint” for the Syrian drought.

That last part should make John happy.

Anyhow, nowhere within the the long, boring, repetitive article do they even mention the word Islam, except as part of ISIS’s name.

Nor do they recommend that Warmists stop using so much fossil fuel and go carbon neutral.

Bummer: Arctic Climate Expedition Blocked By Heavy Ice

So sad….oh, wait, right, heavy ice is now also caused by man-induced climate change (via Newsbusters)

(CBC) A carefully planned, 115-day scientific expedition on board the floating research vessel, the CCGS Amundsen, has been derailed as the icebreaker was called to help resupply ships navigate heavy ice in Hudson Bay.

“Obviously it has a large impact on us,” says Martin Fortier, executive director of ArcticNet, which coordinates research on the vessel. “It’s a frustrating situation.”

During the summer, the Amundsen operates as a floating research centre with experiments running 24 hours a day. This year it was scheduled to reach North Baffin Bay.

But the icebreaker has been rerouted to escort commercial ships en route to resupply communities in Northern Quebec on the eastern side of Hudson Bay.

Johnny Leclair, assistant commissioner for the Coast Guard, said Tuesday conditions in the area are the worst he’s seen in 20 years.

As Newsbusters P.J. Gladnick points out that the article forgot to actually point out what said expedition was about, because, you know, that would be rather embarrassing

So exactly WHAT was the purpose of that 115-day scientific expedition in which the CCGS Amundsen was supposed to act as research vessel? CBC News is apparently too embarrassed to tell us so let us check in with Kossack MarineChemist, the screen name of Jay T. Cullen who when not posting on that far left site is Associate Professor of marine chemistry at the University of Victoria in British Columbia:

Man Surrounded By People Carrying Guns Bummed He Can’t Take Guns Away From Law Abiding Citizens

It’s his biggest frustration

Obama admits US gun laws are his ‘biggest frustration

President Barack Obama has admitted that his failure to pass “common sense gun safety laws” in the US is the greatest frustration of his presidency.

In an interview with the BBC, Mr Obama said it was “distressing” not to have made progress on the issue “even in the face of repeated mass killings”.

He vowed to keep trying, but the BBC’s North America editor Jon Sopel said the president did not sound very confident.

His problem is that the legislation he wants would mostly restrict law abiding citizens from purchasing guns. It would really not make a dent in the number of people who have guns illegally and use them. He, like other Democrats, wants to deny citizens the use of firearms for protection, even as he surrounds himself with a large number of armed people for his protection.

Most of the legislative proposals from Obama and Democrats will simply harm the law abiding citizens who purchase firearms, and wouldn’t affect the criminal elements running around the streets of liberal cities in the least.

However, Mr Obama said race relations had improved during his presidency.

Except, most polls, including a just released poll, say the opposite.

But with just 18 months left in power, he said gun control was the area where he has been “most frustrated and most stymied” since coming to power in 2009.

“If you look at the number of Americans killed since 9/11 by terrorism, it’s less than 100. If you look at the number that have been killed by gun violence, it’s in the tens of thousands,” Mr Obama said.

By percentage, the major portion occurs in Democrat cities, and amongst the Black population. Murder and firing a gun at another person is already illegal. Will these criminals suddenly decide to follow the law? Of course not. But, Dem gun control pushes would disarm the people who need the guns for protection from the rampant criminality in Liberal cities.

Of course, Obama doesn’t seem too concerned with the tens of thousands of criminal illegal aliens that ICE has released back on to the streets, rather than deporting them. He wasn’t concerned enough to pick up the phone to call the family of Kathryn Steinle, killed by an illegal alien with an illegal gun. Nor is he concerned about Iran getting nuclear weapons at the end of his short term deal. Nor Iran increasing it’s support for terrorists once it becomes flush with cash from the removal of sanctions.

Hey, remember how Obama became so upset after Operation Fast And Furious came to light, where people who work for him ran guns into Mexico, lost track of them, never bothered informing the Mexican government, and hundreds have been killed and wounded, including children? Oh, right, he was upset that Republicans wanted F&F investigated, and did all he could to stonewall investigations.
