Cult Of Climastrology: Liberals Totally Support Expanded Government That “Deliver Concrete Results”

I can’t decide whether this article by hyper-Progressive and Warmist Jonathan Chait highlights the idiocy of the Cult of Climastrology or liberals overall, so, let’s go with both

People Who Were Certain Climate Change Is Fake Are Now Certain That Paris Can’t Stop It

The most unintentionally revealing commentary on the Paris climate agreement came from National Review senior editor David Pryce-Jones. “I know next to nothing about the technicalities of the subject, but caught on television news bulletins great wafts of hot air,” he confessed. “It was highly enjoyable to hear President Obama claiming to be saving the planet that his foreign policy has done much to endanger … You don’t have to be a cynic to think that most countries, China and India in the lead, are never going to do anything that might harm their economic development, nor will rich countries commit economic suicide.” This was a real-time window into the conservative mind processing the Paris climate agreement, beginning from a point of frank incomprehension of (and lack of interest in) any specifics of the issue, and proceeding immediately to the conviction that the deal would fail.

The problem, to start off, particularly the headline, is that this is a falsehood: Skeptics do not say that climate change is fake. Au contraire, we understand that the climate is always going to change. What we are debating is the causation. The world has warmed since the end of the Little Ice Age. Heck, there are even some skeptics called luke warmers who think that Mankind is responsible for at least 51% of the warming, but that we are in no way doomed. And, I’ll argue with anyone who says there has been no warming since 1850. And called them pure idiots.

But, let’s not forget that there are many Warmists, such as James Hansen, who say that the Paris agreement won’t stop ‘climate change’.

Then we jump into politics overall, and this is a real hoot

Conservative economic thought is structurally different from liberal thought. Liberal support for expanded government is based entirely in practical expectation that new programs can deliver concrete results — cleaner air, healthier children, higher wages for low-income workers, and so on. Conservative antipathy to expanded government is based ultimately on philosophical opposition. For that reason, data can change liberal economic thinking in a way it can’t change conservative economic thinking. Liberals would abandon, say, new environmental regulations if evidence persuaded them the program was not actually improving the environment, because bigger government is merely the means to an end. No evidence could persuade conservatives to support new environmental regulations, because conservatives consider small government a worthy end for itself. (As Milton Friedman once put it, “Freedom in economic arrangements is itself a component of freedom broadly understood, so economic freedom is an end in itself.”)

Obviously, we know what he writes about why liberals support bigger government is a lie, as is the lie about concrete results. The only programs liberals want to do away with are national security ones, which actually show concrete results, unlike the majority of programs liberals want.

Liberals have been given endless facts, particularly, in this case, on ‘climate change’, and they refuse to change their minds. They can’t even prove their own theories on climate change as hard facts, yet still refuse to change their minds. Instead, they just change the data/results.

Of course, ‘climate change’ has nothing to do with the environment. Give us fact based reasons, and we’ll support them. The thing is, we do not trust the motivations of Leftists pushing them. I bet support for universal background checks for gun purchases would poll near 100% amongst Conservatives. We know we’ll pass them. But, we also know that they are just a death by 1000 papercuts step for what Leftists want regarding banning private ownership of guns. The Environmental Protection Act, the Clean Air Act, and other similar laws are supported by Conservatives (oh, BTW, let’s not forget which side leaves the grounds around demonstrations cleaner than when they got there and which one leaves it an utter mess). We’re concerned with mission creep. Leftists always want a little bit more government power and control.

Surprise! Many Muslims Did Celebrate 9/11

There’s no doubt that many, many Muslims around the world were celebrating and dancing in the street when America was attacked on September 11, 2001. But, did they celebrate here in the US?

(NJ.com)  In the weeks since Donald Trump ignited a firestorm by claiming “thousands and thousands” of Muslims in Jersey City cheered the fall of the twin towers on 9/11, elected officials, religious leaders and a former state attorney general denied the existence of celebrations in the city that day.

Media outlets, after scouring archived news stories and video footage, could not find verified accounts of Jersey City Muslims rejoicing.

Please understand, I am not posting this to defend Donald Trump. While he has a few policy positions I support, I in no way want him to be president. I’d rather see ultra-squishy Jon Huntsman before Trump. But, he did have a point, despite it being overblown. Oh, and did the same media spend as much time “scouring” information on Hillary and Barack?

But in a new examination by NJ Advance Media, a police officer who worked on 9/11 and residents on the outskirts of Journal Square say they witnessed small pockets of people celebrating before the groups dispersed or were broken up by authorities.

The NJ Advance Media inquiry, encompassing more than two dozen interviews conducted since Nov. 25, found Trump’s broad assertion that thousands of people cheered to be baseless. At the same time, the inquiry provides the first credible indication of at least two modest celebrations, as described by on-the-record sources who say they witnessed the behavior.

It’s a long, long article, one that shows that there were pockets of cheering by certain members of the Muslim community in Jersey City alone. Does anyone think that this wasn’t happening elsewhere in America? This in no way should indict all members who practice Islam, or even a majority. But, it should make us consider who were are letting into the country. Remember, the hardcore Islamists who perpetrated 9/11 all had visas at one point or another. And it’s not just the violent ones, who are estimated to be just 1% of the people who practice Islam (which would equal 16 million). It’s the reported 10-25% who hold attitudes of hardcore, fundamentalist Islam. And these people, especially the teachers and clerics, teach more to be Islamists. Liberals can bury their heads in the sand, or just deflect away, but, the fundamentalist version of Islam is utterly incompatible with the Progressive agenda. I can’t figure out why Leftists defend hardcore Islam in such an extreme manner.

Thank Goodness, We Finally Have The Mom View Of ‘Climate Change’

We can now rest easy, as Cara Fleischer shares her view

Climate change – a mom’s view

As a mom of school-aged children in Tallahassee, I feel called to share my excitement for the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change and its message of hope. Finally, some good news!

Thirteen years ago my life changed when I became a mom, and I realized that my husband and I would do everything we could to protect that beautiful baby girl in our arms. One awful day, our baby daughter began gasping for breath, and we learned she was developing asthma. The doctor told us it was common because Atlanta’s smog could be as bad as Mexico City’s. Whoa. I started paying attention to the smog alerts on the radio, TV and highways, and fear crept in with every Code Red and Code Purple alert. What was causing it? I learned that it was too many cars, power plants and factories pumping carbon into the air.

Um, no. While cars, power plants, and factories are major contributors to smog, smog is not “carbon”, an unscientific way to refer to carbon dioxide. Hey, don’t believe me, believe the EPA

Cars and trucks that combust fuel also emit smog forming emissions, such as nitrogen oxide, non-methane organic gases, carbon monoxide, particulate matter, and formaldehyde.

The Cult of Climastrology is pushing un-scientific propaganda, and they’re all too brainwashed to know it. BTW, does Ms. Fleischer own a fossil fueled vehicle? Does she use energy? Purchase consumer goods? Then, according to her foolish talking point, she’s at fault.

We have moved back to our home town of Tallahassee and love sharing the beauty of this place with our children by playing outside under great live oaks, kayaking on our little lake in Killearn, and spending time on St. George Island. But I couldn’t unlearn what I knew about carbon and climate change.

All parents want to provide a safe place for our children to grow, live and to reach their God-given potential, but by no fault of their own, their future is threatened by the effects of climate change. We read stories about epic storms and their human toll, droughts that turn fertile land into deserts, and California water reserves drying up. We see images of skinny polar bears and melting arctic ice, bleached coral and dying oceans. And closer to home, we hear about sunny-day flooding in Miami Beach, experience record high temperatures and prepare for super storms. It’s no wonder busy parents just tune it all out and hope for the best – a feeling of helplessness has set in.

Maybe she should unlearn it all, because she was wrong about smog, and pretty much wrong on everything else. Of course, after learning all this (false propaganda) information, she immediate went out and changed her own life, right? Right?

I found a local nonpartisan group called Citizens’ Climate Lobby that focuses on solutions, and have been inspired to help. I invite you to have hope, tune in and stand up for our kids’ future. Come to a CCL meeting and learn how to encourage our leaders to move toward clean energy with a Carbon Fee Dividend program.

Nope. She wants to force Everyone Else to practice what she preaches. All based on lies. This is what Skeptics are fighting against. We would prefer to focus on the real problems. In the case of smog, yes, let’s look for ways to deal with this real environmental and health issue. Great strides have been made over the past 40 years. Warmists would throw it all away by focusing an dogmatic junk science.

Rising Football Start Killed In Gang Related Shooting, Obama Immediately Calls For Gun Control

He can’t help himself in blaming the gun, rather than the gang culture

(NBC News) As Knoxville, Tennessee, continued grappling with the killing of rising high school football star Zaevion Dobson, President Barack Obama took to Twitter to repeat his call for stricter gun control laws.

“Zaevion Dobson died saving three friends from getting shot,” Obama wrote Sunday from Hawaii, where he arrived Friday for the holidays. “He was a hero at 15. What’s our excuse for not acting?”

Obama’s concern was more for restricting law abiding citizens from owning guns than for this young man shot down by people in another mostly Democratic run city. This from a guy surrounded by people carrying guns, many of them illegal to own by American citizens.

And then, because he was so utterly concerned, he and the family set off on a hike at the Makiki Loop Hawaii Nature Center during their 1%er taxpayer funded vacation.

Of course, it also took several days for Obama to care (well, at least care about gun control), since the shooting occurred Thursday night. Perhaps Mr. Obama could tell us what laws would stop gang members, in this case Black ones, from acquiring guns and shooting people.

The Black Lives Matter crew didn’t seem to care that much, either.

Mass Shootings Talking Point Destroyed By… Wait, Mother Jones?

Well, I bet you didn’t see this one coming

No, There Has Not Been a Mass Shooting Every Day This Year
This inflated stat all over the media isn’t just misleading—it’s stirring undue fear.

Take a moment to consider what type of violent event that headline just brought to mind. The places and horrifying attacks you likely recalled surface instantly for most of us when we see or hear the term “mass shooting”—Columbine and Virginia Tech. Aurora and Sandy Hook. Charleston and San Bernardino.

Even as these mass shootings have grown more frequent and loom large in our consciousness, they are a tiny fraction of America’s gun violence and remain relatively rare. Yet many news outlets keep declaring that there have been upwards of “355 mass shootings this year” or “more than one mass shooting per day.” Many gun control advocates say the same.

This wildly inflated statistic isn’t just misleading the public—it’s stirring undue fear and may be encouraging bad policies.

In fact, there have been four mass shootings this year. Or, if you count using the federal government’s current criteria—three or more victims killed in an indiscriminate public rampage—there have been six mass shootings this year.

Huh. Let’s see

  • San Bernardino: Islamist related
  • Umpqua Community College: not a white guy, registered Independent, wackjob, held multiple types of political views
  • Chattanooga, Tennessee: Islamist related
  • Charleston, SC: total wackjob white kid

So, two by wackjobs and two by Islamists.

Anyhow, the article is well worth the read, a fair and impartial bit of actual journalism. What is the solution to stopping any mass shootings, or even “small” shootings? They can’t stop them in nations that have banned private ownership of guns.

What is happening in Ye Olde Blogosphere? The Fine 15

  1. Independent Sentinel notes the revocation of Al Sharpton’s passport
  2. Weasel Zippers covers what’s going on with the Syria plan
  3. Theodore’s World notes how Michelle O plans to help the people of San Bernardino

As always, the full set of pinups can be seen in the Patriotic Pinup category, or over at my Gallery page. While we are on pinups, since it is that time of year, have you gotten your “Pinups for Vets” calendar yet? And don’t forget to check out what I declare to be our War on Women Rule 5 and linky luv posts and things that interest me

Don’t forget to check out all the other great material all the linked blogs have!

Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

Man Who Took Massive Carbon Pollution Spewing Trip Vetoes Anti-Climate Change Bills

The cost to the American taxpayer for the Obama’s 2014 Hawaii Christmas vacation was over $3.6 million in transportation costs alone. That doesn’t even cover the cost for all the Secret Service security and their lodgings, nor the cost to the local and state security forces, nor the cost for all the fossil fueled vehicles. But, does this mean anything in the face of ‘Climate change”? To take this trip required two fossil fueled jumbo jets, with multiple military fighter jets accompanying them. Since he decided to do a fly-by in San Bernardino, to make it appear as if he Actually Cared, this required a large fossil fueled vehicle convoy. Then this convoy was again used in Hawaii. Then the cost of all the energy and water used in Hawaii at the palatial estate he and the family are staying at. Remember, Obama’s Earth Day trip to Florida put out 5 times more “carbon pollution” than the average American does all year. Golfing? Bad for climate change. Eating all that imported food in Hawaii? Bad for climate change. Then there’s this

(CBS News) President Barack Obama has vetoed two measures that would have blocked steps that his administration is taking to address climate change.

One would have nullified carbon pollution standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA requires the power sector to slash its carbon output by 32 percent by the year 2030.

The second would have voided a set of national standards designed to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas pollution from existing power plants.

In a letter notifying Congress of his decision, the president said climate change is a “profound threat” that must be addressed.

Of course, since Obama is super-busy taking all these fossil fueled trips, he didn’t actually sign the veto. Oh, no, golf was calling, so he used a pocket veto, where he just ignored the legislation for 10 days while Congress was in adjournment, which vetoed it. Seriously, for Obama, what better way is there for him than a measure which requires him to take no action?

Both those Obama executive actions will increase the cost of energy, which will increase the cost of living. Not that this will bother the 1%ers like the Obamas. Fortunately, the squishy Republicans under Paul Ryan will do….nothing to stop Captain Carbon Footprint.

Meanwhile, Warmists were very upset that there were no questions about ‘climate change’ during the debate. No, not the GOP debate, the Democrat debate

Saturday’s Democratic presidential debate began with a question about the ongoingcontroversy over a breach in the Democratic National Committee’s voter database and ended with a question about the changing role of a president’s spouse. In between, ABC News’ David Muir and Martha Raddatz steered the candidates through several substantive issues, from ISIS to taxes to Black Lives Matter. There was one major topic, though, they failed to ask about: climate change.

The only brief mentions of global warming during the entire night came during Bernie Sanders’ opening statement and Martin O’Malley’s closing one, and both of those were largely throwaway lines. “I’m running because we need to address the planetary crisis of climate change and take on the fossil fuel industry and transform our energy system away from fossil fuel to energy efficiency and sustainable energy,” Sanders said at the start of the debate. “The other big challenge we have is climate change,” O’Malley said more than two hours later.

Warmists all over had a collective meltdown over this failure. Of course, had they discussed it, would anyone have seen it, being on a Saturday night, with lots of college and pro football on the TV, and, just being Saturday night? I wonder what the carbon footprint of the Obama/Clinton creation ISIS works out to be?

Miami Will Totally Be Inundated By Tiny Amounts Of CO2

Another day, another scary photoshop of a city disappearing into the sea

Here’s the 2030 Miami Skyline Photoshopped to Account for Dramatic Sea Level Rise and it’s Horrifying

Yesterday we posted a Visualhouse rendering projecting the 2030 Miami skyline.

Curbed commenter Erik Botsford put his Photoshop skills to use and revealedwhat a 2030 Miami skyline would look like with a dramatic and depressing rise in sea level, with Biscayne Bay engulfing Downtown Miami and its surrounding buildings, like the American Airlines Arena. Here is an overlay of the two images.

To see the overlay, you’ll have to hit the link, because of the type of graphic. Here’s what it looks like in the after

I’m figuring that we’re talking about at least 25 feet of sea rise, possibly more, probably more, to bury everything as portrayed. And, certainly, they aren’t the only ones who’ve done this, nor the only ones speaking out with apocalyptic prognostications.

What does the data say? Despite an overall projection by the NOAA, the very limited data from Miami Beach, which ran from 1931-1981, shows just 2.39mm of sea rise per year, meaning .78 feet per century. The nearest monitoring stations are Vaca Key, which shows 3.34mm year, so 1.10 feet over 100 years (well within the norms for a Holocene warm period), and Lake Worth Pier, which is so short on measurements as to be worthless. Mayport, north of Miami, is one of the best, since measurements started in 1928, and go through 2014. It shows 2.5mm  year.

Interestingly, for all the hysteria, no one really seems to have any hard data on sea rise in the Miami area since 1981. If you can find it, let me know. Everything seems to be projections, where the curve is added to create a projection of 6 feet of sea rise, adding to the ending point of 1981 of the NOAA data. Where are the satellite data sets? Where are the hard direct measurements?

Oh, then we get this

Projections for sea-level rise are all over the place but barring some unforeseen variable or climatic disaster, our seas obviously won’t be rising thisquickly. Nonetheless it’s a scary sight. If this website does not exist tomorrow, assume Rick Scott had it terminated.

Oh. So, they throw out scary prognostications, then walk them back. Really, it will take at least 700 years to achieve 6 feet of sea rise. This isn’t a science, it is a political cult.
