Blake Lively Blames Hotcoldwetdry For Shark Attack. In Movie

Say, I wonder what the carbon footprint was for making the movie?

(Newsbusters) Appearing on the Today show, Monday, to promote her new shark movie, actress Blake Lively implied that the reason her character is in peril is global warming. Talking to Savannah Guthrie about The Shallows, she asserted, “Because of global warming, sharks are pushed closer to shore. And she’s attacked and you think of a shark attack being in the deep ocean, but it’s almost scarier when shore is right there.”

Lively seems to use the global warming talking point in every interview promoting the film. In the June Marie Claire, she repeated, “Because of climate change and global warming, what was once in the deep is now in the shallows.”

 photo worf-startrek-facepalm_zps01f51f46.gif

Let me point out, the premise of the movie is that Lively’s character is surfing alone on a secluded beach. Both things are Bad Ideas, as every surfer knows (yes, I still surf). Second, there are many areas where great whites come in close to shore. See seals on the beach? Think hard before going in. Really, let’s just go back to the above facepalm.

CNN Poll Has Hillary Leading On Several Key Metrics

This is the time when we will start being inundated with polls, and something to very much consider is that national head to head polls are not a true metric of who will win the general election. It is the State polls where the rubber meets the road. Again, it’s that pesky Electoral College thing. That said, there are a few concerning things for Trump and his supporters, and even for those who are not Trump supporters, but would prefer that Hillary and the Democrats lose

(CNN) Democrat Hillary Clinton tops Republican Donald Trump by a 47% to 42% margin in the race for the presidency, according to a CNN/ORC Poll released Tuesday, and just 22% of registered voters say their minds could change between now and November.

Clinton continues to lead Trump when Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party and Jill Stein of the Green Party are included in the list of options. Nationwide in that match-up, Clinton holds 42%, Trump 38%, Johnson 9% and Stein 7%.

As CNN notes, neither Johnson nor Stein (who?) will qualify for every ballot, but could play a big part in swing states. That could mean Bad Things for Trump.

One other thing to consider about this poll is it that it consists of registered voters, not likely voters.

More Clinton backers say they have made up their minds (37% of all registered voters are solid Clinton voters) than Trump voters (33% of voters are firmly Trump). Among those voters who say they are not settled on a candidate in the two-way race, more than one-third choose Johnson (23%) or Stein (12%) when asked the four-way match up.

Clinton voters care not a whit that she is a horrible person who left four Americans to die in Benghazi and then lied about it to the American people and the families of those killed. Nor do they care that she is under criminal investigation by the FBI for violation of multiple federal laws, including the Espionage Act.

Here’s where it gets really interesting, though

Clinton holds an edge over Trump on handling several issues, including foreign policy, immigration, trade with other countries, nominating justices to the Supreme Court, and issues relating to the rights of women and of gays and lesbians. She’s also seen as better able to handle the responsibilities of commander-in-chief and to exercise good judgment in a crisis.

Yeah, that’s right, immigration. Trump has made immigration a hallmark of his campaign, it’s what excited people to become Trumpers…well, building a wall, anyhow…and she beats him 50-45%. She slaughters him on foreign policy 57-36%. And 50-45% on foreign trade.

That said, Trump does beat Hillary on terrorism, the economy, and gun rights. He also beats her on being a strong and decisive leader 47-43%/ Also, “honest and trustworthy” is a 45-37% winner.

But, temperament to be POTUS? Handle the responsibility? Shares your values? Exercises good judgment in a crisis? All Hillary wins. These are not good indicators for a November win.

Even with Trump’s edge on those key issues a majority say they ultimately expect Clinton to prevail in November: 55% say they think she will win the presidency, 38% think Trump will.

Things can change over time, for good or bad. The poll does highlight that of the Republicans polled 51% want Trump as their candidate, 48% want someone else.

Overall, 66% think Hillary did something wrong with her email.

The sampling is interesting, though. 30% Democrat, 23% Republican, and 47% who say they are Independents. And the sampling error is a whopping +/- 8.5 (or less).

Oops: Democrat States Have 42% More Mass Shootings

And what are Democrat Party run states? They’re the ones with the most gun restrictions

(Daily Caller) Blue states have 42 percent more mass shootings than red states after adjusting for population, according to data published by Vox, a progressive media outlet, and examined by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Vox published its data after the Orlando terror attack last Sunday, and it suggests that blue states, which tend to have extremely strict gun laws, are ironically much more likely to have mass shootings than red states with less strict gun laws.

TheDCNF’s analysis found that 543 of the mass shootings listed by Vox occurred in blue states while only 330 occurred in red states. If adjusted to account for differences in the size of population, blue states have .381 mass shootings per 100,000 people, while red states have a mere .267.

This all means that mass shootings are “42 percent more likely to occur in a blue state after accounting for population differences.”

The deep blue areas of Washington, D.C. and Maryland led the nation with 2.38 and .998 mass shootings per 100,000 people. Illinois, Delaware, Michigan Rhode Island, and California were relatively close behind and had more mass shootings than the blue state average, according to Vox’s data.

All of them have massive gun restrictions. In fact, California is a gun grabber’s wet dream of gun restrictions, featuring almost the entire wish-list of gun grabbers. Oh, and it wants to implement even more restrictions on law abiding citizens. The only thing missing is banning all personally owned firearms. Except for certain people, such as celebrities and politicians, maybe some union heads. Liberals love their exclusions.

Of course, Liberals will have their excuses

The typical liberal explanation for this is that mass shooters go to red states to buy guns, which they use in blue states. Even progressive Politifact finds these claims “misleading for a varied number of reasons.” This also ignores the fact that there are already roughly 360 million firearms in America, or more guns than people.

It also avoids the pesky notion that, even if the shooters were going to red states to buy guns, the people in Blue states seem pretty pumped up to shoot a lot of people.

Oh, and the numbers of mass shootings by Vox are hyper-inflated, since they consider a mass shooting to be when 4 or more are shot. Law enforcement, including the FBI, considers it to be when 4 or more are killed, not including the (usually) Democrat State resident.

Republican AG’s To Warmists: How’d You Like Some Climate Fraud Back?

I’m betting members of the Cult of Climastrology would gnash their teeth and cry foul, complaining about a violation of their Constitutional Rights, and probably whine about “fascism” and stuff

(Wall Street Journal) Eric Schneiderman and Sheldon Whitehouse, call your office. The New York Attorney General and Rhode Island Senator who helped to launch the prosecution of dissent on climate change may not like where their project is headed. Thirteen state Attorneys General have sent a letter pointing out that if minimizing the risks of climate change can be prosecuted as “fraud,” then so can statements overstating the dangers of climate change.

That’s the news contained in a letter that the Republican AGs of Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin dispatched to Mr. Schneiderman and other AGs on June 15.

“We think this effort by our colleagues to police the global warming debate through the power of the subpoena is a grave mistake,” says the letter. “Using law enforcement authority to resolve a public policy debate undermines the trust invested in our offices and threatens free speech.”

You already know the game those Leftist AGs are playing, using the power of Government to go after Wrongthink

But the AGs’ letter points out that, “If Exxon’s disclosure is deficient, what of the failure of renewable energy companies to list climate change as a risk?” If climate change turns out to be less serious than advertised, then “‘clean energy’ companies may become less valuable and some may be altogether worthless,” the letter adds.

What about these “green” companies who stated they would produce so many jobs and electricity while protecting the environment, then proceeded to produce a fraction of the jobs and electricity (or went out of business), and damaged the environment, along with killing lots of wildlife?

We don’t think anyone should be prosecuted for engaging in political debate, but progressives have shown (see independent counsels) that they’ll cease their abuses only when the same methods are used against them.

The subhead of the article wonders about prosecuting Al Gore for his exaggerations to help his investments. And, really, it isn’t even so much the prosecutions, as the persecutions, where the power of the State is used to intimidate and cause problems for people who dare to have a different opinion.

Five Things Trump Needs To Do To Turn Campaign Around

The Hill’s Jonathan Swan offered these 5 things, but, he forgot a big one: actually campaign. Trump says he’s not going to start till after the convention. The GOP convention is July 18-21, which leaves a bit over three months till the general election. That’s not a lot of time to get things up and running.

Here are the 5

(The Hill) Pick a good VP: One of the fastest ways Trump can repair trust is by surrounding himself with people who would be seen as having a steadying influence on his administration.

Will he do it? Or pick someone completely outside the box, which will make the Trumpites happy, and turn everyone else off? McCain’s pick of Sarah Palin electrified the Conservative base in 2008. She was an up and comer, dynamic, exciting, attractive. Unfortunately, as we soon learned, she was woefully unprepared, and Team McCain did little to help her.

Expand your base: Trump crushed his opponents in the GOP presidential primary, where he was competing with other Republicans for a slice of the vote.

Winning a general election is tougher.

The thing is, he has attempted to expand it, but appealing to Democrats and Bernie supporters. What he hasn’t attempted to do is appeal to Republicans and Conservatives. Yes, he gets big crowds, and had a good showing during the primaries. But, the number who come out to vote during primaries is considerably less than during the general. And huge swaths supported someone other than Trump. He’s making little to no attempt to woo them, even just to the point of saying “at least vote against Hillary”. Often, he’s insulting to the people he needs to get out and vote.

Focus on winnable states

He needs to limit his appearances and attempts at putting California and NY in play, and focus on those states a Republican should win, as well as swing states. But, he’s running a “different campaign”, so don’t expect him to change.

Cut out the conspiracy theories

His base loves these. And, if he’s going to dabble in them, at least deal with real stuff, like Hillary’s email server and Bill’s sexual assaults.

Focus on jobs and the economy: Trump’s image is that of the successful businessman who knows how to make a deal.

The economy remains the No. 1 topic for voters.

As such, Trump’s path to the White House would seem to be based on an economic argument.

In interviews with The Hill over the past month, dozens of Republican strategists have said they wish Trump would get back to talking about how he’ll make America rich again.

The economy is a mess. He should spend more time talking about it. He can also talk about terrorism and illegal immigration, and should. But, much like with the other Democrat in the race, Hillary Clinton, Trump is more about populism. And whining about the Republicans who aren’t sold on him.

National polls are virtually meaningless. It is the state polls that matter, due to that whole Electoral College thing. Some early polls show Trump doing poorly in what should be slam dunk GOP states against a horrible candidate in Hillary. This could be an epic wipeout of the GOP for the general with a guy who doesn’t know how to run a campaign beyond the primaries.

More: perhaps Trump dumping Lewandowski is a step towards changing the narrative towards a general election, as many are suggesting. But, Trump says what Trump wants to say, not what Lewandowski tells him to say.

Obama Doesn’t Want People To Pay “Lip Service” On ‘Climate Change’

Did you hear about Obama taking a trip to Yosemite over the weekend? His little trip would have featured a long fossil fueled trip on a very large jumbo jet, with a backup jet following, as well as a few fighter jets. It would have started with a helicopter trip to the airport, and featured a helicopter trip to Yosemite

Fortunately, much of the park was closed so Obama could say

Over to the UK Guardian

Obama at Yosemite attacks ‘lip service’ to natural beauty amid climate inaction

Barack Obama warned on Saturday that climate change could ravage many of America’s vaunted national parks, criticizing political opponents who “pay lip service” to areas of natural beauty while opposing efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

During a visit to Yosemite national park, Obama said climate change was “no longer a threat, it’s a reality”. The first sitting president to visit Yosemite since John F Kennedy in 1962 said the famed glacial valley was already experiencing changes due to rising temperatures. (snip)

Obama said: “We can’t treat it like it’s someone else’s problem, it shouldn’t lead to careless suggestions that we don’t get serious about carbon emissions or that we scrap an international treaty that we spent years putting together to deal with this.

He, of course, means that Other People shouldn’t treat it as someone else’s problem, because, after a few photo ops, he jumped back in a fossil fueled helicopter to get to a fossil fueled jumbo jet for a fossil fueled trip back to Washington.

But, you now have your marching orders, Warmists: it’s time for you to walk the talk. Give up your use of fossil fuels. Set your AC to 80. Only buy local. Take two minute showers. Only use composting toilets. Don’t use ice makers. Your appliances can only be powered by solar and wind. Unplug every electrical device in your house when not in use. Don’t have kids. Make your life carbon neutral.

AG Lynch Will Only Release Partial Orlando Transcripts, Avoiding That Messy Islamic Terrorism Stuff

Citizens must be protected from hearing that the Pulse nightclub jihadi was doing it for Islam (video at the link)

(Real Clear Politics) In an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, Attorney General Loretta Lynch says that on Monday, the FBI will release edited transcripts of the 911 calls made by the Orlando nightclub shooter to the police during his rampage.

“What we’re not going to do is further proclaim this man’s pledges of allegiance to terrorist groups, and further his propaganda,” Lynch said. “We are not going to hear him make his assertions of allegiance [to the Islamic State].”

This is in reference to all his calls to 911 and others, which contained multiple references to ISIS, Islamist values, and defense of the Boston bombers, among others.

CHUCK TODD: We’re not going to hear him talk about those things?

LYNCH: We will hear him talk about some of those things, but we are not going to hear him make his assertions of allegiance and that. It will not be audio, it will be a printed transcript. But it will begin to capture the back and forth between him and the negotiators, we’re trying to get as much information about this investigation out as possible. As you know, because the killer is dead, we have a bit more leeway there and we will be producing that information tomorrow.

One has to ask, if the killer was a Republican, conservative, or a Tea Party member, proclaiming those values, would the transcript be edited? What if they were a KKK member, a Sovereign Citizen, or just about anything else, would the transcripts be edited? Of course not. This administration, the majority of the media, and Democrats overall work overtime to protect extremist Islam, even at the expense of other Democratic Party voter blocks, such as the LGBT community.

As DaTechGuy notes “(the Obama administration is) going to censor any information that is not consistent with the approved narrative of the Democrat party in particular and the White House in particular.

William A. Jacobson writes “Calling BS on that. This is all about Obama’s attempt to extricate the reality of Mateen’s Islamic terror motivations from the public discourse.” And notes a comment by a Legal Insurrection reader, who says that this violates Florida open information laws.

I didn’t mention the Dylann Roof incident. Liberty Unyielding does

The DOJ was apparently happy to do that — to “further” Roof’s imputed propaganda, and “further proclaim pledges of allegiance” that he never actually made in relation to the attack.  For some reason, it wasn’t dangerous to the American public to have the Confederate flag (and a hysteria-wave about “white supremacism”) shoved in its face after the Charleston attack.  It was perfectly fine for the federal authorities to not just let Americans get a big load of Roof’s imputed propaganda, but to make it up and broadcast it for him.

Pamela Geller calls this Sharia compliance in America. This administration is willing to impugn gun owners, Republicans, Conservatives, White people, and just about every group but Islamists.
