Unsurprisingly, Obama, Democrats Use Dallas To Push “Gun Control”

They just can’t help themselves, and want the same type of gun control Democrats have enabled in peaceful places like Chicago, D.C., Baltimore, and California

(Fox News) President Obama renewed his push for gun control measures Friday as he condemned the “senseless murders” of five Dallas police officers in a coordinated sniper attack overnight. (snip)

But before wrapping his remarks, the president once again returned to the issue of gun laws.

“We also know that when people are armed with powerful weapons, unfortunately it makes attacks like these more deadly and more tragic, and in the days ahead we’re going to have to consider those realities as well,” Obama said.

Never let a good crisis go to waste, especially from a guy surrounded by armed security, including weapons that are illegal to sell and illegal to own.

House Democrats are likely to ramp up their calls for gun restrictions following the Dallas murders as well. Members of the Congressional Black Caucus, at a previously scheduled press conference Friday morning, continued to urge legislation on the issue.

“We need legislative action now,” CBC Chairman G.K. Butterfield, D-N.C., said, while mourning the victims of both the Dallas tragedy and two recent deadly shootings by police.

Other Democrats were quick to call for gun control, taking advantage of the crisis. Consider that this CNN article was published at 221pm Friday, not that long after the shootings, and as other Black people were murdering police officers around the country

Black lawmakers delivered an emotional and sometimes searing plea for gun control Friday in response to the Dallas killings, calling the suspected gunman a “terrorist” and openly weeping at times as they railed against gun violence.

Rep. John Lewis, a civil rights icon who led a sit-in for gun control measures on the House floor just two weeks ago, as well as Rep. Robyn Kelley, wept during the news conference called by the Congressional Black Caucus on Friday. Rep. Cedric Richmond, a Louisiana Democrat, accused Republicans of “the devaluation” of minorities by not taking up gun control legislation.

It’s not white people killing white people in huge numbers in Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, Newark, D.C., and so many other Democratic Party run cities. Once again, let’s note that 50% of the murders in this country are committed by Blacks, a sector of the population that accounts for less than 14% overall. Gun control hasn’t worked among their population.

Members of the caucus — including many involved in the House sit-in seeking gun control — said Friday the answer to the Dallas shootings must be new limits on gun sales, increased money for police training, and meetings between local leaders and Justice Department officials.

“We are continuing our fight to remove guns from the hands of would-be terrorists and criminals and require background checks for those seeking to purchase firearms. We need legislative action now!” said CBC chairman Rep. G.K. Butterfield. The morning news conference was delayed after the Capitol was briefly placed on lockdown.

Except, Democrats are pushing measures that would mostly negatively affect law abiding citizens and their ability to be armed, not criminals. Their plans would violate our 2nd Amendment Rights, as well as our Due Process rights.

Furthermore, by disarming regular citizens, they leave them to be prey for the criminals who, surprise, do not follow the law. Double the furthermore, Democrats have supported the groups who smear and defame police offers, who accuse all law enforcement of being “racist” and evil. People who seem to hate white people and cops and use inflammatory and violent discourse towards them. Democrat support for these groups enable the violence. Don’t blame the gun. blame the people who use the gun.

Surprise: Warmists Retroactively Blame 2003 Heat Wave Deaths On ‘Climate Change’

Hey, they blame everything that happens today and 100 years in the future on Other People refusing to give up their fossil fueled vehicles and go climate neutral, so, why not stuff in the past? Well, they kinda do that now, regarding hundreds, thousands, and millions of years ago, typically forgetting to mention that all the bad problems were from cool

Climate Change to Blame for Deaths in 2003 Heat Wave, New Study Says

The first attempt by scientists to assess the role of climate change in the deadly European heat waves of 2003 has attributed about half of the 1,050 deaths in Paris and London that summer to the effects of global warming.

Tens of thousands of people, many of them elderly, died in France and other European nations in one of the most notable extreme weather events since the turn of the century. The implication of the study, published Thursday in the journal Environmental Research Letters, is that manmade climate change was largely responsible for the disaster.

“Other studies have looked at how humans have changed the frequencies of heat waves, or they’ve looked at how heat affects mortality,” said Daniel Mitchell, a researcher with the Environmental Change Institute and lead author on the study. “But no studies looked directly at how human-induced climate change has impacted mortality in these extreme heat waves. Our study was the first to directly model that and put a number on how many deaths there were in these two cities for the 2003 heat wave, or in fact for any heat wave. “

Heat waves never happened prior to the Industrial Revolution, ya know. Of course, they did a lot of research on this, took readings, gathered facts….oh, wait

The researchers began by running climate models. The first, “the natural scenario,” allowed them to estimate what the climate of 2003 would have been like without any climate change due to human factors, like deforestation and industrial emissions of greenhouse gases.

The second, “the observed scenario,” included all known climatic forces under which the 2003 heat wave occurred.

Are Green Anti-Brexit’s Worried About The Opinion Of Interstellar Leaders?

Members of the Cult of Climastrology have been very concerned over what Brexit will do to the Paris climate agreement. What will Britain do? Will this cause problems from other nations? How about leaders of other planets (via Watts Up With That?)

(UK Express)  ALIEN conspiracy theorists were sent into overdrive after European Commission president Jean Claude Juncker appeared to say he had “heard from the leaders of other planets”.

Clips of the EU big wig speaking in a Brexit debate are going viral online, after he was heard to say aliens were worried about the looming Brexit by the UK from the union.

He said, translated from French: “You need to know that those who observe us from afar are worried.

“I have have seen, listened and heard many leaders of other planets and they are very worried because they wonder about the course the EU will follow.

Jean-claude Juncker is the head of the President of the European Commission, a body which is uber-Green, and he himself is a big believer in anthropogenic climate change. It’s one of his big priorities.

Most likely, it was a slip of the tongue. Funny as heck, though.

Trump Gets Snappy With Several Republican Senators, Blows Golden Opportunities

What should have been an easy meet and greet for Donald Trump, attempting to woo Republican Senators, turned into a typical Trump kerfuffle, allowing the media to move from the Hillary email scandal to other shiny objects

(Washington Post) When Flake stood up and introduced himself, Trump told him, “You’ve been very critical of me.”

“Yes, I’m the other senator from Arizona — the one who didn’t get captured — and I want to talk to you about statements like that,” Flake responded, according to two Republican officials…

Trump said at the meeting that he has yet to attack Flake hard but threatened to begin doing so. Flake stood up to Trump by urging him to stop attacking Mexicans. Trump predicted that Flake would lose his reelection, at which point Flake informed Trump that he was not on the ballot this year, the sources said…

Characterizing Kirk as a loser, Trump vowed that he would carry Illinois in the general election even though the state traditionally has been solidly Democratic in presidential contests. Kirk did not attend the meeting with Trump.

Trump seems to prefer fighting with Republicans, the Party he is supposed to represent, more than Democrats. During his meeting with House members, he had another unforced error

Rep. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) left the meeting worried about Trump’s grasp on the basics of the Constitution. At a lunch with reporters afterward, he recalled that the candidate did not seem to know what he was promising to defend.

“I wasn’t particularly impressed,” said Sanford. “It was the normal stream of consciousness that’s long on hyperbole and short on facts. At one point, somebody asked about Article I powers: What will you do to protect them? I think his response was, ‘I want to protect Article I, Article II, Article XII,’ going down the list. There is no Article XII.”

And Trumpites wonder why the #NeverTrump folks and us fence sitters are concerned with this guy. Instead of focusing on Hillary and her email scandal, and all the things James Comey said about her lying, doing wrong, etc and so on, and he’s doing this, talking about how great Saddam Hussein was at killing terrorists, a star on Frozen dvds. Then there’s this

Presented in a recent interview with a scenario, floating around the political ether, in which the presumptive Republican nominee proves all the naysayers wrong, beats Hillary Clinton and wins the presidency, only to forgo the office as the ultimate walk-off winner, Mr. Trump flashed a mischievous smile.

“I’ll let you know how I feel about it after it happens,” he said, minutes before leaving his Trump Tower office to fly to a campaign rally in New Hampshire…

Joking or not? It doesn’t matter, because that’s not the kind of thing you tweak people’s noses with. Being POTUS is not a joke. As Allahpundit notes “Prominent Trump crony Roger Stone assured the Times he’s “fairly certain” that Trump would actually serve as president if elected. Fairly certain?” He also notes that there is serious discussion over Ivanka Trump being a VP or cabinet official pick.

It all adds up to

We go back to the Lonely Conservative constantly asking if Trump really wants to be president. Let’s end with this, an article by Jim Geraghty entitled “Trump’s Insane Response to Week of Golden Opportunities

This is not merely a swing and a miss at slow-pitch softball; this is swinging mightily at tee ball and hitting yourself with the bat.

Five Officers Killed, Six Others Wounded By Snipers In Dallas

Can you guess the one thing that is missing from almost all news reports? Who the shooters were

(ABC News) Eleven police officers were shot ambush-style, including five fatally, in Dallas Thursday night by at least two snipers, amid a protest against the recent police shootings of two black men, Alton Sterling in Louisiana, and Philando Castile in Minnesota, according to the Dallas Police.

One of the suspects had engaged in a standoff for several hours with police, but a Dallas city official announced around 3:30 a.m. that it was over. It was not immediately known what his condition was.

The condition of the six wounded officers remains unknown. One civilian was also injured.

Officials said the gunmen aimed to kill as many officers as possible.

Among the officers killed, at least one was a Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) officer. DART tweeted it was “grieving the loss” of Officer Brent Thompson, 43. Three other DART officers were injured: Omar Cannon, 44; Misty McBride, 32; Jesus Retana, 39. A DART spokesman said “they are expected to recover from their injuries.”

Unsurprisingly, there are many who are blaming the guns.

And there are plenty of folks on Twitter and in comments at news articles who are cheering the cold blooded murder of these police officers. Officers who had nothing to do with the incidents in Louisiana and Minnesota.

By 12:30 a.m. local time, three suspects were in custody and cops were in negotiations with a fourth, who was exchanging gunfire with officers.

Two of the individuals were taken in after one of them was seen carrying a camouflage bag walking quickly down Lamar Street in downtown Dallas. The individual then threw the bag in the back of a Mercedes and sped off. Police followed the vehicle and performed a traffic stop.

A woman was also taken into custody in the vicinity of the El Centro parking garage.

The fourth suspect was the individual engaged in a shootout with Dallas SWAT officers, police said, and a suspicious package was found near the suspect’s location. Police said the package is being secured by the bomb squad.

Who could they be? Are they NRA members? White supremacists? Sovereign Citizens? These are questions being asked on social media and again, in comments by Typical Leftists. Of course, some are wondering if they were Islamists. Initially, Dallas Police identified one guy as a suspect, but, after being detained, he was let go. So, we just do not know at this time.

We’ll surely know the identities of the shooters by the end of the day, and, if we don’t you can sadly bet that they are either Black or Muslim, and that the government is attempting to spin this.

Bummer: ‘Climate Change’ Is The Missing Issue This Campaign Season

The UK Guardian has a sad that people aren’t really talking about Hotcoldwetdry and it has gone missing

The race for the White House is failing to grapple with the key issues of the day, especially the urgent need to combat climate change before atmospheric changes become irreversible, a slice of the American electorate believes.

As the primary election season turns toward a head-to-head between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, there is increasing anger and frustration over the nature of the contest. A Guardian call-out to online readers in the US asking them to reflect on the race so far was met by a barrage of criticism on the tone and substance of the world’s most important election – with the two main parties, individual candidates and the media all coming under heavy fire.

Well, good news: you won’t get more discussion of it, because Trump doesn’t care, and, really, if you’ve paid attention to Hillary over the years, she doesn’t care either. This is not an issue she’s spent much time on, nor something she paid attention to much while Secretary of State. She’s not calling for carbon taxes, eliminating fossil fuels, or most of the other foolishness from Warmists. Yes, she has it listed as an issue on her website, but, it almost seems to be there because liberals demand it, not because she’ll do anything. She generally ignores ‘climate change’ on the campaign trail, choosing to talk about other issues.

The Guardian asked readers to identify the “one issue that affects your life you wish the presidential candidates were discussing more”. Resoundingly, the largest group of participants pointed to climate change.

Of the 1,385 who responded to the call-out – from all 50 states – one in five expressed discontent at the relative silence from candidates around a subject that they believed to be of supreme and epochal importance. They noted that much of the Republican debate has either focused on blatant denial that climate change even exists or on how to unpick Barack Obama’s attempts to fight global warming, while on the Democratic side both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have raised the issue but have rarely pushed it to the top of the political agenda.

Sorry, Warmist snowflakes, no one really cares.

Vivid words and phrases were used to articulate the scale of the pending disaster that readers accused the presidential hopefuls of ignoring, such as “cataclysmic”, “running out of time”, “threat to human life”, “path towards destruction”, or in one particularly memorable remark: “slow-motion apocalypse”.

A reader from Alaska, a state acutely feeling the impact of climate change, used the word “Doomed!”, while an 18-year-old woman from Tennessee who asked to remain anonymous simply said: “Freaking global climate change.” Jennie Ratcliffe, 66, from North Carolina quibbled with the Guardian’s wording of the question, saying “this is far more than an ‘issue’ – it’s a crisis”.

In other words, they should all be heavily medicated.

North Carolina State Democrats Look To Use Secret Lists To Restrict Gun Rights

Their push will go absolutely nowhere, since Republicans control both the General Assembly and the governor’s mansion, but, like Democrats nationally, state Dems are super thrilled to restrict the gun rights of law abiding citizens, and those pesky due process notions? Meh. They might get around to them

(Daily Tarheel) In light of the Orlando shooting, Democrats in the Republican-controlled North Carolina state Senate are pushing Republican leaders to begin work on legislation that would ban individuals on the federal government’s Terrorist Watchlist from purchasing firearms in North Carolina.

Senator Jay Chaudhuri, along with seven other Democratic senators, signed a letter with this request and delivered it to Republican Senate leader Phil Berger. “My hope is that they will bring it up for a vote in North Carolina as a means of protecting folks who want to go to school, go to work, go out and have a good time with family and friends and not have the specter of someone who shouldn’t have a gun being able to go out and commit heinous acts,” said Matt Hughes, former chair of the Orange County Democrats.

The proposed legislation would be similar to bills that Democrats in the U.S. House have attempted to bring to the floor, denying anyone on the federal Terrorist Watchlist the right to purchase a firearm. Many, like North Carolina Rep. Verla Insko, D-56, support this view.

“I think that there are some due process issues, but I believe that they can be addressed, and I think that it is a reasonable step,” Insko said. “I think that if you can’t be trusted to have a plane ticket, you shouldn’t be trusted to have a gun, but I do understand the due process issues.”

Those due process issues would allow for some sort of appeals

“It would be handled on appeals where there would be a review, which is cumbersome but adequate given the increasing gun violence and gun terrorism in the United States,” Insko said.

The modern Democratic Party, folks: your Constitutional due process appeals should be cumbersome.

But abortion should be easy peasy, and doctors who yank babies out of the bodies of women shouldn’t have to deal with following the same medical standards as veterinarians.

Man With Giant Carbon Footprint Takes Fossil Fueled Trip To Complain About ‘Climate Change’

So, Barack Obama was in North Carolina Tuesday with unindicted criminal Hillary Clinton. To get to the rally in Charlotte, he jumped on a helicopter for a flight to the airport. Then took a jumbo jet, which was trailed by a backup jumbo jet. And certainly a few fighter jets for protection. Then a trip in a fossil fueled vehicle, along with a large contingent of fossil fueled vehicles. Then, reverse for the trip back to the White House. Hillary Clinton accompanied him. And we got, among others

(Grist) Unlike at a Trump rally, where concern for climate change is considered a character flaw, the issue was front and center at Tuesday’s event. Obama in particular praised Clinton’s work setting the groundwork for the Paris Climate Accord when she was secretary of State, while noting that her opponent wants to pull the U.S. out from the hard-won agreement:

With Secretary Clinton’s help, America ultimately led nearly 200 other nations to an agreement to save this planet for future generations.

Now, maybe — maybe you don’t care about this. Maybe you think 99 percent of scientists are wrong … But the point is, we’re not done with this, so where we go from here is up to you.

You can vote with the climate deniers who want to tear up the agreements we’ve crafted and doom our kids to a more dangerous world, or you can vote to keep putting people back to work building a cleaner energy future for all of us.

Grist thinks this will resonate with North Carolina voters, based on some 2014 Sierra Club poll, this issue rarely ever shows up in the news media, be it newspapers or TV. In one poll, education takes the top spot, and, I suppose one could charitably consider ‘climate change’ to be part of environment/energy in the 6th spot. Climate change is just not something most care about, and for those that do, we tend to ask them why they left the Democratic Party state they used to live in that Democrats ruined with their ‘climate change’, big government, big taxation, job killing policies, to come down here and preach the same things that they escaped. If they like those policies, well, I-95 runs north and south, as does I-85, and I-40 goes west. Have fun, Warmists! Oh, and don’t leave in a fossil fueled vehicle. That would be hypocritical.

As far as the Paris agreement goes, what, exactly, did Hillary do? She was out of office well before it was negotiated. During her time as Secretary of State, every attempt failed miserably. Though, in fairness, that’s more on Obama. And, if the agreement was so great, why did Obama demand that it be crafted in a manner so he could avoid having Congress vote on it?
