Brought to you by people who take long fossil fueled trips many times a year to attend conferences that complain about Other People taking fossil fueled trips, and refuse to reduce their own carbon footprints
(Innovators Magazine) Businesses and individuals are being urged to join a UN initiative and contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The United Nations Climate Change secretariat is promoting the ‘Climate Neutral Now Pledge’, a voluntary programme that encourages organisations to take climate action by ‘measuring, reducing, and offsetting’ their unavoidable emissions. To offset emissions they can’t currently avoid, signatories can offset them by buying UN-Certified Emissions Reductions (CERs) which finance projects in developing countries including solar and wind farms.
And this is a movement everyone can join. Individuals who want to get involved can sign up to the Citizens Climate Pledge at climatepledge.global. An online calculator estimates someone’s climate footprint so they can also effectively ‘measure, reduce, and offset’ their negative environmental impact by taking steps such as purchasing United Nations-certified climate credits.

In other words, the UN wants to make some nice cool climacash off pushing this junk science issue, and, get the names, email addresses, and other information from Useful ClimaIdiots to use for their purposes. Have to admit, it’s a good plan, because there are plenty of ClimaIdiots.

Here’s a super great idea from the Washington Post’s uber-left wing Jonathan Alter: getting companies to boycott states that uphold the principles of the 2nd Amendment. Funny how he doesn’t recommend that companies boycott Democratic Party run cities/jurisdictions that have tons of gun restrictions yet have tons of gun violence, to go along with all the other violence and property crime
It’s time for companies to boycott gun-lax states
Even if Congress takes action on the bump stocks or other modifications used by the mass murderer in Las Vegas, Washington will not be the center of change on gun violence. The president and Congress are owned by the NRA, and public attention will soon shift away from the latest massacre, as it always does.
But there’s reason for hope in states that are hungry to keep and attract business, which means every state in the union. Gun safety advocates should take heart from the backlash against bathroom bills and other anti-gay laws in red states. The institutions that stood up in those fights — from Apple to the NCAA — offer a path forward.
Corporations have a moral and fiduciary duty to enhance the safety of their workplaces and other venues they use. When mass shootings were rare, they weren’t as much of a concern. Now that they’re a common occurrence, the calculus for locating businesses, conventions, sporting events and concerts must change. Companies cannot fully guarantee the safety of their employees and customers anywhere, but risks are clearly greater in “gun lax†states.
Interestingly, if you look at the graphic of where the shootings have occurred over the last 50 years, you see a pattern of them being in mostly Democratic Party run areas and/or done by a Democratic party supporter or Islamist.
And places that are gun free zones. It’s weird how criminals with murder on their minds do not follow the law, right?
Those states should now be faced with a choice: They can have assault weapons and gun show loopholes. Or they can have good jobs and events from responsible corporations. But they can’t have both.
And then they’ll look at the violent and property crimes rates, and realize that Democratic Party run areas are more dangerous.
Imagine if chief executives looking out for the safety of their employees and conference attendees announced that they would locate new facilities and hold conventions, concerts and other gatherings only in “gun responsible†states (which different companies could define differently). We might see activity overnight in several state legislatures.
Doubtful. The companies are in the business of making money, and the terms, cost of living, and so forth tend to be better in the areas that love the 2nd Amendment.
The NRA and its toadies say that no law could have definitively prevented this or any other massacre. This is a dodge: Traffic laws don’t prevent all car crashes or air bags all deaths in those accidents. But they help. If the carnage in Las Vegas prompts even a few more state experiments, something good may yet come from this evil.
The “toadies” would be the citizens of the United States who believe in the Bill Of Rights, and, let’s not forget that Senator Dianne Feinstein said that no gun laws would have stopped the Las Vegas shooter. And let’s not forget that, once again, this is all aimed at the law abiding gun owners, not the people who would use guns in a criminal manner.

Democrats and illegal alien supporters have been increasing their calls for a “clean” Dreamer bill, one which pretty much provides amnesty without any give or take, without any security measures, basically one that gives them everything they want and gives up nothing. Mr. Trump lets the illegal alien supporters know that if they want something big like a pathway to citizenship, they are going to have to give up a lot
Trump administration releases hard-line immigration principles, threatening deal on ‘dreamers’
The Trump administration released a list of hard-line immigration principles late Sunday that threaten to derail a deal in Congress to allow hundreds of thousands of younger undocumented immigrants to remain in the country legally.
The administration’s wish list includes the funding of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, a crackdown on the influx of Central American minors and curbs on federal grants to “sanctuary cities,†according to a document distributed to Congress and obtained by The Washington Post. (snip)
The list released by the administration, however, would represent a major tightening of immigration laws. Cuts to legal immigration also are included. And, while Democrats have called for a path to citizenship for all dreamers, a group estimated at more than 1.5 million, a White House aide said Sunday night the administration is “not interested in granting a path to citizenship” in a deal to preserve the DACA program.
This halfway resembles a press release from the DNC, which is unsurprising when deal with leftist outlets like the Washington Post. Democrats are said to be very upset by…demands for security in dealing with people who are violating our national sovereignty and laws.
“The administration can’t be serious about compromise or helping the Dreamers if they begin with a list that is anathema to the Dreamers, to the immigrant community and to the vast majority of Americans,†Schumer and Pelosi said in a joint statement Sunday evening. “We told the President at our meeting that we were open to reasonable border security measures … but this list goes so far beyond what is reasonable. This proposal fails to represent any attempt at compromise.â€
Border security and a crackdown on illegal aliens is anathema to the Dreamers? Who cares? They’re here illegally. If we chose to provide them with some sort of legal status, they should be happy, rather than acting like children upset because they got a cookie instead of a bowl of ice cream. The Washington Post, like most outlets, forgets to link to the document from Team Trump. Politico has it here. It’s long and detailed, unlike the way Obama would simply provide a sticky note with a few bulletin points he wants done.
ABC News goes on to note
They included a complete overhaul of the green-card system that would limit family-based green cards to spouses and the minor children of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents as part of an effort to end what is known as “chain migration.”
The White House also said it wants to boost fees at border crossings, hire 10,000 more immigration enforcement officers, make it easier to deport gang members and unaccompanied children, and overhaul the asylum system. And it wants new measures to crack down on “sanctuary cities,” which don’t share information with federal immigration authorities, among other proposals.
“These priorities are essential to mitigate the legal and economic consequences of any grants or status to DACA recipients,” White House legislative affairs director Marc Short told reporters in a Sunday evening conference call. “We’re asking that these reforms be included in any legislation concerning the status of DACA recipients.”
If the illegal alien Dreamer supporters want something big for the Dreamers, they are going to have to give back big stuff.
But it remained unclear whether the president considers each of the more than a dozen priorities to be non-negotiable or whether the White House sees them more as a starting point for negotiation with members of Congress. Officials on the call notably declined to say whether the president would veto legislation that did not include each and every one of them.
Most likely, these are things that can be negotiated, and the more the Dreamer supporters want, the more they will have to give up to Trump and the illegal alien hardliners (meaning those who want to follow the law).

We can call this the Trump Effect On Illegal Immigration. Deportations from those caught crossing the border have declined, as fewer attempt to cross the U.S.-Mexico border because of the harsh measures Team Trump has implemented (meaning they are enforcing the laws on the books), which includes catching and deporting illegals already in the country
(Washington Post) Deportations from the interior of the United States are rising under President Trump as the administration expands enforcement from the U.S.-Mexico border and into immigrant communities deeper inside the country.
From Jan. 22 to Sept. 9, officials deported nearly 54,000 immigrants from the interior, a 34 percent increase over the same period last year, and said that they expect the numbers to climb.
That is excellent news, and highlights President Trump giving ICE the green light to do the job they are told to do by duly passed federal laws, rather than restricting them, as we saw under Obama. And it helps to have someone directing ICE, Thomas Homan, who is happy to do the job.
The article then deflects into California declaring itself a sanctuary state, which writer Maria Sacchetti thinks is some sort of major blow, failing to realize that ICE will simply arrest illegals in the streets, and, really, wherever they want, regardless of whether California law enforcement and prison services have been directed to not help. And the article discusses some other things illegal immigration. It’s like Maria either had to fill the story out or just wanted to throw the whole sink in. Then we get to the part about Obama deporting upwards of 200,000 interior illegals per year from 2008-2011, before Obama decided to cut this as much as possible, directing ICE to not do their jobs in full, and empowering sanctuary cities to resist.
Trump’s critics say immigration agents are portraying hard-working immigrants as criminals and destabilizing their communities, making immigrants afraid to report crimes or even venture outside.
They are criminals, as they are unlawfully present, and they should actually have communities in the U.S. to start with.
Although the Trump administration’s chief goal is to deport criminals, it is still expelling significant numbers of people who never committed any crimes. From January to Sept. 9, ICE deported a total of 142,818 immigrants from the border and the U.S. interior, including 83,254 people who were criminals and 59,564 who were not.
They’re all criminals. Interestingly, Maria ends with this little stat
Federal records show that 92 percent of the 97,482 immigrants arrested this year for deportation have been convicted of a crime, have charges pending, were immigration fugitives or had been previously deported.
Huh. And none should be in the United States to start with.

It’s funny how people who benefit heavily from a modern lifestyle, made possible in part by fossil fuels, want to roll back society (for Other People, of course)
Learn from indigenous people to fight climate change, says Swedish aid chief
With generations of experience conserving land and forests, indigenous people’s knowledge about climate change could help inform decisions at next month’s United Nations climate talks, but their environmental wisdom is often ignored.
The head of Sweden’s international development agency said that must change – and climate change negotiators should learn from indigenous people.
“Indigenous people often live and work from forests, land and water in different ways and they use them in a sustainable way because they need to survive,†Carin Jämtin told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
“That’s why we must use the knowledge of those who know how to sustainably use nature,†she said during a conference on indigenous land rights in Stockholm this week.

Besides being incredibly patronizing, it’s typical climastupidity. Ms. Jamtin is basically positioning indigenous people as being backwards, back to nature folks living like it’s hundreds of years ago.
But, hey, perhaps they could educate all the Warmist leaders about the hypocrisy of taking tons of fossil fueled trips to places like Bonn, Germany, to complain about Other People using fossil fuels.
You could have seen this coming a mile away, once California Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown signed the sanctuary state bill
(Sacramento Bee) The Trump administration’s immigration chief warned Friday that his agents will be making more arrests in California neighborhoods and workplaces because Gov. Jerry Brown signed a “sanctuary state†law.
Tom Homan, acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said Brown’s decision to sign Senate Bill 54, which offers more protections for unauthorized immigrants, undermines public safety and hinders his department from performing its federally mandated mission, adding that “the governor is simply wrong when he claims otherwise.â€
SB 54 “will inevitably result in additional collateral arrests, instead of focusing on arrests at jails and prisons where transfers are safer for ICE officers and the community,†Homan warned.
Arresting illegals in safe places like courthouses would have been the smarter move for California, as well as allowing ICE to take the illegals into custody at jails. Now? We’ll surely see more Outrage when ICE tags illegals at their homes and other places more often. And, this being Homan, who is a hardliner (meaning he respects the Law) on illegal immigration, he will direct ICE agents to be move visible to send a message, which Trump will approve of. Homan had wanted to avoid neighborhood sweeps, but, now he and ICE are put in a place where they need to be conducted.
(Senate President Pro Tem Kevin) De León, speaking at a rally for the bill Thursday in Los Angeles, also acknowledged it would not stop ICE from “trolling our streets,†or provide “full†sanctuary for unauthorized immigrants.
“The Trump administration is once again making heavy-handed threats against California because we won’t help them tear apart families and our economy in the process,†de León said in a statement Friday responding to Homan. “The acting ICE director’s inaccurate statement exemplifies the fear-mongering and lies that guide this administration.â€
Let’s unpack that: De Leon is saying that law and order is a bad thing, that allowing people who have committed crimes and are unlawfully present in the United States to be arrested is a bad thing, that illegal aliens should be placed over the needs of lawful citizens.
Referring to another bill Brown signed, Senate Bill 29, which restricts the ability to contract with ICE for detention facilities, Homan said, “ICE will also likely have to detain individuals arrested in California in detention facilities outside of the state, far from any family they may have in California.â€
If California is looking for someone to Blame, they should look to their elected officials. Said officials should consider that they, and the people who work for California, at places like jails, could find themselves on the wrong side of federal law for things like sheltering and harboring illegal aliens, for providing aid and comfort.
