Swedish Aid Chief: We Can Totally Learn From Indigenous People On ‘Climate Change’ To Live Like It’s 1499 Or Something

It’s funny how people who benefit heavily from a modern lifestyle, made possible in part by fossil fuels, want to roll back society (for Other People, of course)

Learn from indigenous people to fight climate change, says Swedish aid chief

With generations of experience conserving land and forests, indigenous people’s knowledge about climate change could help inform decisions at next month’s United Nations climate talks, but their environmental wisdom is often ignored.

The head of Sweden’s international development agency said that must change – and climate change negotiators should learn from indigenous people.

“Indigenous people often live and work from forests, land and water in different ways and they use them in a sustainable way because they need to survive,” Carin Jämtin told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

“That’s why we must use the knowledge of those who know how to sustainably use nature,” she said during a conference on indigenous land rights in Stockholm this week.

Besides being incredibly patronizing, it’s typical climastupidity. Ms. Jamtin is basically positioning indigenous people as being backwards, back to nature folks living like it’s hundreds of years ago.

But, hey, perhaps they could educate all the Warmist leaders about the hypocrisy of taking tons of fossil fueled trips to places like Bonn, Germany, to complain about Other People using fossil fuels.

ICE To Sanctuary State California: You Bet We’re Going To Be Doing More Neighborhood Raids

You could have seen this coming a mile away, once California Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown signed the sanctuary state bill

(Sacramento Bee) The Trump administration’s immigration chief warned Friday that his agents will be making more arrests in California neighborhoods and workplaces because Gov. Jerry Brown signed a “sanctuary state” law.

Tom Homan, acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said Brown’s decision to sign Senate Bill 54, which offers more protections for unauthorized immigrants, undermines public safety and hinders his department from performing its federally mandated mission, adding that “the governor is simply wrong when he claims otherwise.”

SB 54 “will inevitably result in additional collateral arrests, instead of focusing on arrests at jails and prisons where transfers are safer for ICE officers and the community,” Homan warned.

Arresting illegals in safe places like courthouses would have been the smarter move for California, as well as allowing ICE to take the illegals into custody at jails. Now? We’ll surely see more Outrage when ICE tags illegals at their homes and other places more often. And, this being Homan, who is a hardliner (meaning he respects the Law) on illegal immigration, he will direct ICE agents to be move visible to send a message, which Trump will approve of. Homan had wanted to avoid neighborhood sweeps, but, now he and ICE are put in a place where they need to be conducted.

(Senate President Pro Tem Kevin) De León, speaking at a rally for the bill Thursday in Los Angeles, also acknowledged it would not stop ICE from “trolling our streets,” or provide “full” sanctuary for unauthorized immigrants.

“The Trump administration is once again making heavy-handed threats against California because we won’t help them tear apart families and our economy in the process,” de León said in a statement Friday responding to Homan. “The acting ICE director’s inaccurate statement exemplifies the fear-mongering and lies that guide this administration.”

Let’s unpack that: De Leon is saying that law and order is a bad thing, that allowing people who have committed crimes and are unlawfully present in the United States to be arrested is a bad thing, that illegal aliens should be placed over the needs of lawful citizens.

Referring to another bill Brown signed, Senate Bill 29, which restricts the ability to contract with ICE for detention facilities, Homan said, “ICE will also likely have to detain individuals arrested in California in detention facilities outside of the state, far from any family they may have in California.”

If California is looking for someone to Blame, they should look to their elected officials. Said officials should consider that they, and the people who work for California, at places like jails, could find themselves on the wrong side of federal law for things like sheltering and harboring illegal aliens, for providing aid and comfort.

Unhinged Hat Snatching Snowflake To Soon Get Special Lesson On Legal System

If you haven’t seen the amazing video of Special Snowflake Edith Macias taking the MAGA hat from Matthew Vitale’s head and then ranting on about this and that and the other, it should be watched. It’s an education in the mindset of the entitled Special Snowflakes who are Offended and demand that people have their 1st Amendment Rights taken away over it. Edith could soon get an different type of education

(Fox News) A college student in California who says he was assaulted by a classmate for wearing a ‘MAGA’ hat on campus said he plans to file criminal charges against his attacker.

Matthew Vitale, a member of the University of California, Riverside Republicans, said he was “stunned” when classmate Edith Macias snatched his “Make America Great Again” hat from his head during a campus meeting.

Vitale alerted authorities after the incident but declined to press charges because campus police told him it would only be a misdemeanor. But then Macias posted a bizarre, profanity-laced “SnatchAHat” video online, which eventually went viral, that showed her physically removing the hat from his head – and then verbally attacking him for promoting “genocide.” By showing that she took it off his person, the crime rose to the level of felony, Vitale said campus police told him.

Free speech doesn’t cover felony theft. And Vitale is going to press charges

“Honestly, this isn’t me trying to get revenge on her,” he told Todd Starnes during a Fox News Radio interview, “this is me just trying to say: ‘Look, behavior like this is not tolerated in this country. There are individual rights and individual freedoms that we are granted as per the constitution, that everybody’s granted. It doesn’t matter what your beliefs are.’”

There’s nothing wrong with getting “revenge” on her for stealing his property while wearing it, refusing to give it back, and going on a deranged Snowflake rant accusing him of things like genocide for wearing a hat. She screeches in the video “Look at the kind of sh*t he’s wearing, You know what this represents? This represents genocide—genocide of a bunch of people.”

Lunatic supporters started a Statement Of Solidarity With Edith Macias, which is as nutty as you’d expect. Perhaps seeing Edith charged with a felony will give them a glimpse into how the Real World works and changed their behavior? Probably not. They’ve been trained to be Unhinged Snowflakes.

The statement also claims that Macias has been “doxxed” and “harassed,” and they demand the university pay Macias’ rent, grant her amnesty, cover her legal fees, condemn white supremacist violence, and support a sanctuary campus.

Furthermore, Edith started a GoFundMe page asking for rent money, because she’s obviously the victim here, which is what the Statement of Solidarity also makes clear. Trump supporters have been answering the call, letting her know that Trump supporters donating.

As for the university? They went the squishy route

“The university stands very strongly for free speech and its protections, and for a congenial dialogue on campus,” university spokesman John Warren said. “The students on our campus have used this episode to affirm their support for free expression, and a productive exchange of ideas.”

Not once did they come out as being against theft because someone is Offended.

More Details Emerge On Repeal Of Obama’s “Clean Power Plan”

Team Trump seems utterly serious about killing the horrendous executive over-reach

(Washington Post)  The Trump administration plans to scrap former president Barack Obama’s signature plan for reducing greenhouse-gas emissions from the nation’s power plants, arguing that the previous administration overstepped its legal authority, according to a 43-page proposal obtained by The Washington Post.

The proposal, which is expected to be made public over the coming days, comes months after President Trump issued a directive instructing the Environmental Protection Agency to begin rewriting the controversial 2015 regulation, known as the Clean Power Plan, as part of a broader effort to obliterate his predecessor’s efforts to make combating climate change a top government priority.

In a copy of the proposed repeal, first reported by Bloomberg News, the EPA does not offer an alternative plan for regulating emissions of carbon dioxide, which the Supreme Court has ruled that the agency is obligated to do. Rather, the agency said it plans to seek public input on how best to cut emissions from natural-gas and coal-fired power plants.

First, the Supreme Court did not rule that the EPA was obligated to regulate carbon dioxide output, it (erroneously) stated that the EPA could do this under existing law. Second, any executive order/regulation can be done away with/changed when it is not specifically called for by Congressional legislation.

The Clean Power Plan directed every state to form detailed plans to reduce CO2 emissions from such sources as coal-fired power plants, with the goal of decreasing carbon pollution by about one-third by 2030, compared with 2005 levels. But the regulation has been a lightning rod since its inception.

Interestingly, no states, especially the Warmist led ones, have actually come up with viable plans that have submitted to the EPA at this time, as required. There are a bunch of “we’re thinking abouts”, and a few, like California, are going there own way. But no real plans. Except for the non-Warmist states, which said “piss off” and “our plan is to sue” and did.

So much of the dictatorial stain of Obama is being washed away.

New Blade Runner Gives ‘Climate Change’ A Starring Role

Instead of just making a great movie to follow up with the original, one of the great all time science fiction movies, based on the story Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K Dick, they decided to give it a Message, guaranteeing lower box office draws

(Washington Examiner)  The sequel to the 1982 science-fiction classic “Blade Runner,” which opens nationwide Friday, looks to give climate change a starring role, according to official summaries and timelines released by the film’s production house.

Set 30 years in the future from the original film’s 2019 setting, “Blade Runner 2049” shows an Earth devastated by the ravages of climatic shifts in temperature and sea-level rise, which has plunged large chunks of Los Angeles into the Pacific Ocean.

The film’s website says L.A. has been forced to erect a colossal sea wall around the remaining parts of the city. By the looks of it, the wall also generates electricity through a complex hydropower conduit and wave-power system. (snip)

The film also looks at contemporary ideas of replacing cattle and sheep farming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by limiting industrial-scale animal processing. It’s an idea that has grown in popularity in Europe, where restaurants offer insect protein as a substitute to beef, lamb, and chicken.

The Examiner does say this, though

As far as the film’s politics, “Blade Runner 2049” does not appear to be trying to make a statement on climate change. Like the first film, it offers only enough explanation to drive the story. The rest is left to the viewer to interpret.

In other words, they’ll probably yammer about it in the early part of the film, and in interviews about the film, and ruin it. I’ll wait till it’s at Red Box now.

Good News: The Time For Polite Debate On Gun Banning Is Over

When was it ever polite? The gun grabbers have been screeching about gun control, ie, banning guns from the possession of Other People, for a long time, much in the way they have been screeching about making Free Speech one sided. CNBC gives a platform to Ron Insana, their senior analyst and commentator

The time for polite debate on gun control is over

It would seem that the time for polite debate about gun control is over. Of course, that could have been said many times in the last few decades, beginning in Austin in 1966, and later in Columbine, in Newtown, in Orlando and, of course, now in Las Vegas.

The absolute horror of the Las Vegas massacre should finally make it abundantly clear, to any rational person, that the framers of the Constitution did not have the rights of Stephen Paddock in mind when crafting and drafting the Second Amendment.

Last time I checked, the 2nd Amendment didn’t give people the right to use their Right to commit mass murder. Nope, just read it again, it doesn’t.

We need a much more radical approach to the problems of guns in America.

What’s more radical than calling for gun roundups and the abolition of the 2nd Amendment?

And yet, the NRA, “gun enthusiasts” and Second Amendment conservatives fight tooth and nail for the right to own any, and all, kinds of weapons, even if one’s name is on a terror watch list or a person has a history of mental illness.

These old canards? Sheesh. Get some new material.

Among the more radical solutions that I would propose is for the Congress, the executive and judicial branches of government, in concert with the states, to clearly define what was, and is, meant by a “well-regulated militia,” and refine and re-define the Second Amendment to suit the times in which we live.

In other words, craft legislation to enact a gun grab from law abiding citizens. Isn’t it funny how Democrats always go after the law abiding citizens, rather than the criminals? It’s almost like they support criminals.

It is clear that the Founding Fathers, who lived before the invention of the Gatling gun, could not have envisioned musket-armed civilians, who could fire only one round per minute, commanding the right to hunt turkeys, or humans, with modern ferocity.

Another canard, as the Founders envisioned a document that would last the test of time, which it has. But, here we go, in the very next paragraph

Hence, a total, outright ban on semi-automatic and fully automatic weapons seems not only reasonable but also necessary.

So, the vast majority of guns, since few use revolvers and bolt action (or similar style) rifles. They want to take away the nice, light, easy to use weapons that many women use to protect themselves from the violent criminals enabled by soft on crime Democratic Party policies. I wonder if Insana even understands what a sem-automatic weapon actually is.

And, since this is CNBC, Insana wants investors to make a difference

But investors should challenge these merchants of death. They have done so with other so-called “sin stocks,” like tobacco and alcohol companies.

They have fought the actions of large corporate polluters or companies whose carbon footprints are unreasonably large.

They have brought about positive changes by being true activist investors, not angling for some financially engineered profit, but by making companies more accountable.

Good luck with that.

There also needs to be a massive cultural campaign to re-educate the gun-toting, testosterone-fueled population who believe that carrying a gun is “manly.”

Recently, the largest growing classes of people purchasing firearms, primarily for self defense, are women and those in the LGBT community. But, it’s cute how Insana wants the Government to use propaganda, like the Soviet Union and communist China (and Nazi Germany) to force change to Wrongthink, something the Founders were dead set against.

There’s only so much I can excerpt, and plenty more nutty gun grabbing in the article. It’s funny, Democrats get upset when we say that they’re trying to grab our guns, right before they tell us they want to grab our guns. (not their own guns, of course)

California Governor Signs Sanctuary State Bill In Rebuke To Trump Or Something

When this passed the California General Assembly, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown would sign it. Many outlets, particularly in Brokeifornia, are attempting to make the link that this is about being a rebuke towards Trump, a defiance. That would rather mean that it isn’t about supporting illegal aliens, right, just about being oppositional for the sake of being oppositional

California becomes ‘sanctuary state’ in rebuke of Trump immigration policy

Under threat of possible retaliation by the Trump administration, Gov. Jerry Brown signed landmark “sanctuary state” legislation Thursday, vastly limiting who state and local law enforcement agencies can hold, question and transfer at the request of federal immigration authorities.

Senate Bill 54, which takes effect in January, has been blasted as “unconscionable” by U.S. Atty. Gen. Jeff Sessions, becoming the focus of a national debate over how far states and cities can go to prevent their officers from enforcing federal immigration laws. Supporters have hailed it as part of a broader effort by majority Democrats in the California Legislature to shield more than 2.3 million immigrants living illegally in the state.

Brown took the unusual step of writing a signing message in support of SB 54. He called the legislation a balanced measure that would allow police and sheriff’s agencies to continue targeting dangerous criminals, while protecting hardworking families without legal residency in the country.

“In enshrining these new protections, it is important to note what the bill does not do,” Brown wrote. “This bill does not prevent or prohibit Immigration and Customs Enforcement or the Department of Homeland Security from doing their own work in any way.”

That last part seams to be an attempt to head off the retaliation sure to come from the Department Of Justice over a state declaring that they will refuse to enforce federal laws in full, just the ones they like, and that the state will, for the most part, refuse to cooperate with federal officials when it comes to people who are unlawfully present in the United States.

Legal experts have said federal officials may try to block the law in court to keep it from being implemented. Some doubt such challenges would be successful, pointing to the 10th Amendment and previous rulings in which courts have found the federal government can’t compel local authorities to enforce federal laws.

Suddenly, Liberals care about the 10th Amendment. If they truly believe this, then this means that states do not need to follow federal guidance and laws on things like transgenders and gay marriage, right? That they do not need to follow the Environmental Protection Act, right? Or laws on ‘climate change’, right? Or a raft of gun laws, right? Choose wisely, Liberals. Who also bleated that the Arizona law on illegal aliens violate federal law. Can’t have it both ways.

It’s not a rebuke of Trump: it’s a rebuke of duly passed federal law which Trump is enforcing, law for which the federal government was given the task of dealing with any and all immigration by the Constitution. Regardless, this being Trump, you can expect him to deploy tons of ICE agents to California to pick illegals up in all the places liberals complain about, like at court. Or, he could simply discuss this in a way that will get as many illegals as possible to stream to California, further destroying the infrastructure and tax base.

In the North State area of California, though, they are in opposition to this legislation

A handful of North State counties and cities passed declarations earlier this year saying they’d help federal immigration officials nab undocumented immigrants who ended up in jail, but now’s the time to see how that really plays out. As of Thursday, those anti-sanctuary jurisdictions are operating inside an official “sanctuary state.” (snip)

The first to introduce the idea of an anti-sanctuary resolution, Tehama County Supervisor Bob Williams, said Thursday that the new law is “little more than another piece of ‘Resist Trump’ legislation that seems to be in fashion in Sacramento these days.”

Pretty much

“Instead of federal immigration sending two officers in one car to the jail to pick up and deport the offender, they may instead send a group of officers, dressed in full gear, to the last known address of the offender, to arrest and deport every undocumented individual in that household,” he said.

AG Sessions would be up for this

“This law will cause the further release of criminals such as repeat drunk drivers, thieves, gang members and more from the jail here and jails throughout California,” Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko said in a statement Thursday. “These are criminals who are illegal undocumented persons victimizing our citizens.”

California Dems do not care. They have some resisting to do. And they’ll Blamestorm others when this policy creates more problems for citizens.

Surprise: NY Times Recommends Repealing The 2nd Amendment

Remember when we were told that the NY Times was hiring a conservative for the opinion pages? Now go back and look at the body of work for Brett Stephens. He makes other so-called Republicans, like the Washington Post’s Kathleen Parker and Jennifer Rubin look like the second coming of Reagan.

Repeal the Second Amendment

I have never understood the conservative fetish for the Second Amendment.

From a law-and-order standpoint, more guns means more murder. “States with higher rates of gun ownership had disproportionately large numbers of deaths from firearm-related homicides,” noted one exhaustive 2013 study in the American Journal of Public Health.

From a personal-safety standpoint, more guns means less safety. The F.B.I. counted a total of 268 “justifiable homicides” by private citizens involving firearms in 2015; that is, felons killed in the course of committing a felony. Yet that same year, there were 489 “unintentional firearms deaths” in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Between 77 and 141 of those killed were children.

From a national-security standpoint, the Amendment’s suggestion that a “well-regulated militia” is “necessary to the security of a free State,” is quaint. The Minutemen that will deter Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un are based in missile silos in Minot, N.D., not farmhouses in Lexington, Mass.

It’d be a whole lot safer if we banned hammers, baseball bats, and motor vehicles. Oh, and bathtubs. Can’t forget about them.

I wonder what Madison would have to say about that today, when more than twice as many Americans perished last year at the hands of their fellows as died in battle during the entire Revolutionary War. My guess: Take the guns—or at least the presumptive right to them—away. The true foundation of American exceptionalism should be our capacity for moral and constitutional renewal, not our instinct for self-destruction.

He’d say that that enshrining the 2nd as a specific Amendment was designed to make it so gun grabbers (say, does the Times still have armed security in their building?) would have a really, really tough time attempting to take firearms away from citizens. They made it the 2nd amendment for a reason.

Also, some, like National Review, are trying to say this is more of a warning to Democrats. Hogwash. The first 7-8 paragraphs say that Stephens specifically wants to do away with the 2nd.
