Illegal Alien Supporters Turn On Dick Durbin During Speech

Live by supporting illegal aliens, die by supporting illegal aliens

(Fox News) Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin on Thursday faced the fury of 100 Harvard University students who were angry that Democrats caved in to Republicans’ demands to reopen the government last month without a deal on DACA.

The Illinois Democrat was set to speak on immigration to multiple Harvard affiliates at the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum. But the evening was disrupted as hundreds of students protested despite his previous support for giving amnesty to so-called “Dreamers.”

Demonstrators bearing signs “We Are Not Your Bargaining Chip” were shouting “Say it loud, say it clear — immigrants are welcome here!” and “If we don’t get it? Shut it down!” outside the venue while accompanied by a live band, the Harvard Crimson reported.

There’s no mention of how many of the snowflakes were actually illegal alien Dreamers, but, what they all wanted was a clean DACA bill

Durbin also co-sponsored a bill called the Dream Act that would have made the Obama-era DACA program permanent, though it would have included certain Republican demands such as ending the visa lottery and chain migration.

But the protesters on Thursday told the Crimson that the eliminations were unacceptable and Democrats should focus on guaranteeing rights to DACA recipients without any changes to the immigration policies.

If Democrats want to go down this road, they’ll get nothing. Republicans, who control the House and have a bare majority in the Senate, will not vote for a “clean” DACA bill, and, if they managed to do so, Trump would most likely not sign it. Putting one into law would be a guarantee of a midterm wipeout for the GOP, more losses in 2020, and Trump losing in a landslide in 2020, as Republican voters would refuse to vote GOP.

“When we needed them to hold the line down for us, they weren’t doing that,” Hyo-won “Esther” Jeon – a DACA recipient – told the paper, noting that Democrats must use government shutdowns as leverage to pass progressive legislation. “Every time they kick the can down the road, all they’re doing is making people more vulnerable to deportation.”

“I know that if the Dream Act passes and it’s not a clean Dream Act, I would feel nothing but guilt that this is what it took for me to become a U.S. citizen,” student Laura S. Veira said at the event.

How cute: people who are unlawfully present in the U.S. attempting to dictate the terms of our politics. Dictating the terms of how they can be legalized. One would think that Dreamers would be humble and saying “please” and “thank you”, not demanding and overbearing. If Laura would feel guilty, well, she can leave. It’s amazing that she’s telling the Democrats to keep shutting the government down so she can get cheap, easy citizenship. The Harvard Crimson ends with this line from Laura

“I don’t remember a time where I constantly didn’t wish for papers,” Veira said.

There’s an answer for that: apply for citizenship the lawful way. Do it like other people do. And don’t presume that you can tell the U.S. how it’s going to do things.

Democrats Awesome New Idea: Repeal Tax Cuts

What a great platform going into the 2018 midterms: “vote for us! We’ll raise your taxes!”

(The Hill) Democrats are vowing to undo parts of the GOP’s tax-code overhaul if they win back control of the House in November, hoping President Trump’s first major domestic achievement will be a liability for the Republicans in the midterm elections.

The effort is reminiscent of the Republicans’ long-drawn campaign to hammer away at the Affordable Care Act and turn President Obama’s signature health-care expansion into a down-ballot albatross for the Democrats — an effort that helped the Republicans retake the House with sweeping election victories in 2010.

“We should repeal it and I think we should offer an alternative tax plan, which is we’re going to provide the tax relief to the middle class and the working class,” said Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.).

Democratic leaders are encouraging their troops to stage district-based tax-reform “teach-ins” designed to convince voters “what this tax scam means to families,” in the words of the direct appeal from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

So, the party of loving every type of tax increase, one which instituted lots of little tax increases through Obamacare, which would love a carbon tax, which institutes taxes on “sugary drinks”, wants to take away a tax that gives more money to middle and lower class citizens, and has seen company after company give employees more money in the form of stock, 401K ventures, bonuses, and/or actual raises? That’s a winning formula!

Republicans are ready to hammer Democrats for vowing to repeal much of the tax law, arguing their opponents would be foolish to run on a message of raising taxes.

“I would welcome Democrats running for election based on, ‘Let us slow down the American economy, raise taxes and make sure people’s paychecks are stagnant for another decade,’ ” House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-Texas) told reporters earlier this week.

“That would be a terrible campaign theme for them to run on, but I welcome them to do it,” he said.

They should go for it. Perhaps they can run some commercials talking about how $1,000 is just crumbs, as Nancy Pelosi has repeatedly stated. The article continues that the Democrats and their interest groups think this is all a winning combination, which seems to be more of a “soak the rich” scheme, as usual.

ICE Directs Agents To Go After Illegal Aliens At Court Houses

ICE has made the policy official

(Newsweek) Immigration agents are being told it is official U.S. government policy to capture and detain undocumented immigrants in federal, state and local courthouses.

The new guidelines were reportedly formalized Wednesday. The policy, however, runs counter to concerns raised by civil rights groups; California’s Supreme Court chief justice, Tani Cantil-Sakauye; and so-called sanctuary cities, where local authorities do not, as a rule, turn over illegal immigrants to federal officials.

“Courthouse arrests are often necessitated by the unwillingness of jurisdictions to cooperate with ICE in the transfer of custody of aliens from their prisons and jails,” wrote U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Acting Director Thomas Homan in the directive, dated January 10, arguing for its necessity.

Homan points out that illegals tend to be a bit easier to arrest, since they will have been screened for weapons.

The new directive tells agents to specifically go after those with criminal pasts, including gang members and those with criminal convictions as well as those who have been ordered to leave the U.S. and people who have re-entered illegally after being deported.

It also tells agents not to arrest family members or friends accompanying the undocumented person they’re targeting, or other undocumented immigrants who are appearing as a witness in a case. Making arrests in family or small claims courts is also out of bounds, the directive said.

This won’t satisfy the people who support illegal aliens, who clearly also support the criminals, as they caterwaul about detaining them in a manner that makes it safe for law enforcement.

Good News: We Can Battle The Climate Change Scam Without Washington!

Excitable Bill McKibben is very excited over the prospect. Can you guess what’s missing in his recommendations?

We can battle climate change without Washington DC. Here’s how

….

Winning those elections is crucial in other ways – it will help the effort to play defense on issues including the environment – but since global warming is an immediate battle with enormous consequences, we dare not wait for Washington to return to sanity.

And happily, we don’t have to.

The strategy that’s been evolving for US climate action – and for action in many other parts of the planet – bypasses the central governments as much as possible. That’s because the oil industry is strongest in national capitols – that’s where its money is most toxically powerful. But if frontal attack is therefore hard, its flanks are wide open.

And here we go

It has three main components.

The first – joining in work pioneered by groups like the Sierra Club – is to persuade towns, cities, counties, and states to pledge to make the transition to 100% renewable energy. This is now easy and affordable enough that it doesn’t scare politicians – cities from San Diego to Atlanta have joined in, and they will help maintain the momentum towards clean energy that the Trump administration is trying so hard to blunt.

Job two is to block new fossil fuel infrastructure. In some places, that will be by law: Portland, Oregon, recently passed a bill banning new pipes and such, over the strenuous objections of the industry. In other places it will take bodies – tens of thousands have already pledged to journey to the upper midwest if and when TransCanada decides to build out the Keystone XL pipeline that Trump has permitted.

And third is to cut off the money that fuels this industry – by divestment, which has now begun to take a real and telling toll ($6tn worth of endowments and portfolios have joined the fight, and studies show it is cutting the capital companies need to keep exploring for oil we don’t), and by the kinds of lawsuits that New York, San Francisco and a host of other cities have already filed.

Interestingly, there’s no mention of Cult of Climastrology members giving up their own use of fossil fuels. It may get tedious reading that same thing. It’s tedious writing it. Yet, it is a very important idea. Warmists want Everyone Else to be forced to comply with something they themselves refuse to do. On Wednesday, 350.org, McKibben’s organization, held a Climate State Of The Union rally, with their push for a Fossil Free US. How many Warmists took fossil fueled trips from all over the U.S. to attend?

Look at Portland: they may not be allowing new pipes and such, but, they aren’t banning fossil fuels. The city itself continues to use fossil fuels. Look at McKibben: he takes fossil fueled flights all over the world. Why should we listen to these people? Would you listen to your doctor who smells like cigarettes if he/she was telling you to quit? If your doctor was telling you to lose weight when it was clear they themselves were vastly overweight?

ZOMG, Trump’s Saturday Night Massacre Is Totally Happening Before Our Eyes!

I ran across a post at Sad And Useless yesterday about Modern Journalism. Go ahead and click the link first…..OK, now you have an idea of the over-the-top, unhinged, make everything beyond rationality journalism of today. Moving forward, we get this bit of insanity by Norman Eisen, Caroline Fredrickson, and Noah Bookbinder at Politico

Trump’s Saturday Night Massacre Is Happening Right Before Our Eyes

The FBI issued an extraordinary statement on Wednesday, pushing back on the release of a partisan congressional memo alleging the bureau used improper evidence to obtain legal permission to surveil a Trump campaign adviser. We’ve never seen anything like it. “[T]he FBI was provided a limited opportunity to review this memo the day before the committee voted to release it,” the bureau said. “As expressed during our initial review, we have grave concerns about material omissions of fact that fundamentally impact the memo’s accuracy.”

As John Hinderaker explains, he has grave concerns, too. Concerns that the FBI and DOJ acted beyond improperly in the runup to the 2016 elections, and have become beyond politicized.

The memo, written by Congressman Devin Nunes and barreling toward public circulation at the president’s discretion, has already created a firestorm, and it is not even out yet. Nunes fired back at the FBI hours later, claiming, “It’s clear that top officials used unverified information in a court document to fuel a counterintelligence investigation during an American political campaign.”

Let’s be clear about what’s happening here: This memo is the latest escalation in an eight-month effort to tarnish the Russia investigation that might be the most significant smear campaign against the executive branch since Joe McCarthy—only here, the effort is being led by the head of that branch himself. As the New York Times reported, the Nunes memo seems like a dagger aimed by President Trump at Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is supervising the Russia probe for the Justice Department.

Interestingly, that 8 month effort has brought forth nothing that shows collusion, and no wrong-doing in line with the whole idea of the investigation. There have been a few process issues, and Mueller and his team have gone way off track in looking at things that have nothing to do with Russian interference. After all this time, one would think there would be something. Something that says “hey, there was collusion!” Which, while despicable, would not be illegal.

Unlike the investigation into Watergate, which is where the Saturday Night Massacre comes from, when “Nixon fired fired Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox and accepted the resignations of Attorney General Elliot Richardson and Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus.”

Hinderaker wrote

I’m so old, I can remember when liberals were in favor of revealing corruption in institutions like the FBI. Those days, of course, are long gone.

Yes, they are. They know there are serious problems in the FBI and DOJ. The Nunes memo will expose some of that corruption and politicization. And it could be the start of exposing Obama and his cronies. Which is why you get turn the volume to 11 articles like the Politico one.

Washington Post: Trump Poisoned The Debate On Legalizing 11 Million Illegals Or Something

The Washington Post Editorial is rather vexed at Trump’s position on illegal immigration, and, much like Jorge Ramos, lets the cat out of the bag

Trump could’ve embraced an immigration deal. Instead, he poisoned the debate.

IN HIS State of the Union address, President Trump seemed intent on burying any chance of enacting legislation to protect the “dreamers.” Instead of reaching out to Democrats to fashion a readily achievable compromise, the president injected more ethno-nationalist venom into a debate he already has done much to poison.

Eleven million immigrants are living in this country without legal documentation, but the vast majority of them are otherwise law-abiding. In fact, they are overwhelmingly employed, long-term residents who contribute to their communities in all manner of ways……

If they’re employed, they aren’t doing it legally. One needs a social security number or a work permit to do that: illegal aliens aren’t eligible for those. Plus other documents for an I9, which would knock them out. So, they’re either using someone else’s identity, or they’re working off the books. Either way, they’re taking jobs from Americans. And could be ruining the credit and identities of legal U.S. citizens.

…That is especially true of the dreamers, young people brought to this country as children by their parents. Very few Americans want to see the dreamers rounded up and deported, so you’d think a president would search for common ground to prepare the way for their eventual path to citizenship.

He did. He laid out a path for way more than the 800K Dreamers we typically hear about, to the consternation of his base. And, it included a path to citizenship, no just legalization. But, it is interesting that the WPEB is now discussing all 11 million illegals getting legal status, is it not?

Instead, Mr. Trump chose in the most inflammatory way possible to associate immigrants with a horrific crime committed by a vicious gang. Rather than reminding Americans of their common roots as immigrants and stressing that immigration is the cornerstone of the American story, Mr. Trump vilified them. He would have Americans believe that compassionate treatment for unaccompanied minors who cross the border, often fleeing violence and poverty, or family-based immigration is somehow akin to acquiescing in the homicidal nihilism of MS-13.

Much like many Democrats, the WPEB heard what they wanted to hear, and it’s also interesting that they chose to hear that violent illegal aliens are the same as all illegal aliens. That’s pretty racist/bigoted/prejudicial, is it not? Regardless, for most of us, our forebearers came to this country in a lawful manner, rather than sneaking across the border or overstaying visas, then Demanding citizenship for free.

Mr. Trump could have sought a constructive way forward. He could have urged Congress to forge a straightforward deal — a shield for the dreamers in return for border security. Some Democrats would be reluctant to give the president his “beautiful wall”; some Republicans would balk at “amnesty” for dreamers. But if Mr. Trump embraced the deal, so would Congress.

Instead, he attempted to expropriate the grief of four of his guests in the gallery: parents still mourning the brutal 2016 murder of their teenage daughters on Long Island. That won’t earn him the moral high ground, but it may well deepen the nation’s divisions and further complicate the fate of nearly 2 million young immigrants about whom Mr. Trump has said, “I love these kids.”

It’s interesting that the WPEB is simply blowing off the concerns of these people who had their teenage daughters brutally murdered by illegal aliens. During the gun debate, they’re often the ones saying “if we could save just one life…”

Maybe the saddest moment of the speech came when Mr. Trump tried to knock the dreamers off their sympathetic perch with the cleverly contemptuous line, “Americans are dreamers, too.” Yes, of course, Americans are dreamers. But he should finish the thought. For most dreamers, the United States is the only country they know. Dreamers are U.S. soldiers, high school valedictorians, the young couple living next door. Yes, Americans are dreamers — and dreamers are Americans. If only we had a president who understood as much.

Then perhaps the “Dreamers” should have come here legally. Perhaps they could have applied for legal status the lawful way. Not demanding that America give them food, healthcare, education, money, jobs, a place to live, and citizenship.

If the WPEB wants to poison the well, by all means keep this assault up on Trump, which will cause him to say “eh, never mind. Moving on. Could have been a beautiful bill, beautiful.” And interjecting 11 million illegals into the debate will cause a backlash from Republicans, much less Trump’s base, and the whole thing will be scuttled.

Say, What’s The Dreamer Fight Really About?

And that’s pretty much it in a nutshell. This is why they want a “clean” DACA bill, whereby all the Dreamers are given legalized status up to free citizenship with no border or interior security measures. That way the open borders continue, and then they want more amnesty.

And, again, why would we give any legalized status to the parents who brought the kids illegally? If they were the ones who “sinned”, and we shouldn’t punish the kids, then we need to punish the parents.

So, maybe it’s time to just move on from all this silliness, and just enforce federal law, and start deporting all of them. Democrats do not want to work in good faith. The Dreamers are demanding. Deport them all.
