‘Climate Change’ Could Maybe Possibly Ruin Golf In The Future Or Something

They just keep trying to scare us, eh?

Report: Future Open Championship venues could be threatened by climate change

The Open Championship celebrated its 146th edition last summer at Royal Birkdale. The rotation of 10 different courses has been mostly the same for the last few decades, but a recent report noted that the event might not make it 146 moretournaments with the current venues.

According to the BBC, which reviewed a report by the Climate Coalition, various courses on the coasts of the UK are in peril because of climate change and a rising North Sea.

Sea-level rise poses the greatest long-term threat to golf in the UK. More than one in six of Scotland’s 600 golf courses are located on the coast — including the Old Course at St Andrews, Royal Troon and Montrose Golf Links in Angus. ‘Links’ are the oldest type of golf courses, developed in Scotland, and located on the coast on ‘links land’ — characterized by dunes, sandy soil and fine-textured grassland.

The R&A, the governing body for golf outside the USA and Mexico, recognizes the risk, while only a small increase in sea-level rise would imperil all of the world’s links courses before the end of the century. Along with the damage they can do to course playability, increased rainfall and storms — exacerbated by climate change — are posing participation challenges.

Every single gauge in the U.K. shows minimal sea rise, well below what would be expected for a Holocene warm period. Lerwick actual shows a minimal decrease. In fact, every Atlantic and northern country for Europe I’ve checked shows way less than an expected 1 foot per century. They’re all pretty much Holocene average, when they should all be much higher. But, facts do not matter, because this is about scaring people.

Good News: Young Warmists Recognized For Being Warmists Due To Un-Scientific Propaganda

Nothing says “I totally believe in science” like basing your beliefs off of something that is simply propaganda

Two Portland students being recognized for their efforts to address climate change

Two Portland middle schoolers are fighting to address climate change. It’s a fight to educate local students and lawmakers that’s now being recognized around the world.

“We’re the ones affected the most by climate change,” said Jeremy Clark. “We have to do something.”

Eighth graders Jeremy Clark and Charlie Abrams began their mission after Clark saw a cover of National Geographic Magazine.

“I was in the fourth grade and I saw this National Geographic Magazine and the picture on the front was the Statue of Liberty and she was up to her waist in water. It said this is the ice that melted,” said Clark. “I thought, well I don’t want that to happen.”

The two decided to create their own blog they’ve named twogreenleaves.org. It’s a website meant to teach their peers about climate change.

This is all based on junk science. The Statue Of Liberty is not going to see sea rise up to her waist. It’s not going to see sea rise to the top of the pedestal. Heck, probably not even up to the pedestal.

This is the kind of garbage kids are being taught and exposed to

Rand Paul: When Republicans Are In Power, There Is No Conservative Party

Rand Paul’s speech on the Senate floor has annoyed many Republicans, and caused a brief shutdown. Perhaps these Republicans should have listened to the speech

(Real Clear Politics) When the Democrats are in power, Republicans appear to be the conservative party. But when Republicans are in power, it seems there is no conservative party.

You see, opposition seems to bring people together, and they know what they’re not for. But then they get in power and they decide, we’re just going to spend that money too. We’re going to send that money to our friends this time. (snip)

The dirty little secret is that, by and large, both parties don’t care about the debt.

The spending bill is 700 pages, and there will be no amendments.

The debate, although it’s somewhat inside baseball that we’re having here, is over me having a 15-minute debate. And they say, ‘Woe is me! If you get one, everybody will want an amendment.’

Well, that would be called debate.

That would be called an open process.

That would be called concern for your country, enough to take a few minutes.

And they’re like, ‘But it’s Thursday, and we like to be on vacation on Fridays.’

And so they clamor. We’ve been sitting around all day. It’s not like we’ve had 100 amendments today, we’re all worn out and can’t do one more. We’re going to have zero amendments. Zero, goose egg, no amendments.

There’s lots more to this. Click over to the RCP article to read it all, and there is video. You can see why Republicans would be upset, because Senator Paul was simply telling the truth, and roasting Republicans for this spending. That spending bill is 700 pages long?

(The Hill) The House approved a sweeping budget deal early Friday morning that would fund the government through March 23, sending legislation to President Trump that would end a brief shutdown of the government that began at midnight.

That’s right, a 700 page spending bill, which spends lots and lot, and only goes through March 23. Supposedly we’ll see a real budget by then

The bill will fund the government until March 23, which will give lawmakers time to write an omnibus spending bill for the rest of the fiscal year and break the pattern of gridlock that has led to five temporary funding patches since September.

We can’t depend on Republicans to reign in spending. Sure, it’ll be a bit better than if Democrats were in charge, but not much.

Draft Rules Could Limit Legal Immigrants Who Use Public Benefits

Why are legal immigrants using public benefits in the first place? People who immigrate attempting citizenship are barred from using public benefits. They have to show that they can take care of themselves, that they won’t be a drain on government coffers

(Reuters) The Trump administration is considering making it harder for foreigners living in the United States to get permanent residency if they or their American-born children use public benefits such as food assistance, in a move that could sharply restrict legal immigration.

The Department of Homeland Security has drafted rules seen by Reuters that would allow immigration officers to scrutinize a potential immigrant’s use of certain taxpayer-funded public benefits to determine if they could become a public burden.

For example, U.S. officials could look at whether the applicant has enrolled a child in government pre-school programs or received subsidies for utility bills or health insurance premiums.

The draft rules are a sharp departure from current guidelines, which have been in place since 1999 and specifically bar authorities from considering such non-cash benefits in deciding a person’s eligibility to immigrate to the United States or stay in the country.

“Non-citizens who receive public benefits are not self-sufficient and are relying on the U.S. government and state and local entities for resources instead of their families, sponsors or private organizations,” the document states. “An alien’s receipt of public benefits comes at taxpayer expense and availability of public benefits may provide an incentive for aliens to immigrate to the United States.”

Why would we allow immigrants to reside in the U.S., and potentially become permanent legal residents, or even citizens, who have to rely on the government in such a manner? Virtually every first world country has the same requirements, namely that any immigrant must not rely upon government services. They have to be able to support themselves.

U.S. immigration law has long required officials to exclude a person likely to become a “public charge” from permanent residence. But current U.S. guidelines, in place since 1999, narrowly define “public charge” to be a person “primarily dependent on the government for subsistence,” either through direct cash assistance or government-funded long-term care.

In other words, the Clinton administration made it easier for people who depend on Government to come to and stay in the U.S.

“It’s going to scare a lot of people into yanking their children off of needed healthcare, school programs, child nutrition programs, basic sorts of subsistence-level programs that have kept the population healthy and employable,” said Charles Wheeler, director of training and legal support at Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc.

Why are we allowing in immigrants who depend on government to this degree to start with? Would it not be better than we take care of our own first?

Olympics: Coin Tosses Are Now Raaaaacist

See, what happened here is

(AP) Hamlin and Davis were among eight nominees for the flagbearer role, and athletes from each of the eight winter sports federations — bobsled and skeleton, ski and snowboarding, figure skating, curling, biathlon, hockey, speedskating and luge — represented those nominees in a balloting that took place Wednesday night.

Eventually, the final vote was deadlocked at 4-4. Hamlin won a coin toss, the predetermined method of picking a winner if all else failed in the athlete-led process. The U.S. Olympic Committee confirmed the tie, and that voters knew if the tie couldn’t be broken by them the coin toss would have to occur.

Seem pretty clear cut, does it not? Established rules. Perhaps next time they should have gone to 3 on 3 overtime followed by a shoot out? Becaaaaaaaauuuuuuuse

https://twitter.com/ShaniDavis/status/961534274586464256

Sour grapes. Whiny. Erin Hamlin is the only American of either gender (yes, there are just two) to win a medal in singles luge. The inclusion of #BlackHistoryMonth2018 shows that Shani was going for the raaaaacism aspect.

‘Climate Change’ Isn’t Just About The Planet Or Something

I had another Hotcoldwetdry piece I was going to comment on, in which the Warmists were calling for total redistribution of wealth, which seems to be one of the main points of the AGW push, with everyone in the 1st world being forced to live a 2nd/3rd world life, but, this is even more fun

Climate Change Isn’t Just About the Planet
It’s about justice: racial, social, socioeconomic, reproductive, and environmental. It’s about immigration reform, LGBTQIA+ rights, and religious freedom.

It’s not really necessary to go beyond the headline and subhead. It’s all right there. But, let’s take a look at what Snowflake Yeehi Yona, who’s too young to actually understand the world, whines about. Starts out with lots of gripes, going to Trump, Scott Pruitt, Rick Perry, Rex Tillerson, pulling out of Paris climate agreement, and so forth, before reaching

However, this summer, I couldn’t even think about wildfires breaking across the continent without thinking about trans rights. I couldn’t think about Hurricane Irma without thinking about DACA.

Climate change isn’t just about the planet. It’s about justice: racial, social, socioeconomic, reproductive, and environmental. It’s about immigration reform, LGBTQIA+ rights, and religious freedom. I know this interconnectedness, and fervently believed in it when I wrote my initial essay submission last year.

However, in this moment, I find myself unable to think of climate change on its own. When Trump’s policy is climate destruction, it doesn’t take place in silos. I cannot consider Hurricane Harvey without my mind racing to the undocumented families who could not leave Houston because ICE maintained checkpoints and borders. I cannot think about climate change without thinking about Charlottesville, about the long legacy of racism, xenophobia, and fascism in this country, and how the communities most affected by Trump’s environmental rollbacks will be poor communities of color. If anything has changed in my mind since last year, it is that my connection to so many struggles for social justice are even more strongly at the forefront.

She’s really just saying what we’ve known for awhile now: anthropogenic climate change is really just a part of the overall Progressive (nice Fascist) movement. It’s an excuse to implement more taxes/fees along with control by the Government over citizens, private entities, and economies. Wrongthink is not allowed. Freedom is not allowed. You’ll think and act the way government dictates. Interestingly, these same little Warmists never consider that these authoritarian leanings, as well as the taxes/fees and higher cost of living, will ever effect themselves.

Bummer: Dreamers Promise To Self-Deport If Amnesty Fails

Is this supposed to be a threat?

(Breitbart) Some illegal aliens shielded from deportation by the President Obama-created Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program are planning to self-deport from the United States if an amnesty is not passed soon, according to a CNN report.

Alex and Daniela Velez, two illegal alien sisters enrolled in the DACA program, were profiled for a CNN report which revealed how some illegal aliens are planning to leave the U.S. if they do not receive amnesty.

CNN reported:

“Alex and I are both over this [DACA situation],” said Daniela, who is 24-years-old. “If DACA ends, I will leave with Alex. I will close my business, leave work and school.”

…

Should Alex, who is 19, find herself unprotected, she said she is clear on what her plan will be. “I will leave. I will leave America as soon as possible,” she said. “I want to be able to leave on my terms. I’m not going to be waiting for anyone to come for me.”

Ok, bye now. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. And take all your illegal alien family members with you.

It’s amazing that these illegals say they love America, it’s the only country they know, yet, are will to leave if they do not get their way.

Though, it’s doubtful they’ll actually leave: this is probably a threat much like all those celebrities claiming they would leave America if Trump won, and, none have.

The tradeoffs will be significant: Alex will be abandoning the $10,000 in tuition she’s paid and the two years’ worth of community college credits she’s built up in her pursuit to become a veterinary technician. She will also have to quit her job at clothing store Forever 21, where she was just promoted to a merchandising position four weeks ago.

So, there would be an open spot for a U.S. citizen at that college, and a job that could go to a U.S. citizen.

Several Democrats Want EPA Head Pruitt To Recuse Himself From Ending The Clean Power Plan

They seem rather shocked that someone who has been against the CPP wants to kill it

(Daily Caller) Four Democratic senators are demanding Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt recuse himself from repealing a former President Barack Obama-era regulation placing significant burdens on fossil fuel energy providers, The Washington Post reports.

Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, Edward J. Markey of Massachusetts, Jeff Merkley of Oregon and Brian Schatz of Hawaii together submitted a comment to the EPA Wednesday on repealing the Clean Power Plan (CPP). The group of Democratic lawmakers claim that Pruitt’s bias toward the CPP — he sued the EPA four times over his term as attorney general of Oklahoma — prevents him from making a fair judgement.

“The evidence for Pruitt’s inalterably closed mind on CPP rulemaking is overwhelming,” the senators wrote, according to The Hill. “It falls into three categories: (1) his deep and wide financial ties to the fossil fuel industry which is ferociously opposed to the CPP; (2) his status as a previous petitioner suing the EPA to block the CPP; and (3) his numerous statements denouncing the CPP, questioning the ability to regulate carbon emissions under the [Clean Air Act] as the CPP proposes to do, and casting doubt on climate science.”

The lawmakers request follows similar comments filed by environmental groups and left-leaning states and cities in January.

Would Pruitt be attempting to kill off CPP if he supported it? Seriously, Democrats are just silly. Have they forgotten that “elections have consequences”? Perhaps they shouldn’t have jammed through a rule that harms citizens and the energy sector for a scam. A scam that most of them, like Sheldon Whitehouse, apparently do not feel applies to them, as they use lots and lots of fossil fuels in their personal and professional lives.

Furthermore, the Supreme Court had blocked implementation of the CPP back in February of 2016. It has never been in force. Twenty seven states sued over it. If these Democrat Senators really love CPP, they should get their states to implement it. We can use them as test-beds to see what happens.
