Democrats Super Excited To Investigate Why Trump Wants U.S. Citizens Counted In Census

You can already see the unhinged Trump Derangement Syndrome overreach in what Democrats plan to do come the next session of Congress with Democrats in control of the House

Democrats to Investigate Why Trump Wants U.S. Citizens Counted on 2020 Census

House Democrats are planning to “immediately” investigate the reason President Donald Trump wants American citizens counted on the upcoming 2020 Census.

In March, President Donald Trump’s administration announced they would put the citizenship question back on the census. It has not been included since 1950. For seven decades, all residents living in the United States have been counted on the census but have not been asked whether or not they are American citizens, making it impossible for the federal government to know the size of the citizen population versus the immigrant population.

Now, as Democrats are preparing to be the majority in the House after the midterm elections, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) — who will chair the House Oversight Committee — told Reuters he will investigate why the Trump administration has put the citizenship question back on the 2020 Census.

“There are certain things that mandate that we look at immediately,” Cummings said. “One of them is the census because that’s right around the corner.”

Cummings said the House Oversight Committee must “figure out why [the citizenship question is] there, because to be very frank with you, we have been told some untruths.”

It’s a very simple equation: people who are unlawfully present in the United States should not be counted for state apportionment nor for federal funding. You could even make an argument that those here on visas shouldn’t be counted either. If someone is here on a student visa or work visa, should they really be counted? They aren’t here more than temporarily. Those who aren’t citizens but are permanent residents or brought in as refugees should be counted, as we allowed them that status. Migrant workers should also not be counted.

Supposedly, this would change the makeup of the House as you’d be reducing the population of many coastal liberal enclaves where illegal aliens reside, and it would move to non-Democrat states. I seriously doubt it would change much, unless there are a lot more illegals than we’re being told, which is possible. It wasn’t that long ago, less than 20 years, that we were told there were over 20 million illegals. Suddenly, that number jumped down to 11 million or so. You also have them in Republican states like Texas, South Carolina, and North Carolina, as well as others.

But, do Democrats really want to do this? Hold hearings into a question that asks citizenship? That wants to exclude illegal aliens from representation? Where it would exclude members of, say, MS-13? This could be a big overreach.

You Don’t Believe In ‘Climate Change’ Because We Measure In Fahrenheit Or Something

You’re just measuring things all wrong

Using Fahrenheit Can Obscure the True Severity of Climate Change

Americans are finally beginning to grasp the profound dangers of climate change. But with many still in denial, it’s important to understand the mental blocks that keep us from acknowledging the need for action.

New research pinpoints one unexpected barrier: the Fahrenheit temperature scale.

In a new paper, researchers report the scale’s central oddity—freezing happens at 32 degrees, as opposed to the more logical 0 degrees Celsius—makes it more difficult for people to grasp the significance of a projected rise in average temperature.

“Is it possible that a mere change in whether the information presented is in Celsius or Fahrenheit will influence one’s perceived concern about climate change?” asks Eugene Chan of Australia’s Monash University. “Our results suggest the answer may be yes.”

In the Journal of Environmental Psychology, Chen describes two studies that make that case. The first featured 332 American adults. All read a brief statement about the seriousness of climate change, followed by one of four sets of statistics.

See, we could totally solve this whole thing if we used Celsius.

Republic, Washington Declares Itself Sanctuary City For Law Abiding Gun Owners

We’ve already seen plenty of jurisdictions, primarily in Illinois, declare themselves sanctuaries against abusive state and federal gun control regulations, though a lot of that was in terms of potential gun laws, as started by Effingham County. Now in Deep Blue Washington

WASHINGTON POLICE CHIEF SAYS NO TO STATE’S NEW GUN LAWS

A Washington state police chief used a department Facebook account to declare his department’s intention to not enforce the state’s new gun laws.

Last Tuesday, over 60 percent of Washington voters approved a sweeping new gun control initiative that raises the age limit for semiautomatic rifle purchases, imposes a 10-day waiting period, and enhances background checks. The National Rifle Association, among other groups, was highly critical of the law.

The Republic Police Facebook post, written by Republic Police Chief Loren Culp and posted the day after the initiative was passed, stated that “no Republic Police Officer will infringe on a citizens right to keep and Bear Arms, PERIOD!” (snip)

Two days later, Culp posted a recommended “2nd Amendment Sanctuary City Ordinance” that would “prevent federal and state infringement on the right to keep and bear arms.”

It’s worth reading the entire Facebook post which is recommending a city ordinance, which starts out

An ORDINANCE of the City of Republic, which shall be known and may be cited as the “2nd Amendment Sanctuary City Ordinance.” To prevent federal and state infringement on the right to keep and bear arms; nullifying all federal and state acts in violation of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States and Article 1 Section 24 of the Washington State Constitution.

WHEREAS, the City of Republic believes that:

A. The 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States reads as follows, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

B. Article 1 section 24 of the Washington State Constitution reads as follows, “The right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself, or the state, shall not be impaired, but nothing in this section shall be construed as authorizing individuals or corporations to organize, maintain or employ an armed body of men.”

C. All federal and State acts, laws, orders, rules or regulations regarding firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition are a violation of the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and Article 1 Section 24 of the Washington State Constitution.

IMO, it goes perhaps a bit too far: there are some governing laws that make sense. I have no problem with requiring someone be at least 18 to purchase, nor properly run Red Flag laws. Limiting automatic weapons. Background checks (I’m betting the Chief is good with those, too). It might have been helpful had the Chief included the phrase “law abiding citizens.”

He also goes on to advocate for neighboring communities to do the same.

Some will say “what’s the difference between this and a sanctuary jurisdiction for illegal aliens?” The gun sanctuaries are supporting the 2nd Amendment rights of law abiding citizens. Sanctuary jurisdictions protect people who are unlawfully present in the United States, and are often involved in other criminal activity.

Bummer: Warmists Learn That Their Climate Commitments Are Expensive

What’s most surprising is that this actually ended up being published by a paper which pushes the man-caused climate change scam

France’s climate change commitments trigger rising diesel prices and street protests

The French president is under fire again, this time over rising fuel prices.

On Saturday, some 244,000 protesters, many clad in yellow vests, literally took the streets in many places, according to the French Interior Ministry. The ministry said a network of drivers blocked roads at some 2,000 locations across the country, generating traffic backups for miles and causing one death.

A 63-year-old protester was killed in the eastern Savoie region when a driver panicked by demonstrators accidentally accelerated into the crowd, French media reported. In other incidents nationwide, 106 people were reported injured, five seriously.

The protesters’ chief complaint: the rising cost of diesel fuel. The recent price hike is a direct result of President Emmanuel Macron’s commitment to curbing climate change, which included higher carbon taxes for 2018, the first full year of his term. But beyond the diesel issue, many turned out Saturday to voice any number of other frustrations with the “president for the rich,” who is seen as increasingly removed from ordinary people’s concerns.

Diesel, a fossil fuel, is known for the pollutants it emits into the air. Although it was traditionally taxed at the same rate as gasoline, that is no longer the case: Taxes on diesel have risen 6.2 percent per liter this year, as part of the government’s efforts to protect clean air. The problem is diesel remains the most common fuel in France, leading many to view recent policies as an attack on working people more than an environmental safeguard.

The Warmist governments had been pushing diesel as a cleaner alternative to gasoline, then, they started cracking down in it. Warmists were super happy to go with all the climate change stuff right up till it hit themselves in the wallet.

Greenpeace Super Excited To Keep People From Learning The Cost Of Carbon Taxes

First, members of the Cult of Climastrology are super excited to agitate for carbon taxes/fess on Other People. Next, they’re super excited to make sure that citizens do not find out that those same taxes/fees are costing them

GREENPEACE REPORTEDLY FIGHTING TO STOP DRIVERS FROM LEARNING ABOUT CARBON TAX COSTS

Greenpeace is reportedly challenging the placement of stickers on gas stations that notify drivers of higher fuel prices due to the implementation of a carbon tax.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford, who has embarked on a pro-energy agenda in his province since entering office, will execute a number of measures to fight back against Canada’s nationwide carbon tax. Besides challenging the carbon tax initiative in court, the conservative politician is looking to include item breakdowns on gas receipts and heating bills, informing customers of how much the carbon fee is costing them.

The Ontario government is also looking to include stickers at gas pumps across the province, informing customers of the fee.

However, Ford’s sticker program is already running into opposition.

Greenpeace — an international environmentalist organization — reportedly announced its intention to mount a challenge. The group is arguing the stickers are deceptive because they do not include the price of inaction on climate change.

Their so-called price of inaction comes from looking into a crystal ball and making it up to support their hardcore agenda.

Sure, climate change exists. There’s no debate on that. The debate is on causation. Warmists claim it is mostly/solely man-caused, particularly from the burning of fossil fuels. Yet, they themselves won’t give up their own use of fossil fuels.

NY Times: Stacey Abrams Concedes Georgia Governor’s Race Ungraciously

Not really. Imagine the headline if it was Republican Brian Kemp who had a hissy fit in conceding. It wouldn’t go like this

The article itself is all about Blaming others, raaaaacism, and being a sore loser. Were it Kemp, the headline would surely be something like Kemp Ends Fight To Be Georgia Governor On Sore Loser Note.

Stacey Abrams ended her Democratic bid to become governor of Georgia on Friday, acknowledging that she did not have the votes to beat her Republican rival, Brian Kemp, but sounding a defiant note by declaring that an “erosion of our democracy” had kept many of her backers from the polls.

The narrow defeat of Ms. Abrams, who would have become the first black woman to be elected governor anywhere in the United States, as well as the apparent loss of Andrew Gillum, who sought to become Florida’s first black governor, at once illuminated the vestiges of Southern history and demonstrated how demographic changes have taken hold across the region and begun to reshape its politics.

See? They only lost because of shenanigans and raaaaacism.

Ms. Abrams, while acknowledging Friday that she could not win, did not concede either.

“More than 200 years into Georgia’s democratic experiment, the state failed its voters,” Ms. Abrams said, her voice alternating among anguish, contempt, frustration and outrage as she argued that “eight years of systemic disenfranchisement, disinvestment and incompetence had its desired effect on the electoral process in Georgia.”

“Let’s be clear: This is not a speech of concession because concession means to acknowledge an action is right, true or proper,” Ms. Abrams said amid a blistering attack on Mr. Kemp’s record as the state’s chief elections regulator and on the balloting process in Georgia. “As a woman of conscience and faith, I cannot concede that.”

As Ms. Abrams ended her campaign, she returned to a theme that had surfaced throughout: that Mr. Kemp, who was the Georgia secretary of state until the Thursday after the election, had used his position to suppress voting and ease his path into the governor’s mansion.

Democrats really are sore losers. Heck, even Trump offered up kind words for Ms. Abrams

But what the NY Times forgot is she’s even more of a sore loser

That’s right, she’s launched a big slush fund, er, PAC, to Do Something.
