IS TRAVELLING TO GOOGLE’S CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE BY PRIVATE JET HYPOCRITICAL?

Film stars, celebrities, politicians and even royalty graced the Sicilian coast with their presence this week, for the 7th annual ‘Google Camp’. The enigmatic conference is known for its exclusivity, with billionaire CEOs jet-setting in to take part in the proceedings, with the hope of working together to effect some sort of change on a global scale. Each year, the theme is different, with previous editions centring around issues like feminism and the role of sports in modern culture. But this year, all eyes were on mother nature, with the theme of climate change at the forefront of the event. (snip)

Given the eco theme of the conference this year, it surely begs the question, shouldn’t a different approach have been applied to travelling to and from the resort, given the pressing environmental issues at hand? In reality, 114 private jets flew into the Italian Verdura Resort, according to the Italian press, and many of the elite guest list arrived in multi million pound yachts. With stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Barack Obama and Prince Harry in attendance, they were hardly going to be hitch-hiking, but even so, the luxurious vehicles seemed not in-keeping with the subject of the conference this year.

Of course, it’s not just the jets, but the megayachts and fossil fueled vehicles, plus the extravagance. Anyhow, on one hand, she says it is hypocritical

Inevitably, celebrities like Katy Perry, Harry Styles, Bradley Cooper and eco fashion designer Stella McCartney, all arrived at the retreat in style. American Businessman Barry Diller, creator of Fox Broadcasting, rocked up on his $200 million yacht Eos, including both sails and two 2,300-horsepower diesel engines. The list goes on…billionaire Dreamworks founder David Geffen is thought to have hosted Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom on his $400 million yacht, Rising Sun.

Therefore, you could certainly argue that this is an immense hypocrisy. According to our calculations, a flight from New York to Palermo, Sicily, generates around 4.24 metric tons of CO2, or the equivalent of 540,652 smart phones being charged at one time. And it’s not as if the plane is carrying hundreds of people, like any other would, these celebs arrive in private jets. All that CO2, for just a few people crossing the Atlantic – it’s not exactly eco-friendly?

But, see

While the facts remain, following the influx of private vehicles to Google’s Italian retreat, there is an argument to be made that both the coverage generated and the environmental awareness resulting from it, makes it all worth it. To centre such an important event around climate change in this day and age is a positive step in the right direction, given the amount of influential figures in attendance, all with staggering platforms to effect change all around the world.

To have them all in one place, working together to achieve a common goal that could really make a difference along the road to becoming carbon neutral before 2050 – perhaps the positives outweigh the negatives? And even if you disagree, at least the very fact they all arrived in such sheer extravagance has brought all the more attention to the event and the eco themes surrounding it!

See, the optics of having all these big shot celebrities, none of whom are climate scientists (and almost none, if any, are scientists of any disciple – remember when the Cult of Climastrology said we should only listen to climate scientists?), is more important than any danged old climahypocrisy. People who won’t see their lives get harmed in the least by Hotcoldwetdry policies have no problem pushing this on Other People.

Let’s hope they are offsetting their flights by sequestering the amount of CO2 produced, as this is one easy step we can all take to travel with a guilty-free conscience. From planting trees to contributing to clean energy research schemes, there’s lots we can all do to neutralise our flight emissions when we go on holiday.

Most of us will not be flying on private jets or hanging on mega-yachts, heading to fancy-pants conferences. The Cult always has an excuse.

In Which The Washington Post Realizes Democrat Candidates Ideas Don’t Work

Someone on the Washington Post Editorial Board has suddenly come to the realization that the ideas being offered by the current crop of Democratic Party contenders for the presidential nomination are devoid of reality, and could rather cause a problem. Which is interesting, because this is more of a panic response, since rarely has the paper in any facet nailed Democrats nor these policies before. They usually treat them with kid gloves or back them

Why run for president to promote ideas that can’t work?

“I DON’T understand why anybody goes to all the trouble of running for president of the United States just to talk about what we really can’t do and shouldn’t fight for,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said Tuesday night, in the most notable zinger of July’s Democratic presidential primary debate. “I get a little bit tired of Democrats afraid of big ideas,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), the other major candidate on the field’s left wing, piled on.

This got us thinking about some big ideas in U.S history. Like, say, amending the Constitution to outlaw liquor. Or sending half a million troops into Vietnam. Or passing a $1.5 trillion tax cut for the wealthy in a time of massive deficits.

Ambition is essential, in other words, but not sufficient. The country faces big challenges, such as economic inequality and climate change, that call for creative solutions. They also call for wisdom, honesty and even a bit of modesty about government’s limitations. Having embraced President Barack Obama’s “no drama” approach to governing, often defined by the philosophy “don’t do stupid s—,” it would be odd if Democrats suddenly embraced ideological grandiosity as a prerequisite for service in the Oval Office.

As a sidebar, the only reason Obama had the “no drama” approach is because the media refused to do their job in reporting on it. Just Operation Fast and Furious alone should have be a, to use Joe Biden’s words, “big f’ing deal.” Oh, and that the majority of the country didn’t want Obamacare, and were quite vocal about it

That means, first, that proposals should meet a baseline degree of factual plausibility — a bar that, for example, the Medicare-for-all plan that Mr. Sanders and Ms. Warren favor does not clear. Ms. Warren’s Tuesday night zinger was aimed at former congressman John Delaney (Md.), who had pointed out correctly that the numbers behind the proposal simply do not compute: The senators cannot deliver a system that provides far more benefits than other single-payer systems they claim as their model while preserving the level of care and access that insured Americans currently enjoy. They should make the case for a government monopoly on health care if they want, but they should be honest about the trade-offs.

Candidates who promise big ideas should also be pressed on how they will realize them. Mr. Sanders says he will lead a revolution. Ms. Warren will take on the “giant corporations that have taken our government and that are holding it by the throat.” Then, the theory goes, they can bring about radical change.

OK, what will the WP do to press them going forward? Bueller? Bueller?

But the United States is a vast, pluralistic country, and Congress will continue to reflect its ideological range. Big donors and billionaires may exercise too much influence, but Democratic primary voters should be wary of candidates who use that fact to explain away all opposition to their ideas. Even if you undid Citizens United and enacted campaign finance reform, sustainable policy in America would emerge only by means of principled compromise.

The next president should have a vision of progress for the nation that is expansive and inspiring. It also should be grounded in mathematical and political reality.

Which eliminates most Democratic Party ideas. On ‘climate change’, income inequality, housing, reparations, healthcare, immigration, doing away with student loans debt, and so much more, they aren’t grounded in either math nor politics. So, will the WP hold them accountable, and start telling their readers that the Dems are all full of mule fritters, beyond the normal political grandstanding and promises? Because, meanwhile, the WP gave unhinged Dem Rep Pramila Jayapal (who’s a defender of anti-Semites) a platform to yammer and obsfuscate the reality of single payer system Medicare for All.

Good News: White Robots Are Raaaaacist

You just knew this SJW hot take was coming at some point, right?

Have you ever noticed the popularity of white robots?

You see them in films like Will Smith’s “I, Robot” and Eve from “Wall-E.” Real-life examples include Honda’s Asimo, UBTECH’s Walker, Boston Dynamics’ Atlas, and even NASA’s Valkyrie robot. All made of shiny white material. And some real-life humanoid robots are modeled after white celebrities, such as Audrey Hepburn and Scarlett Johansson.

Or, it could be that they are actually easier to see on screen, and black robots tend to be the bad guys, which has nothing to do with skin color, just rooted in an old notion that bad guys wear black. Oh, and Wall-E wasn’t white. There were also plenty of other colored robots, such as the Transformers. The Cylons were silver. C3PO was golden. Robby the Robot was gray. The robots in the movie Robots were various colors. The 100 greatest robots in movies has plenty who aren’t. And for those which are played by humans, well, white people make up the majority of the population. Of course movies aim for them.

The reason for these shades of technological white may be racism, according to new research.

“Robots And Racism,” a study conducted by the Human Interface Technology Laboratory in New Zealand (HIT Lab NZ) and published by the country’s University of Canterbury, suggests people perceive physically human-like robots to have a race and therefore apply racial stereotypes to white and black robots.

These colors have been found to trigger social cues that determine how humans react to and behave toward other people and also, apparently, robots.

“The bias against black robots is a result of bias against African-Americans,” lead researcher Christoph Bartneck explained to The Next Web. He told CNN, “It is amazing to see how people who had no prior interaction with robots show racial bias towards them.”

So, wait, is Bartneck saying that when blacks have a negative reaction to white robots, meaning they’re racists? Huh.

Everything is just stupid today. People are just making things up to create Controversy and make people into Victims.

I’m mad as hell, and I’m not gonna take it anymore. I’m sick of being politely disheartened by our #fakepresident. Yes, it’s been embarrassing to have a buffoon represent the US at international summits. Sure, Trump’s professed conservatism in the face of expanded spending sends my hypocrisy meter through the proverbial roof. But it’s his horrific, overt racism that is making me stand up and say loudly, “#WeAreBaltimore!” And, in doing so, I’m declaring social justice as a sister to economic justice. We need the Green New Deal because it rights historical wrongs committed against indigenous communities and other marginalized groups as a core tenet to curb climate change.

This president is part of a larger Koch Brothers’ inspired plan to reinforce hegemonic national policies of division, alienation, and oppression, and climate action in the form of a Green New Deal could shatter years of this insidious behind-the-scenes propaganda. It’s become clear that racism, sexism, and xenophobia, which mark Trump’s worldview and legacy, are unalterably connected to his puppeteers’ fear of climate change. In a Trump-centric future, it will be the most powerful who will survive, profit, and thrive — because of a worst-case climate scenario, not in spite of it.

So, pretty much, the GND is a farce, masquerading as something to do with ‘climate change’ when it’s really all about SJW garbage.

Let’s not allow Trump’s racist attacks to galvanize white blue-collar voters, as so many claim. Instead of 4 more years of “s–hole” leadership, we need a US president who will protect the rights and lives of all people in the US.

And the starting point is a Green New Deal that will create new federal policies to prioritize low-income areas and communities of color.

Would this be the GND that the House refuses to vote on, and almost ever single Democratic Senator voted “present” on?  The more we learn about the GND the more we find out its true intentions. The more the supporters expose their real beliefs and real agenda.

We Can Solve ‘Climate Change’ By Putting Government Fully In Control Of All Water Or Something

If we want to solve climate change, water governance is our blueprint

The phrase “fail to prepare or prepare to fail” comes to mind as we enter an era in which governments and communities must band together to mitigate climate change. Part of what makes our next steps so uncertain is knowing we must work together in ways that we have – so far – failed to do. We either stall, or offer up “too little, too late” strategies.

These strategies include cap-and-trade economic incentive programmes, like the Kyoto Protocol and other international treaties. Insightful leaders have drawn attention to the issue, but lukewarm political will means that they are only able to defer greenhouse gas emissions-reduction targets in the future. A global crisis demands global commitment. How can we work together to face a universal threat? What of the complex challenges that demand unified monitoring and responses?

Who says we want to work together?

One principal impediment is the lack of coherent technical infrastructure.

Currently, our arsenal for facilitating collective action is understocked. Our policies are unable to invoke tide-turning change because they lack a cohesive infrastructure. In the absence of satisfactory tools to make them happen, our policies and pledges become feelgood initiatives rather than reaching full effectiveness. Our clumsy half-attempts continue to bear questionable legacies in places like the city of Flint, Michigan, where residents have been poisoned by decaying infrastructure and siloed water management.1 Or in Sudan, where local agriculture policy is undermined by too-often changing management.

Interestingly, those things a) have nothing to do with ‘climate change’, and b) highlight the incompetence of government.

So what is the first step on our path?

It is the substance that underpins our industry, health and survival. It remains a central source of conflict around the world, yet it also creates partnerships. Our first step is water.

Water challenges us with issues of scarcity, quality and distribution. It may seem to be a local issue, but combined with local tensions and a globalized economy, water governance is set to become one of our greatest tests of diplomatic finesse and technological synergy. If we can properly align local and global water governance and management, we can prepare the tools, the organizational blueprint and the political momentum needed to solve climate change.

For all the gobbledegook in this article, the over-arching theme is to let government heavily control all water at all levels. In fairness, government is heavily involved now, but it is more as a supplier, rather than a controller. So far, Obamacare is not doing particularly well during the debates, with the majority of the Love Democrat Island coming out against it, saying it was awful and did not work. But, then their is Joe Big F’ing Deal Biden. Remember his plan?

His plan allows illegal aliens to purchase insurance through the exchanges. When does Joe Wilson get an apology? Regardless, you had Excitable Joe Scarborough attacking his now fellow Dems for going after Obama, same with Joy Reid. And Sheriff Joe checked the website number and found a way to ramp up his O-care protection

Joe Biden Calls for Jail Time for Insurance Execs ‘Who Totally Oppose My Plan’

Former Vice President Joe Biden came out as a champion of Obamacare during the second Democratic presidential debate. Yet he went even further, calling for insurance executives “who totally oppose my plan” to be put in jail.

“I have the only plan that limits the ability of insurance companies to charge unreasonable prices, flat out, number one. Number two, we should put some of these insurance executives who totally oppose my plan in jail, for the 9 billion opioids they sell out there,” Biden declared.

While the former vice president may have meant to only target insurance executives ostensibly responsible for the opioid crisis, he actually called for the jailing of execs who “totally disagree” with his plan.

In an era of increasing political polarization, where groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center demonize and ostracize people for disagreeing with their political stances, Biden’s call for the imprisonment of people who disagree with him is not just un-American, it’s dangerous.

Was this just Joe being Joe and misspeaking, or does he mean it? For today’s Democrats, I’d lean toward him meaning it. Democrats seem very casual in their beliefs in ruining people’s lives for opposing the Democrats plans/policies. And even go so far as to criminalize that Wrongthink. You may or may not like what insurance companies do, but, what they are doing is lawful.

He’s also now selling stickers that say “Obamacare: It’s A BFD”. Ocare still polls negatively. And, while we’re on the subject

The world’s rich and famous have flocked to a posh Italian resort to talk about saving Mother Earth — but they sure are punishing her in the process.

The billionaire creators of Google have invited a who’s who of A-list names— including former President Barack Obama, Prince Harry, Leonardo DiCaprio and Katy Perry — to the Sicilian seaside for a mega-party they’ve dubbed Google Camp.

The three-day event will focus on fighting climate change — though it’s unknown how much time the attendees will spend discussing their own effect on the environment, such as the scores of private jets they arrived in and the mega yachts many have been staying on. (snip)

Many of the guests, including Obama and DiCaprio — who has his own climate change foundation — have described global warming as the biggest threat to future generations.

But according to Italian press reports, the attendees were expected to show up in 114 private jets, and 40 had arrived by Sunday.

The Post crunched the numbers and found that 114 flights from Los Angeles to Palermo, Italy, where Camp guests landed, would spew an estimated 100,000 kilograms of CO2 into the air. (snip)

Stars there also include Harry Styles, Orlando Bloom, Diane von Furstenberg and Barry Diller, who arrived on their enormous $200 million yacht Eos, which has both sails and two 2,300-horsepower diesel engines.

Billionaire Dreamworks founder David Geffen, meanwhile, gave Perry and Bloom a ride on his $400 million yacht, Rising Sun.

Also on hand for the environmental gabfest was the megayacht Andromeda, a 351-foot behemoth owned by a New Zealand billionaire and which features its own helipad.

Many of the attendees were seen in photos tooling around the island in high-speed sports vehicles, including Perry, who has made videos for UNICEF about climate change and was seen in a Maserati SUV that gets about 15 mpg city.

These people have no problem (or shame) demanding that Government regulate how you live your life, but, they won’t modify their own big carbon footprint lives. They won’t even pretend.

House Democrats Who Took The Trump Bait Warn Not To Take The Trump Bait

Democrats warn of Trump trap

House Democrats up in arms over President Trump’s attacks on minority lawmakers are sounding a warning to their own party heading into the 2020 elections: Don’t take the bait.

While Democrats have rushed to the defense of Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the prominent Congressional Black Caucus member Trump has attacked this week, they also sense the president is setting a political trap.

Democrats won the House in 2018 campaigning on health care, income inequality and other legislative priorities, and there is concern that Trump’s rhetoric is designed simply to distract voters from those policy debates.

“I hope we don’t take the bait,” said Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.), the former head of the Black Caucus. “The president always plays the race card when he’s having a bad news cycle. It’s easier to call people names when you don’t have anything else to point to.”

Richmond himself took the bait by labeling it raaaaacist. And Democrats just can’t help themselves. They won’t stop taking the bait. They’ve been warned that Trump is trolling them. Especially with tweets, that are meant to get a rise out of them. Trump may say that “There’s no strategy. I have no strategy. There’s zero strategy”, but, there’s strategy. It’s all part of the master plan, and it keeps working.

“We’ve got so much work to do in Congress. … If we get sucked into this rabbit hole, spending our time reacting to every racist comment, every racist deed that this president has done,” said Rep. Brenda Lawrence (D-Mich.), trailing off in exasperation.

“I really want us to stay focused. 2020 is coming.”

She took the bait. And they’ll continue taking the bait.
