Excitable Jay Inslee Says ‘Climate Change’ Is A Winning Issue Or Something

Jay Inslee, currently polling at 0.0% (Real Clear Politics doesn’t even mention him, and CNN said his campaign is pretty much over), has made his campaign all about anthropogenic climate change. And, despite that 0.0%, he says it’s a winning issue in a NY Times op-ed

I’ve heard it my whole career, from pundits, special interests and even political consultants: Just shut up about climate change if you want to be elected. They set up a false dichotomy between the economy and the environment, saying you can’t fight for good jobs and for clean air.

That was bad advice then, and it’s even worse advice now. There is a change happening: Americans really feel climate change in their daily lives — and they are demanding leadership from their politicians like never before.

In my campaign, I’ve seen how climate change — and the coal, oil and gas industries fueling it — have become personal problems for many families.

As he takes lots of fossil fueled travel around the country to push an issue that he really couldn’t get passed multiple times in referendums in the state of Washington, for which he is governor.

The science is clear: We must take major action to reduce carbon pollution in the next decade, or our communities and our children’s lives will suffer dramatic and irreparable harm. The next president will choose whether America leads the world in building a clean energy economy, or we leave our communities facing turmoil and destruction. Climate change cost the United States economy at least $240 billion per year during the past decade, and that figure is projected to rise to $360 billion per year in the coming 10 years. We cannot afford the costs of inaction.

They sure felt like inaction was perfectly fine in his state, eh?

So it is time for Democrats to ignore the standard inside-the-Beltway thinking that talking about the environment risks electoral defeat. The politics of climate change have changed. And the clearest proof point comes from an unlikely source: President Donald Trump himself.

If you’re guessing this is also an anti-Trump rant, you’d be correct.

The days of Democratic fear should end now: We’re not going to win on climate by running the same duck-and-cover campaigns of the past, nor by offering “middle-ground” approaches that fail to confront this challenge. More than ever, Americans want bold solutions to the climate crisis. Democrats can beat Donald Trump if we elect a nominee who will challenge him on this issue.

My candidacy is unique: No other presidential candidate has said that defeating climate change must be our nation’s top priority. My plan will launch a national mobilization to move America to 100 percent clean energy, create eight million jobs, end our addiction to fossil fuels, ensure a just economic transition for fossil fuel workers, assist the communities who are being hit worst by this crisis, and commit to a more ambitious Paris climate agreement.

Zero point zero percent. A lot of people may say they care, may say they are concerned, but, that’s strictly theory. In practice, most do not care, and, again, most aren’t willing to spend more than $10 a month on Hotcoldwetdry.

We will defeat Donald Trump by attacking his failures on climate change, not by running from the issue.

Zero point zero.

Baltimore Sun: Trump’s Comments On Rats And Filth Are Mean. Also Baltimore Sun: City Is Full Of Rats And Filth

By now you’ve surely heard about Trump taking a shot at Rep Elijah Cummings, noting that his portion of district in Baltimore is pretty bad. Rather than addressing the actual substance of the tweet (which, let’s be honest, is meant to drive Liberals insane), the Usual Characters went with claiming raaaaacism. Which is interesting, since the first thing they think of is skin color. Doesn’t that make them…..racists? Anyhow, how’d the Baltimore Sun cover it? (via Twitchy)

They’ve also noted that Trump was right about Baltimore’s problems back in 2016, and mapped Baltimore’s rat hot spots last August. But, see, now

Better to have a few rats than to be one

In case anyone missed it, the president of the United States had some choice words to describe Maryland’s 7th congressional district on Saturday morning. Here are the key phrases: “no human being would want to live there,” it is a “very dangerous & filthy place,” “Worst in the USA” and, our personal favorite: It is a “rat and rodent infested mess.” He wasn’t really speaking of the 7th as a whole. He failed to mention Ellicott City, for example, or Baldwin or Monkton or Prettyboy, all of which are contained in the sprawling yet oddly-shaped district that runs from western Howard County to southern Harford County. No, Donald Trump’s wrath was directed at Baltimore and specifically at Rep. Elijah Cummings, the 68-year-old son of a former South Carolina sharecropper who has represented the district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1996.

In pointing to the 7th, the president wasn’t hoping his supporters would recognize landmarks like Johns Hopkins Hospital, perhaps the nation’s leading medical center. He wasn’t conjuring images of the U.S. Social Security Administration, where they write the checks that so many retired and disabled Americans depend upon. It wasn’t about the beauty of the Inner Harbor or the proud history of Fort McHenry. And it surely wasn’t about the economic standing of a district where the median income is actually above the national average. No, he was returning to an old standby of attacking an African American lawmaker from a majority black district on the most emotional and bigoted of arguments. It was only surprising that there wasn’t room for a few classic phrases like “you people” or “welfare queens” or “crime-ridden ghettos” or a suggestion that the congressman “go back” to where he came from.

So, see, some equivocation and obfuscation. Fort McHenry isn’t in the 7th. John Hopkins is just barely outside of it. SSA? Depends on which one they’re talking about. But there is that assault on a Muslim city police department employee, which looks to have occurred within the 7th, and made the same editorial board upset.

Oh, and hey, boosters are going to launch a We Are Baltimore website after Trump’s attack! They might want to forget some information

Calgary Warmists Work Through Their Eco-Grief Or Something

‘We Need This’: Calgarians Work Through Eco-Grief Together

Last summer, like so many others around the world, Calgarian Laura Keeth-Rowledge became preoccupied by coverage of a mother whale pushing her dead baby through the ocean for 17 days.

“I was sobbing, in tears,” she said. “I couldn’t function.” For her, it was a devastating reminder of the existential threat facing the planet, its creatures and human society.

Between last October’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report calling for urgent action to avoid the unthinkable, and the subsequent Environment and Climate Change Canada study finding the country is warming twice as fast as the rest of the world, many Calgarians are questioning what climate action can and should look like—and how to work through it all.

Grief can be a starting point.

In 2017, Keeth-Rowledge started hosting a bi-monthly Eco-Grief Support Circle in her home—a small, intimate gathering. “As climate realities become more dire, people need to know how to ground, and how to grieve,” Keeth-Rowledge said.

Of course, one the problems here is that these nuts are conflating the environment with a tiny increase in global temperatures, something that has happened many times during just the Holocene alone. This is what’s called negative self talk, in which you make yourself nuts with negativity that really doesn’t exist. And the nuts spread it out amongst themselves, making each other worse.

Can’t Move On: Democrats Want Grand Jury Material For Mueller Report

Democrats have had their little narrative on Russia Russia Russia since even before Trump was elected, but ramped it up to a Category 5 hurricane the minute he was elected, as you all know. The constant screeching. Elected Nutters like Swalwell and Nadler proclaiming that they have the evidence, but never showing it. All sorts of hearings, for which nothing came from them. Getting this whole idiotic Mueller investigation, which came to nothing. Demanding, DEMANDING, that Mueller himself testify. All for nothing. So, now

House panel seeks grand jury material underlying Mueller report

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) announced Friday that his committee is filing an application in court to obtain the grand jury material underlying former special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian interference and possible obstruction of justice by President Trump.

Nadler said that the panel is seeking the material in order to decide whether to recommend articles of impeachment against Trump — perhaps the Democratic chairman’s most significant and public acknowledgement that his committee is considering impeachment as a possibility.

“Because Department of Justice policies will not allow prosecution of the sitting president, the United States House of Representatives is the only institution of the federal government that can now vote President Trump accountable for these actions,” Nadler said at a press conference Friday afternoon, quoting from the application his committee was about to file in court.

Strange, because the majority of Democrats voted against impeachment the other week.

“To do so, the House must have access to all the relevant facts and consider whether to exercise its full Article I powers, including a constitutional duty power of the utmost gravity — recommendation of articles of impeachment. That duty calls in the first instance to the House Committee on the Judiciary,” he continued.

The case was filed in the Washington, D.C., District Court Friday afternoon. The filing argues that the committee needs the grand jury material in order to determine whether to recommend impeachment articles, and it equates the committee’s position to the one Congress was in during the Nixon era when a court disclosed grand jury information from the Watergate investigation.

The Justice Department has allowed Nadler and other Democrats to view a less-redacted version of Mueller’s report that still restricts grand jury material. That information is subject to secrecy under Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 6(e), unless a court rules otherwise. (snip)

Roughly 10 percent of Mueller’s public report is redacted to conceal details related to ongoing investigations, classified information, details that could infringe on the privacy of third parties and grand jury material. According to The New York Times, about one-fifth of the redacted portions restrict grand jury material.

Nadler is attempting say this is just like Nixon and Watergate, but, really, this is just Trump Derangement Syndrome, and easy to recognize for even the most partisan of judges. It’s a fishing expedition.

Legal experts have told The Hill that Democrats are unlikely to win a case for the grand jury material unless they launch a formal impeachment inquiry. Rule 6(e) generally provides that grand jury proceedings be kept secret, with a few exceptions allowing a judge to grant a court order to release them.

All these Democrats are doing is making it easier for Trump to win re-election in 2020.

Eco-Apartheid: The Climate Crisis (scam) Is Intersecting With Housing And We’re Doomed

Here’s one more thing that the Cult of Climastrology is attempting to hijack

Eco-Apartheid Is Real
The climate crisis is converging with a housing crisis. We need to tackle both with a Green New Deal for Housing.

The heat is on. A heat wave is breaking records across much of Western Europe. And this weekend sweltering heat baked half the United States. For some media outlets and climate advocates, the heat waves were a chance to remind people: This isn’t normal. This is what the climate emergency feels like, and this is how it kills. We also saw some media outlets publish recent maps that show which parts of cities are heat islands. Of course, those converge with low-income and racialized neighborhoods, while greenery that cools the air is found disproportionately in white and affluent areas.

To top it off, we learned on Monday that New York utility Con Ed intentionally cut off power to the majority-black Canarsie neighborhood to avoid risking broader blackouts. Amazingly, the utility wasn’t prepared for a major heat wave and sacrificed low-income black customers to ride out the crisis. Eco-apartheid, which I define as a regime of greening affluence for the few at the expense of the many, is the path of business as usual.

And yet there was something frustratingly superficial about all this coverage, even when it focused on inequality.

In the era of the Green New Deal, journalists and activists still struggle to convey just how profoundly the climate emergency, our political economy, and social inequalities are connected. As a result, they’re still missing how much egalitarian green investment—like a Green New Deal for Housing—could address social, economic, and environmental crises at the same time. And while this policy idea is specific to the US context, an intersectional analysis here could enrich global debates about what effective and equitable green investment could look like around the world.

Strange that what is supposedly a science issue always seems to dovetail in perfectly with every other Modern Socialist complaint, eh? See, if we could just pass a Green New Deal, and one for housing, we could fix all these problems with taxes, fees, and controlling citizen’s lives, limiting freedom and choice.

Also strange is that so many of these problems appear to happen in cities run by Democrats.

Think Progress Says We Only Have 14 Months Left To Save The Climate Or Something

There have been lots of bad Warmist predictions, such as Doom by 2000. NYC would be under water and be like Daytona Beach. That the Earth would be 2-4 degrees higher by than 1988 by 2018. And, so, since those and all the others were not working out , we then got doom in 2100. Then 2050. Then it was 20 years. Then 12. Then 18 months. And now

It’s fantastic that they use a photo with AOC and her Green New Deal. You know, the one she refuses to demand a vote on, freaked out when the Senate voted on it (along with not quite getting that a Senator co-sponsored it and submitted it in the Senate), and has said it’s more of a “blueprint”. Anyhow, why fourteen? What’s going through Excitable Joe Romm’s head?

Scientific reality makes clear that the only plausible way to preserve a livable climate — and hence modern civilization — starts with aggressive national and global cuts in carbon pollution by 2030.

But political reality makes clear that such cuts can’t happen instantly — and that global action requires leadership from the United States. After all, the U.S. is the richest country in the world and the biggest cumulative source of heat-trapping emissions over the past century.

With eight years of a pro-science president, Barack Obama, the nation made steady progress on reducing emissions and committing to future reductions, enabling a global climate deal in Paris in 2015. But with just two and a half years of an anti-science administration, national and global progress have both stalled under President Donald Trump, who has begun to abandon the Paris Accord and undermine action here and abroad.

That means November 3, 2020 — the U.S. presidential election — is the deadline for Americans who do not want to destroy the health and well-being of current generations, their children, and future generations. If Trump is reelected, the prospects for the necessary national and global cuts in carbon pollution by 2030 will be gone.

The First Street Journal notes that math is hard

I wondered: what would happen in fourteen months that would be the tipping point? According to Mr Romm, it’s the presidential election, and how President Trump must be defeated, to save the world.

Trouble is, fourteen months from July 26, 2019 is September 26, 2020, more than a month before the presidential election. Had he written fifteen months, that could have been literary license, given that the election is fifteen months and eight days away. But fourteen months? I’m supposed to give credence to the supposedly scientific arguments made by a guy who can’t even count?

Well, of course, since none of this stuff emanating from the Cult of Climastrology has anything to do with science, math, or any hard disciplines….. Joe is just pimping his normal doom and gloom. Make sure to read both articles in full.
