Democrats “Green” Plans Target Inequality Or Something

Remember, this is all about Science, about saving the Earth from having a fever. To attempt to stop a 1.5C increase in global temperatures. To stop the seas from rising. To stop the rain, dry, hot, and cold. To make sure kids do know what snow is. Right?

2020 Dems target inequality with green plans

2020 Democratic presidential contenders are giving new attention to the idea of “environmental injustice,” heartening green advocates who argue that polluting industries have gone unchecked.

A number of candidates have rolled out ambitious plans to tackle decades of pollution and harmful practices that have been concentrated in the nation’s poorest neighborhoods and communities of color.

“Our crisis of environmental injustice is the result of decades of discrimination and environmental racism compounding in communities that have been overlooked for too long,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote in a post unveiling her environmental justice plan in October.

“It is the result of multiple choices that put corporate profits before people, while our government looked the other way. It is unacceptable, and it must change.”

At issue are remedies for so-called frontline communities, the disproportionately poor and minority neighborhoods that have been a dumping ground for pollution and landfills or the site of factories and highways that spew harmful contamination into the air.

See, the problem here, as you can plainly see, is that the pollution mentioned in the last paragraph has little to do with anthropogenic climate change, excepting the methane released from landfills. Methane is not an actual pollutant. And then they yammer about justice and stuff. All this shows that the Cult of Climastrology has nothing to do with the actual climate, it’s all about their Progressive (nice Fascism) policy beliefs.

But, even as they talk about environmental justice on strictly environmental lines, the policies and solutions have little to do with helping the environmental and more about making these poor folks and “minorities”, often one and the same in Democratic Party run cities and states, because they like black people kept down just like they always have, be more dependent on Government and more controlled by Government.

The environmental justice plans have all been tucked into broader climate policy packages. Large green groups say that’s a good thing — many of the communities targeted by polluters are also the most likely to be affected by climate change.

They’ve also been living close to industries that spew climate change-accelerating pollution.

“It’s impossible these days to divorce environmental justice impacts from climate change because many of the same companies and industries that are causing climate change are pedaling environmental injustices,” said Charlie Jiang, a climate campaigner with Greenpeace USA, pointing to refineries and other polluting industries often located in such neighborhoods.

It’s not about science, it’s about politics. Nothing more, nothing less.

Even Nancy Pelosi is getting the idea that this stuff, along with the other policies being pushed, are dangerous for Democrats

Democratic House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) slammed the field of 2020 Democratic presidential candidates on Friday over their far-left policy ideas, warning that the country is not “San Francisco.”

“What works in San Francisco does not necessarily work in Michigan,” Pelosi told Bloomberg News. “As a left-wing San Francisco liberal I can say to these people: What are you thinking?”

Pelosi specifically raised the alarm over socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) proposed $93 trillion “Green New Deal,” which Ocasio-Cortez’s former Chief-of-Staff Saikat Chakrabarti admitted was about implementing socialism.

It’s a good thing the Republican president is like all the others and won’t fight back, right?

Totally Not Open Borders Advocates Ask California Governor To Stop Parolee Deportations

Once again, remember, the Open Borders advocates say they aren’t open borders, they just want to keep the good illegal aliens (and refugees and such), not the bad ones. What do they define as good and bad?

Groups ask California governor to deter parolee deportations

Immigrant rights groups called Friday for Gov. Gavin Newsom to end policies they say ease the transfer of prison inmates to federal authorities despite California’s efforts to provide a sanctuary to those who are in the country illegally.

The groups asked Newsom to stop prison officials from holding parolees until they can be picked up by federal immigration officials. And they criticized him for vetoing legislation that would have barred private security companies from coming onto prison grounds to pick up immigrants for deportation. (snip)

Cambodian refugee Borey Ai told about 100 supporters rallying at the state Capitol that he was paroled in 2016 only to be immediately detained by immigration agents for another 18 months, until Cambodia refused to accept him. The California Supreme Court last year took the rare step of blocking former Gov. Jerry Brown’s attempt to pardon Ai, who killed a woman when he was 14 years old.

He’s an angel

The violence in Cambodia had traumatized his parents, and both suffered from PTSD. Ai said his father was a gambling and alcohol addict and his mother was overburdened with six kids to raise. Searching for community, Ai started running with a gang in Stockton at age 10. He was a full-fledged gang member by age 12.

Two years later, Ai was trying to impress older friends, and joined them when they asked him to rob a store with them. During the robbery, Ai said he killed the owner of the store. He turned himself in, was tried as an adult, and at age 14, he was sentenced to 25 years to life for second-degree murder with a gun enhancement. Ultimately, Ai served 20 years before he was deemed suitable for parole in 2016.

Is this the kind of person we want to keep around? Original story

Ai said he was once a cellmate with Cambodian refugee Tith Ton, who at age 16 killed a rival gang member and has served 22 years in prison. He was recommended for parole in July, though Newsom has not yet decided whether to block his release.

“I’ve seen Tith transform his life,” Ai said. “He’s being punished again” if he is deported after serving his time.

No, party of the penalty is deportation. It’s rather in the rules for legal non-citizen residents and illegal aliens. Funny how the Open Borders advocates are now protecting murderers as if they’re part of the good ones.

Sad: Netherlands Won’t Meet It’s Climate (scam) Target

It’s rather funny how this keeps happening

The Netherlands will fail to hit climate change targets, agencies say

The Netherlands is failing in its efforts to meet a string of important climate change targets, according to two government reports published on Friday.

In particular, a court order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 25% in 2020 when compared with 1990 will not be met, the official reports said. Last year, CO2 emissions were only down 15% and the figure is unlikely to be more than 23% in 2020, the researchers said.

In addition, the national climate agreement to cut greenhouse gas emissions in 2030 by 49% when compared with 1990 will not be met either, according to calculations by the environmental planning agency PBL. At most, the reduction will be between 43% and 48% assuming there are no setbacks, the PBL said.

Rarely do you read about nations actually hitting their targets, especially in terms of the Paris Climate Agreement. And these aren’t even the pledges (non-binding) made for the Paris Climate Agreement

Almost all of the 25 Parties analysed have climate policies in place that reduce emissions, but, for about two thirds of these Parties, reductions fall short of those targeted in their NDCs. For some Parties, it is uncertain whether their NDCs will lead to a reduction in emissions relative to the business-as-usual scenario.

The same happened with the Kyoto Protocol, with the vast majority of signatory nations failing to achieve their goals. No one really wants to give up their modern lifestyle, nor do they want to pay for it. Back to original article

However, the government’s macro-economic policy unit CPB does see a significant shift in the way the measures are being paid for.

The government had initially said that consumers would pick up most of the bill, but later had a rethink. Industry will now face an extra €1bn in costs, taking their share of the total bill to €2.6bn. The cost to households will be €1.8bn, the CPB said.

So, industry will either move, close shop, or bill consumers.

Bummer: St. Greta Learns That Moving Around The Planet Is Not Easy As Climate Conference Moves To Spain

St. Greta has been traveling all over Canada and the U.S. (no media outlet ever reports on the exact particulars of how. Strange, right?), doing her climate cultist schtick. She even got kids to blow off school in Los Angeles and yammered on with her deep knowledge and degrees in scientific endeavors about wildfires getting worse on Friday. Now?

Greta Thunberg is stuck on the wrong continent after the year’s most important UN climate-change summit got moved from Chile to Spain

The most famous youth climate activist doesn’t fly.

Because of air travel’s large carbon footprint, Greta Thunberg relies on trains and boats for transportation instead. But that’s put the Swedish 16-year-old in a bit of a bind.

Thunberg traveled from the UK to New York City on the Malizia II, a sailboat that runs on solar power (and wind, of course), in order to speak at the United Nations Climate Action Summit. Her plan was to stay in the Americas until the UN COP25 climate summit in early December.

But on Friday, the event got moved to Madrid because the Chilean capital is the throes of riots and protests.

Now Thunberg is looking for a low-emissions way to travel back across the Atlantic Ocean before COP25 commences on December 2.

First Brazil pulled out of hosting COP25, then Chile, and now Spain will host it. What’s a climate cultist to do?

Poor St. Greta. First, she’ll have to figure out a carbon neutral way to travel from L.A. to the U.S. east coast. I suppose maybe Mexico or the U.S. on the Gulf Of Mexico, but, the winds of the season deem the U.S. northeast if she wants to find a sailing ship that is willing to cross the Atlantic.

Only a handful of zero-emissions vessels like the Malizia II exist, Casiraghi told The New York Times.

Because they are extremely expensive (and they aren’t really zero-emissions). She’s learning a valuable lesson that moving around internationally isn’t all that easy without fossil fuels. It’s not 1492.

Gun Grabbers Are Surprised That Trump Is No Longer Bothering With Gun Control Measures

This has all give the Washington Post a sad

Trump abandons proposing ideas to curb gun violence after saying he would following mass shootings

President Trump has abandoned the idea of releasing proposals to combat gun violence that his White House debated for months following mass shootings in August, according to White House officials and lawmakers, a reversal from the summer when the president insisted he would offer policies to curb firearm deaths.

Trump has been counseled by political advisers, including campaign manager Brad Parscale and acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, that gun legislation could splinter his political coalition, which he needs to stick together for his reelection bid, particularly amid an impeachment battle.

The president no longer asks about the issue, and aides from the Domestic Policy Council, once working on a plan with eight to 12 tenets, have moved on to other topics, according to aides who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the private deliberations.

First, it’s funny that the Post never seems to actually have sources who aren’t anonymous. It makes you wonder how many actually are real, and, for those who are, actually know what’s going on. Regardless, in this case, yeah, you can see Trump moving on from this

“President Trump quietly moved gun control to the side and let it be replaced by breaking news,” said Dan Eberhart, a major GOP donor who said Trump is better off not advancing proposals at this time. “I suspect that was the plan all along.”

Meh. It seems like Trump was responding to Big Happenings, kneejerk reactions, then moved on. But, maybe there’s another reason that he moved on

Trump could always reverse course and embrace changes to gun laws, particularly if there is another shooting, but the president and his top aides are intensely focused on the impeachment inquiry and moving to aggressively shore up Republican support in the face of new revelations about his dealings with Ukraine that are central to House Democrats’ efforts to remove him from office…. (snip)

House Democrats argue that they have already passed gun-control legislation and that it is up to Trump and the Republican-controlled Senate to act. (snip)

Trump grew disenchanted with red-flag laws after hearing from Reps. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and other conservatives that they could be used to take away guns from law-abiding citizens, according to White House officials.

So, we do see Trump becoming unenthused with the proposals, as he many explained the problems with them. And Democrats didn’t seem interested, because they had their own policies of gun grabbing. So, why bother with his own policies when they wouldn’t get a look in the House? And why bother when Democrats aren’t actually interested in giving Trump any sort of win?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said President Donald Trump’s new Nafta deal is the “easiest trade deal that we’ve ever done.”

“We’re on a path to yes, and I think every day brings us closer to agreement,” Pelosi told a roundtable with Bloomberg reporters and editors on Friday. “I’d like to have it done as soon as it’s ready. I wouldn’t rule it out next year. Hopefully we can do it sooner, but I said when it’s ready we’ll do it.”

The deal has been sitting around for a year, waiting for the House to do something. As Ed Morrissey notes

Besides, the timing of the USMCA approval matters greatly to Democrats in the election next year. When it does pass, it will be a major policy win for Trump, who can claim that he was right all along about NAFTA and the need for a more America First-centered trade agreement in North America. The time to hand Trump that win would be as early as possible before the next election, so as to mute its impact on his re-election prospects. Does anyone believe that Pelosi calculated this so as to hand Trump a victory in the middle of the Democratic primaries? Come on, man.

There won’t be a vote at all, because Democrats do not want to give Trump a win, even as our trading partners wait and wait and wait. They’re obsessed with impeachment, not doing their real job.

Liz Warren Trots Out Her Medicare For All Plan

It’s a hoot

Warren’s $52T ‘Medicare-for-all’ plan revealed: Campaign still claims no middle-class tax hikes needed

Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren’s long-awaited “Medicare-for-all” funding plan projects the government-run health care system would cost a staggering sum of “just under $52 trillion” over the next decade, with the campaign proposing a host of new tax increases to pay for it while still claiming the middle class would not face any additional burden.

“We don’t need to raise taxes on the middle class by one penny to finance Medicare for All,” Sen. Warren, D-Mass., said in her plan — a copy of which was obtained by Fox News in advance of its release Friday.

The campaign’s detailed Medicare-for-all proposal, however, insists that the costs can be covered by a combination of existing federal and state spending on Medicare and other health care — as well as myriad taxes on employers, financial transactions, the ultra-wealthy and large corporations and some savings elsewhere. Those measures are meant to pay for a projected $20.5 trillion in new federal spending. Notably, they include what is essentially a payroll tax increase on employers, something economists generally say can hit workers in the form of reduced wages. (snip)

So how would she pay for it?

Among other proposals, Warren calls for bringing in nearly $9 trillion in new Medicare taxes on employers over the next 10 years, arguing this would essentially replace what they’re already paying for employee health insurance. Further, Warren’s campaign says if they are at risk of falling short of the revenue target, they could impose a “Supplemental Employer Medicare Contribution” for big companies with “extremely high executive compensation and stock buyback rates.”

Companies wouldn’t be the ones paying

Whether some of those costs, however, still could be passed on to middle-class employees – as economists argue payroll tax costs often are – remains to be seen. As the Tax Policy Center has noted, it is assumed the “employee bears the burden of both the employer and employee portions of payroll taxes.”

Does anyone think Trump won’t bash this and expose it non-stop, especially if she ends up being the Democrat candidate?
