The enviro-weenings are a going to be torn
TOKYO – The world needs to invest $45 trillion in energy in coming decades, build some 1,400 nuclear power plants and vastly expand wind power in order to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, according to an energy study released Friday.
The report by the Paris-based International Energy Agency envisions a “energy revolution” that would greatly reduce the world’s dependence on fossil fuels while maintaining steady economic growth.
So, the enviro-weenies want to save the Earth from the dire threats of anthropogenic global warming, but, they hate nuclear power, and often demonstrate and block wind farms because they are a danger to birds stupid enough to fly into them.
I certainly agree with building new nuclear power plants and wind farms. Setting aside the man made global warming idiocy, they are much better for the environment then oil and coal based plants, not to mention providing more power for the buck, and the overall reduction in power costs. But, it won’t happen anytime soon. Too many people will block it.
“Meeting this target of 50 percent cut in emissions represents a formidable challenge, and we would require immediate policy action and technological transition on an unprecedented scale,” IEA Executive Director Nobuo Tanaka said.
A U.N.-network of scientists concluded last year that emissions have to be cut by at least half by 2050 to avoid an increase in world temperatures of between 3.6 and 4.2 degrees above pre-18th century levels.
In case they missed it, there was something called the Little Ice Age, where the temps supposedly dropped around 4 degrees below average. So, if we are talking about 3.6-4.2 above pre 18th Century levels, wouldn’t that be average? I wouldn’t mind seeing a cut in the smog emissions from vehicles, though. Better for the air quality.
Perhaps the Climahysterics could start the savings by walking the walk? Na, never happen.
