Hartford Courtant: Doing Something About ‘Climate Change’ Is Like Those Time Wasters In Grade School

Because eventually the reality of economics intrudes

Rachel Marsden: Top climate change salesmen meet budget reality

Remember back in grade school when the kids who were so far ahead of everyone else in their classwork were allowed to indulge in little time-wasters, like blowing blobs of watery paint across paper through a straw until they passed out? That’s exactly what the West has been doing for the past few decades with their climate- change side quests. But now that they’re flunking economics, the fun is over.

I once did so many side quests when playing the Elder Scrolls Of Morrowind that I defeated the main bad guy at the end with no fuss. I was surprised I won so easily. I waste a lot of time at work doing nothing because I’m done with follow ups and waiting for a customer. But, when I have a customer I have no time for Twitter and blogs and reading my book

The floodgates to common sense have busted open, testing political natural selection. Take Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who when faced with a choice between his own political survival or persisting with the same “net zero” policies as the “UN-backed Net-Zero Banking Alliance” that he founded and championed in pre-political life — before all banks ditched it, as the Canadian media reported last year. Guess which path he now favors as he finally rushes to build pipelines so Canada can realize its potential as an energy superpower? Still, he’s stuck explaining to at least one of the true believers, now citing environmental impact in ditching Carney’s Liberal Party, that “things change.”

But not nearly fast enough, apparently. Why do nations need to be in dire straits and faced with the threat of recession before the establishment stops getting high on its own emissions?

Another example is former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who’s now saying that it would be lunacy for the governing Labour Party, which he once headed, to stay on the path to legally binding “net zero” — that is, the notion that a country can somehow emit zero carbon while also not reverting back to the Stone Age. Blair now says that such policies are “doomed to fail,” according to the BBC.

The Mackerel of Reality eventually smacks the leaders of 1st world nations in the face, that they no longer have the luxury of playing with in the cult pool. That they have to get back to their homework.

Mainly because citizens’ enthusiasm for the government blowing their money has limits. And governments can’t afford to bail everyone out to keep these delusions on life support. Particularly when other countries are ignoring it entirely in favor of economic survival.

And the citizens get tired of more and more authoritarian government telling them what to do. It’s worth reading the whole thing, which ends with

Turns out the only things that were reliably hitting net zero were the national treasuries of Western nations and the public’s patience. Some of its chief salesmen are finally exiting the business. Too bad for those who bought their snake oil wholesale.

Even if we agreed that the current warm period is caused 51%+ by the actions of Mankind, why the need to have the government taking more and more of our money, life choices, and freedom? It’s almost like this isn’t about climate.

Boston Globe: Dems Support Unhinged Platner Over Collins Because Of Abortion Rights

This is a pretty wild opinion piece by Joan Vennochi, which also notes Maine gov Maura Healey’s support

For women, Platner vs. Collins is a tough choice because of abortion rights

What’s more important: How a man talks about and treats women, including his wife, or whether he supports abortion rights?

With Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, support for abortion is trumping what Democrats, especially women, would consider abhorrent behavior from a Republican.

Consider Governor Maura Healey’s explanation for why she plans to back Platner in the general election if he wins the Maine Senate primary. During a Tuesday appearance on GBH radio, Healey said, “I’m disgusted by what he posted and I’m disgusted by his other behaviors and antics. But, here’s the thing, come November, there’s going to be a clear choice: There’s going to be Susan Collins, on the one hand, who has stood with Trump.”

In follow-up comments to the Boston Herald, Healey was more specific, saying, “We need to do everything we can to defeat Susan Collins, who is the reason that we have the Dobbs decision, the reason that Roe v. Wade was overturned.”

So, because Orange Man Bad and abortion (which is purely legal in Maine, as a state right per the SCOTUS ruling) she will support Platner? As will so many Democrat women? There’s no reason to reiterate how horrible Platner is, right? Or that the media would be in Category 5 apoplexy if Graham was a Republican, right? Or that the GOP would have dropped all support for him from the minute the Nazi tattoo came to light, right?

To that end, Democrats, including powerful women like Senator Elizabeth Warren, have backed Platner despite a series of controversies, including a tattoo inspired by Nazi symbolism that he has since covered up and old Reddit posts in which he downplayed rape in the military and used crude language to suggest that rape victims should take some responsibility for what happened, especially if they drink too much. He has since apologized for those comments. (snip)

Warren, who famously called out Michael Bloomberg on the 2020 presidential debate stage for past sexist comments, is still backing Platner. And Healey, who initially endorsed Governor Janet Mills in the primary, is now saying she will be with Platner in the general election.

It’s all about the power and the Democrats 1st Commandment, abortion on demand.

How can Democrats like Warren challenge questionable tattoos from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and sexism from Republicans in general when they accept it in one of their own? Once you give up the high ground, you never get it back.

Hegseth’s tattoos are Christian in nature: Platner’s is a Nazi symbol.

(Breitbart) Several women who previously dated Graham Platner have described “unsettling” and controversial behavior by the Democrat looking to unseat Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME).

The New York Times profiled several women who shared a romantic past with Platner, further piling onto the controversies that have plagued the candidate since discussions about his Nazi tattoo. In one interview, conservative commentator Lyndsey Fifield, who dated Platner between 2013 and 2015, said that he would often be rough with her while discussing violence, clarifying that he never physically assaulted her.

“He said this a lot: If anybody ever broke in here, I would rape them,” Fifield told the outlet. (snip)

Regarding his Nazi tattoo, Fifield also expressed doubt as to Platner’s claims of being ignorant of its meaning, saying that he would sometimes describe it as “my Totenkopf.” Jewish Insider previously reported that a former acquaintance described him using that term.

Good on the Times for actually covering this, and not burying the article. Democrats won’t care. They don’t care about any of it. How bad would Platner have to be for them to drop support? If he was shown to be a member of, say, Stormfront or some Nazi organization, would that drop their support? Or, is winning the election and abortion more important?

Oh Well: Trump Admin Dismantling Ocean Climate (scam) Measuring System

Hey, maybe the warmists could get all their rich supporters to pitch in to pay for it?

Trump administration dismantles critical ocean-floor observation network

The Trump administration is dismantling a $370 million ocean-floor observatory network installed a decade ago to collect critical climate data on coastal environments, marine ecosystems, and powerful global ocean currents.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) announced it will begin removing more than 900 deep-sea instruments this June. The decommissioning will pull monitoring hardware from the waters of Oregon, Washington State, Alaska, North Carolina, and a critical region between Greenland and Iceland known as the Irminger Sea.

The Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI) began full operations in 2016. The monitoring system was engineered to provide continuous, real-time climate data to global researchers for 25 years.

Jim Edson, a marine meteorologist who led the initiative, described the network as “the world’s most advanced continuously operating ocean observing systems.”

And, yet, we get BS readings and reports that the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation is speeding up and slowing down. It’s all a big scam, and the Trump admin should look into how much of the money went towards the network and monitoring and how much went into people’s pockets as graft.

The closure of this climate data network follows policy laid out by conservative strategist the Heritage Foundation. The shutdown was recommended in their Project 2025 “Mandate for Leadership” document – a 900-page document designed specifically to act as a blueprint for the Trump presidency.

In 2024, Project 2025’s authors explicitly targeted the network, claiming the OOI was “the source of much of NOAA’s climate alarmism” and advising that “the preponderance of its climate-change research should be disbanded.”

They aren’t wrong, you know.

Liberal Mayors Whine About Senate Bill Authorizing Money For Operations In “Non-Cooperating” Cities

Here’s an idea: turn over the criminals caught by your law enforcement officers who are illegal aliens to ICE, rather than trying to protect them, and then you won’t have to deal with big operations which scoop up the “non-criminal” illegals (who are in the US illegally and may have stolen the identities of Americans)

Nation’s Mayors Urge U.S. Senators to Remove Dangerous New Immigration Enforcement Provision from Reconciliation Bill

Today, the bipartisan U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) released a letter to U.S. senators urging them to remove a newly added immigration enforcement provision from the reconciliation bill currently under consideration in the Senate. The provision would provide $350 million to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for enforcement actions in jurisdictions deemed “non-cooperating” and expand detention and deportation authorities affecting a broad range of immigrants.

In the letter, USCM CEO and Executive Director Tom Cochran warns that the provision could undermine public safety by damaging trust between immigrant communities and law enforcement, making residents less likely to report crimes, cooperate with investigations or seek assistance when needed. Cochran also raises concerns that the measure could trigger disruptive enforcement actions in cities across the country and place additional strain on local communities.

“Public safety is the top priority for mayors,” Cochran writes. “This provision will weaken public safety and weaken our cities, our states and our nation. We urge you to remove it from the reconciliation bill as quickly as it was inserted.”

It would somehow be less safe for ICE to come in and scoop up murderers, rapists, child predators, drug dealers, gang members, arsonists, etc? GTFO. The letter states

Immigrants targeted could include any person ever charged with unauthorized entry or reentry (regardless of whether the charges were dismissed or their current status) and any person under an ICE detainer after an arrest for any offense other than a minor traffic charge. The provision would prohibit ICE from using any of the funds to release any of these immigrants, except as required by law, thus subjecting them to prolonged detention.

Oh, so people who broke US federal law, for which the punishment is potential detainment, a small fine, and deportation? They can avoid that by self-deporting. The government will even pay for them to leave.

Now look at the letter from the link. Pretty much every single one of those mayors on the list are Democrats. There are a scant handful of Republicans, like Daniel Rickenmann of Columbia, SC and possibly D.C. Reeves of Pensacola, Florida. I wonder if they knew this letter was coming out and support it? Any there are quite a few more mayors in this nation.

Meanwhile

Gov. Polis vetoes bill to allow civil suits against immigration authorities

Gov. Jared Polis vetoed a measure Wednesday that would have allowed Coloradans to sue federal immigration officials who violate their constitutional rights, one of the first bills Democrats introduced in the 2026 legislative session.

Senate Bill 26-5 would have created a state-level cause of action against federal officials for alleged constitutional violations during immigration raids, arrests, traffic stops and warrantless entries. It came in response to increased operations by the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to carry out President Donald Trump’s mass deportation scheme against immigrants who lack permanent legal status.

The narrow focus on civil immigration enforcement presents legal risks, Polis said in his veto letter, because if a court struck down the bill, it “could weaken current protections for vulnerable community members.”

He probably realizes it’s a waste of time, it would have no force of law under the US Constitution, and could see Colorado targeted.

Your Fault: World Experienced Abrupt Climate Swings In Past

Say, what caused this to happen? This is how you take a perfectly reasonable scientific research project and make it into a doomsday cult piece

Ancient Earth experienced abrupt climate swings without polar ice, study finds

Professor Chengshan Wang of the China University of Geosciences led an international research team examining sediment cores from China’s Songliao Basin from about 83 million years ago in the Late Cretaceous, ScienceDaily reported.

At the time, the planet had very high carbon dioxide levels and almost no polar ice.

Many researchers had tied abrupt climate swings mainly to large ice sheets growing and melting. That view fit the last Ice Age. Greenland warmed by up to 16 degrees Celsius within decades, and repeated pulses of icebergs disrupted circulation in the North Atlantic.

But the new study points to a different mechanism of slow changes in Earth’s orbit and axial wobble.

So, wait, it was totally natural? I didn’t think that was possible, per Cult Of Climastrology dogma

The Late Cretaceous may offer one of the best natural comparisons for a much warmer world.

“During the Late Cretaceous, atmospheric CO2 levels reached about 1,000 parts per million — comparable to projections for the end of this century,” said Michael Wagreich, a paleoclimatologist at the University of Vienna, as reported by ScienceDaily.

If global temperatures continue rising, understanding how climate systems behaved under those conditions before could help scientists better anticipate risks.

Four Squishes Join Democrats In Vote To Block More Strikes On Iran

There’s nothing here about Congress taking back its war making power. There’s nothing about Congressional powers. There’s nothing here about standing for one’s principles. This is all just Trump Derangement Syndrome, with all the Democrats and four Squishes choosing to help Iran, a violent enemy of the U.S.

In a first, House votes to block Trump from ordering further strikes on Iran

The House passed a resolution Wednesday to block President Donald Trump from ordering further strikes on Iran, ratcheting up pressure on the administration to find a way to end the unpopular war.

The 215-208 vote marked the first time that such a measure has cleared the House or Senate on a final vote since the start of the conflict more than three months ago. The Senate advanced a similar resolution last month on a procedural vote, reflecting growing impatience with a war Congress hasn’t authorized.

The effort faces sizable hurdles, however, before Congress could force Trump to end hostilities.

In the House, four Republicans — Reps. Thomas Massie (Kentucky), Tom Barrett (Michigan), Warren Davidson (Ohio) and Brian Fitzpatrick (Pennsylvania) — joined Democrats in voting to force Trump to end the war.

It’s not quite at the level of Democrats abandoning the troops in Vietnam, but, this gives Iran shelter and help in their negotiations to end hostilities. Of course Massie is involved. All 211 Democrats voted for this.

To reach Trump’s desk, the Senate resolution would require a final vote in the chamber, which could be tough if every senator is voting. Three Republican senators who have opposed similar resolutions in the past missed the procedural vote on the Senate resolution last month, allowing it to advance. If they had voted the way they have in the past, it would have failed 50-50.

The House would also need to pass the Senate version before it reached Trump’s desk. Trump would almost certainly veto it, forcing the Senate and the House to override his veto with a two-thirds vote in both chambers before the resolution could take effect. No war powers resolution has ever overcome a veto.

Good luck.

While testifying before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Wednesday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Congress passing a resolution would make Iranians less likely to come to the negotiating table.

Rubio said the vote makes Iranian negotiators think that “somehow” the Trump administration’s hands “are going to be tied and we won’t be able to do anything to them, so why make a deal?”

And that is exactly what will happen. Dems and the 4 squishes could have, instead, come together and told Iran to end this with a deal, could have pressured them, but, no, Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Bummer: 9th Circuit Torpedoes Yutes Climate (scam) Lawsuit

Too bad they didn’t ask the kiddies if they have given up their own use of fossil fuels and made their lives carbon neutral

Ninth Circuit Court denies young Americans’ lawsuit challenging Trump’s handling of climate change

A legal effort by 22 young Americans to curb atmosphere-warming greenhouse gas emissions experienced a major setback Tuesday. The Ninth Circuit Court rejected a lawsuit seeking to reverse President Donald Trump’s efforts to expand fossil fuel development.

In a 10-page opinion, the Ninth Circuit wrote that the climate change-related injuries the plaintiffs reported in their litigation bear too tenuous a tie to a trio of executive orders they sought to reverse with the lawsuit.

Those executive orders, issued in the early days of Trump’s second term, directed federal agencies to “unleash” American energy, use emergency powers to expedite permitting for fossil fuel extraction, and identify and rescind actions that place an “undue burden [on] domestic energy resources” such as oil, gas, hydropower and biofuels.

Drawing extensive parallels between Juliana v. United States, a decade-long lawsuit seeking a federal climate response plan, the court foregrounded separation-of-power concerns in its opinion. The judges in 2024 wrote that the judicial branch lacks the power to grant or enforce the federal policy changes the plaintiffs requested.

There’s no law requiring any of what Trump killed, and what he killed were Executive Orders, which any president can kill. Biden rescinded 70-80 of Trump’s EOs. If the yutes are so concerned they should get all their fellow yutes to go carbon neutral.

“Similar to the injunction requested in Juliana, the injunction Plaintiffs seek would require extensive judicial supervision of executive branch actions related to energy policy,” the trio of appellate judges wrote. “Indeed, Plaintiffs explicitly seek to undo everything from staffing reductions, to the revocation of research grants, to anticipated rule changes, to the type of language the current administration has used on government websites. To assign such policy-laden choices to one district court would invert the ‘common understanding what activities are appropriate to legislatures, to executives, and to courts.’”

That’s not even counting that the Supreme Court ruling on Trump v. CASA, Inc, which, while it was meant for district judges, would also apply to circuit courts making nationwide rulings. If they had ruled for the kiddies it would only have applied in the 9th Circuit Court’s jurisdiction.

Julia Olson, co-director of Our Children’s Trust, the Oregon-based nonprofit that represented the plaintiffs in the litigation, maintains that the executive orders are unconstitutional and expressed frustration with the court’s decision not to examine that component of the litigation.

She can maintain that all she wants, but, her little astroturfed lawsuit shamefully using easily pliable children lost, because there is nothing in the Constitution stopping those EOs, nor in federal law.

Pro-Illegal Activists In Philly Want More Protections With Soccer Tournament Coming Up

Wild how these same people fail to push for safety for American citizens from illegal aliens who kill them, rape them, abuse children, steal social security numbers, and more

Immigrant advocates push for protections at FIFA World Cup event in Philadelphia

Immigrant advocates and members of Philadelphia City Council gathered outside City Hall on Wednesday to call for stronger protections for undocumented and mixed-status families.

The Pennsylvania Immigrant Coalition said its goal is to ensure residents understand their rights, especially those who may fear potential immigration enforcement at large gatherings.

“If we wait until ICE shows up at a watch party it’s already too late,” said Council Minority Leader Kendra Brooks.

Organizers urged restaurants, block party hosts and even FIFA Fan Fest planners to take steps that make attendees feel safe.

Do they even understand what ICE would be doing in Philly during FIFA, along with the other cities?

In a video posted online, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said federal efforts during the World Cup will focus on counterfeit tickets and merchandise, human trafficking and drug smuggling.

He did not specifically address immigration enforcement.

Because they won’t be there looking for the illegals, they will be doing the same job they were doing when they were in Italy for the Olympics, especially for human traffickers. Because events like this end up with quite a lot, almost exclusively women and children. Does the pro-illegal crowd prefer women and children being trafficked over illegal aliens? Remember, Immigration And Customs Enforcement: they do more than just illegal aliens.

This is the kind of person the Dems want in Philly for manufacturing and dealing drugs, intent to distribute, all which hurts Americans, and he had already been deported, making coming back a felony.
