The reason for the scorching temperatures is twofold: human-caused climate change plus the cyclic climate pattern known as El Niño. El Niño is a natural pattern that began in June, and leads to extra-hot water in the Pacific. That has cascading effects around the globe, causing more severe weather in many places and higher average temperatures worldwide.
That’s why heat records tend to fall during El Niño, including when the last daily global average temperature record was set in 2016. Climate change, which is caused by humans burning fossil fuels and releasing greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. exacerbates the effects of the natural climate pattern.

The satellite data only goes back to 1979. The thermometer data goes back over a century.
El Nino IS natural!! Yet, and consider this well, each El Nino usually results in a mean global surface temperature greater than the previous El Nino!! Where’s does that “new” heat come from? Some blame undersea volcanoes, others blame heat leakage from the center of the Earth!!
Scientists claim that the continually warming surface also warms the oceans. The massive ocean currents circulate this warmed water, some of which gets redistributed to deeper waters, e.g., in the Pacific. For unknown reasons, every few years the warmer deeper Pacific waters “overturn” releasing heat into the atmosphere. Voila! Record temperatures.
Mr Teach, feeling cornered, now argues that it’s all a scam because scientists today cannot time travel to the Holocene Climatic Optimum and measure with thermometers!!

They use the same proxy data that Deniers rely on to tout their “previous Holocene warm periods”. The statistical error associated with the proxy data is significant, more so the further you reach back in time, than the thermometer data of the past century.

No one argues that the climate is changing. It has been doing so for 20,000 years. No one can explain these changes as they have never explained ice ages. If we listen to liberals/ communist, then the changes involving ice ages is due to carbon. They point to the fact that Fred Flintstone had a car.
