NC GOP Will Vote On Obamacare Mandate Challenge

As they say, elections have consequences. One consequence is that the North Carolina Republican Party is in charge of the entire General Assembly for the first time in 100 years, and, they have a few plans for Obamacare

Republican leaders in the state House have scheduled debate and a possible vote Wednesday.

The measure aims to block a provision requiring people to buy insurance beginning in 2014 or pay a penalty. It also aims to force Attorney General Roy Cooper to join a lawsuit to challenge the law.

Dems are whining that this would deny hundreds of thousands of North Carolinian’s from obtaining health insurance. You know they are losing the argument when they devolve to this type of feelings based absurdity.

Update: passes the NC House 66-50, exempting NC residents from the Obamacare insurance mandate, in full Party lines. Now on to Senate, which GOP controls. Then we’ll see if Gov Perdue ignores the will of the NC people and vetoes.

  1. manbearpig says:

How is it that blocking a law that requires you to buy something will deny you coverage. If I have to buy it anyway, or pay a penalty, blocking the law in no way prevents me from purchasing insurance. I can still go out and buy coverage.

I am convinced that at least half of Americans do not realize that Obamacare requires you to get health insurance, and does not grant it to you for free. If more people realized this I think you would see many more people in favor of repealing this garbage piece of legislation.

  2. But, without the mandate no one can possibly purchase insurance, but, the mandate hasn’t actually kicked in yet, and people are still purchasing insurance, but, if the GOP blocks the mandate, they won’t be able to purchase insurance.. Liberal World is exhausting to follow.
