AGW Today: Schwarzenutter, Airport Malaria, And Light Bulbs (Again)

Arnold should worry more about the rolling brownouts and blackouts that could be hitting his state if climate change legislation passes. Heck, it’s California. Should worry about power outages regardless

(Business and Media Institute) Although investigators have determined the fires plaguing the areas around Santa Barbara and Montecito, Calif. were “human caused,” California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has a different idea of what is behind the lengthy wildfire season.

Schwarzenegger appeared on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” Nov. 16 and discussed the dilemmas plaguing his state, especially the widespread fires throughout California, which forced Schwarzenegger to declare a state of emergency that very day. Schwarzenegger told Stephanopoulos global warming has caused wildfires to be a year-round problem.

“Through global warming, we have now a fire season all year round,” Schwarzenegger said. “We used to have fire seasons only in the fall. But now the fire seasons start in February already.”

Do I really need to go through the effects of lots of moonbats smoking dope around massive amounts of dried brush caused by moonbats? I thought not.

Living in the global village created by speedy air travel gives us all kinds of new health worries. Now it’s gotten to the point that just being near an international airport may be enough to put us at risk for malaria.

According to a statement from the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene:

Airport malaria is transmitted when a mosquito infected with the disease bites a human within the vicinity (usually one mile or less) of an international airport. Warmer climate changes in major U.S. cities with a large presence of international air traffic, such as New York and Los Angeles, seem to have created a more welcoming environment where these infected mosquitoes can survive.

As the Wall Street Journal points out, there is not scientific proof offered. And, let’s remember, it was warm in NYC during the summer even during the Little Ice Age, and, LA is pretty much an urbanized desert. Skeeters can be around, even for a brief time, with temps in the 70’s. More hysterical scare-mongering.

But, good news! All the little climahysterics can feel good with minimal action

Often doing the simplest things will produce the greatest results. So is the case with halting global warming where changing a light bulb, lowering the thermostat in by a few degrees in winter months or just turning off appliances when they aren’t in use will help save our planet.

In other words, they can pretend to walk the talk by doing little, and feel good. Of course, these are the same people who think that “bringing awareness” is actually substantive. Then they head to the soccer game in their Hummer.

I should mention that I used to like CFL’s, due to their lower energy usage. Hey, I’m all for saving money. Too bad they aren’t lasting that long anymore, meaning I spend more money replacing them then with regular bulbs. Back to mostly regular bulbs for me.
