Cancer Cure To Get Human Trials

Well, well, here is a very interesting story about excellent progress in medicine here in Flyover Country < too snarky. News and Observer – Cancer cure in mice to get human trials

Clinical trials begin this week at Wake Forest University on a cancer therapy that has completely cured the disease in every mouse tested over the past few years.

The therapy involves the transfusion of white blood cells from cancer-resistant donors into cancer patients, letting loose a uniquely qualified army of disease fighters to attack the invading tumor.

Some scientists are skeptical about the move from mice to humans, but others are excited about the possibility of success.

I’ve been fortunate that very few people I know have gotten any form of cancer, though one childhood friend did develop a fatal brain tumor, and lost his life about 5 years ago. That said, I certainly hope that the clinical trials have success beyond measure.

No matter how many times the researchers tried to give the mouse cancer, it didn’t develop a tumor, and it didn’t die.

The mouse was immune to cancer.

Good luck! For all of us and future generations.

At this time McCain is ahead of Obama by only 4% in North Carolina. This will be a definite battleground state and may very well go from a fly over state to a fly to state. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/

See Johnny Boy, you comment on McCain/Obama on a post about a cure for cancer. This is the perfect example of your stupidity. Any valid points you ever make are entirely canceled out by the fact that you are incapable of staying of subject and unable to place your psychosis on a leash; even temporarily.

Someone stick a fork in him, he done.

I’ve often wondered that about Johnny-Cakes, why he feels the need to comment about political polls in topics that have nothing to do with politics. That’s like me going into a topic about the Obama campaign and say “I like waffles”.

Maybe johnny-Cakes just has an overwhelming man-crush on Teach???

  4. Um, John, what in the f*ck does that have to do with anything? Isn’t it kinda cool that they are starting these trials, which could go a long way towards curing cancer?

I think it’s great. I have had several family members that have been hit with and died from various types of cancer, and I know how hard it is to watch someone just fade out knowing you can’t really do anything. Or that the treatments they have for it now can get rid of the cancer, but leave you in rough shape afterward (radiation and chemo). This sounds VERY promising and I hope they can work it into a cure for humans.

This is why pharmaceutical companies charge so much for their medicines. Think about what it cost to develop this therapy to the point of getting it into the human trial phase.
