Chris Dodd Joins The Official Surrender Monkey Clan

Not that I am surprised in the least, we have Senator Christopher Dodd (Defeatocrat-Conn) joining the Clan of the Surrender Monkey. I guess he is tired of letting so many other North East liberals, like Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Howard Dean, Charlie Rangle, and Chuck Schumer, be the Left Wing focal points (via Blogs For Bush)

Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., said he regretted being talked out of filibustering tough new tribunal legislation signed by president Bush on Tuesday, and plans to seek new legislation to overturn portions of the bill.

Dodd denounced the measure, which civil liberty groups have said endangers many freedoms.

Dodd said he initially intended to filibuster the bill but was talked out of it by other Democrats who said there wouldn't be enough votes to support the filibuster.

"I regret now that I didn't do it," he said. "This is a major, major blow to who we are."

Hey, Chris, a hint for you, buddy. Unless you are a terrorist caught on the battlefields fighting against the USA forces while wearing no uniform of any nation, and not an American citizen, you do not have to worry about it.

I just will never fully understand the pusillanimous reactions and talk from those on the Left. FDR, who interned thousands upon thousands of Americans of Japanese descent after Pearl Harbor. He would slap todays Democrats in the face for their weak kneed attitudes.

Abe Lincoln suspended habeaus corpus during the Civil War. Truman ordered two atomic bombs to be dropped on civilian populations. German cities were carpet bombed. Were those events a "major, major blow to who we are?" Since the country survived, I would have to say no.

People like Dodd should stop worrying so much about terrorists rights, and worry about protecting American lives. Plus, treating terrorists harshly won't make the way our soldiers are treated any worse. They already torture, decapitate, and desecrate the bodies of our troops.

As a sidebar, notice how the AP has already given the Democrats Congress (they also managed to sneak in a Nazi reference):

Dodd said he would introduce legislation in the lame duck session of Congress, seeking to overturn provisions of the measure, but he conceded his chances of success were slim. The Connecticut senator noted the irony of Bush's action coming close to the 60th anniversary of the judgments against Nazi war criminal in the Nuremberg trials.

We'll see in three weeks, AP. I also would like it noted that Dodd is saying all this not long after the 226th anniversary of Benedict Arnold attempting to give up West Point to the British.

The problem with that is that the current Democratic party would abandon FDR by the wayside just as they did with Joe Lieberman. The current Democratic Party eats their own.

The problem with that is that the current batch of liberal Democrats would abandon FDR just as they abandoned Joe Lieberman. The current Democratic Party eats their own.
