Cass has tagged me.

She actually tagged me days ago, but I was waiting for Sorta Blogless Sunday to do this, something nice. And, again, I like meme’s. It is the tagging that can get difficult.

The rules:

Remove the #1 item from the following list, bump everyone up one place and add your blog’s name in the #5 spot. You need to link to actually link to each of the blogs for the link-whorage aspect of this fiendish meme-age to kick in.

  1. Catallarchy
  2. Unrepentant Individual
  3. No Government Cheese
  4. Villainous Company
  5. Pirate’s Cove

Next, select four unsuspecting victims, list and link to them. Get the plank ready:

So, what is this all about? It is about 5 Things I Miss From Childhood:

1. Summertime. What could be more wonderful then months and months of pure summertime? No worries beyond where you were going to play today, maybe a few chores. But, no work. Get up, Mom makes breakfast, maybe take a worthless shower. Go to the pool, the beach, go fishing, biking, walking, to a fair, ride out to the old bridge over the Manasquan River tailwaters and jump off of it, catch some frogs, and so on. There was almost nothing you couldn’t do, at least until suppertime. And, in NJ, where I grew up, summertime lasted from the beginning of June to the week after Labor Day. Sweet!

2. Being out and about. You could do that when I was a child (just for reference, I’m 37 now). You could go and do all so many things during the summer or after school, and not worry about all the scumbags that seem so prevalent in society today. If we wanted to go riding in the woods, we could. The worst the ‘rentals really worried about was us scraping our knees.

3. Places to play. We had lots of places, that now seem to be all home sites now. Many great woods, a pond, a sand and gravel place that was great for riding our BMX bikes, etc. They never became boring. All gone now.

4. No stinkin’ badges. How nice was it that anyone under 16 didn’t have to pay for a beach badge?

5. Vacations. All you had to do was show up. No worries, no planning, no need for money. Heck, you barely had to pack. The ‘rentals took care of it all. And when you got there? Just have fun.
