NY Man Arrested In Hawaii For Ignoring Lockdown

At first blush, you might think “this is outrageous! Arrested for going outside! Where’s the ACLU?” But, read and consider

New York City man arrested in Hawaii after posting photos on Instagram

Hawaii officials arrested a man from New York on Friday for violating the state’s 14-day quarantine rule for tourists. Tarique Peters, 23, of the Bronx posted photos on Instagram showing him outside his hotel room after he arrived in O’ahu on Monday, according to a news release from the office of Hawaii’s governor.

According to the news release Peters allegedly left his hotel room the same day he arrived “and traveled many places using public transportation.”

“Authorities became aware of his social media posts from citizens who saw posts of him — on the beach with a surfboard, sunbathing, and walking around Waikiki at night,” reads the release. “This morning agents were able to confirm with hotel personnel that had seen Peters leave his room and the premises on numerous occasions this week.”

He was arrested and booked on Friday, and his bail has been set at $4,000.

$4000 bail? While uber-Progressive Hawaii hasn’t gone to the $0 bail system like others, such as California, they have been releasing prisoners. That said, is this outrageous, or was violating the 14 day quarantine rule a terrible thing to do? Cities and states were attempting to keep people from bringing more COVID-19 into their areas and spreading it, which is understandable, right? Especially in light of

Many studies show that Bat Soup Virus spread primarily from NYC (can you imagine had Trump tried to lock down NYC early on, allowing no travel from the area?). And

Hawaii now requires tourists to list their contact and lodging information, and sign an agreement for 14 days of self-quarantine. “By signing the legal document, they acknowledge they understand violating the order is a criminal offense and they are subject to a $5,000 fine and/or a year imprisonment,” according to the state’s department of transportation.

That was the term for entering Hawaii. Is this legal? Is it Constitutional, both federal and State? Good questions. But, if you are traveling from a hotbed of Coronavirus, perhaps you should consider your impact during what is a global pandemic. We aren’t talking about going out and about in your local area: we’re talking about traveling to another state and failing to follow any social distancing and other ideas, which I agree with. I do not wear a mask or gloves, but, I work to keep separate from others (and get really mad when people get too close to me. I’ve yelled at people while walking on the greenway). He knew the rules.

Also, this is a good reason to not post your photos immediately. Especially when criminals may be watching and realize you are not at home.

Anyhow, what are your thoughts?

‘Climate Change’ (scam) Is Lowering Cancer Survival Rates Or Something

Is there anything that the Warmists won’t say ‘climate change’ is making worse? Is there anything that the Cult of Climastrology won’t link to their doomsday cult?

Climate change is fueling extreme weather that lowers cancer survival rate and threatens prevention

Climate change is hindering progress on cancer prevention and increasing people’s exposure to deadly carcinogens, according to a new report from scientists at the American Cancer Society and Harvard University.

Hotter temperatures worldwide have fueled more frequent weather disasters like hurricanes and wildfires that release vast amounts of carcinogens into communities and delay access to cancer treatment.

“The prospects for further progress in cancer prevention and control in this century are bright but face an easily overlooked threat from climate change,” scientists wrote in a new report in the journal CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians.

For instance, when Hurricane Harvey made landfall on Texas and Louisiana in August 2017, it caused catastrophic flooding that inundated chemical plants and oil refineries and released deadly carcinogens into neighborhoods in Houston, the nation’s fourth-largest city.

See, hurricanes never happened prior to the combustion engine. Wildfires, by the way, are not weather disasters. What we have learned is most are set, intentionally or unintentionally, by humans. Nor have either hurricanes and wildfires increased from a tiny 1.5F increase in the global temperature since 1850, much of which is from land use and the Urban Heat Island effect.

Extreme weather disasters also lower cancer survival rates. One study shows that cancer patients were 19% more likely to die when hurricane declarations were made during their therapy because of treatment interruptions compared with patients who had regular access to care.

Yes, that’s understandable. However, hurricanes do not happen that often, and are not due to a slight temperature increase because you, my friend, ate a burger then took a fossil fueled trip.

Climate-change mitigation efforts in general can benefit cancer prevention by lowering harmful greenhouse gas emissions. Scientists urged interventions like increased use of renewable energy, sustainable manufacturing and reduced intake of red and processed meat.

None of those will stop hurricanes, tropical systems, and idiots starting fires. But, acolytes of the Cult of Climastrology always have to keep the doom going. And, you know what? Without the trappings of a modern society brought by fossil fuels and inexpensive electricity most people would die of cancer like they used to before the Modern Warm Period.

Interesting: Democrats Are Suddenly For “Walls” And Against Election Monitoring

The Bat Soup Virus pandemic has exposed Democrats in various ways. It’s shown that a goodly chunk of them are truly Authoritarians at heart. We’ve seen small bits of this pre-pandemic, and bigly in practice during. We’ve seen them want to blow off the Constitution in practice. And, apparently, they actually like walls, at least when they apply to U.S. citizens

Michigan Protester: Democrats Now Believe ‘Walls Do Work’ with Quarantine Orders

Michigan protester Rob Cortis told Breitbart News that Democrats now believe walls work because of the quarantines they’ve imposed.

Cortis and his “Trump Unity Bridge” float were in Grand Haven, Michigan, on Saturday to protest the closure of a huge parking lot at Gand Haven State Park, shuttered due to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s shutdown orders.

“Nancy Pelosi, [Chuck] Schumer, even Joe Biden and [Barack] Obama. They all finally agree with President Trump that walls do work because they’re endorsing the quarantine around all the people, building a wall around them and saying, ‘If we build a wall around you with quarantine, you’ll be safe,’” Cortis told Breitbart News.

“And if you’re safe, we’ll slowly let you out properly. We’ll put some rules and guidelines together, just like President Trump said,” he said.

“They all agree with President Trump!” he declared.

It is a good point, is it not? The hardest lockdowns were mostly in states and cities run by Democrats. Those were the areas we were seeing the police sent after people outside, even when those people were social distancing and/or doing things allowed. Heck, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio is threatening to sic the NYPD on people partying outside NYC bars. In Miami the other day a woman was arrested for sitting on the beach with a “We Are Free” sign. It took 3 police vehicles and 3 foot officers to drag this woman involved in her 1st Amendment right to protest away.

Freed by Court Ruling, Republicans Step Up Effort to Patrol Voting
Officials seek to recruit 50,000 poll watchers and spend millions to fight voter fraud. Democrats say the real goal is to stop them from voting.

Almost no reason to get beyond the headline and subhead, eh?

Six months before a presidential election in which turnout could matter more than persuasion, the Republican Party, the Trump campaign and conservative activists are mounting an aggressive national effort to shape who gets to vote in November — and whose ballots are counted.

Its premise is that a Republican victory in November is imperiled by widespread voter fraud, a baseless charge embraced by President Trump, but repeatedly debunked by research. Democrats and voting rights advocates say the driving factor is politics, not fraud — especially since Mr. Trump’s narrow win in 2016 underscored the potentially crucial value of depressing turnout by Democrats, particularly minorities.

Would you believe this piece is in the U.S. section, not the opinion section?

The Republican program, which has gained steam in recent weeks, envisions recruiting up to 50,000 volunteers in 15 key states to monitor polling places and challenge ballots and voters deemed suspicious. That is part of a $20 million plan that also allots millions to challenge lawsuits by Democrats and voting-rights advocates seeking to loosen state restrictions on balloting. The party and its allies also intend to use advertising, the internet and President Trump’s command of the airwaves to cast Democrats as agents of election theft.

Remember when Democrats were screeching about Bush stealing the election in 2000 and 2004? And how so many wanted the United Nations to monitor the elections in 2004 and 2008 and 2012 and 2016? But, are now against poll monitoring? How about that?

Oh, look, more

Companies With Combined Assets Of $11.5 Trillion Want Congress To Spend Your Money On ‘Climate Change’

Yes, yes, they spend some of their own money, but, not all that much. Why not? If they really care, they should put their money where their mouths are

Microsoft, Visa and others worth combined $11.5 trillion want Congress to include climate in COVID-19 recovery plan

Chief executives and other representatives from more than 330 businesses, including Capital One, General Mills, Microsoft, Nike, Salesforce, Visa, and more are calling on bipartisan federal lawmakers to build back a better economy from COVID-19 by infusing resilient climate solutions.

The businesses, in lobbying Congress Wednesday through an effort they call LEAD on Climate 2020, represent combined annual revenues of more than $1 trillion and a shared market valuation of nearly $11.5 trillion. They employee more than 3 million people. The group, supported by sustainable investing advocates Ceres, claims they are the largest ever to advance a call to action from the business community to Congress on climate change.

The businesses behind the pledge want Congress to work toward putting Americans into clean-energy jobs, as well as foster an accelerated transition to a net-zero emissions economy by 2050 or sooner and provide more investment in sustainable infrastructure. The business leaders also urge Congress to consider a goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050 and setting a carbon price. Setting a market-based carbon price remains a policy sticking point in a divided quest for a solution to man-made accelerating climate change, although has been increasingly, if slowly, adopted.

Let them do it themselves. Why do Warmists always want Other People to bear the burden of their Beliefs? If they really thought this was a good idea they’d be investing heavily with their own revenues…..oh, hey, they wouldn’t have any ulterior motives in getting some of that sweet, sweet tax money, right?

Federal Judge Rules In Favor Of NC Churches, Saying “There Is No Pandemic Exception To The Constitution”

We already know that multiple North Carolina Sheriff’s departments have said they would not enforce the governor’s restrictions against inside worship, because they don’t see much difference between some worshipers meeting from hundreds of people going to Home Depot. Or all the people in the grocery store. People get way too close while riding their bikes on the greenways (via Sister Toldjah)

Federal judge says ‘There is no pandemic exception to the Constitution’

A federal judge issued a temporary restraining order preventing the enforcement of Gov. Roy Cooper’s executive orders that restrict church worship in North Carolina. A group founded by pastors and churches sued Cooper over his executive orders alleging they violate the U.S. and N.C. constitutions.

U.S. District Court Judge James C. Dever heard arguments on Friday from a group of plaintiffs who challenged Cooper’s authority to restrict religious activities. Saturday, the judge said the plaintiffs are “likely to succeed on the merits of their Free Exercise claim concerning the assembly for religious worship provisions in Executive Order 138, that they will suffer irreparable harm absent a temporary restraining order, that the equities tip in their favor, and that a temporary restraining order is in the public interest.”

The judge said unequivocally that “There is no pandemic exception to the Constitution of the United States or the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment.” (snip)

In his ruling, Judge Dever said that the restrictions placed on religious groups “represent precisely the sort of ‘subtle departures from neutrality” that the Free Exercise Clause is designed to prevent.”

Exactly. Now, I understand why many governors, county executives, and mayors did what they did: they were scared and concerned (and some were power mad). Cooper has mostly been reasonable, but, it’s time to allow people to live their lives. It would have been better had he requested that churches do their best to social distance and have service outside and such, getting the folks leading the churches behind him (same with mosques and synagogues and such). But, remember, everything was rushed at all levels. That said, after the initial rush there was time to consider and discuss. That did not happen. Hence, lawsuits.

Dever also scrutinized Cooper’s statement that inside worship would only be allowed if outside services were “impossible” and that county sheriff’s and local police would enforce the provisions. “A leader of a religious entity or a worshiper, under pain of criminal prosecution for a Class 2 misdemeanor, has to answer to a sheriff or other local law enforcement officer whether it is ”impossible’ to worship outside. Who could answer that question, ‘Yes. It is impossible.’?” asked Dever. “After all, in the overwhelming majority of cases, members of a religious entity would have gathered to worship from somewhere else.”

The judge said there were “glaring inconsistencies between the treatment of religious entities and individuals” and that “the Governor’s counsel conceded that there is no public health rationale for allowing 50 people to gather inside at a funeral, but to limit an indoor religious worship service to no more than 10 people.”

Dever said he did not doubt that Gov. Cooper desired to protect North Carolinians and that it did not ”make a difference that faith-based bigotry did not motivate” the governor’s actions. “The Constitution makes the bar higher than that,” said Dever. “A law is not neutral and generally applicable unless there is neutrality between religion and non-religion.”

One thing that bothers me about this ruling and many others is that they all seem to forget that each state has its own Constitution with a section on Rights, because, originally, the Bill Of Rights applied to the Federal government, with amendments 9 and 10 leaving everything not mentioned to the states and citizens. The NC Constitution is very clear on religion (section 13) “All persons have a natural and inalienable right to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of their own consciences, and no human authority shall, in any case whatever, control or interfere with the rights of conscience.” That couldn’t more clear, eh?

Dever did also admonish worshipers to observe social distancing and other protocols. If they are smart, they will. Further, the judge was wise in not slamming Governor Cooper, and even praising him. That’s the best way to get cooperation, right? Even when you don’t necessarily need it. Hence

This kind of ruling will potentially lead to similar rulings in other states, especially the more restrictive ones.

Bummer: California To Kill Off Billions In Climate Change (scam) Spending

Look, Californian’s, if you really care, you’ll bite the bullet and just deal with the increased cost of living, increased taxes, and reduced services elsewhere

California’s budget cuts include canceling billions in climate change spending

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s proposed budget cuts include canceling billions of dollars in climate change spending, a blow to environmental advocates who look to the state as a stopgap for the Trump administration’s weakening of federal protections.

In January, Newsom proposed a $12 billion “climate budget” that, over the next five years, would offer incentives for companies to convert to electric vehicles, give low-interest loans to businesses to clean up their practices and spend billions on projects preparing for floods, droughts and wildfires.

But Thursday, Newsom proposed eliminating most of the foundation for those programs to balance a budget that will have an estimated $54.3 billion deficit. The economic downturn has been brought by a statewide stay-at-home order to limit the spread of the coronavirus. The order has closed most businesses for two months, putting more than 4.5 million people out of work and sending state tax collections plummeting. (snip)

The Newsom administration says the cuts represent “unprecedented times” that have forced the state to “make sacrifices that we didn’t think six months ago we would have to do.” The administration chose to protect programs to clean up the air in disadvantaged communities and to provide safe drinking water.

So, spending money on real issues, rather than made up ones. Action on ‘climate change’ is popular when things are going well. Once the sh*t hits the fan, people don’t have the luxury of dealing with 1st World Issues.
