Bummer: Reports Say There Will Be 1.6 Million Fewer “Immigrants” In The US

The phrase Politico is looking for is “illegal aliens.” Heck, they aren’t even going with something like “undocumented Americans”

1.6M fewer US immigrants expected this year amid Trump, GOP policies, CBO predicts

President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, along with those in the GOP megabill enacted this summer, will significantly reduce the number of immigrants in the United States in the coming years, Congress’ nonpartisan scorekeeper estimated Wednesday.

The Congressional Budget Office now predicts that total net immigration will be 1.6 million people smaller this year than it projected in January. Contributing to that downward trend, the Republican tax and spending package Trump signed into law in January is estimated to result in the removal of 290,000 immigrants and the voluntary exit of 30,000 others over the next five years.

What the budget office has not yet calculated is how stemming the influx of immigrants will affect the federal budget. Those estimates are expected next year.

On the upside for Trump and congressional Republicans, cooling immigration is expected to shrink federal spending. But there are negative counterweights for GOP leaders too: Namely, foregone cash from taxes.

The number seems rather low. I guess we’ll have to see how many actually get deported and how many self deport. Also, remember that the border is not being overrun with illegals and fake asylum seekers. There are very few encounters, and most are not being let in.

New USCIS ‘Special Agents’ Will Be Given the Power to Arrest, Use Deadly Force Against Immigrants

On September 5, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the agency established by Congress to adjudicate immigration applications, made a startling announcement. For the first time since the agency was created in 2003, the agency will create a new class of “special agents,” who will be authorized to carry firearms and arrest people for both civil and criminal immigration and non-immigration violations.

This drastic change in the agency’s mission will instill fear in applicants seeking lawful status with USCIS, further pushing individuals who do not have clear-cut eligibility into the shadows, directly impacting our safety and security. The vagueness of the new rules also creates a lot of uncertainty for U.S. citizens and American businesses sponsoring family members and foreign talent, as well as for the lawyers representing individuals with difficult cases.

If they’ve gone through the standard legal channels, there is no worry. If they are illegal/fake asylum seekers, well, just self deport. Make it easy on yourself.

And things are ramping up in Chicago

It’s worth going and reading the whole DHS thread, which highlights many of the illegals caught, all sorts of very bad people. Who Democrats want to defend.

‘Climate Change’ Can Make Burning Man’s “Biblical Weather” Feel Worse

Are we really concerned over a bunch of rich kids, celebs, and people overspending on a terrible gathering in the desert, fueled by drugs, sex, and too much social media, dealing with weather?

At Burning Man, the Weather Can Feel Biblical. Will Climate Change Make It Even Worse?

Mariska Keasberry and her crew of builders got to Burning Man in Nevada early this year. As they finished setting up camp — in anticipation of more than 100 people joining their setup in the coming days — they felt proud of their efforts.

But then, from a distance, they saw a wall of white approaching them — fast.

For the next two hours, as the sandstorm enveloped them, they tried to save what they had just built. But the raging dust “ended up taking out about 70% of our infrastructure,” Keasberry said.

Over the course of the week, they would rebuild their camp again and again.

“In some ways, this felt a little bit like ‘Building Man,’” said Keasberry, an Oakland resident who has been going to the festival since 2016 and now co-leads a camp called The Heart Collective.

Wait, sandstorms in the desert? Really?

This year, the sandstorm was followed by several days of rain and near-triple-digit heat. And multiple years of this kind of extreme weather on the playa — including the torrential rain that created a “mudpocalypse” in 2023 — have caused some attendees to question whether to return to Black Rock Desert. They’re also wondering if human-caused climate change is threatening the viability of future burns.

You mean weather that happens in that area? None of this is unusual. But, if they’re really concerned, perhaps they will stop using all those fossil fueled vehicles to travel to this idiocy.

From the outside in — or even the inside out — the weather at this year’s burn sure looked biblical. Burning Man officials state clearly on their website to “be prepared for volatile extremes,” including excessive heat, freezing temperatures, swift thunderstorms, up to 70 mph winds and intense dust storms. The Burning Man Project, the nonprofit that organizes the festival each year, did not respond to KQED’s request for comment.

OK, once the cultists throw in “freezing temperatures” I’m done. This is a cult.

For Some Reason, Immigration Officials Have To Defend Blocking People With Anti-American Views

If you do not like America, hate America, want to hurt America, denigrate America, well, why are you coming to America?

Top US immigration official defends rule targeting ‘anti-American’ views in green card, visa process

A new rule allowing a U.S. immigration agency to scrutinize a person’s “anti-American” views when applying for a green card or other benefits isn’t designed to target political beliefs, but to identify support for terrorist activity, the organization’s director told The Associated Press.

In a wide-ranging interview on Monday, the director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Joseph Edlow, delved into the agency’s contentious policy — announced last month — which allows officers to decide whether a foreigner applying for a certain benefit has endorsed what they believe are anti-American views.

Edlow also detailed problems he sees with a training program that’s popular with international students, but hated by some Trump supporters. He described how and why he’s thinking of changing the process by which hundreds of thousands of people become American citizens every year. (snip)

The new policy by USCIS stipulates that its officers could now consider whether an applicant “endorsed, promoted, supported, or otherwise espoused” anti-American, terrorist or antisemitic views when making their decision about whether to grant the benefit.

Critics questioned whether it gives officers too much leeway in rejecting foreigners based on a subjective judgment.

Heck no, they should have more judgement on this. Free Speech is wonderful for American citizens. If you hate it in the US then don’t come. We can give a visa to people who want to be here. If you hate Jews and/or support terrorism/terrorist groups, you have no place here.

BTW, I dropped two posts over at The First Street Journal. Check them out there, I’m not going to bother importing them, gotta get on the road. I’m going to write an If All You See Post, will most likely have to manually post it around 1pm depending on traffic. Hilariously, even with the admin page down (there were a few leftover fragments of a deleted plugin hidden, thanks Dreamhost for removing them).

LOL: St. Greta’s Hamas Aid Flotilla Says Struck By Israeli Drone Bomb

St. Greta, who flipped from climate doom activism to pro-Islamic terrorism and Jew hatred activism, tried to stage an incident, but, even the usually reliable NY Times is skeptical

Aid Group Says Drone Struck Gaza-Bound Boat Docked in Tunisia

An international group on a mission to deliver humanitarian aid by sea to Palestinians in Gaza said late Monday that one of its boats, docked in Tunisia, had been struck by what it believed was a drone, resulting in a fire.

No one on the vessel was injured, the group, the Global Sumud Flotilla, said in a statement. It said the boat was docked at the Tunisian port of Sidi Bou Said, part of a flotilla that was on its way to Gaza, when the incident occurred.

The Tunisian National Guard, in a statement posted on Facebook, said there was no evidence that a ship in the port had been attacked, dismissing social media reports to the contrary as “baseless.” Based on initial investigations, it said, the fire on the boat appeared to have started in a life jacket, caused by a cigarette butt or a lighter.

In video shared by the aid group, apparently taken on a ship, a man on deck looks up toward the sky, reacts with shock and alarm and backs quickly away. There is a flash of light and the sound of an explosion, followed by cries for help, and smoke emerges from the direction of the ship’s bow.

Supposedly this is the “drone”

Yasemin Acar, an activist in the convoy, said in a video posted online that “a drone came right above” the Family Boat, “released a bomb, and it exploded, and the boat was on fire.” The fire was put out, she added.

Drones do not drop flaming bombs. Bombs go boom, not flare. Looks more like someone was playing with a flare or something. Or, fake, as some have claimed.

Francesca Albanese, a United Nations special rapporteur, said in a social media post from Tunisia that the claim of a drone attack had yet to be verified, but that there was a “history of attacks on the flotilla.” She said that such an attack would constitute an “assault” against Tunisian sovereignty.

Obviously, someone working with the UN would immediately want to Blame Israel.

Your Fault: People Are Eating More Sugar

We could have avoided this, but, no, your ancestor worked in a coal mine and you refuse to give your money and freedom to government

Scientists find a surprising reason why people are eating more sugar

Ice creams, frozen desserts and super-chilled sodas take on a new appeal in sticky summer heat. As climate change drives hotter temperatures, Americans are consuming more and more of them, new research finds, with worrying health consequences.

There is plenty of evidence climate change will shape food availability and quality, leading to shortagesprice increases and even affecting nutritional value, said Pan He, a study author and a lecturer in environmental science and sustainability at Cardiff University. But far less is known about its effects on what we choose to eat and drink, she told CNN.

The researchers scoured US household food purchasing data between 2004 to 2019 allowing them to track the same families over a long time. They then compared purchasing decisions with regional weather data, including temperature and humidity.

As temperatures ticked up, people consumed more sugar, mostly in the form of sugar-sweetened drinks such as soda and juice, according to the study published Monday in the journal Nature Climate Change.

For every 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit of warming, added sugar consumption in US households increased by 0.7 grams per person per day, the researchers found, with a marked escalation as temperatures hit between 68 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit.

Got that? It gets warm so people drink more cold drinks and have sweets like ice cream. Big news there, eh? We can solve this if you would just buy and EV, or, better yet, take the bus

Exactly how climate change will affect humanity’s eating habits, and the potential consequences on health and inequality, still remain unclear, He said, with much more research needed across different parts of the world.

So, the entire article based on a study was….meaningless? Because they really do not know anything? Huh.

Supreme Court Says It’s Fine For ICE To Arrest Those Who Fit Profile Of Illegals In LA

The Democrats are Apoplexy Category 5

SCOTUS Allows ICE Agents to Keep Arresting Illegal Aliens in Sanctuary City Los Angeles

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) has granted a request from President Donald Trump’s administration to override a lower court’s ruling that barred Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from carrying out federal immigration enforcement operations under the claim that such raids constitute racial profiling.

In July, Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong, appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California by former President Joe Biden, halted ICE agents from conducting raids in the sanctuary jurisdiction of the Los Angeles, California, metro area.

Before the Trump administration asked SCOTUS to allow ICE agents to continue arresting illegal aliens in Los Angeles while the case makes its way through the courts, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Frimpong’s order.

On Monday, in a 6-3 decision, Justice Kavanaugh writes for the conservative majority that “the government has made a sufficient showing to obtain a stay pending appeal.”

In particular, Kavanaugh writes that “immigration stops based on reasonable suspicion of illegal presence have been an important component of U. S. immigration enforcement for decades, across several presidential administrations,” and given the recent influx of illegal aliens under Biden, it is reasonable that ICE agents have focused their efforts on Los Angeles.

Let’s be honest, the vast majority ICE stops in Sanctuary City Los Angeles and other towns are already known to be illegally present in the U.S. Most is not raids on a whim, or yanking Hispanic looking people out of the cars. It’s targeted. They know who they are, because they registered with the government when Biden let them across the border. Or Obama let them across. Or, they’ve overstayed visas or ordered deported decades ago.

It’s not like the 70s and 80s where La Migra rolled up and just raided places looking to find them. They know who they are. ICE and other federal agencies know where they are. Many are receiving government funded apartments, housing, food, schooling, etc.

Meanwhile, Justice Sotomayor, in writing a dissenting opinion that Justices Kagan and Jackson joined, called the court’s stay on the lower court’s decision “yet another grave misuse of our emergency docket.”

“We should not have to live in a country where the Government can seize anyone who looks Latino, speaks Spanish, and appears to work a low-wage job,” Sotomayor writes. “Rather than stand idly by while our constitutional freedoms are lost, I dissent.”

My freedom is not lost: I’m a citizen. Oh, BTW, lefties, ICE and the others are grabbing people who are Chinese and from other Asian countries and here illegally.

Vox: Maryland Man Bringing Screwworm Back From El Salvador Is A Warning Sign

It’s literally one guy who visited El Salvador (no mention that I can find if he’s a US citizen or something else)

A flesh-eating parasite is at our borders. What happens if it spreads?

A Maryland resident who traveled to El Salvador came home last month with an unwelcome souvenir: larvae of the New World screwworm burrowing in their flesh.

The patient has since recovered from the painful parasite, and Maryland health officials confirmed that there’s no sign of transmission to anyone else. But the case is historic: It’s the first time in more than half a century that a human in the US has been infected by a screwworm.

On its own, it’s a medical oddity — a one-off, travel-linked case that doesn’t pose a direct risk to Americans. But it’s also a warning sign of a much bigger threat creeping toward US borders. One that could rattle the backbone of American agriculture.

For the past two decades, screwworms were held at a distance by an invisible barrier along the Panama-Colombia border by a joint US-Panama program that regularly floods the region with sterile flies. That barrier has, however, cracked. Since 2023, screwworm has resurged through Central America and into Mexico.

That’s a pretty quick jump from one dude to ZOMG!, eh? We learn later that perhaps it was a Bad Idea for the Biden admin to pretty much invite all those illegals to rush towards the US border, bringing cattle along the way, which were infected with screwworm.

Experts say that the context has shifted in the last 50 years. Climate change is warming habitats, increasing possible places where screwworms can thrive. Industrial livestock farming has scaled up enormously, meaning a single outbreak could speak through herds faster than ever. Meanwhile, the Trump administration pushed out around 15,000 USDA employees and terminated a screwworm monitoring project. We have newer, better tools to fight off these, but those are yet to be approved. And parasites don’t wait for paperwork.

Climate doom! Also, TDS

Smuggling of cattle through Central America seeded fresh outbreaks in new regions, and climate shifts — higher temperatures and humidity — aided their spread. By spring 2025, Mexico was reporting detections as far north as Oaxaca and Veracruz, a stretch of land far wider and difficult to contain than the narrow Darién. COPEG has been running flat out, turning out around 100 million larvae each week. But even at maximum capacity, the plant can only do so much. The screwworm front continued to advance.

Smuggling, or, illegals bringing them? Which has zero do with “climate shifts”.

Earlier this year, the USDA committed $21 million to convert an old fruit-fly plant in Metapa, Mexico, to churn out 60 million to 100 million sterile screwworms weekly to be released in southern Mexico, where the new front is. It’s also building a factory in Edinburg, Texas, with three times that capacity. Congress is trying to lock this in with the STOP Screwworms Act, a bipartisan bill that would formally authorize USDA to build and fund the new Texas facility.

Oh, so the Trump admin is taking actions? Huh. Guess the TDS was unwarranted.

Seriously, all this hyperventilating over one dumbass traveling to El Salvador.
