Bird Behavior Indicates Impending Human Demise
Framed by a binocular lens the life of birds looks almost like a separate reality, but science has shown that those birds and the people who watch them share one thing: an ecosystem threatened by global climate change. According to avian experts, birds not only share our ecosystem, but also serve as important indicators of its health. Scientists agree that whatever change happens, whether it’s habitat destruction or extreme weather events, it will manifest first in the environment’s most vulnerable species.
“When birds are showing sides of distress, when there’s a drop in the bird population, then it’s a red flag. It’s a danger signal that something’s wrong with the ecosystem,†said Bob Powers, executive director of the Santa Clara Audubon Society, who has worked to educate people about the dangers faced by both birds and humans.
Because the climate never changed before Mankind used fossil fueled travel and in home icemakers.
Within the more pessimistic scenario modeled, in which sea level rises 1.65 meters by 2110 and little sediment is available, scientists predict a 150% decline in the populations of black rails, common yellow throats, song sparrows and marsh wrens.
????????? How in the hell do you see a 150% percent decrease? Will globull warming cause 50% of the birds to rise up as zombie birds?
Wait, wait, it gets funnier
In an optimistic scenario, in which the sea level rises .52 meters by 2110 and more sediment (sediment availability ranges from 25 to 300 mg/L) is available, scientists predict an increase of about 150% in the clapper rail population and up to 100% increase in the populations of common yellow throats and song sparrows.
So, the situation that is somewhat more realistic in terms of what has happened over the past 7,000 years regarding sea rise would be good for the birds. 1.65 meters is 5.41 feet, .56 meters is 1.837 feet, which is still about double the reality.

It’s interesting how the social beliefs of Leftists end up hitting everyone in the wallet, eh?
(Telegraph) Motorists will subsidise a move to ensure ten per cent of transport energy comes from renewable sources such as biodiesel made from maize or sugarcane.
However, the target will cause the cost of biofuel to increase and demand for renewable sources of energy from around the world will also push its cost up.
We’re only talking about (now) 35 Pounds, about $59 US. But, as we all know, these things have a way of escalating once the Real World intrudes. But, that’s real money to real people, which, when added on to all the other skyrocketing costs caused by hotcoldwetdry legislation and rulemaking, makes the cost of living artificially high.
The report found that the target is badly backfiring by causing hunger in the developing world as the demand for the biodiesel will mean that farmers grow maize for feeding cars rather than people.
The amount of land used to produce enough biofuel for just 3.5 per cent of UK transport fuel in 2008 could have fed 127 million people, according to the report.
There are even concerns biofuels could be contributing to rising food prices and increasing carbon emissions.
The writers of the article isn’t a “skeptic”: Louise Gray is a dedicated Warmist, and if she’s highlighting the fact that all these biofuels can cause rising prices and hunger, perhaps they should be rethought. This is life in Warmist World: get hysterical, demand that Something Be Done, throw money at it, pass rules and laws, and then realize that “oh, crap, this won’t work, it can actually make things worse.”
Don’t forget: this is all about some stupid film released months ago, and not about the US. Or the spread of extremist Islam
(Fox News) Hundreds of protesters demonstrating against an anti-Islam film torched a press club and a government building in northwest Pakistan on Monday, sparking clashes with police that left at least one person dead. Demonstrations also turned violent outside a U.S. military base in Afghanistan and the U.S. Embassy in Indonesia.
In Afghanistan, hundreds of people burned cars and threw rocks at a U.S. military base in the capital, Kabul. Many in the crowd shouted “Death to America!” and “Death to those people who have made a film and insulted our prophet.”
Later in the day, protests broke out in other areas of Kabul, including the main thoroughfare into the city, where demonstrators burned shipping containers and tires. The crowd torched at least one police vehicle before finally dispersing, according Daoud Amin, the deputy police chief for Kabul province.
At a separate protest in front of a mosque in southwest Kabul, several dozen people shouted anti-U.S. slogans and called for President Barack Obama to bring those who have insulted the prophet to justice.
In Jakarta, hundreds of Indonesians angered over the film clashed with police outside the U.S. Embassy, hurling rocks and firebombs and setting tires alight outside the mission, marking the first violence seen in the world’s most populous Muslim country since international outrage over the film exploded last wee
Demonstrators burned a picture of President Barack Obama and also tried to ignite a fire truck parked outside the embassy after ripping a water hose off the vehicle and torching it, sending plumes of black smoke billowing into the sky. Police used a bullhorn to appeal for calm and deployed water cannons and tear gas to try to disperse the crowd as the protesters shouted “Allah Akbar,” or God is great.
“We will destroy America like this flag!” a protester screamed while burning a U.S. flag. “We will chase away the American ambassador from the country!”
And in Lahore
The rally was addressed by Jamatud Dawa chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, THR head Ameer Hamza, JD leader Hafiz Abdul Rehman Makki, Pakistan Muslim League (Zia) head Ijazul Haq, Jamaat Ulema Islam-Sami (JUI-S) leader Asim Makhdoom and Jamaat Ahle Hadith ameer Hafiz Abdul Ghaffar Ropari.
Hafiz Saeed alleged that the film, Innocence of Muslims, had been produced with the backing of US establishment. He said the director, the producer and all those involved in the production and release of the movie must be hanged publicly. “The US must make a law against blasphemy – or we will not let the US consulates in Pakistan function,†he said.
Jamatud Dawa (usually known as Jamaat Ud Dawa) is the political arm of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (Army of the Righteous), an Islamist group in Pakistan that has been pushing for an Islamic state in Southeast Asia since it’s founding in 1990. Saeed is one of the founders. The group has attacked civilian targets often, especially in India, which include the 2001 Indian Parliament and 2008 Mumbai attacks. Lashkar-e-Taiba is designated a terrorist group by the US, Britain, India, Pakistan, and many other countries.
He said a resolution condemning the movie in the parliament was not enough. Instead, President Asif Ali Zardari must announce jihad against countries like the US that supported attacks on Islam. The Organisation of Islamic Countries Conference should announce a boycott of US goods. Ijazul Haq, the PML-Z chief, said the people had shown their loyalty to Islam. He said the government leader’s silence was shameful. He said no one had dared commit blasphemy during his father Ziaul Haq’s rule.
Lest you think this is isolated, how about
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono urged the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Monday to issue edicts against religious defamation in the wake of global protests ignited by a film insulting the Prophet Muhammad.
“I call on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the UN to mull over international protocol to prevent such things like this from happening again,†Yudhoyono said, referring to the anti-Islam film “The Innocence of Muslims.â€
That would be the president of Indonesia. And Islamists in Iran are saying Obama can be sued over the movie thanks to UN covenants.

For every action from those that are out to save Gaia comes an opposite action that leaves you scratching your head
(Australian) THE “smart” gases created by scientists to help save the Earth’s ozone layer have turned out to have a devastating side effect: they have boosted global warming by up to 20 per cent.
A new study has shown that the gases, although present in just tiny amounts, can be thousands of times stronger than CO2 at retaining heat in the atmosphere.
Many are far longer-lived, some having lifetimes of thousands of years. This means that if emissions continue they will accumulate in the atmosphere.
Because of the hole in the ozone, blamed on Mankind, many refrigerants were forcible replaced with others, which are now shown to be worse as greenhouse gases. Surely, Warmists will now want to ban the newer refrigerants with forcing Other People to give up their A/C.

Happy Sunday! Another gorgeous day in America. Clouds are out, rain is helping the parched land, the squirrels were trying to steal my hummingbird feeder. This pinup is a bit more modern, done by Kevin Clark, with a wee bit of help.
What is happening in Ye Olde Blogosphere? The Fine 15
As always, the full set of pinups can be seen in the Patriotic Pinup category, or over at my Gallery page. While we are on pinups, since it is that time of year, have you gotten your “Pinups for Vets†calendar yet? And don’t forget to check out what I declare to be our War on Women Rule 5 and linky luv posts
Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.
The posts do take a long time, so, if you want to send me your links for Rule 5 babeage or links, use ye olde email in the header bar (remove the NOSPAM part). Preferably, create the html link so I can copy and paste how you want it to read.

The Washington Post’s Fouad Ajami poses this question, and works to answer it, which is rather strange, considering that so many Liberals constantly tell us that it’s not the 1.3 billion plus Muslims who are bat guano violent, just a small minority. Ajami seems to be saying that all are like this, at least in the Middle East.
Modernity requires the willingness to be offended. And as anti-American violence across the Middle East and beyond shows, that willingness is something the Arab world, the heartland of Islam, still lacks.
Time and again in recent years, as the outside world has battered the walls of Muslim lands and as Muslims have left their places of birth in search of greater opportunities in the Western world, modernity — with its sometimes distasteful but ultimately benign criticism of Islam — has sparked fatal protests. To understand why violence keeps erupting and to seek to prevent it, we must discern what fuels this sense of grievance.
I’d suggest because so many of their values, and I’m speaking of Islamists, not Muslims as a whole, are left in the 13th century. Ajami then goes on to describe how the Muslim world went on to conquer, or, as he writes, “overran”, so much of Europe, Arabia, and Northern Africa, before
The ruling caliphate, with its base in Baghdad, was torn asunder by a Mongol invasion in the 13th century.
Apparently they’re still a little pissed about that, and haven’t been able to move on and join us here in the 21st century.
The coming of the West to their world brought superior military, administrative and intellectual achievement into their midst — and the outsiders were unsparing in their judgments. They belittled the military prowess of the Arabs, and they were scandalized by the traditional treatment of women and the separation of the sexes that crippled Arab society.
And there you go: it’s the fault of the Western World, the 1st World, and most assuredly America, that these regressives who aren’t capable of modern military tactics, incapable of using their modern military arms correctly (let’s not forget that tiny Israel kicked the asses of multiple Arab countries multiple times), treat their women as chattel, marry off girls as young as 11, treat gays horrendously, and so much more.
Even as Arabs insist that their defects were inflicted on them by outsiders, they know their weaknesses. Younger Arabs today can be brittle and proud about their culture, yet deeply ashamed of what they see around them. They know that more than 300 million Arabs have fallen to economic stagnation and cultural decline. They know that the standing of Arab states along the measures that matter — political freedom, status of women, economic growth — is low. In the privacy of their own language, in daily chatter on the street, on blogs and in the media, and in works of art and fiction, they probe endlessly what befell them.
Yet, they aren’t trying to modernize: the Islamists are attempting to keep their culture in the 13th century while still using many devices of the modern era. They want a Renaissance of the pre-13th century, where they conquer the world and force people to either accept their hardcore version of Islam or kill them. They don’t want political freedom: they want compliance in a fascist/theological world wide caliphate. They want an ultra-paternalistic culture, where women need 4 witnesses if they are raped, where women can only be seen in public with either their husband or a male member of their family, while wearing a burka, of course. Economic growth with the Middle East is solely based on their oil: without it, what economy they have would collapse. Making IEDs isn’t a huge market force.
Ajami continues on in that vein for quite some time, but he never gets to the root of the matter, namely that in mosques and madrasas around the world Muslims are being taught the regressive, Sharia compliant, hardcore version of Islam, particularly within the Muslim nations. More and more are being indoctrinated into the culture of hate, if you will. Until Muslims stand up and say “hey, it’s time to get over the 13th century and reform,” things won’t change. In fact, they’ll continue to get worse.
Lastly, consider this article from the Onion (via The Lonely Conservative): a truly nasty graphic about religions other than Islam. Yet, still no violence resulting.

We already know about the protest in Sydney went: signs about beheading those who insult Islam showing up, held by a young child. Interesting, this also showed up in Sydney

Yeah, he has the “behead” sign. Notice the headband, though. And the flag behind him. And the headband on the guy to the left. Seem familiar?
Let’s head to Belgium (sorry about the Press TV link, being owned by the Iranian government. Only source with a photo)
Nearly 120 people have been arrested in the Belgian city of Antwerp after clashes broke out between the police and protesters demonstrating against an anti-Islamic film made in the United States.
On Saturday, protesters in Antwerp were chanting slogans against the United States and burned a US flag before the clashes broke out.
Hey, what’s this?

Interesting. Not too surprised by the Palestinian Keffiyeh showing up, but, check the flag in the background.
In the top picture, that is the flag of al Qaeda in Iraq. The other flags are and headbands in both pictures are similar to those flown and worn by al Qaeda, proclaiming “there is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is his prophet”. Isn’t it strange how this supposed “grassroots” and “spontaneous” demonstration, starting coincidentally on September 11th, sees so many carrying and wearing al Qaeda style (and specific al Qaeda) flags and headbands in Sydney and Antwerp? As well as throughout so many parts of the world where demonstrations were held? In Amsterdam it looks like they are hold a Taliban style banner (Taliban uses black letters on white background) Either this was planned, or there are a lot of Muslims who purchase al Qaeda style flags and headbands. Or both.
Meanwhile, Professor Glenn Reynolds says Obama should resign immediately for directly violating the Presidential Oath of Office.
