Univision To Broadcast Special Highlighting More Fast And Furious Deaths

If Operation Fast and Furious had occurred under President Bush, or any Republican president, it would be a major scandal. At least 2 American federal agents and hundreds of Mexican civilian deaths, at least 1,400 weapons still missing, and an administration that has stonewalled Congress and their oversight and investigation duties. Now comes this

(Daily Caller) Spanish-language television network Univision plans to air a television special that it said reveals more violence than previously known, as well as the stories of how many more Operation Fast and Furious victims were killed, the network announced in a Friday release.

“The consequences of the controversial ‘Fast and Furious’ undercover operation put in place by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in 2009 have been deadlier than what has been made public to date,” the network said. “The exclusive, in-depth investigation by Univision News’ award-winning Investigative Unit — Univision Investiga — has found that the guns that crossed the border as part of Operation Fast and Furious caused dozens of deaths inside Mexico.”

Among other groups of Fast and Furious victim stories Univision says it will tell in the special to air Sunday evening at 7 p.m., is one about how “16 young people attending a party in a residential area of Ciudad Juárez in January of 2010″ were gunned down with weapons the Obama administration gave to drug cartel criminals through Fast and Furious.

“Univision News’ Investigative Unit was also able to identify additional guns that escaped the control of ATF agents and were used in different types of crimes throughout Mexico,” the network added. “Furthermore, some of these guns — none of which were reported by congressional investigators — were put in the hands of drug traffickers in Honduras, Puerto Rico, and Colombia. A person familiar with the recent congressional hearings called Univision’s findings ‘the holy grail’ that Congress had been searching for.”

There’s a saying in Washington: “It’s not the crime, it’s the coverup.” F&F was a monumentally stupid program, taking the stupidity of previous gun walking programs and magnifying them by walking five times the guns, failing to inform the government of Mexico, failing to track the vast majority of guns, arresting no one, failing to shut the program down after the death of a federal agent (Brian Terry), then going into CYA mode instead of being forthright and honest.

Sharyl Attkinson reports at CBS News that Congress plans on subpoenaing Kevin O’Reilly, a key figure in communications between the ATF and the White House National Security office, if he doesn’t voluntarily submit to being interviewed in the next 30 days. O’Reilly had been “suddenly transferred” to a position in Iraq, a position promised to someone else, when the investigation into F&F started.

US Embassy In Egypt Issues Terror Warning, Women Targeted

Nice to see how that “leading from behind” policy is working out

(Times Of Israel) The US Embassy in Cairo issued a terrorist threat warning on Friday for American citizens living in Egypt.

The diplomatic mission stated on its website that it has “credible information suggesting terrorist interest in targeting US female missionaries in Egypt.”

The embassy urged US citizens to “exercise vigilance, taking necessary precautions to maintain their personal security.” Americans in Egypt were also advised to maintain valid travel documents and to regularly monitor the US Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs website, which lists updated travel warnings and alerts.

So, the Islamists are deliberately targeting women, and not one US media outlet has bothered to mention this. They aren’t even mentioning the terror warning itself. Searching Google and Yahoo news, the NY Times, Washington Post, CBS, ABC, NBC news, MSNBC, CNN, and others, not one mention. Is it any wonder that Pat Caddell says that “the media have become the enemy of the American People”?

Islamists In Some Far Off Place To Protest Against First Amendment

The Salafists are still continuing with their anti-free speech kick, or, at least, removing free speech that criticizes Islam and Mohammed. Thankfully, this is in a far off place and would never happen in the USA

(Detroit News) Led by a newspaper publisher, Muslim activists will call for putting limits on American free speech at a Dearborn rally this evening. You can’t make this stuff up.

Nearly a decade after Dearborn’s streets celebrated America for bringing down Saddam Hussein and opening a door to democracy in the Mideast, the same city will be the epicenter today of calls to squelch free speech. Protesting the film, “Innocence of Muslims,” that has sparked protests in the Mideast, rally organizer Tarek Baydoun says that so-called blasphemy laws are necessary to prevent speech that hurts the “the religious feelings of Muslims.”

This assault on the First Amendment in the name of the prophet Mohammed is a sad day in America – and confirms fears that Muslim-American activists do not understand the fundamental separation of church and state in the American Constitution.

“There is a need for deterrent legal measures against those individuals or groups that want to damage relations between people, spread hate and incite violence,” said Arab-American News publisher Osama Siblani, a self-proclaimed “moderate” who is apparently oblivious to how gutting the First Amendment would affect his own business.

The actual protest featured a continuous stream of whining abut “Islamaphobia” while calling for restrictions on the 1st Amendment, much in the way Liberals do the same thing. It’s simply an attempt to shut down debate and put people on the defensive, rather than addressing the fundamental issues.

Also in that far off place of Dearbornistan

Hundreds of angry Muslims threw chunks of concrete and eggs at a team of Christians, spraying them with urine and cursing at them – all while police stood by and then threatened the victims with “disorderly conduct.”

Egypt? Saudi Arabia? Somalia?

No. Dearborn, Mich.

So now a team of attorneys from the American Freedom Law Center is going to court on behalf of the victims of the violent Muslim mob at the Arab International Festival last June, an attack that was captured on video.

Free speech for thee, but not for me.

Obama Weekly Address: Hey, My First Round Of Mortgage Modification Bills Worked So Well I’d Like Another…

…And those pesky Republicans are to blame for failing to bail out my failed policies

(WRAL) Citing historically low mortgages, President Barack Obama is pressing Republicans to back housing policies the White House says would help struggling homeowners refinance their debts and prevent foreclosures. (full transcript here)

Obama is blaming congressional Republicans for not passing legislation he proposed in February that would lower lending rates for millions of borrowers who have not been able to get out from under burdensome mortgages. Republicans have objected, citing among other things the estimated $5 billion to $10 billion cost of the proposal.

They already tried this with HARP and other measures, some included in the Stimulus. Apparently those measures failed since now Obama wants more. Either that or he’s just using this issue, and the official resources of the White House, for campaign fodder

“Now, there are some who think that the only option for homeowners is to just stand by and hope that the market has hit bottom. I don’t agree with that.”

So, he took a dig at Congressional Republicans and Mitt Romney while using the resources of the White House. He campaigns enough without turning the resources owned by The People into Obama 2012 material, too

Congress has recessed and is not scheduled to return until after the November elections.

“Instead of worrying about you, they’d already gone home to worry about their campaigns,” the president said.

Now that was some serious chutzpah from an elected official who has spent most of his time since inaugurated campaigning, and has recently blown off meeting with world leaders, including Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu, in order to go on The View.

Of course, this same legislation would cost the taxpayers a boatload of money, since it will primarily be run through Freddy and Fannie, putting taxpayers on the hook for loan defaults. And the Democrat led Senate is taking their sweet time dealing with the legislation themselves. Weird that Obama failed to mention that.

Surprise! Race Card Played In North Carolina Governors Race

I’m sure you’re utterly surprised that the Democrat played it

(WRAL) Republican Pat McCrory blasted Democratic gubernatorial rival Walter Dalton on Thursday for releasing a video in which elected leaders and others accused the former Charlotte mayor of being insensitive to black residents on issues such as voter ID and education.

The video, released as part of an effort to bolster the lieutenant governor’s support among black elected officials and other activists, is the latest effort this week by Dalton and his allies attempting to raise questions about McCrory on race.

“Walter Dalton should be shameful for approving such an ad, and it shows desperation,” McCrory said in an interview with The Associated Press, adding that “it takes North Carolina politics to a new low.”

It used to be that playing the race card was the “last refuge of a scoundrel”. Nowadays, it’s on page 1 of the Democrat playbook.

While Democrats have said the photo ID would discourage older adults, minorities and the poor from voting, McCrory said it’s a reasonable requirement to validate someone’s identity before casting a ballot.

“Those same people approved legislation which requires ID to get Sudafed,” McCrory said, referring to a 2006 law requiring purchasers of pills containing pseudoephedrine and ephedrine to show a photo ID and sign a log.

I don’t remember anyone complaining that the law would adversely affect minorities and old people when it passed and went into effect.

Sharia Law Today: Hundreds Of Women Stuck At Saudi Airport

(Times Online) More than 1,000 Nigerian women pilgrims remained stranded at a Saudi airport for a fifth straight day Thursday after being denied entry into the kingdom because they were not accompanied by men, an airport official confirmed.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official said the women have been denied entry because “they are not accompanied by a mahram (the statutory male companion),” adding that talks were continuing between Saudi and Nigerian officials.

That’s the kind of treatment women can expect under Sharia Law. Liberal deflection and rationalizing in 3….2….1….

Warmists Starting The “Climate Criminals Project”

A lunatic at AmericaBlog (the same blog, but different lunatic, recently seen making wild and inaccurate claims about John Hawkins) has come up with a wild new idea

This falls under the heading of “wouldn’t it be nice.” I think the proposal below, if executed, would add considerable muscle to the existing (and frustrated) climate crisis movement.

I’m calling this proposal the “Climate Criminals” project — a label for the five-pronged approach to a climate solution that I’ve been writing about — for example here:

Solving the climate crisis — Goals, targets and tactics (a summary)

I won’t detail the project’s tactics yet — this piece is already long enough — but I do want to identify the targets of those tactics, show how those targets would be approached, and set up the next few posts in this series.

As far as those tactics go, you know what the lunatic, Gaius Publius, says doesn’t work?

Personal behavior change — individual action — is not enough. That discussion is here. The bottom line, even if you went totally green, you’d have to get power from somewhere. And that “somewhere” is under political control, not personal control. Behavior change is critical, but not enough.

Of course not. Warmists practicing what they preach is never the solution for Warmists. Why? Because it’s hard to live the CO2 neutral lifestyle and give up all modern trappings.

The problem — Humans continue to put carbon into the air. What’s already there is too much.

Alas, Warmists cannot even put it in scientific terms at the most basic talking points. It’s Carbon Dioxide. Carbon is something different. In fact, our bodies are carbon based. Life on earth is carbon based.

The solution — Put the carbon industry out of business. Completely.

So, put all life on earth out of business? Yes, yes, the lunatic is writing in Warmist, and is really discussing CO2. If you want to put the CO2 business out of business, well, that means living like it’s the middle ages or earlier.

The Climate Criminals five-pronged approach is a plan for a cadre-led movement to:

  • Target the perps, the “carbon criminals”
  • Catalyze leadership among on-the-fence politicians and media
  • Unconfuse the people about global warming consequences

In others, fascism, stalking, harassment, violations of Constitutional rights, and….hey, wasn’t Sarah Palin demonized over her “targeting?” Will the lunatic take responsibility when “carbon criminals” are assaulted?

Mohammed Video Creator Arrested, Ordered Held Without Bond

Hmm, are the jack-booted thugs coming to take those who insult Islam away?

(The Smoking Gun) The producer of the controversial anti-Islam film “Innocence of Muslims” has been arrested for violating terms of his probation and is set for an appearance today in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, is scheduled for an initial appearance in the courthouse where Judge Christina Snyder sentenced him in June 2010 following a bank fraud conviction.

[UPDATE: Citing Nakoula’s “lengthy pattern of deception,” a federal magistrate this afternoon ordered him held without bond for alleged probation violations, including making false statements to his probation officer and using aliases. The judge rejected a plea from Nakoula’s lawyer, who argued that the convicted felon’s life would be in danger at an L.A. lockup due to the facility’s large population of Muslim inmates. Nakoula will remain in custody in advance of a probation revocation hearing, the date for which has yet to be scheduled.]

Lest you think it over the top for federal agents to arrest him and see him appear in federal court, many of his original charges were federal ones.

Investigators have not yet provided details about how Nakoula allegedly violated probation, but it seems clear that his involvement in the “Innocence of Muslim” production is central to the government’s new charge.

Included in his probation terms were prohibitions on his use of the Internet, unless he secured prior approval from his probation officer. Additionally, he was not to “use, for any purpose or in any manner, any name other than his/her true legal name or names without the prior written approval of the Probation Officer.”

From Allahpundit: “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam. And if we occasionally have to haul a guy in on a probation violation to ensure that the future doesn’t belong to him, hey.”

There was quite a bit of outrage on Twitter over this yesterday, and……I’m not going to take part in that. Certainly, the film played 100% of a role in Nakoula being arrested. You have Obama, Hillary Clinton, Susan Rice, Boy Wonder Jay Carney, and other administration officials criticizing the film, but, it appears that by making the film and disseminating it on the Internet while using multiple aliases Nakoula broke the terms of his probation. He’s not exactly an upstanding, law abiding guy.

It may seem that the jack-booted thugs are coming for him to stop his freedom of speech which was highly critical of Mohammed, but the only person to blame is Nakoula himself for breaking the terms of his probation.
