Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

The posts do take a long time, so, if you want to send me your links for Rule 5 babeage or links, use ye olde email in the header bar (remove the NOSPAM part). Preferably, create the html link so I can copy and paste how you want it to read.

Admin. Which Ran Guns Into Mexico Looks At Broad Gun Control Agenda

Of course, as usual, Obama is leading from behind, seeing as how Democrats have already introduced 8 pieces of legislation in the House and Senator Feinstein (D-has gun herself) plans to introduce a big one in the Senate

(Washington Post) The White House is weighing a far broader and more comprehensive approach to curbing the nation’s gun violence than simply reinstating an expired ban on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition, according to multiple people involved in the administration’s discussions.

A working group led by Vice President Biden is seriously considering measures backed by key law enforcement leaders that would require universal background checks for firearm buyers, track the movement and sale of weapons through a national database, strengthen mental health checks, and stiffen penalties for carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors, the sources said.

Hmm. It’s already illegal to carry a gun within 1000 feet of a school. I bet people intent on mass murder/suicide will pay attention to stiffening fines. But, I really like the part about tracking the movement of weapons, something the agencies under Obama failed to do when it comes to Operation Fast and Furious.

To sell such changes, the White House is developing strategies to work around the National Rifle Association that one source said could include rallying support from Wal-Mart and other gun retailers for measures that would benefit their businesses. White House aides have also been in regular contact with advisers to New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (I), an outspoken gun-control advocate who could emerge as a powerful surrogate for the Obama administration’s agenda.

The way I read that, having watched Obama operate since he started running for President, and having read his history, is that he plans on attempting to intimidate and bully gun retailers heavily. That’s his modus operandi.

Stanek said the meeting also included significant discussion of mental-health issues, violence in video games and movies, and the poor quality of information contained in databases used to conduct criminal background checks before issuing gun permits.

Don’t expect to hear a thing about the games and movies, the makers tend to donate a lot of money to Democrats. As for the info in databases, I wonder if we can expect The Government to collect even more information on law abiding citizens?

I suggest that we designate all federal buildings, including the White House and Congressional buildings, as gun free zones, whereby no one may carry a weapon, including law enforcement and security, except when responding to an emergency. If Democrats want to disarm the public, then elected Democrats should be disarmed.

Fish Wrap: More Guns Equals More Killing

Today’s freakout anti-gun screed from the NY Times

Indeed, the N.R.A.’s solution to the expansion of gun violence in America has been generally to advocate for the more widespread deployment and carrying of guns.

I recently visited some Latin American countries that mesh with the N.R.A.’s vision of the promised land, where guards with guns grace every office lobby, storefront, A.T.M., restaurant and gas station. It has not made those countries safer or saner.

Despite the ubiquitous presence of “good guys” with guns, countries like Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Colombia and Venezuela have some of the highest homicide rates in the world.

How super awesome that the examples used are third word shitholes developing nations which have been going through war, armed strife, revolutions, load with gangs and drug lords, etc, for decades. I guess the Elizabeth Rosenthal fails to notice those conditions, and that being armed also saves lives.

But, hey, I’m wondering if Elizabeth will advocate for the Tines to get rid of their own armed guards?

Warmist: It’s Difficult To Prove Extreme Weather From Climate Change, I’ll Still Do It

They really can’t help themselves. Here we have Jonathan Allen: Opinion: Climate change, Earth’s warming air make hurricanes more violent

Following Hurricane Sandy, The Times published several articles and op-eds suggesting that the storm and other extreme weather events are likely due to climate change. The most recent was by fellow physicist Rep. Rush Holt (“A new normal: Plan wisely against tempests to come,” Dec. 20). In it, he warned of more such onslaughts in the future.

While it would be difficult to prove that any specific weather event was irrefutably due to climate change, the extraordinary rise in extreme weather events is very difficult to explain without invoking the increased atmospheric heating, as a near-doubling of carbon dioxide enhances the Earth’s greenhouse effect.

So, he can’t prove it, but, he’ll still blame mankind. Strangely, Jonathan fails to tell us how he’s given up his fossil fueled lifestyle and gone “carbon neutral”. Furthermore, as I write again and again, if one is using the phrase “climate change”, they aren’t interested in science but in politics.

But, there is no “rise in extreme weather events.” There’s simply the weather. Some years will be worse then others for certain factors. And, with the rise of satellites, the spread of cameras, radar, the Internet, people, weather events will be more noticeable than 100 years ago. Just 50 years ago there were much fewer hurricanes named because they weren’t getting near land, and the only way to know would have been if a ship passed near or through one. Some years will have bad tornado outbreaks, some won’t. There is always something going on with the weather.

Fortunately the article provides a handy dandy visual of what world killing CO2 looks like

So, now water vapor is considered CO2 “smoke”.

Democrats Drop Eight Anti-Gun People Control Bills On First Day

And most look oh-so-reasonable

(The Hill) Members of the 113th Congress introduced 10 bills on Thursday relating to gun violence, most of which came from Democrats seeking new restrictions on gun ownership.

The flurry of legislative proposals show that members are likely to push the issue in the wake of the December shooting at a Connecticut elementary school that left 20 children dead.

Carolyn McCarthy, an anti-gun zealot, introduced 4

H.R. 137 and 138 from McCarthy would require people prohibited from buying firearms to be listed in a national database, and would prohibit the transfer or possession of large capacity ammunition clips.

McCarthy’s H.R. 141 would require criminal background checks on all firearms transactions at gun shows, which would close the so-called gun-show loophole. Her H.R. 142 would require face-to-face purchases of ammunition, the licensing of ammunition dealers, and the reporting of bulk ammo purchases.

Sounds reasonable. I really do not have a problem with this legislation. Of course, the vast majority of ammo dealers require that people who place orders pick up said orders at licensed firearms stores, just like with gun orders. And the proof is in the details of what the legislation says, and none of them are available to read as of yet on Thomas or at her webpage.

Bobby Rush, Rush Holt, Jim Moran, and Sheila Jackson Lee also submitted legislation. Lee’s would raise the eligibility age to carry a handgun from 18-21. I’m sure the young criminals who break the law regarding murder in Chicago will quickly ignore her.

Two freshman Republicans introduced contrary bills that would end federal law requiring that areas around schools be designated as “gun free zones.” These bills, H.R. 35 from Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) and H.R. 133 from Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), are a response to findings that violence in and around schools has increased since the gun free zone law took effect in 1990.

I think some Republican should introduce legislation to disarm all federal agents that guard Democrats, since Dems are so anti-gun. Also, legislation that creates a gun free zone around all Democrat offices. Bet they wouldn’t like that!

CAIR Campaign Attempts To Mislead About Meaning Of Jihad

Back on December 14th I noted that Hamas linked CAIR was launching a program in Chicago designed to mislead people on what jihad means, with this wonderful quote

In contrast, Rehab’s “MyJihad” public-relations campaign portrays jihad as “a concerted and noble effort against injustice, hate, misunderstanding, war, violence, poverty, hunger, abuse or whatever challenge big or small we face in daily life, with the purpose of getting to a better place,” according to the campaign’s website, MyJihad.org.

Funny stuff, where “getting to a better place” seems to involve homicide bombs. Now they’re trying the same in San Francisco, which has long been a hotbed of Islamist support

(ABC San Fran) Buses in San Francisco are carrying messages of jihad, but it’s not what you might think. It’s a campaign to educate residents about the real meaning of the word. It’s a campaign that began in Chicago and has now reached the Bay Area.

One statement on the side of a Muni bus reads: “My jihad is to stay fit despite my busy schedule. What’s yours?”

It’s part of an educational campaign created by CAIR — the Council on American-Islamic Relations. The group has put 35 ads on buses rolling through the streets of San Francisco.

“The intention of the campaign is to educate our fellow Americans about what the word jihad means,” said Zahra Billoo, the executive director of the Bay Area office for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. She said, “A common misconception of the word jihad is that it means armed struggle or holy war and that is something that has been perpetrated by many who’ve made careers out of pushing anti-Muslim sentiment.”

Got that? It’s the fault of people who’ve noticed that Islamists go on jihads to kill each other and non-believers, blow up buildings, kill women and children, behead people, and so on, that the word “jihad” is a dirty one.

This is all part of the on-going and long term program from Hamas linked CAIR to paint the hardcore Islamists as little darlings. And, while Jihad Watch points out that “jihad” does have many, many meanings, not all of them involving violence, it’s primary meaning is violence.

Jihad in Arabic does indeed mean “struggle,” and the Arabic word carries as many connotations as the English one. One may struggle to lose weight or to exercise regularly, and the same word is used for great struggles, such as those against Nazism and Communism. The Islamic Republic of Iran has a Department of Agricultural Jihad, which has nothing to do with blowing up farm implements, but merely concerns itself with the struggle to increase crop yields.

However, the principal meaning of jihad throughout Islamic history and in Islamic law is armed struggle against unbelievers to subjugate them as inferiors under the rule of Sharia. The four schools of Sunni Muslim jurisprudence are clear about jihad:

I think we cal also add in “unarmed struggle”, since much of what the Muslim Brotherhood and groups like CAIR are attempting to do is slowly and peacefully integrate hardcore Islamist values into the society, government, courts, and legislation in countries around the world, with the intention of creating a subjugated population ripe for switchover to a Sharia complaint country.

Federal Judge Says EPA Overstepped Legal Authority On Water

Well, hey, the EPA already thinks that CO2, a trace gas necessary for life is a pollutant, why not deem water a pollutant?

(Fox News) Virginia officials scored a key victory Thursday in their battle with the Environmental Protection Agency over what EPA critics describe as a land takeover.

U.S. District Judge Liam O’Grady in Alexandria ruled late Thursday that the EPA exceeded its authority by attempting to regulate stormwater runoff into a Fairfax County creek as a pollutant. O’Grady sided with the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, which challenged EPA’s stormwater restrictions

“Stormwater runoff is not a pollutant, so EPA is not authorized to regulate it,” O’Grady said.

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli says the ruling could ultimately save Virginia taxpayers more than $300 million.

The lunatics at the EPA had deemed, and argued in court, that water was a pollutant if there was “too much of it”. Seriously. And that all this water was daring to *gasp* change the landscape of creeks and rivers, because before it rained creeks and rivers never ever changed. And this could have caused home and business owners their property, or at least seen it heavily regulated.
