“Bronco Bama, Please Save Us From Hotcoldwetdry!”

Today’s example of an unhinged ObamaZombie, here’s Philly.com’s Michael Yudell

Mr. President, use your bully pulpit on climate change!

“We will respond to the threat of climate change knowing that the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations,” an emboldened President Obama declared in his inaugural address Monday. Following the disconcerting absence of climate change from campaign 2012 and limited climate policy action during his first term, the president has finally told us that not only will he act, but that we (and he) have an obligation to do so. What could be more important, after all, than acting on behalf of our children and future generations?

What could be more important? Well, how about putting the country on a sound financial footing, so there is a country for our children and future generations? How about asking Obama to reduce his own “carbon footprint”?

Michael then treats us to a number of measures that Obama can take to destroy the coal industry, raise CAFE standards, and regulate through the EPA, thereby increasing the cost of living for Americans, though he doesn’t quite put it that way.

Meanwhile, the forecast is for 24 degrees in Philly today. And for 20’s to low 40’s over the next ten days. Oh, yeah, I forgot, cold weather is caused by greenhouse gases.

Perhaps, then, the president’s most important job between now and the 2014 mid-term elections is to raise that number — to foster a movement that will chase the climate change deniers from office. There is one important and thus far underused tool in the president’s arsenal that can help move the public on this urgent matter: the bully pulpit.

At his inauguration, Obama seemed keenly aware of this power. His desire to be remembered as a transformational president will be for naught if he is first remembered as the leader who had the last great chance to do something meaningful about climate change and failed.

Yeah, let’s not forget about all the “green” energy companies which failed while taking taxpayer money. And still there are no Warmists, including Obama, who practice what they preach.

Turkish Muslim Group Accuses Lego Of Raaaaacism

It’s been awhile, but they finally found something to be outraged about. What is it? This

(Telegraph) Austria’s Turkish community said the model was based on Hagia Sophia mosque in Istanbul and that the accompanying figures depicted Asians and Orientals as people with “deceitful and criminal personalities.”

The Turkish Cultural Community of Austria released a statement calling for Lego to apologise for affronting religious and cultural feelings.

The anger was provoked by “Jabba’s Palace”, a model of the home of Jabba the Hutt from Lego’s Star Wars product range based on the blockbusting series of science fiction films.

Jabba’s domed home and accompanying watchtower bear, according to the statement, an unwanted resemblance to Istanbul’s great Hagia Sophia, and another mosque in Beirut.

Good grief. Get over it. They won’t

As an indication of the anger felt over Jabba’s Palace, the organisation said it was considering taking legal action against Lego for inciting racial hatred and insulting human dignity.

I wonder if Lego can sue the organization for stupidity and being annoying?

Jammie Wearing Fools wonders when the riots will begin.

Feinstein To Introduce Evil Looking Gun Bill Today

Which will go nowhere, but, will give the anti-gunnites a chance to bloviate

(USA Today) California Democrat Dianne Feinstein will begin her fourth full term as a U.S. senator much as she started her Senate career: fighting for a ban on assault weapons.

Feinstein’s new bill, which will be introduced Thursday in the Senate, among other things proposes to:

  • Ban the sale, transfer, importation or manufacturing of about 150 named firearms, plus certain rifles, handguns and shotguns fitted for detachable magazines and having at least one military characteristic.
  • Strengthen the 1994 ban by moving from a two- to a one-characteristic test to determine what constitutes an assault weapon.
  • Ban firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons.”
  • Ban the importation of assault weapons and large-capacity magazines.
  • Ban high-capacity ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

The bill would grandfather in weapons legally owned on the day of enactment and exempts over 900 specific weapons “used for hunting or sporting purposes.”

We’ve discussed this previously, and what DiFi’s bill would do would be to outlaw virtually every mean looking gun with a pistol grip, most which are used for “hunting or sporting purposes”, but will leave the exact same weapons, sans pistol grip, legal.

“I became mayor as a product of assassination,” she told USA TODAY.

While county supervisor and mayor, Feinstein said, she saw “up-close and personal the death and destruction that these guns carry with them.”

“I have watched these incidents from 1966, which was the first one, the Texas bell tower, and watched it go through school after school, business after business, law firm after law firm,” she said. In 1966, former Marine Charles Whitman killed 14 people and wounded 32 others while shooting from atop the tower on the University of Texas campus in Austin.

But it was a mass shooting at a law firm in a San Francisco high-rise in 1993 that began her long push against the availability of assault weapons; the first version became law in 1994 and expired in 2004.

I have news for you, DiFi: Whitman used guns that would be exempt from your ban. Regarding the assassination of Harvey Milk which let you become mayor, Dan White used a .38 caliber revolver and brought 10 extra rounds. Your legislation would make no difference. As for the 1993 shooting, Gian Luigi Ferri was clearly nuts. But, facts are not necessary when a Democrat is trying to make an end run around the 2nd Amendment and disarm the public.

Some See Nanny Bloomberg’s Soda Ban As Racist

It seems that another group thinks the big sugary drinks regulation is a Bad Idea

(WRAL)  Opponents of the city’s limit on the size of sugary drinks are raising questions of racial fairness alongside other complaints as the novel restriction faces a court test.

The NAACP’s New York state branch and the Hispanic Federation have joined beverage makers and sellers in trying to stop the rule from taking effect March 12. With a hearing set Wednesday, critics are attacking what they call an inconsistent and undemocratic regulation, while city officials and health experts defend it as a pioneering and proper move to fight obesity.

The issue is complex for the minority advocates, especially given obesity rates that are higher than average among blacks and Hispanics, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control. The groups say in court papers they’re concerned about the discrepancy, but the soda rule will unduly harm minority businesses and “freedom of choice in low-income communities.”

Nope, sorry, these groups tend to vote overwhelmingly for Democrats, like Bloomberg and Obama, who push these types of Big Government Nanny State policies. Now they can suffer the consequences of that support. Elections have consequences.

Surprise! Mafia Heavily Involved With “Green” Energy In Italy

Would anyone be surprised if this was happening all over, at least in terms of organized criminal syndicates?

(Washington Post)  Inside a midnight-blue BMW, a Sicilian entrepreneur delivered his pitch to the accused mafia boss. A new business was blowing into Italy that could spin wind and sunlight into gold, ensuring the future of the Earth as well as the Cosa Nostra: renewable energy.

“Uncle Vincenzo,” implored the businessman, Angelo Salvatore, using a term of affection for the alleged head of Sicily’s Gimbellina crime family, 79-year-old Vincenzo Funari. According to a transcript of their wiretapped conversation, Salvatore continued, “for the love of our sons, renewable energy is important. . . . it’s a business we can live on.”

And for quite awhile, Italian prosecutors say, they did. In an unfolding plot that is part “The Sopranos,” part “An Inconvenient Truth,” authorities swept across Sicily last month in the latest wave of sting operations revealing years of deep infiltration into the renewable energy sector by Italy’s rapidly modernizing crime families.

Shockingly, much of this revolves around the massive taxpayer funded subsidies readily available and ripe for fraud. And a good way for organized crime to launder their money, BTW.

American Optimism Lowest Since 1979

Surprise!

(CBS DC) Fewer than four-in-10 Americans (39 percent) rate the US in a positive manner – the most negative feedback the country has produced since 1979.

A new Gallup poll finds that Americans are as negative about the country’s prospects as they have been in more than three decades. Americans are more upbeat in their predictions of where the U.S. will be in five years (48 percent positive), but this is the lowest rating since an August 1979 Gallup poll was conducted.

The negativity about the current state of the US has a politically partisan split – Republicans stated that the country’s best days have already passed and Democrats say the best days have not happened yet. Seventy-five percent of Democrats gave positive reviews of how the nation will be five years from now, but only 15 percent of Republicans were positive – a 60 percent partisan gap.

Independents break 48% for 5 years from now, and 39% now.

Democrats are apparently enthused that 5 years from now they’ll still be unemployed and living off the government teet, as the economy stagnates much like Europe and America’s debt is in the $20 trillion range.
