Christian Groups Still Flocking To NJ To Help Post Superstorm Sandy

(NJ.com) “It can get pretty emotional,” said Hudgins, 43. “We just want people to know that we love them and didn’t forget about them.”

Hudgins arrived in the Garden State last week as part of an army of out-of-state volunteers who are being dispatched to New Jersey this summer by Mission Discovery, a Christian organization that organizes relief missions for children and adults.

And what they’re finding is that Sandy’s destruction goes beyond the images of homes chewed up by storm surges. Sandy’s devastation, they said, can also be found in once-flooded basements that still have not been cleaned and in homeowners who are struggling to move on.

“It’s not just the physical destruction – it’s the emotional destruction,” said 18-year-old Tommy Treser, who just graduated high school. “That’s what surprised me.”

They are trying to focus on the emotional fallout, along with the physical fallout, of Superstorm Sandy. Kudos to Mission Discovery.

Street Light Melts In Kuwait, Warmists Blame “Climate Change”

You know it’s hot outside when the traffic lights are melting

WIth temperatures hovering around 110 degrees in Kuwait right now, it shouldn’t be too surprising to see something like a melted traffic light. What’s even crazier? It’s hotter than that in Phoenix right now.

Redditor Mohayat lives in Kuwait and snapped this amazing photograph of a traffic light literally melting under the hot summer sun.

Dooooooom…….wait, what? The average temperature for Kuwait City is in the 110-113 range for this time of year? Well, spank my bottom and call me Sally. Who could have easily found information like that? Oh, but it gets better, much, much better

Obama Calls For “Calm” In Egypt While Offering Toast To Tanzanian Dictator

(Daily Caller) President Barack Obama toasted the founding dictator of post-colonial Tanzania on Monday, who collectivized the nation’s low-tech agricultural sector, established a one-party state and left that African nation’s economy in ruins.

“[Y]ou might say an American child is my child. We might say a Tanzanian child is my child,” Obama said after quoting the Tanzanian saying “my neighbor’s child is my child.”

“In this way, both of our nations will be looking after all of our children and we’ll be living out the vision of President [Julius] Nyerere,” Obama continued.

Obama offered this toast while in Tanzania, praising a far far left socialist dictator. Nyerere is an interesting choice for a toast, wouldn’t you say?

In Egypt, Obama has backed an Islamist authoritarian government over the previous semi-dictator, Hosni Mubarak

(Politico) President Barack Obama insisted Monday that he isn’t taking sides in the standoff between Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and millions of protesters who’ve taken to the streets to protest his policies.

But that’s not likely to be enough for many in those angry crowds, who seem firmly convinced that the White House has bolstered the Muslim Brotherhood leader, even as ordinary Egyptians — and some in his own Cabinet — have grown increasingly dissatisfied with his rule.

As the Egyptian military issued what appeared to be an ultimatum Monday for Morsi and the opposition to sort out their differences within 48 hours, Obama found himself in a painfully familiar place — facing questions about whether the United States had, once again, invested too much in a helpful but flawed Middle Eastern leader, while paying insufficient attention to burgeoning popular discontent.

Obama sure took sides previously. But now he seems to prefer Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood. As far as whether the US had invested too much, um, no, this was Obama and his administration on their own. Obama seems to prefer dictators and Islamists. Remember, Obama gave $1.5 billion to the Morsi regime, and was offering tanks and military jets.

Man With 41,000 Metric Ton Carbon Footprint Doesn’t Want Africans To Have AC And Big Houses

(CNS News) President Barack Obama said at a town hall event in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Saturday that unless we find new way of producing energy “the planet will boil over” if people in Africa are allowed to attain air conditioning, automobiles and big houses.

“Ultimately, if you think about all the youth that everybody has mentioned here in Africa, if everybody is raising living standards to the point where everybody has got a car and everybody has got air conditioning, and everybody has got a big house, well, the planet will boil over — unless we find new ways of producing energy.”

Let’s consider: Obama has a carbon footprint of, conservatively, at least 41,000 metric tons. His little trip to Africa will at least several hundred tons of CO2. The average emissions per capita for South Africa is roughly 10 metric tons. The average world CFP is around 4 tons. For continental Africa, the average is around 2 tons. The continent has roughly 14% of the worlds’ population but only 3.6% of the emissions. Most live in what 1st worlders would consider abject poverty, meaning they don’t have government paid for housing with government paid for TVs, fridges, and air conditioning. Instead, they often live in huts and hovels with unsanitary conditions

According to UNESCO, unsanitized water causes billions of preventable diseases annually, from diarrhea (4 billion), cholera (120,000), malaria (300-500 million), intestinal parasites (25% of world’s population), typhoid (12 million), trachoma (6 million), and schistosomiesis (200 million). list from highest to least affected

The president gave short shrift to these more traditional health concerns during his visit to the continent.  Instead, Obama implied several times that the U.S. would only encourage growth in Africa should it be grounded in “clean energy strategies” and not in “corrupting” energy economies that gave rise to unprecedented levels of health and prosperity among Western nations.

Warmists have been railing against those in the 3rd world using air conditioners for years now, as the practice grows. Yet, Warmists in the 1st World refuse to give up their own AC.

Bummer: NC Illegals Leery Of Amnesty Bill

I know you’re all broken up about that

(WRAL) As the debate over immigration reform shifted to the U.S. House on Friday, some in the country illegally said they don’t like the legislation approved by the Senate but aren’t hopeful for anything better.

My first thought is “who cares what they think? They aren’t in the country legally, and they have no say in how we run our country”. That was my second thought, and my third thought involved some naughty words.

“I don’t even see this as an immigration reform bill. I see this as a national security bill,” Viridiana Martinez said.

Martinez, 26, is among an estimated 325,000 North Carolina residents who are in the country illegally. She said waiting a decade for citizenship is too long.

Tough (insert naught word here). Then leave. Go back to your home country and go the legal route, which takes a long time and costs quite a bit of money.

“There’s a lot of people in deportation proceedings right now,” she said. “You have a lot of people who have been deported already, so what’s going to happen to them and to reunite the families of those that are still here?”

Well, they can go back to their home countries.

Jose Rico’s family came to the U.S. legally 10 years ago when he was 13, but they remained in the country after their visas expired. (snip)

“I’m willing to take the bill because I want my mom to have her papers one day,” he said. “I’ll take it, but ultimately, I don’t like it.”

How charitable of you. And people wonder why Conservatives are anti-illegals. One of the reasons has to do with the attitude of people who are here illegally, including the one where they think they’re simply entitled.

When Will America Get Tired Of Obama’s Constant Lies?

At what point is this country going to have had enough of this  shameless,  inveterate liar? He had to lie continually in 2008 in order to get elected, and he’s been a non stop geyser gushing lies, ever since.

Geoffrey L. Hunter of the American Thinker, wrote, “Lying has many shades; Obama has perfected the bald-faced type, the most jarring, with a repetition that files down the senses, grinds away at outrage.”

Obama is an incontinent bladder of lies, deceptions, and red herrings gushing virtually non-stop whether in press conferences, campaign speeches, the State of the Union addresses, or remarks to foreign dignitaries.

Deb goes through a long list of lies from Obama just from the past 2 years. It would be tough to go back through all his lies. Remember the email that went around in 2008 about his top 50 lies (they weren’t all lies, some were simply exaggerations)? Remember the lie about Selma? Here are 21 more. And Glenn Beck on Obama’s lies. His top 60 lies and broken promises. A list of Obamacare lies. A documented list of 75 lies. The links go on and on.

Now, even Obama’s most faithful drones can’t help but notice the guy tells about 5 whoppers a day, but they’ll defend him to the bitter end. All politicians lie, right?  They’re happy to embrace  Obama’s culture of deceit as long as it leads us ever closer to the final transformation they dream about – the Utopia  that is in reality a dystopia,  but the drones will be the last ones to figure it out. The rest of us, are being dragged kicking and screaming into this dark radical Islam friendly, virulently anti-Christian, collectivist,  totalitarian hell-state Obama seems to want to take us.

Leftists do not care. Nor does the media, tasked by the 1st Amendment with keeping government honest. Or at least exposing it. Now they are simply the media arm of the Democrat Party.

Good Grief: Late 20th Century El Nino Now Blamed On “Climate Change”

Sad when we have to start the post with a facepalm, rather than ending with one

(Bloomberg) The El Nino weather pattern that can bring drought to Australia and rain to South America was “unusually active” at the end of the 20th century, possibly due to climate change, a University of Hawaii study found.

Researchers studied 2,222 tree-ring records as proxies for temperature and rainfall over the past 700 years, the university wrote in an online statement dated yesterday. The records indicate the El Nino-Southern Oscillation weather phenomenon has been increasingly active in recent decades relative to the past seven centuries.

The study found that in the year after a large tropical volcanic eruption, the east-central tropical Pacific is “unusually cool,” followed by warming a year later, the university wrote. Volcanic aerosols, like greenhouse gases, disturb the Earth’s radiation balance, it said.

“This supports the idea that the unusually high ENSO activity in the late 20th century is a footprint of global warming,” study lead author Jinbao Li was cited as saying.

Wait, is this saying that it is all natural, or that it is man-induced? When the phrase “climate change” is thrown around in the media it is mostly or solely meant to portray it as mad-caused. Having read this kind of slop for decades, I’m going to go with the notion that they mean it is your fault, dear reader, for taking fossil fueled travel, using more than 2 TP sheets, taking showers longer than 2 minutes, and using hair spray. Those are just a few examples of your evil lifestyle which causes Bad Weather, islands to tip over, and Gaia to sweat.

The El Nino/La Nina pattern is nothing new: studies have delved back through reconstructions over the past 1,100 years, but no one really knows how old the pattern is. Some say they started around 10,000 years ago, as the main effects of the last glacial age ended. But, we do not know. On average, there is one every 3-7 years. Usually. Not always. There is a longer term pattern of activity lasting 50-90 years. Some are big, some aren’t.

But now the Warmists have to blame them on “climate change”, when in fact they are part of the natural cycle, and seem to be more active within the natural warm cycles that have been occurring since the end of the last ice age. They tend to jibe with many of the warmest years (such as 2010!). Warmists just can’t help themselves.

Rubio’s Political Future Tied To Success Of Amnesty Bill

In a long article, the Washington Times discusses how Marco Rubio’s future is tied to the success of the amnesty bill, having been the face of this malarkey

Sen. Marco Rubio was the glue that held together the immigration deal in the Senate, helping set the stage for adding tens of thousands of Border Patrol agents to the final deal — but failing to win many of the changes the Florida Republican himself said he needed to see.

The 68-32 vote last week in favor of the bill was a milestone for the Senate and for the immigration debate, but it was even more important for the first-term senator whose political future is inextricably linked with the landmark legislation he helped write and pass.

“I think the debate has been hard for Marco. It’s been a physical strain, an emotional strain, a political strain. Without a doubt, this has not been peaches and cream for Marco,” said Ana Navarro, a Republican Party strategist from Florida and a Rubio ally.

“But I actually think his political stock has gone way up in the sense that he’s achieved something — he’s gotten a major legislative accomplishment under his belt and he’s made a difference in this debate,” she said. “So you now can’t say he’s the Republican Barack Obama — a first-term senator who made great speeches. This guy now can say he was a crucial part of getting a very controversial piece of bipartisan legislation through.”

This is where the huge breakdown between GOP insiders and the people who actually vote Republican, especially Conservatives, occurs. This bill is about as popular with Republican voters as a turd is in a punch bowl at a wedding. If the amnesty bill passes the House and is signed into law, Rubio loses. If the bill fails the House, Rubio loses. And what was so hard for Marco? All the distortions, misrepresentations, and out-right lies? Or was it the pretending to be a Republican while pushing a bill that’s really popular with Democrats and helps out the fortunes of Democrats?

Responding to his critics, Mr. Rubio delivered a broad floor speech Wednesday saying he got involved in writing the bill because it otherwise wouldn’t have any provisions for border security. He also said the final deal is better than current law, which isn’t being enforced at all.

It still doesn’t have any hard border security provisions written in as “thou shalt do”. Almost all can be blown off the head of DHS, and the border agent surge doesn’t occur for nearly half a decade. Legalization comes immediately.

Mr. Rubio called the English-language loophole “one of the bill’s shortcomings” and vowed to fix it, and even wrote an amendment to require immigrants to prove English skills, rather than merely sign up for classes, which under the bill is considered acceptable.

That’s right, folks, they do not actually have to learn English, as Marco stated time after time after time. And, Rubio has quietly removed the “must learn English” provision from his “get the facts” webpage. The amendment, like most amendments, failed.

Debate was virtually non-existent, despite another Rubio promise to have a long debate about this issue.

Mr. Rubio already is winning plaudits from Democrats, including Sen. Charles E. Schumer of New York.

Michael McKenna, a Republican strategist with deep ties to Capitol Hill, predicted there will be more praise like that for Mr. Rubio — but that it won’t help him when it comes to winning over primary voters.

“He’s instantly the Democrats’ favorite Republican to win the nomination in 2016. The media and the Democratic establishment are going to love him and try to convince us all that he’s really the answer to the problems that plague the Republican Party. I suspect the Republicans are going to have a significantly different take on it,” Mr. McKenna said. “He’s a young man who once had a bright and promising political future. He’s instantly the Brazil of American politics.”

This is Rubio’s bill, no matter what happens. The question is, will he be punished for it? Will Republicans and Conservatives remember this come 2016, when he’s up for re-election, and may possibly run for president, and say “nope. No money or support for you”?
