#NCDemParty forgot to check for spelling and grammar in new AD criticizing #NCGOP education reforms. #ncga #ncpol pic.twitter.com/NMEhYDnWvk

Let’s zoom in on that picture

Let’s tell NC Democrats to study up on their own education. And, before you say it, yes, I make grammar mistakes in posts. Especially headlines. We all do. This is an ad slamming Republicans on education. Interestingly, Dems aren’t really concerned about the poor education the kiddies are receiving.
Via Sister Toldjah.
Writing in the Washington Times, Rand Paul makes the point that Democrats tend to not want the “Affordable” Care Act for themselves
Earlier this week, in an effort led by Sen. Ted Cruz, some of my Republican colleagues and I took to the Senate floor with the intent of making Washington listen. The American people have made it abundantly clear that they do not want Obamacare. In fact, a majority of elected officials, the same officials that voted to implement this health care mandate, do not want it, either.
Last summer, in a 5-4 decision authored by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., the Supreme Court wrongly concluded that Obamacare’s individual mandate could stand. As a consequence of the court’s ruling, starting on Oct. 1, whether they want it or not, Americans will be compelled to purchase a government-mandated product — health insurance — or pay a tax.
What should infuriate you the most is the fact that the same elected officials who implemented this mandate have recently declared themselves exempt from it. That is to say, these officials are forcing you to partake in something that they themselves are refusing. If Obamacare is so great, why then are federal employees and elected officials getting special treatment and opting out?
If President Obama, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Harry Reid and Chief Justice Roberts love Obamacare so much, they should live under it. Their actions speak louder than words, and it is erroneous for these leaders to even attempt to claim that Obamacare is a step forward for Americans.
Senator Paul goes on to describe many of the negative outcomes that have so-far occurred thanks to the “Affordable” Care Act. The layoffs, the dropping of coverage, moving employees to under 30 hours a week, the extremely weak jobs market, and so on.
I have a proposal. I have offered an amendment that would outlaw any special exemptions for government employees. This amendment requires all federal workers to purchase health insurance from the new Obamacare exchanges, instead of receiving taxpayer-funded subsidies.
I am also introducing a more broad constitutional amendment, which states that Congress shall make no law that treats citizens differently from the elites in the federal government.
He wants to remind lawmakers that they are not above the American citizenry. You can bet that the amendment will be shot down by the Democrat controlled Senate, if it even makes it out of committee. As to the Constitutional amendment, which I mentioned the other day, he should first bring it up in the Senate, and find a fellow Republican to bring it up in the House. This would require a 2/3 vote in favor in both, and we know Democrats will not vote for it. This would be good politics.
Then, he can attempt to get the States to call for a Constitutional Convention. With 27 controlled by Republicans, he would need 33. Would Democrat legislatures approve of having the Convention? It would then require three fourths of the States to ratify. 38 states. With 17 controlled by Dems, that would be tough. It would depend heavily on what the people in the States want. And there might be enough, even amongst Democrats, to push for Washington to have to submit to the same laws they pass for the citizens.

(USA Today photo of an evil power plant in Sofia, Bulgaria, which dares use coal and puts out steam)
The last IPCC report, AR4, stated that it was “very likely” that they were full of bat guano, er, that Mankind was at fault for the tiny bit of warming (mentioned in the AP report) since the Little Ice Age, now…
(USA Today) Global warming is “unequivocal” and it is “extremely likely” that humans are the primary contributors to this warming, according to a report released Friday morning in Stockholm by the U.N.-created Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the world’s top climate research group.
“Human influence has been detected in warming of the atmosphere and the ocean, in changes in the global water cycle, in reductions in snow and ice, in global mean sea level rise, and in changes in some climate extremes,” the report says.
I’ll agree that Mankind has some small influence, perhaps 10-15%, mostly from agriculture, landfills, land use, and the Urban Heat Island Effect, but, sea rise is well within the norm of the average for the last 7,000 years (this is when the monster sea rise from the end of the last glacial age slowed down), meaning that this is a light warm period. It has not accelerated. As for the rest, no big deal, either. It’s what is expected during a warm period.
The report says that it is now more certain than ever that “human influence has been the dominant cause of the observed warming” since the 1950s.
Which is funny, considering that the 1950’s through late 1970’s was a period of cooling. Remember the articles wondering if the earth was heading towards a new ice age? Perhaps the IPCC could explain the extreme warmth of the 1930’s? And rising temps post Little Ice Age?
The report says that “each of the last three decades has been successively warmer at the Earth’s surface than any preceding decade since 1850” and that in “the Northern Hemisphere, 1983–2012, was likely the warmest 30-year period of the last 1400 years.”
Well, duh. That’s what happens when a warm period follows a cold period. Does. Not. Prove. Causation.
As for the supposed “pause” in global warming since 1998, the report says that this may be due to changing climate models and that a fuller understanding of this pattern requires further study.
So, it’s now caused by faulty computer models? Seriously? That’s the tactic they’re taking? Oh, and that they don’t know what’s going on? What makes them think they know for the rest?
This all comes from the summery for policymakers, and prognosticates a temperature rise by 0.3 to 4.8 degrees C by the end of the century unless Government puts in massive controls on your life with lots of taxes and all the other things they’ve been pushing. That’s 0.5-8.6 F. That’s one whopping difference in prognostication, wouldn’t you say? Unless you’re forced to give up your fossil fueled lifestyle, we’re all going to burn and be flooded and live in drought and see more snow and ice and experience more earthquakes and volcanoes. Doom! Now watch the Warmists fly off in droves in fossil fueled vehicles for a nice working vacation in Poland for this year’s IPCC COP19.

I don’t know about you, but I need some solid proof to not only believe in something, but to take action. Hey, I believe we’re probably not alone in the universe, but, unlike “climate change”, I haven’t seen gobs and oodles of evidence against that Belief, unlike anthropogenic global warming
(UK Guardian) And that something else has a lot to do with the way we are wired as humans. We often prefer denial to confronting our problems, inescapable as they may be. We often shirk from responsibility for our share of the mess and hope that others will do the clean-up. We have an immoral tendency to weasel out when we feel that the bill will be footed by distant strangers or future generations. And we are loth to accept as true something that might jeopardise our cherished way of life. Therefore, some of us are more than willing to listen to charlatans telling us what we like to hear, for example that climate change is a hoax and that we should think positively and all will be well.
Were it not man-made, it would be tempting to say that climate change is a problem from hell. It has all the characteristics of a problem that cannot be solved and perhaps not even managed. But some people are simply not willing to give up the fight. The stakes are too high for that, and while the belief in the transformative power of knowledge may be heroic we don’t have anything better. The climate scientists at the IPCC cannot be praised enough for holding on against all odds.

Consensus is politics
(Mother Nature Network) Climate experts also told LiveScience they would like to see the new report stress the scientific consensus on climate change, and emphasize the link between human activities and global warming.
“I hope this report will stress the virtual certainty among the scientific community that humans are affecting the climate system in profound ways, mainly through burning ever-increasing amounts of fossil fuels,” said Jennifer Francis, an atmospheric scientist at Rutgers University in New Jersey. “I hope it will emphasize the high confidence in attribution of many aspects of climate change to increasing greenhouse gases, and de-emphasize the discussion of uncertainty. The public hears ‘uncertainty’ and thinks there is no consensus.”
Yet, these same “climate scientists” will take lots of fossil fueled travel themselves. But they want everyone else to Believe. They do have their talking points down: notice so many of the stories surrounding the upcoming AR5 feature rants against burning fossil fuels.
Climate researcher Julienne Stroeve said the final IPCC report needs to communicate the differences between natural variability and long-term climate changes.
“I believe society is often confused about the differences between natural variability and long-term changes,” said Stroeve, a research scientist at the National Snow & Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colo. “While the models used in the IPCC reports are useful tools for generally expected climate changes, natural variability can be powerful in reversing these trends for several years at a time, which doesn’t negate anthropogenic influences on climate. Better communication of that fact is needed.”
So, natural variability cannot cause long term changes, but driving a car to work can? Natural variability can “mask” the effects of taking a fossil fueled trip to Stockholm for a climate change conference, but cannot be the cause of the changes during the Modern Warm Period? It’s no wonder they want to focus on “consensus”, because the science they’re peddling is shoddy and shaky.

Everything in Liberal World is a sob story, meant to tug like Mastiff with a sock on the heart strings in some form or fashion, regardless of the damage Democrat policies do
(Daily Caller) A bright-eyed young woman featured as a happy participant in an ad for the government’s new Obamacare exchanges is also the sister of a high-ranking Obama administration health official.
“Have you met Alejandra?†asks a site run by the Department of Health and Human Services.
Alejandra is looking forward to college and needs insurance, according to an ad on Healthcare.gov, which is managed by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Alejandra “plans to become a health professional – just like her big sister Mayra…And like millions of young adults across the country, Alejandra does not have health insurance,†according to the ad, which is being sent out via email by the federal government. “She used to pay $300 for a checkup that will now be covered in the Marketplace.â€
“Alejandra paid $300 out of her own pocket for a checkup and some shots that she needed for school,†said Alejandra’s sister Mayra, who is featured in the ad.
However, the ad does not disclose that Mayra Alvarez is the director of public health policy in the Office of Health Reform at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Alvarez previously served as a legislative assistant on health issues for Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin.
Strange, why did she not stay on her parents insurance plan? That would have been allowable even before the “Affordable Care Act”. And we should call it the “Affordable Care Act”, in quotes the way “climate change” is in quotes, in order to highlight just how unaffordable it is. That checkup would be covered by the ACA, however, Alejandra will be required to purchase health insurance, and will pay, on average, 62% more for a plan through an Exchange than if she purchased it previously on her own (99% more for men). The average cost for a plan is $328. Of course, as a young person, Alejandra should understand that the “Affordable CA” is set up to stick it to her and others in her age group. So now, instead of paying $300 for a checkup once or twice a year, she can pay way more than that all year long. Or have pay a fine/tax. And, fortunately, her choice of doctors will be limited. And she’ll have to wait in long lines to see a doctor.

This is how “science” is practiced in Warmist World (via Junk Science)
(Deutsche Welle) The output of heat-trapping gases like carbon dioxide (CO2) continues to surge, forcing up global temperatures. Sea levels are also rising, said Mojib Latif of the Geomar Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research in Kiel. “This reprieve only refers to the ocean’s surface temperature. We can’t conclude that climate change has come to a halt.â€
Mojib Latif predicted a temporary hiatus in global warming Latif is a calm, self-controlled man, but he is easily angered by having to explain again and again why climate change isn’t just a scam. Back in 2008, Latif shocked many of his colleagues by saying the rise of temperature could indeed stagnate. Oceans covering two thirds of the earth’s surface are able to absorb heat and store it – especially in deep sea levels below 800 meters (875 yards).
This theory is supported by many other scientists, but there is limited data available about the deepest regions of the sea. That’s why Latif continues to stress how important research is in order to learn more about deep sea areas. “We know about the surface of the moon, but we know very little about the deep sea,†he told DW.
Most the article is seriously Alaramist, as expected. Now, here’s how science works
Here’s how Warmist science works
Notice that in the article Latif is essentially skipping all that pesky “gathering data and testing” stuff. He, like other Warmists, has essentially drawn a conclusion from a thought, without data. The hypothesis is “it must be Mankind’s fault, so we have to find a way to make everything fit our preconceived notions”.
