John Kerry Goes Creationist On “Climate Change”

I’m anxiously waiting for Warmists to assail John Kerry as an anti-science fundamentalist

(Weekly Standard) Secretary of State John Kerry continued to beat the drum on the dangers of climate change Friday, noting that “there is no Planet B.” The secretary made the remarks at the swearing-in ceremony for Ambassador-at-Large for Religious Freedom David Saperstein. He drew a religious connection to the issue of climate change, saying that “when it comes to the fundamental health of Earth, folks, we’d better stick to the Creator’s original plan.”

Kerry said he and Saperstein had worked together on a number of issues in the past thirty years, including climate change:

Together we got behind the CHIPS legislation for children’s health care. We pushed for the proposed Workplace Religious Freedom Act, which unfortunately never passed. We were partners in the struggle to help veterans who had been affected by Agent Orange. And we have been allies in trying to awaken the world to the dangers of climate change – and let me just say that when it comes to the fundamental health of Earth, folks, we’d better stick to the Creator’s original plan, because there is no Planet B. (Applause.)

Well, now, if we want to look at the Creator’s plan, we might see that the Creator created a climate that is constantly changing. It can flip between hot periods to glacial ages. It can see smaller periods of cooling and warmth. There have been multiple flips during this inter-glacial period, known as the Holocene. If we’re talking about the “Creator’s plan”, there is nothing unusual going on now, just another typical warm period.

BTW, most of Kerry’s speech, which was about “religious freedom”, which preceded Mr. Saperstein’s speech on religious freedom, rings very false in the Era Of Obama, especially since so much was about protecting the Religion Which Shall Not Be Named.

Double BTW, Rajendra Pachauri, Chairman of the IPCC, resigned after accusations of sexual misconduct (to put it mildly). No Frakking Consensus notes that his 2 page resignation letter is a love letter to himself, and includes

Pachauri’s letter talks about his “greatest joy,” and his “sublime satisfaction.” And about religion:

For me the protection of Planet Earth, the survival of all species and sustainability of our ecosystems is more than a mission. It is my religion and my dharma. [bold added]

Yes, the IPCC – which we’re told to take seriously because it is a scientific body producing scientific reports – has, in fact, been led by an environmentalist on a mission. By someone for whom protecting the planet is a religious calling.

Anyone shocked?

Thank Goodness Our National Nightmare On Raaaaacist Emojis Will Soon Be Over!

Did you know that emojis, thinks like and and are raaaaacist? Perhaps it would be better if I used and and for this Salon article by Anna Silman

We’re finally getting non-white emoji

Great news, fellow emoji users: It looks like our nonverbal communications are about to get a whole lot more inclusive.  The Next Web got their hands on some screenshots of Apple’s brand new emoji palette from iOS 8’s most recent beta release, and it seems they took the public’s appeals for more pictographic diversity to heart.

The new version will reportedly feature 300 new emoji, include a bunch of new family units in lots of different permutations (two dads, two moms, different combinations of kids, etc). In addition, a bunch of new flags made the cut — I’m happy to report my native Canada will no longer have to be represented by the five-pronged leaf emoji — while the iPhone emoji has been modernized and the watch emoji has been turned into an Apple Watch.

There will be six different skin tones to choose from, to differentiate from the uber white looking ones such as…wait, they’re mostly yellow so far? And have been? Hmm. Strange. I didn’t realize that white people were actually yellow. This sounds a bit like Asiaphobia, yes? Anyhow, they even have to go this far

Sadly, this is what people are worried about in modern time. Emoji skin tone. However, it does provide some amusement, as people looking down at their smartphones changing emoji “skin” tone will walk into things even more!

Libyan Ambassador Warns Of ISIS Capability To Launch Attacks Against Europe

Obama’s Big Libyan Adventure is working out so well. Much like how Obama and his team have messed up Iraq and blew it with Iran’s Green uprising and the Arab Spring

(Breitbart) In an exclusive interview with David Webb, a Breitbart News contributor and SiriusXM Patriot channel talk show host, Libyan Diplomat Dr. Aref Nayed, warned that ISIS in Libya has consolidated its grip on the city of Sirte, located on the Libyan northern coast nearly an hour away from Europe by plane.

Webb asked the Libyan official: “Last time, ambassador, when we talked about the number of cities and towns where ISIS is operating in Libya, you mentioned some 12 cities. Since that time, and it’s been a short time, what’s the situation on the ground now?”

“The situation is that they have consolidated their control on Sirte — it’s a major city that’s about an hour and 15 minutes by plane from Italy,” responded Dr. Nayed, who also serves as a senior adviser to the prime minister of Libya.

The Libyan ambassador also said that ISIS has enhanced its control over the Libyan capital of Tripoli, which also sits on the country’s northern coast across from mainland Europe.

“They have also began to extend their control over Tripoli, the capital. They’ve already set up some checkpoints and those checkpoints are still unchallenged by the so called Libya bound militias in Tripoli and the reason they’re unchallenged is because they are actually complicit in the rise of ISIS,” said Nayed.

Lest anyone think that Ambassador Nayed is full of mule fritters, Italy is taking the threat very seriously, despite some mocking of ISIS. One would think that Liberals would be appalled by ISIS vowing to “throw homosexuals off the Leaning Tower Of Pisa”, if not taking over Rome. CBS noted last week

Libya has lacked real security of any kind since the fall of long-time dictator Muammar Qaddafi in 2011, becoming a network of allied and feuding militias vying for control of territory. In recent months, a number of these militias have pledged allegiance to ISIS.

Good job, O!

CBS also noted that hundreds of boats have crossed the Mediterranean and

As CBS Radio News correspondent Anna Matranga reported, more than 3,500 migrants are believed to have crossed the Mediterranean on boats from Africa and the Middle East to Europe during January alone.

What’s the chance that hardcore Islamists are among those “migrants”? The damage and terror that can be caused by just one jihadi can be immense. And, while Egypt and other nations are very concerned, and called for a UN backed military coalition

But the U.S. and Britain rejected the call for a resolution, pushing instead for a political resolution to the crisis of leadership in Libya as a seeming prerequisite for tackling the militant groups operating inside the country.

Hey, perhaps if Obama sent them all some MP3 players with his speeches and selfies ISIS members would just give up, right? Pusillanimity. Obama wears his Chamberlain hat, and, sadly, so does Britain.

Meanwhile, ISIS has reportedly kidnapped at least 90 Christians in Syria.

Team Obama Asks Judge To Lift Order That Stops Them From Breaking The Law For A Bunch Of Lawbreakers

If only Team Obama would fight against ISIS and for a vibrant US economy as hard as they fight for illegal aliens, who take jobs away from Americans, commit crimes (ranging from theft, rape, murder, vehicular homicide, assault, property crimes, identity theft, etc), lower the working wage, and soak up our tax money via social services, all while demanding that America bow down and Give Them Stuff

(Fox News) The U.S. government asked a federal judge Monday to lift a temporary hold on President Obama’s executive action to protect millions of immigrants from deportation, Fox News has confirmed.

Justice Department lawyers requested a “stay” to delay a federal judge’s decision to block Obama’s immigration order, which legally allows 5 million immigrants to stay in the country.

DOJ lawyers filed the motion for a stay with the court of US District Judge Andrew Hanen in Brownsville, Texas. Last week Hanen issued a preliminary injunction for 26 states suing the US government to stop Obama’s executive action on immigration.

The states, led by Texas, have argued Obama’s action is unconstitutional and would force increased state investment in law enforcement, health care and education.

Have you ever seen this before, where an administration asks a judge who put a temporary hold on a program as being illegal to allow the illegal program which benefits law breakers to continue till the suit goes to trial? “Say, your honor, would it be OK if I continue parking illegally in a fire zone while I keep an eye on my meth production facility?”

Hanen will surely tell Team Obama “nay”, at which point they can attempt to ask the 5th Circuit for permission to continue their illegal program for illegals, which will also surely say “negative”. Along the way, they’ll surely decide that they’ll go ahead and implement parts of the shamnesty plan anyhow. They don’t have a great track record in following orders from judges.

NY Times: Illegal Aliens Like Super Fearful After Judge Upholds Law

This comes on the heals of a similar hand wringing article from the AP, both of which seem super concerned about a certain brand of law breakers

(NY Times) For Tomás Péndola, an immigrant from Argentina, it was a normal week teaching chemistry in a public high school here, filling a whiteboard with dense equations and coaxing his students to decipher them.

For Yeni Benítez, a Mexican immigrant in Wisconsin, this week was when “everything just fell apart.”

Mr. Péndola, who came here with his family when he was 10 and grew up in Florida without immigration papers, has protection from deportation and a work permit under President Obama’s program for unauthorized immigrants, known as Dreamers, who came to the United States as children. Ms. Benítez had been ready on Wednesday to join an expanded version of the program, which was announced by the president in November.

Interestingly. It’s not just low level jobs illegals are taking from Americans, but good paying ones. And, even more interestingly, ones that are paid by the legal tax paying citizens, which should have also been subjected to a background check including immigration status, per federal law.

“I’m back to this sense of insecurity, of being afraid every day, every hour, every minute,” said Ms. Benítez, who has a college degree in engineering but is working in a factory. “It really is taking a toll on me.”

That feeling tends to happen when one is in violation of the law.

Mr. Péndola and Ms. Benítez now stand on two sides of a sharp divide created by disagreements over how far a president can change immigration policy by executive action.

How about “virtually no change”? That’s the job of the Legislative Branch, per that pesky Constitution, and if the President doesn’t like it, isn’t getti nc b what he wants, too bad. TS.

Of course, we all know that the minute a Republican wins the White House, liberals will suddenly have a problem with any Exec orders, especially ones that illegally usurp Congresses job.

Good News: Chris Van Hollen (D) To Push Cap And Trade

Interestingly, he really doesn’t seem to want to pass cap and trade, he just wants to use it for political reasons….hmm, that sounds exactly like what I’ve been saying for years, that “climate change” is primarily a political tool

(CNN) With Republicans in control of both houses of Congress, the odds of passing a climate change bill this year are virtually non-existent. But Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Maryland, plans to reintroduce legislation to cap carbon emissions this week, anyway, due in part to the impact it could have on the 2016 election.

“Our goal is to keep attention focused on this issue as we head into this congressional session, and also into the presidential election in 2016,” Van Hollen told CNN, explaining the bill serves as a vehicle for discussion.

Van Hollen’s objective is to force Republicans to address the issue, and he believes they’re slowly coming to the negotiating table. Think Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, and her crusade against income inequality to push Hillary Clinton toward embracing a populist mission as she forms an economic platform for her likely presidential bid.

Again, this is about politics, not actually passing legislation that Democrats really want. They could have rammed through cap and trade during the time they fully controlled Congress, 2009-2010, with a Democrat president, much as they rammed through Stimulus, Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, and many other bills. They chose not too.

Yes, there are squishy Republicans who Believe, and like the idea of more Central Government. But, again, as my long running meme, if all these Warmists really believed that “climate change” will doom us, and Mankind is mostly/solely at fault, they’d practice what they preach rather than attempting to force their beliefs on Other People.

Shocking News: Climate Skeptic Paid By Fossil Fuels Companies

Obviously, this invalidates everything, you guys!

Leading climate change denier was paid by energy companies
Wei-Hock Soon earned more than $1 million publishing erroneous reports

Wei-Hock Soon, a leading climate change denier whose work has fortified right-wing political arguments for years, was paid more than $1.2 million by energy companies, The New York Times reports. New documents uncovered by Greenpeace via the Freedom of Information Act show that over the last decade, Soon received sizable funding from oil and gas corporations, which he failed to disclose in scientific papers he published.

Who else will pay? The government surely won’t. They are in the business of only funding one side, the same as groups like WWF, Sierra Club, Greenpeace, etc. They in no way want anything that diverges in the least from their cultish beliefs

Climate Statistician Dr. Matt Briggs: ‘What effect do you think the billions of government money flooding into the system has? Why is it government money is seen as ‘pure’ and industry money ‘tainted’, especially when the government far outspends industry. The government is, after all, an interested source. Just think of EPA grants. What will you say of the common practice whereby scientists review grants and also receive them from the same agencies (not simultaneously of course)? Tremendous conflict of interest! Do you recall Eisenhower’s speech where he not only cautioned against the military-industrial complex but also about the corrupting influence of government money?’

I kinda missed the part about “erroneous reports”. Oh, here it is, back to original article

“What it shows is the continuation of a long-term campaign by specific fossil-fuel companies and interests to undermine the scientific consensus on climate change,” Kert Davies, executive director at the Climate Investigations Center, told the Times. Experts say Woon’s work employs “out-of-date data, publishes spurious correlations between solar output and climate indicators, and does not take account of the evidence implicating emissions from human behavior in climate change.”

Interesting. It’s called “erroneous” because it refuses to mostly/solely Blame Mankind. Does the Climate Investigations Center fund skeptics to do research? No.

This is a witch hunt designed to discredit people in order to discredit research Warmists do not like, rather than responding directly to the research and rebutting it. No one really cared about James Hansen being funded by Government and the Heinz Foundation. The media collectively yawned at all the errors and lies in multiple IPCC reports.

Yet, these Warmists still won’t practice what they preach.

DHS Head Johnson: “Violent Extremism” Phrase Came From Muslim Leaders

This would be at Obama’s little summit, which excluded a group of reform Muslims. One which opened with a Muslim prayer, and no prayers from other religions. One which featured Muslims who defended terror groups.

(Fox News) Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said on Sunday that President Obama’s decision not to say the actions of the Islamic State is a form of “radical Islam” is at the behest of the Muslim community.

“The thing I hear from leaders in the Muslim community in this country is ISIL is attempting to hijack my religion,” Johnson told “Fox News Sunday,” referring to the terror group also known as Islamic State, or ISIS.

Johnson said the leaders argue their religion is about peace and brotherhood and “resent” that Islamic State is “attempting to hijack that from us.”

Huh. Rather convenient excuse. Is it true? It’s hard to know with Team Obama, since they lie a lot. They also like to Blamestorm a lot, too. This could very well be a typical shifting of blame.

Johnson, who appeared on all of the major Sunday talk shows, also made a similar argument.

“To refer to ISIL as occupying any part of the Islamic theology is playing on a battlefield that they would like us to be on,” he said. “I think that to call them some form of Islam gives the group more dignity than it deserves frankly. It is a terrorist organization.”

Remember when the US refused to identify the Nazis as Nazis, because it would have given them more dignity than they deserved? Of course, the same administration is more than willing to identify domestic political opponents. Such as with the silly “sovereign citizens” report. And the many “right wing terrorists” reports from Obama’s highly politicized DHS has released.

Sidebar: if sovereign citizens hate the police, does that make a good chunk of Black people sovereign citizens and “right wing extremists”?

Anyway, Obama and his team have long avoided linking Islamist extremists to a belief in Islam, well before this confab. Think about that in light of “shifting blame”.

Belief In Witches And UFOs Higher Than For Obama’s Net Neutrality Plan

Most people understand that heavy handed government regulation is a Bad Idea, at least when it comes to that same heavy handed government regulation directly affecting their own lives

(CNS News) Matthew Berry, chief of staff to Federal Communications Commissioner Ajit Pai,pointed out that only nine percent of Americans support the commission’s plan to regulate the Internet.

“More Americans believe in witches (21%) than support Pres. Obama’s Internet regulation plan as it stands (9%),” Berry Tweeted on Friday.

Berry was referring to the findings of a poll conducted over the weekend that found that only nine percent of Americans support the “net neutrality” regulations set for a vote next Thursday. The study was conducted by Hart Research Associates, a Democratic polling firm.

In a 2005 poll looking at beliefs in the paranormal, Gallup found that more than twice that number – 21 percent – of Americans “believe in witches.” The poll also found that 24 percent of Americans believe that “extraterrestrial beings” have visited Earth.

We also find in the poll

  • 56% of Americans do not believe that the government should take a stronger and more active role in overseeing and regulating the Internet. Only 33% favor such government action.
  • 53% of Americans believe that it would be harmful for the FCC to do what President Obama has requested and regulate the Internet using the same authority it has used to regulate telephone service. Only 32% believe taking that step would be helpful.

Those who are in favor are either fools or believe that these draconian and burdensome regulations will make sure that their political opponents and people they do not like will be shut up. 79% also want the FCC to release the actual text of the plan, all 332 pages, prior to the upcoming vote, something the Democrats who run the FCC refuse to do.

Ted Cruz did a great job in explaining why the net neutrality plan is a Bad Idea

Let me tell you another reason. I’ve mentioned that I used to work in the wireless industry, from 1994-2010. I started when it was still called “cellular”.  As time when on, and we hit the late 90’s, the “joke” in the industry was that the USA was 5 years behind the rest of the world. Which was almost true. The rest of the world had jumped into using SMS, MMS, wireless internet, heck, even color displays, way before the US. Why? A couple of reasons. One was that the US is a very big country with a spread population, one which travels on roads quite a bit. Americans wanted coverage. Putting up towers takes capital, and could take up to 2 years to accomplish. It doesn’t happen by magic. There were quite a few considerations, such as “will this tower make money or is it a need tower (such us might be on a major highway, but they would be very spread out. Remember dropping calls on highways?)”. Making sure there were enough channels available to place calls (yes, that is a thing). Oh, and dealing with massive government regulations, requirements, permits, and permission.

I remember a time when a city council member from Wake Forest came in to my store and complained about coverage in WF. A big boss happened to be in store that day, and informed said council member that the council was blocking BellSouth Mobility DCS from building towers in the city limits. Huh.

Another big problem was government regulation overall. The government did a great job in stifling innovation. Hence, most big tech advances in wireless occurred overseas. They had been texting and picture messaging and using the Internet on their phones for years prior to the US getting it. The phones with the most tech tended to be foreign in origin. Ericsson, chief among them. Sony. Nokia. When we finally saw wireless Internet, what is called WAP (wireless access protocol), it had a maximum speed of 14.4kbs, with a true access of 9.6kbs. In other parts of the world it was considerably faster. I could go on and on, but government regulation helped stifle innovation.

Net Neutrality will stifle innovation, drive out business, and be used as a political tool. Those who love the idea of restrictions on content that they do not like should remember that they themselves could end up on the short end.
