Warmists Who Originally Promised Never To Have A Baby Has A Baby

Remember Eric Holthaus and his little Twitter freakout? First he cried

Then

Because

And

t0

But he did backtrack a bit on the babies thing, because Warmists always believe Other People should be forced to practice what Climastrologers believe. And backtracked 100% over the last few days

Should Climate Change Stop Us from Having Babies?

If you’re like me, climate change keeps you up at night on a regular basis. It’s not so much that we’re still on track for the worst-case global warming scenario, or that the survival of countless species—not to mention civilization as we know it—hangs in the balance, but the quiet understanding that our kids are going to feel some of the worst impacts in just a few brief decades.

I sleep very well. There are enough real world things to become anxious and neurotic over, instead of “climate change”.

In the last few weeks alone, Boston has been buried under record amounts of snow, an endless winter hell that’s been linked to warmer-than-normal water temperatures in the Gulf Stream. Meanwhile, California is shriveling up, amid predictions of imminent mega-droughts across the western US. It’s hard to predict how climate change will affect us next, but clearly it won’t be good. Already, scientists are telling us to say goodbye to Miami and Manhattan, not to mention chocolate, coffee, and beer.

There we go, the Cult Of Climastrology’s notion that hot causes massive cold and snow.

For natural pessimists, the inexorable destruction by climate change leads to thoughts that fall along the lines of this Jezebel headline, which asks: “ Why Would I Ever Want to Bring a Child Into This Fucked Up World?” Because really, why the hell would someone of procreating age today even consider having a baby? It feels like an utter tragedy to create new life, fall in love with it, and then watch it writhe in agony as the world singes to a crisp.

Ah, but the reality is that Climastrologers say that people shouldn’t have children because kids have a massive “carbon footprint”. Of course, most Warmists push this notion for those in 3rd World nations, particularly Africa, saying those folks shouldn’t have kids. Seems rather racist, eh? But, then, most Warmists are also disciples of Margaret Sanger, a big time racist and eugenicist.

By making global warming a science issue, campaigners against climate change lost the majority of the public’s interest in the topic, even though the stakes have never been higher.

Wait, you mean it actually wasn’t a “science issue” originally? Cat. Bag.

My wife and I just had a baby, and it’s quickly becoming the best decision we ever made. Even though his future is uncertain, the knowledge that there’s still time left to turn things around has become a tremendously powerful motivating factor in our lives. Our baby has brought us back from the brink. It’s impossible to be hopeless with a newborn. Climate change has changed me. And I don’t think I’m the only one.

And there we go. A new baby, sucking up the valuable resources of Gaia, dooming us all to climate hell. Climahyopcrite.

Anyhow, congratulations to Eric and his wife. Please do not make your child neurotic with climate change insanity. And, since babies are, according to your cult, bad for climate change, so have less, it’s time for that vasectomy.

Movement To Replace Andrew Jackson With A Woman On $20 Bill Gains Steam

Food for thought

(Yahoo News) Change starts with our bills.

A feminist group wants to remove the image of Andrew Jackson from the $20 bill and replace it with a picture of one of the many illustrious women from American history.

The nonprofit Women On 20s thinks the centennial of women’s suffrage, 2020, would be the perfect opportunity to add women, such as civil rights activist Rosa Parks or former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt, to the pantheon of American heroes on our currency.

Interesting notion. As someone on Fox and Friends noted this morning, why not create a new $25 bill instead, and put a woman on it?

Last month, Women On 20s introduced 15 female candidates to replace the 19th-century statesman: Alice Paul, Betty Friedan, Shirley Chisholm, Sojourner Truth, Rachel Carson, Rosa Parks, Barbara Jordan, Margaret Sanger, Patsy Mink, Clara Barton, Harriet Tubman, Frances Perkins, Susan B. Anthony, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton.

Voting began on March 1 to coincide with Women’s History Month.

After garnering at least 100,000 votes, the nonprofit intends to introduce its proposal to the White House in hopes that President Obama will take executive action.

Interesting selection. Some of the women are certainly deserving. Others, not so much. Rachel Carson? She wrote a fear mongering book based on feelings, not science, which has directly led to the deaths of millions, particularly Black people in Africa, through her insanity over DDT.

Margaret Sanger? An unabashed eugenicist and racist, who ushered in the big time business of abortion on demand, and very much wanted to limit the births of babies to Black people.

How about Janis Joplin? Or Pat Benatar? Grace Slick? Aretha Franklin? Patsy Cline? Some of the most important women in American music.

How about Molly Pitcher? Or Sacajawea. Dorothea Dix. Lucy Stone. Elizabeth Blackwell. Mary Bliss Parsons. Katherine Hepburn.

On the list, which you can vote on, I’d go for Clara Barton or Susan B. Anthony.

Portland’s Plan To Combat Hotcoldwetdry Is Almost Ready

Supposedly, at this time, The Plan is more about “spreading awareness”

(Portland Tribute) Portlanders, you’re driving too much and eating too much red meat.

And office tower landlords, you need to take major steps to cut energy usage.

Those are some of the takeaways from a draft update of the Portland/Multnomah County Climate Action Plan that goes out for public review this week. The update promotes scores of changes in our behavior, lifestyle, government and business practices so we can do our part to slash carbon emissions and prevent serious global warming — the biggest environmental threat to our planet aside from nuclear war.

The scary part is that means rolling back our carbon emissions to 40 percent below 1990 levels over the next 15 years, and 80 percent over the next 35 years.

The good news is that emissions in the county already dropped to 14 percent below 1990 levels by 2013, the most recent data. That may not sound like much, but it occurred as the population grew 31 percent, so the reductions are huge on a per-capita basis.

It means rolling back their modern lifestyles. And this is exactly what the “climate change” movement is about: government dominance and control of our personal lives and the private sector.

The updated draft plan addresses the need to adapt to climate change, a recognition that some climate disruption already has occurred. That means we must plan for more heat waves in the summer, colder spells in the winter, more forest fires, a dwindling snowpack and more floods and landslides.

So, hot causes cold. Insert facepalm here.

Fixing that car rather than replacing it could help. So can eating more veggies. Producing red meat and dairy products requires far more carbon emissions than high-protein meals made from lentils, beans and tofu.

Right now these are just “suggestions”. How soon till they are mandates?

The biggest area of needed improvement, according to the plan, is for energy used inside homes and buildings.

The city now vows to mandate, for the first time, that owners of large office buildings record and publicize their energy usage, as a way to encourage more conservation. Another new mandate called for in the plan: requiring all homes to have energy performance ratings, so residents will know how much energy they are using.

And there are the mandates. Which will grow over time to requiring conservation under penalty.

Though Portland is known worldwide for reducing carbon emissions, there are some noticable lagging indicators. More than three out of every five trips in the county are done by a single person driving alone. The Climate Action Plan calls for that to be down to one in five trips by 2030 — only 15 years from now. To get there, the number of people who travel to work, school or play on foot, by bicycle or via transit would have to nearly triple.

Wait, in the Very Liberal City Of Portland which believes heavily in “climate change” they still use fossil fueled vehicles, and in such a horrible for Hotcoldwetdry manner? Strange.

Climastrologers Are Concerned With The Climate Grieving Process

People like this used to be given vast amounts of medication and involuntarily committed as dangers to themselves, if not shunned as raving nutballs. Now, their insanity is mainstream (via Tim Blair)

Understanding grief can help us adapt to climate change

Grief is a natural response to the loss of something cherished – a loved one, a place, a memory, an icon, a way of life.

As people adapt to the increasing frequency and severity of extreme weather events, and to a changing environment, researchers are starting to realise the role grief can play in how well people are able to cope with climate change.

Even with concerted efforts to reduce greenhouse gases, some climate change cannot be avoided, with many changes such as increasing frequency and severity of extreme weather events to 2040 being locked in, regardless of action we take. These changes are already happening now and will continue into the foreseeable future.

30 years ago, people simply said “meh, weather happens”. Perhaps cried with rage over loss from weather that has always happened. Or they jumped for joy. They coped. Kids were delighted by lots and lots of snow. Now, everyone is supposed to freak out with uber anxiety over what might possibly could maybe happen in the future.

Does climate change cause grief?

A variety of losses can be experienced. People may grieve due to the perceived future loss of something; for example, the type of grief often expressed via social media over the potential loss of the Great Barrier Reef. Individuals and communities may grieve for the loss of a loved landscape damaged by drought, fire or flood.

Because weather never changed before, and weather never changed the landscape.

In a normal and healthy grieving process, individuals move through the process of grief and continue with their lives. How well a person copes during this process depends on their experience, context and external circumstances.

These people are anything but normal, and their “grieving process” requires the Government to take control of our lives, businesses, and money.

So how can we help people and communities work through the climate grieving process?

How about tamping down your insanity and doomsday cult rhetoric? That would be a good start. Oh, and practice what you preach.

Another way to help people accept these changes is through cultural activities that support the expression of grief. In Australia, local government, community, and the arts sector have led in this area. Storytelling is often used as it provides a structured and often empowering way of expressing difficult emotions.

No, I’d go with “practice what you preach, give up your own use of fossil fuels and make your lives carbon neutral”. Also, I’d recommend that Climastrologers never have children (kids are bad for “climate change”, you know!), which would reduced the spread of their insanity.

Yemen Boy Locked In Cage, Set On Fire In Apparent ISIS Imitation

Fortunately, this had a better outcome than for the Jordanian pilot

(UK Daily Mail) A group of children in Yemen have attempted to burn a 10-year-old boy to death after first locking him in a cage in a shocking imitation of the Islamic State’s murder of a Jordanian pilot.

As many as seven boys are believed to have attacked the as-yet unnamed victim in Al Dahthath village in the country’s northern Ibb province.

The defenceless child was then locked in a wooden cage and had petrol poured over his body before being set alight. Thankfully a group of locals spotted the attack and managed to save the boy’s life, although he was still left with horrific burn injuries on his legs.

Local journalist Mohammad Mouzahem was told about the attack and posted details of it on his Facebook page, according to Gulf News.

The boys are understood to have been inspired by murders committed by ISIS after using mobile phone apps such as WhatsApp to share gruesome videos of the terror group’s atrocities, despite living in a remote village where electricity supplies are unreliable.

Anyone still think ISIS and extremist Islam aren’t serious concerns? Beware the link, which contains graphic photos of the child’s burned legs.

Meanwhile, also at the UK Daily Mail

The Gaddafi clan’s most senior figurehead has warned of ‘a 9/11 in Europe within two years’, while claiming that ISIS forces in Libya are now recruiting migrants to their terror cause with promises of ‘white virgins’.

Ahmed Gaddaf al-Dam, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s cousin and former intelligence official, has professed that ‘not less than half a million’ migrants will set sail from Libya to European shores this year.

Among them, he claims, are thousands of terrorists, who will soon be running amok in Europe culminating in a terror strike on the same scale as the September 11th attacks.

Mr Gaddaf al-Dam, one of several high-profile regime figures who fled to Egypt during the 2011 revolution, gave an interview to MailOnline as the North African state descends into ever-worsening chaos and bloodshed.

There is also a new terror threat at Charlie Hebdo, as police chase drones hovering over the building as well as many other sensitive areas.

Meanwhile, ISIS threw yet another gay man off a building while an enthusiastic crowd watched. One has to wonder when Liberals, who profess to be champions of gay people, will turn on ISIS and extremist Islam. One also has to wonder why so many news outlets refuse to cover what the UK Daily Mail covers daily.

Paper: The Pause Linked To Decreased Solar Activity

A scientists does scientists things, rather than looking into a crystal ball

(Daily Caller) A new paper claims that declining solar activity since 1998 could mean falling global temperatures in the years ahead — contrary to predictions of rapid warming made by virtually all climate models.

“The stagnation of temperature since 1998 was caused by decreasing solar activity since 1998,” wrote Jürgen Lange Heine, a physicist with the German-based European Institute for Climate and Energy (EIKE).

“From 1900 to 1998, solar radiation increased by 1.3 W / m², but since 1998 it has diminished, and could reach values similar to those of the early 20th century. A drop in global temperature over the next few years is predicted,” Heine wrote.

Hmm. Real world data instead of palm reading

Heine argues that warming during the 20th Century was not caused by increasing carbon dioxide emissions, but instead by increasing solar activity, changes in cloud cover caused by cosmic rays and huge amounts of cloud condensation nuclei in the atmosphere from the nuclear weapons tests conducted from 1945 to 1963.

Personally, I’m not sure of that last bit. I’d have to see a lot more evidence.

This all comes via The Hockey Schtick, which provides charts and graphs and data and all those other things that the Climastrologers refuse to supply. Much of the information regarding nuclear weapons testing comes near the end of the paper.

Obviously, we can expect Climastrologers to immediately decry and refute the paper without reading it, because cult.

Los Federales Crack Down On Chinese Birthing Houses

There’s apparently one group of illegals the Obama administration doesn’t like

(Fox News) Airfare from the U.S. to China and a months-long stay in an Orange County, Calif., apartment: $80,000. A baby born a U.S. citizen: priceless.

In the largest operation of its kind, early Tuesday morning federal officials in Southern California served warrants at “Chinese birthing houses” or “maternity hotels,” where wealthy Chinese nationals paid up to $80,000 for the sole purpose of giving birth in the U.S. to obtain citizenship for their children, earning in-state tuition to U.S. universities for them and permanent U.S. residency for the parents.

“It is essentially citizenship for sale,” said Center for Immigration Studies analyst Jessica Vaughan. “Something U.S. citizens hold very dear and cherish is essentially being purchased by people for their own economic self-interests or potentially more nefarious purposes.”

Well, now, that’s rather interesting. It’s technically legal, though a rather shady way to do obtain citizenship for a child, which, of course, always leads the whining “don’t separate the child from the parents. And grandparents. And cousins. Aunts. Uncles. That weird kid who always stands in the back yard.”

During the search warrant, agents hope to obtain evidence of visa fraud, marriage fraud and tax evasion. Documents show Chen and Zhu claimed to have divorced in 2012, then entered into sham marriages in Las Vegas a few months later with U.S. citizens, allowing both to obtain lawful U.S. residency. Both then paid off their purported U.S. citizen spouses, in one case $10,000 in a series of 16 bank deposits.

Chen and his business associate, Dong Li, “earn hundreds of thousands of dollars in income from their visa fraud scheme,” according to court documents, yet Li filed no tax return and Chen filed a false return. Neither cited their foreign bank accounts as required by law. Chen drives a $200,000 Bentley, his wife a luxury BMW.

Investigators focused on three companies specializing in birth tourism fraud. In Orange County, the pregnant Chinese nationals tell hospital admission officials they’re indigent, sticking U.S. taxpayers with the cost of their babies, “which often exceed $25,000,” according to court records.

What Los Federales seemed to be focusing on was fraud and other charges to put a stop to this, rather than immigration violations. Yet, they seem rather blase when it comes to other illegal groups, particularly those from Mexico, Central America, and South America who cross the U.S. border illegally and then have their babies, sticking the U.S. taxpayers with the cost of their babies. And then sticking the U.S. taxpayers with so much more.

Do not misunderstand: I agree with this crackdown. There should be a crackdown on all who are gaming the system and coming illegally/overstaying visas. The Law should be applied equally and to all.

Senator Cruz Rolls Out ObamaCare Alternative

Wisely, this plan looks to be taking the best of all the Conservative ideas and putting them together

(The Hill) Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Tuesday offered the latest in a series of Republican ObamaCare alternatives ahead of a Supreme Court ruling that could gut the law.

Cruz’s bill, called the Health Care Choices Act, would allow people to buy health insurance across state lines, long a Republican health policy goal. It would also repeal Title I of ObamaCare, which would undo much of the law, including the mandate to buy insurance, the insurance marketplaces and subsidies to help people afford coverage.

Republicans are looking to show that they have a plan ready if the Court strikes down subsidies for around 7.5 million people in the roughly three dozen states using federally-run marketplaces. The Court will hear arguments in the case, King v. Burwell, on Wednesday.

The Obama administration insists that it does not have a contingency plan and that it will prevail in Court.

“The administration has done absolutely nothing to prepare for an upcoming Supreme Court decision that could leave millions of Americans unable to afford insurance thanks to this failed law,” Cruz said in a statement. “Republicans must offer the American people alternatives that lower costs and break the status quo that favors big government and big health care business over hardworking Americans.”

The problem from Republicans is not that they do not have an alternative to Ocare: it’s that they have many, many plans to replace Ocare.

The plan joins a variety of recent GOP proposals. Three top Republicans have proposed a plan to provide financial assistance to let people temporarily keep their ObamaCare plans while a more state-based solution is worked out.

Meanwhile, three House Republican chairmen have proposed another plan, which would provide tax credits to help people buy insurance, while allowing states to opt out of ObamaCare’s mandates.

Cruz’s plan is the most detailed, in that he has provided legislative text. The other plans are not yet formal legislation and have only been outlined in op-eds. Questions such as the size of the tax credits remain on the House chairmen’s plan.

His plan is 31 pages long, and even includes something Ocare doesn’t: a severability clause. Cruz notes

“Every last word of Obamacare must be repealed,” said Sen. Cruz. “And while we continue that fight, we must also send bill after bill to the President’s desk to stop its harmful effects. The Health Care Choice Act will reduce costs, force insurers to compete for business and empower consumers to choose a health plan that meets their needs.

“This bill is a true market-based reform that will make health insurance more personal and affordable, giving consumers the freedom to select plans that fit their needs, anywhere from Alaska to Texas to Vermont.”

Reading the plan, it focuses on health insurance, on creating that competition, making it truly affordable, rather than on involving the Central Government in all aspects of health care. On interesting part is the requirement for insurance carriers/providers to offer clear and concise language within their policies and policy offers.

Personally, I would recommend including the so-called “popular idea” of Ocare, namely things like no cancellations for getting sick, no turn downs when applying, and allowing “kids” to stay on parents insurance till 26 years old. Also, provide a way for insurance carriers/agents to create large pools over state lines, which would certainly help with bringing down costs, as there would be huge pools of non-sick people to cover those who are sick. These would make the legislation popular with Americans.
