Who is Harold Brown?
Harold Brown was secretary of defense during the Carter administration and previously led the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and development of the Polaris missile warhead. He also served as U.S. director of Defense Research and Engineering and as secretary of the Air Force.
He’s certainly a smart guy, no doubt about it. Smart enough to recognize that Iran will cheat. But, he doesn’t care
Why accepting the Iran nuclear deal is a no-brainer
My experience as defense secretary during the Iran hostage crisis more than three decades ago tells me that Iran will probably try to circumvent thenuclear deal. My participation in nuclear weapons negotiations with the Soviet Union from 1958 through SALT II in the 1970s — during very hot points in the Cold War — reinforces my caution. Yet the United States can only accept or reject the deal, so let me discuss bottom-line pros and cons.
So, he just told us Iran will cheat. That right there should be a major con which should scuttle the deal, because the “snap-backs” for sanctions will never ever happen.
Iran’s nuclear program, its advance suspended during the negotiations, is but two years from a nuclear weapon. That’s an urgent problem demanding immediate attention. Iranian possession of nuclear arms would give other regional powers an irresistible urge to obtain them. The Middle East and Persian Gulf conflicts would escalate. That consideration surely motivated the unicorn-level rarity of a common position among the United States, Britain, France, Germany, the European Union, Russia and China.
He notes later on that Iran (if they do not cheat) would have to suspend their nuclear weapons operations, for the most part, for 10-15 years. Might not other Middle East nations decide they want to get a jump on Iran and develop their own nuclear weapons program?
Defenders of the deal point out that there are provisions to adequately monitor Iran’s compliance. Opponents note other concerns, including Iran’s ballistic missile program; its misbehavior in Iraq, Syria and elsewhere; its support of terrorists; and its threats and verbal attacks on Israel’s right to exist. These observations, although correct, are irrelevant to the more urgent task of trying to prevent Iran from having nuclear weapons by 2017.
Au contraire, they are way more than relevant, when Iran is supporting terrorism and acts that kill American citizens, when they threaten one of America’s key allies. Threatening to “wipe Israel off the map” is rather important, but, blowing it off is not unsurprising, seeing as how Mr. Brown served with Jimmy Carter, a noted ante-Semite and Israel hater, a guy who takes the side of Palestinian terrorists.
Does the agreement decrease pressure on Iran by giving it access to its frozen billions in assets? Yes, but it’s the nature of a deal that adversaries must give up some objectives. We could have devised a more favorable deal, but there would be no chance of an Iranian signature on the document. A “better deal†without an Iranian signature is worthless.
That’s what happens when one negotiates from a position of weakness. And, we barely even get a temporary state of security, since Iran will further fund terrorism in the Middle East.
Failure of U.S. adherence to the deal would not slow but would hasten an Iranian nuclear weapon. The Russians and Chinese would certainly not sustain economic sanctions. Sanctions by the other countries would erode as well. With all of this in mind, approving the agreement is a no-brainer.
The Russians and Chinese will not allow sanctions to snap-back. Nor will the European nations which stand to make a lot of money trading with Iran. Hence, the deal is toothless, and we’ll have to deal with this down the road yet again.
I’ll ask one more time: if this deal was proposed by a Republican, how would Democrats be reacting?

I’ll admit, I voted for him in 2000. This was back before he went stark raving mad on “climate change”, and seemed to care more about true environmentalism. But, hey, what we need is yet another old white entitled male to take out Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Party primaries, to use liberal terminology
(The Hill) Al Gore’s supporters have started chatting with the former vice president about a potential 2016 presidential bid, BuzzFeed News reported Thursday, citing an unnamed senior Democrat.
“They’re figuring out if there’s a path financially and politically,†the Democrat told BuzzFeed, which noted Gore hasn’t made any moves toward running. “It feels more real than it has in the past months.â€
ABC’s Rick Klein tweeted that a former Gore adviser confirmed that a “circle of his former aides are talking about” a potential 2016 bid though they are still in the very early part of the discussion.
Gore starting trending nationally on Twitter shortly after the reports emerged Thursday.
This would be awesome, as we’d finally get Gore to debate on his pet subject, “climate change”. For being one of the main proponents of the movement, Gore has been reticent to debate anyone. Oh, who am I kidding, Gore refuses to engage in a debate with anyone on the subject. He’s great when it comes to prognostications and invective, but, he won’t defend it.
He stated that the Arctic would be ice free in 2014. Fail. He pimped the loss of glaciers on Mt. Kilimanjaro as being caused by climate change. That was wrong, because we found out that it had to do with clear-cutting trees. A British judge trashed his movie “An Inconvenient Truth”. He has a massive “carbon footprint”, but wants Everyone Else to be forced to give up their use of fossil fuels. He sold his TV network, Current, to Al Jazeera, which is partially owned by the Quatari royal family. The entire Quatar economy is based on fossil fuels. He jets the world around on private jets. He is one of the biggest climate hypocrites in the world.
It would be fantastic seeing him attempt to defend his climate change beliefs in a debate for the first time. Cult of Climastrology members say they want a debate on the subject for the 2016 elections: I really do not think they’d enjoy the outcome. So, run, Al, run!
BTW, Joe Biden, another old white entitled man is getting closer to deciding if he’s going to run, attempting to take out the woman in the race for the Democrats.

Believe it or not, the hardcore enviroweenies/Warmists are actually pushing this. And, of course, they wrap this whole thing under the banner of Hotcoldwetdry
Happy Earth Overshoot Day! We’ve Now Used All Our Resources For The Year.
On this day in August 2015, humans have used an entire year’s worth of the Earth’s natural resources, according to the Global Footprint Network.
Calling it Earth Overshoot Day, the group celebrates — or, rather, notes — the day by which people have used more natural resources, such as fish stocks, timber, and even carbon emissions, than the Earth can regenerate in a single year. It’s basically a balance sheet for global accounting.
“We can overuse nature quite easily,†Mathis Wackernagel, president of the Global Footprint Network, told ThinkProgress. “When you start to spend more than you earn, it does not become immediately apparent. But, eventually, you go bankrupt.â€
There’s an easy solution: all these believers can just kill themselves, something that they want for Other People. They don’t seem to care too much about human life, other than themselves. Or, really, they can refuse to breed, and they can immediately give up all use of fossil fuels, go completely carbon neutral, live in itty bitty domiciles, growing their own food, no AC, no heat, etc.
Amazingly, even if humanity were to achieve the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) recommended 30 percent reduction in carbon emissions by 2030, we would still be in a yearly deficit, according to the group.
Huh. Moving the goalpost. These people always want more.

NY Times opinion writer/Warmist Anna North is very upset that people might be mislead by Skeptics, and inadvertently highlights that she, and other Cult of Climastrology members, have no problems lying, despite the headline
Why Misleading Americans About Climate Change Is Dangerous
Even as the Pope and some conservatives call for action on climate change, it remains common among Republican politicians to claim that the science on the issue is murky or inconclusive. The latest to take this position is Gov. John Kasich of Ohio.
As Josh Israel notes at ThinkProgress, Governor Kasich has been lauded by some for his relatively moderate comments in last week’s presidential debate — and in a TV appearance on Sunday, the governor acknowledged that “man absolutely affects the environment,†and pointed to reduced emissions and alternative-energy efforts in Ohio. However, he also said that the impact of humans on the climate was a matter of “legitimate debate,†and that “we don’t want to destroy people’s jobs, based on some theory that’s not proven.â€
In fact the overwhelming majority of research supports the reality of climate change — a 2013 review of nearly 12,000 scientific articles published between 1991 and 2011 found that of those that took a position on the issue, 97.1 percent endorsed the idea that climate change was real and human-caused. The study concluded that papers disputing climate change were “a vanishingly small proportion of the published research.â€
Citing a completely debunked paper (this is the John Cook one being cited), one which has even been debunked by people the paper cites as supporting a postion that Mankind is responsible for 50% or greater of the current warm period, is not a particularly strong position. Furthermore, the vast majority of the papers in that survey did not take a position/held that Mankind was not mostly/solely responsible.
Making Americans aware of this fact can have real effects. A study published earlier this year found that informing people of the scientific consensus on climate change “causes a significant increase in the belief that climate change is (a) happening, (b) human-caused and (c) a worrisome problem. In turn, changes in these key beliefs lead to increased support for public action.â€
“Even a single, simple description of the scientific consensus significantly shifted public perceptions of the consensus and subsequent climate change beliefs and desire for action,†write the study’s authors. “A concerted campaign to inform the public about the scientific consensus would ideally involve numerous exposures to the key message, conveyed by a variety of trusted messengers.â€
And, boom, right there, Ms. North, and, by extension, the NY Times, are advocating that people should be misled on the subject in order to get them to change their minds. Well, really, they are advocating straight up lying to people.
Unfortunately, climate change deniers are doing the exact opposite — repeatedly misinforming the public by painting climate change as scientifically controversial, when in fact it’s anything but.
The problem here, of course, is that throwing out a one-liner about the 97% consensus is much easier than explaining why the study is a complete pant load, a work of fiction. Short talking points repeated ad nauseum are easier to believe than complicated rebuttals. And that’s the way they want it.
But, Warmists don’t want it enough to change their own lives. Just Other People’s lives.

Did you know that two activists protesting the death of Michael Brown (a punk kid who robbed a store, assaulted a police officer, attempted to take his gun, ran away when it went off, then stupidly charged the police officer, resulting in Brown being shot and killed) where arrested for violence?
(St Louis Post-Dispatch) A prominent figure in the Ferguson protest movement posted bail late Wednesday afternoon and departed the St. Louis County Justice into the arms of cheering supporters who had just ended a brief demonstration on her behalf.
“It’s beautiful,” said Brittany Ferrell, accepting hugs from some of the 75 demonstrators who just moments before had locked arms before a small contingent of Clayton police officers positioned outside the South Central Avenue entrance to the jail.
What were the hugs for?
Ferrell, 26, was freed after posting 10 percent of the $10,000 bail imposed after she was charged with felony property damage, trespass and peace disturbance.
The charges stem from what authorities said was an attack on a SUV driver who attempted to push past Ferrell and other demonstrators blocking Interstate 70 in Earth City on Monday afternoon.
Another activist, Alexis Templeton, 21, was charged with third-degree assault, trespassing on the interstate and peace disturbance. She was released earlier Wednesday afternoon.
The #BlackLivesMatter crowd blocked the I-70 during rush hour Monday, and one driver had had enough, and was slowly trying to force her way through. Templeton (a woman) punched her in the face through her car window, giving the driver a black eye. Ferrell kicked her car, causing $5,000 in damage. This is what they were celebrating with hugs and stuff. Violence against “Whitey”.
The purpose of the Monday highway protest, (Mike, another charged with trespass) said, was to delay westbound rush hour motorists bound for St. Charles, a county he described as a destination for “white flight.”
That’s a rather racist statement, but, hey, can you blame them for bailing when they see these Black activists loot, pillage, riot, and burn their own neighborhoods? When there is violence, shootings, and murders?
“I think we’re getting the message across,” said Mike.
Yes, you are, a message of violence.
Interestingly, they’re acting just like their (criminal) martyr, Michael Brown. Running ruffshod over society, punching people in cars.

Why not just give California to Mexico at this point?
California gives immigrants here illegally unprecedented rights, benefits, protections
It started with in-state tuition. Then came driver’s licenses, new rules designed to limit deportations and state-funded healthcare for children. And on Monday, in a gesture heavy with symbolism, came a new law to erase the word “alien” from California’s labor code.
Together, these piecemeal measures have taken on a significance greater than their individual parts — a fundamental shift in the relationship between California and its residents who live in the country illegally. The various benefits, rights and protections add up to something experts liken to a kind of California citizenship.
Democratic lawmakers and immigration activists, with diminishing opposition from the GOP, continue to seek new laws and protections. These measures include cracking down on employers withholding pay from low-wage workers and expanding state-subsidized healthcare to adult immigrants without papers.
It’s not like at least a third of California prisons are holding violent criminal illegal aliens or something.
A few comments from Californians
Of course, what California does will end up costing the taxpayers in the rest of the country.
