Baltimore Sees More Murders And Shootings After “Take Back Our Streets” Day

On Tuesday, Baltimore, along with many other Democratic Party run cities with heavy crime, held the “National Night Out” in an attempt to take back their streets. How’s that working out?

(ABC2) Two people were killed in a shooting in east Baltimore Thursday morning and police are investigating.

Baltimore Police roped off two crime scenes on E. Monument Street, one between Aisquith Street and N. Central Avenue and the other a few blocks away between Eden and Caroline streets.

These are parts of Baltimore that have crime after crime after crime. Another man was shot in the ankle.

Let’s remember that Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said

“Too many in our community know who the perpetrators are,” Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said. “We know who is perpetrating the violence. We have to speak up, we can’t be silent. That’s what National Night Out is about, to say we’re going to come forward and reclaim our streets.”

Obviously, the criminals aren’t listening. Perhaps she should start arresting them, instead of coddling them.

One Great Thing About Donald Trump, He’s Totally A Climate Skeptic

Tonight’s the night for the first GOP debate. At 5pm the lower polling candidates, 7 in all, will rumble, followed by a 9pm debate between the 10 top tier candidates. Will this be an attack forum or a policy forum? Time will tell. Will candidates go after some of Trump’s past Democrat leaning positions?

Republican strategist Ron Bonjean said Trump’s past positions — once describing himself as pro-choice, donating to the Clinton Foundation and other actions — indeed provide an opening to his primary opponents.

“The other Republicans on stage have an opportunity to challenge his conservative credentials,” Bonjean told FoxNews.com’s “Strategy Room.”

Again, I’m not big fan of Donald Trump when it comes to politics, because of those leanings, but, his current positions, and willingness to attack, then turn the counter-attacks from the compliant liberal media around, rather than retreating as elected Republicans almost always do, is refreshing, and making me think more positively about Trump. Oh, and then there’s this position, which has Vox’s David Roberts freaking out

Since President Trump is inevitable, let’s look at his views on climate and en…oh god why

Donald Trump is apparently a thing. He will appear in the first Republican primary debate tomorrow, and journalists are starting to take him seriously.

Given that Trump’s chances of winning the Republican nomination have been upgraded from “impossible” to “surely still impossible, right? guys?” I thought I’d take a quick look at his thoughts on the issues of climate change and clean energy.

But when it comes to climate and energy, Trump has mostly confined himself to stray comments here and there. Mostly on Twitter.

Let’s start with climate change. Long story short: Trump’s not buying it. A chronological account:

This is followed by multiple tweets from Trump proclaiming his skepticism on human caused “climate change”.

He offered this more nuanced take to the Palin Update radio show:

The real climate change is going to be nuclear climate change if we’re not smart and tough and very, very careful because that’s a big danger and that’s a real danger. I think Obama just said that the biggest threat that we have on the planet today is climate change, and a lot of people are saying, did he really say that? We have people chopping off heads and he’s talking about climate change. I call it weather. I call it weather. You know, the weather changes.

You look back and they were calling it global cooling and global warming and global everything, but if you look back and the biggest tornados were in the 1890s, the biggest hurricanes were in the 1860s and 1870s. It’s weather. You’re going to have bad weather. So often I watch the evening newscasts and every time there is a rainstorm some place, and then they wonder why they don’t do well, they say, ‘It’s raining here and it’s raining there,’ usually leading the program. I call it weather. Maybe there’s a little bit of change, I don’t happen to believe it’s manmade.

The Donald is a big fan of fracking and nuclear energy. He’s not a big fan of solar panels, he thinks Canada has better leadership, vis a vis the Keystone XL pipeline, he’s against creating massive wildspaces destroying wind farms, calling them “environmental disasters”, and is not a big fan of the EPA (let me note that the EPA has a place in society and government, they’ve just overstepped their original mandate tremendously and in a political manner).

As far as Trump goes, I can’t find anything that shows he has flipped on the subject, from being a Warmist to a true Skeptic. So, at least when it comes to this political issue, and “climate change” is a political issue, not a scientific one, Donald Trump should be more than acceptable.

Romney was very much a believer, he just promised that he wouldn’t implement any policies. For the current crop, those who are Warmists are: Lindsay Graham, John Kasich, Chris Christie, and Jeb Bush (the article mischaracterizes Carly Fiorina’s position). Marco Rubio has flipped on the issue, having even voted for a bill regulating greenhouse gases. Add that to his immigration bill, and he’s really not a guy you can trust. Mike Huckabee has flipped on the issue, even calling for a cap and trade system back in 2007.

The rest mostly agree that the world has warmed, but, they argue causation, stating that it is mostly/solely caused by Mankind.

Another bright side for Trump is that he does believe in a clean environment, and divorces real environmental concerns from the silly “climate change” push. Let’s not forget, the watermelons have folded almost every real environmental concern under the banner of their cult. So, good for Trump. He’s slowly earning my vote.

Obama Proclaims There Are No “Secret Deals” Regarding Iran

Let’s start off noting that Obama went completely off the rails during his Wednesday speech defending his horrible Iran deal. Powerline’s John Hinderaker wonders if this is Obama’s lowest moment yet

Today President Obama gave a speech at American University, urging acceptance of his nuclear deal with Iran. It was the usual exercise in deception and demagoguery, and he skated up to the edge of accusing opponents of the deal–a majority of Americans, apparently–of treason.

It was an exercise in strawmen, Blamestorming (including Blaming Bush), and lies

No doubt the worst portion of Obama’s speech is the one that has gotten the most attention. Note how Obama walks right up to the line of accusing Republicans in Congress of treason:

Just because Iranian hardliners chant “Death to America” does not mean that that’s what all Iranians believe. (Applause.)

No, but it is what Iran’s rulers believe. Iran’s Supreme Leader frequently leads mobs in chants of “Death to America.” Does Obama think he is kidding?

In fact, it’s those hardliners who are most comfortable with the status quo. It’s those hardliners chanting “Death to America” who have been most opposed to the deal. They’re making common cause with the Republican caucus. (Laughter and applause.)

It is also delusional. Iran’s hardliners are the regime in power. The mullahs are not aligning themselves with Republicans; on the contrary, they are trumpeting the fact that they got everything they wanted in their negotiations with John Kerry and Barack Obama. But Obama can’t, and won’t, confront that reality. He will just go on slandering his political opponents and lying to the American people.

Hinderaker notes that Obama is a bad president, but a worse man. This is exactly the kind of thing that made me write years ago that he is no longer my president. This kind of talk may be aimed at pushing recalcient Democrats to vote for the deal, but, this is insulting to the majority of Republicans and Independents, along with a small portion of Democrats, who are against this terrible deal. Say what you will about George W. Bush, he pretty much never attacked political opponents. He kept it presidential, unlike Obama, who acts more like the president of Media Matters.

He even admitted that “some” of the cash that will return to Iran will be used to fund terrorism. One thing he won’t admit to are the side deals

(The Hill)President Obama hit back at Republican opponents of his Iran nuclear deal on Twitter Wednesday.

The president denied suggestions there are secret terms to the deal that haven’t been shared with Congress and said rejecting the agreement would bolster Iran’s nuclear program.

“Important detail – there are no secret deals,” Obama wrote about the agreement, responding to a tweet from House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.).

“My staff can brief you on any question about any part of the deal,” he added.

“Mr. President, Americans deserve to know the details about the secret side deals,” Scalise had tweeted earlier Wednesday morning with the hashtag #IranDeal.

Perhaps NMP Obama should check with Secretary of State John Kerry, who admitted there are secret side deals to Congress, and that they can’t be shared with Congress and the American people. The man is a serial liar, putting the needs and wants of the hardcore Iranian regime over the needs and wants of the people he is Constitutionally bound to serve.

“Climate Change” Could Make San Francisco Feel Like San Diego Or Something

In addition to a broad look at heating and cooling needs around the country, Petri and Caldeira also zeroed in on 25 major U.S. cities to see how some of the country’s most populous places could change in the future. They found that, as of now, San Diego is the most “comfortable” city temperature-wise, meaning it has the lowest number of combined heating and cooling degree days. Residents of Minneapolis are less lucky — their city is the least comfortable.

And, in fact, projections indicate that Minneapolis will stay the city with the greatest number of heating and cooling degree days. But San Diego, on the other hand, will lose its title to another California city if nothing is done about climate change. Under a business-as-usual trajectory, the researchers found that San Francisco will become the city with the least number of heating and cooling degree days in the country. “The fact that future San Francisco will be quite similar to San Diego is really quite interesting,” Petri says, as present-day San Francisco is known for having a much cooler climate overall.

So, this would be a bad thing? Really? Of course, it would mean that the average temperature for San Fran would have to rise about 6-7 degrees Fahrenheit to match San Diego. Give it 600-700 years, and that could happen, what with the average global temperature rising a measly 1.4F since 1850.

Under the same scenario, Los Angeles would heat up enough to match the number of cooling degree days currently experienced by Jacksonville, Fla. And New York City’s combined number of heating and cooling degree days will match that of present-day Oklahoma City, as it will both lose heating days and gain cooling days.

Hooray for computer models!

Bummer: Warmists Say Obama’s Climate Change Plan “Practically Worthless”

(MSNBC) But for some who study climate change the only shame is this: Obama’s plan does not go nearly far enough. It’s meek and dangerously self-congratulatory, sapping the movement of urgency while doing almost nothing to maintain the future habitability of the earth.

“The actions are practically worthless,” said James Hansen, a climate researcher who headed NASA’s Goddard’s Institute for Space Studies for over 30 years and first warned congress of global warming in 1988. “They do nothing to attack the fundamental problem.”

“You’ve got to be kidding,” he wrote, when asked if the plan would make continued climate activism unnecessary. Obama’s plan, and for that matter the proposed plan Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, he continued, “is like the fellow who walks to work instead of driving, and thinks he is saving the world.”

But, if every Warmists gave up their own fossil fueled lifestyle and went completely “carbon neutral”, they’d make a big difference, and would go a long way towards convincing non-believers that Warmists think it’s actually a crisis. Of course, what they really want is more and more governmental control emanating from the central government. Obama is attempting to do this incrementally, knowing that once a big policy with all its tentacles is in place, it is damned near impossible to get rid of.

Many other Warmists are cited as thinking this plan is lame, and MSNBC makes sure to patronize their unhinged Warmists base (which hasn’t given up their own use of fossil fuels) with a poll that asks two questions about O’s plan

1. Yes, you support it and it’s long overdue

2. No, the plan falls far short on climate goals

Did I mention that Warmists, including ones like Obama and Hansen, fail to give up their own use of fossil fuels? Just want to make sure.

Baltimore Is Totally Trying To Take Back Their Streets Or Something

This is typical in big cities run mostly/solely by members of the Democratic Party. Crime running rampant, so they come up with all sorts of squishy feel good measures. Baltimore just tried a 300 Man March on bikes to stop the violence. There are demonstrations and marches and sermons and this and that, but, there rarely ever seems to be “hey, let’s go arrest the hell out of the bad people and prosecute them”. Which plays into a statement by Baltimore’s mayor

National Night Out seeks to reclaim Baltimore’s streets, image

The onslaught of violence in Baltimore this summer isn’t only devastating the victims, their families and friends, Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young said Tuesday — it’s also embarrassing the city on a national level.

“The image they’re showing of our city is sickening,” Young said told a crowd in Park Heights during a National Night Out celebration.

They should have worried about that when the police were essentially told to stand down and the mayor said to give looters space to destroy, all broadcast on live TV.

Forty-five people were killed in July, the city’s deadliest month in four decades, and 116 have been slain between May and last month — a three-month record.

At events around the city Tuesday night, Young, Mayor Stephanie-Rawlings Blake, interim Police Commissioner Kevin Davis and other officials declared their intent to “take back” the neighborhoods from those who are committing crimes and turn Baltimore’s image around.

“The community is coming out to say, ‘Enough is enough,'” Rawlings-Blake said. “‘We want to work in partnership for a safer Baltimore.'”

This has been done time and time again in Baltimore and other cities. Yet, they keep needing to do this kind of thing. I wonder why?

“Too many in our community know who the perpetrators are,” Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blacks said. “We know who is perpetrating the violence. We have to speak up, we can’t be silent. That’s what National Night Out is about, to say we’re going to come forward and reclaim our streets.”

If you know who they are, why not roust them, arrest them, and prosecute them? Snitch them out. What, exactly, does “speaking up” do? Does she think the criminal element will suddenly have a change of heart? The criminals know exactly who owns the streets, and it is not the mayor and her ilk, not when they are soft on crime.

Neighbors line-danced to the “Cupid Shuffle” and enjoyed burgers and hot dogs, while kids jumped rope and played in two bouncy castles.

I’m sure this totally made the criminals all squishy inside and change their minds.

Councilwoman Sharon Green Middleton stirred up the celebrants and spoke to their dedication.

“That is what brings pride back into your community,” she said. “I can’t thank you all enough for coming together.”

Nothing says pride like watching your neighbors loot, pillage and commit arson in your own neighborhood. On the bright side, there were no reported shootings Tuesday overnight into Wednesday. Unlike with this poor unlucky soul the previous night

Don’t forget, this a totally Democratic Party run city.

Obama Set To Rail At Americans Who Fail To Support His Really Bad #IranDeal

Almost every poll shows that the Obama/Kerry Iran deal is underwater. The latest from CBS News has it at 30% disapprove, 20% approve, with the rest not sure. Most say it won’t be effective in stopping Iran from going nuclear, which is an important point. The main opposition comes from Republicans and Independents, with Democrats falling in line as typical. So, Obama’s going to make a speech, surely throwing out all sorts of strawmen and harsh words at those who dare defying Him

(USA Today) President Obama will deliver a crucial speech on the Iran nuclear agreement Wednesday, arguing that the congressional vote that could block the deal is “the most consequential foreign policy debate since the decision to go to war in Iraq,” the White House said.

White House aides said Obama would “point out that the same people who supported war in Iraq are opposing diplomacy with Iran, and that it would be an historic mistake to squander this opportunity” to contain Iran’s nuclear program.

The framing of that message appears to be a direct appeal to congressional Democrats, many of whom either opposed the Iraq War or came to regret their votes to authorize it. Obama will need their votes to get the one-thirds vote necessary to sustain a veto.

This is Obama’s strawman argument. There is, in fact, a better choice, namely, negotiating a better deal, rather than one which simply limits Iran’s nuclear weapons aspirations for a decade while essentially removing sanctions which won’t ever “snapback”, all while providing security for Iran. Plus all the other bad parts of the deal, which was negotiated from a position of weakness by Team Obama.

USA Today apparently missed the memo from the White House that the speech will channel John F. Kennedy. The Washington Post is running an article with a headline that mentions it, as do many others, including Politico

As he defends his nuclear deal with Iran, President Barack Obama is honing a larger vision of foreign policy — one in which military power alone can’t achieve the most important objectives, America is strongest when leading an international coalition, and even an imperfect agreement with a sworn enemy can be progress, not capitulation.

Now, in a speech Wednesday at American University drawing on Cold War history — namely, a 1963 address by John F. Kennedy proposing new dialogue with the Soviet Union — Obama will try to reframe the Iran debate around the grander worldview underlying his new dialogue with Tehran and Cuba.

“You don’t enter into these kinds of agreements with your friends. You have to resolve these kinds of differences with your adversaries,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Monday.

There’s nothing wrong with talking to enemies, especially if it can stop them from Bad Behavior. It’s quite another thing to make an historically bad deal. And we still do not know about all the side deals. And this bad deal could very well lead to military action, which would mean war, after Obama has left office.

Obama will “describe how this debate is fundamentally about U.S. leadership in the world and how we can lead global efforts to address threats like Iran’s nuclear program the way we did when President Kennedy made the case for diplomatic efforts to address the threat of nuclear weapons and avoid catastrophic conflict,” Earnest said Friday.

Obama has already quoted Kennedy more than once in recent weeks, citing a famous line from the 35th president’s inaugural address in the context of the Iran talks: “Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate.”

Instead, they negotiated from a position of weakness, and showed that U.S. leadership is lacking. It’s capitulation. Expect him to whine at those who do not support his bad Iran deal (as he always does), because, as we all know, the best way to entice the opposition to come to your side is to verbally abuse them.

The remarks are scheduled for 11:20am, so, turn the TV on around 11:45 if you’re interested in watching. Nothing says “I respect you and want your support” like showing up late.

Two Illegal Aliens Appointed To Huntington Park Commission

This is exactly the kind of utter insanity that has Donald Trump leading the GOP polls

(LA Times) Julian Zatarain always assumed the doors of City Hall were closed to him because he is here illegally, arriving from Sinaloa in 2007 when he was 13.

The 21-year-old college student found other outlets for service, such as volunteering for the Red Cross and with an organization that helps young people like him get access to educational resources.

Then on Monday, Zatarain proudly accepted an appointment to the Huntington Park parks and recreation commission. Another immigrant here illegally, Francisco Medina, 29, won an appointment to the health and education commission.

“I’m speaking out for people like me,” Zatarain said. “I’m not doing anything wrong.”

Yes, you are. You’re in the country illegally. Will you represent the legal citizens? You’ve as much stated that you won’t.

Unsurprisingly, the comments are heavily against giving two illegal aliens these positions. It’s the same at Yahoo News, where I first ran across the story.

People who are in this country illegally cannot vote or seek elected office, but officials in Huntington Park said their status should not stop them from helping govern in other ways.

This is a dereliction of duty, and blatantly violates federal law which prohibits anyone from hiring anyone who is in the country unlawfully. It may be legal in California, but, federal law trumps state law. As liberals were quick to point out when states tried to crack down on illegals.

Typical liberal insanity. And once they’re done ruining a city, liberals move elsewhere to escape from the messes they created.

One thing the Huntington Park government is telling residents and visitors is that they do no have to actually obey the law.
