Thank Goodness, We Now Know The Best Way To Reduce Carbon Emissions

It’s so utterly easy, according to Warmist Andrew Eil. Of course, it’s not what you’re thinking, namely, that Warmists should practice what they preach and give up their own use of fossil fuels

This Is the Easiest and Least Costly Way to Fight Climate Change

Everyone knows that reducing carbon emissions is hard. Republicans like former presidential candidate Senator Marco Rubio (with little evidence) contend that acting on climate “would be devastating for economy.” Even more reasonable, less apocalyptic opinions on the subject recognize that reducing emissions–particularly fairly quickly–isn’t easy. Why else would it have taken 23 years after the Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit and the creation of the UN’s climate change body in 1992 to get all countries to advance plans to reduce emissions?

We’ve all heard the doom and gloom story. But you might not have heard that for many countries, there is a secret trap door and chute to lower emissions: eliminating fossil fuel subsidies, the goodies and discounts that governments worldwide dole out to the oil, gas, coal, and petroleum fuels value chain, and especially to consumers. And the best part: eliminating subsidies, 1and even raising fossil fuel taxes, might not even raise costs much if at all for consumers.

Of course, they aren’t subsidies, they are tax breaks, the type of tax breaks that are offered to any company. We’ve had this discussion numerous times, but, of course, you cannot separate a deluded left winger from their talking points once they take hold. Ever. Warmists are entirely too rigid in their dogma.

But it turns out delivering on promises to remove fossil fuel subsidies is not easy. It’s often the middle class that gets hit first and hardest when fuel prices rise. Many countries, particularly in the developing world, have been hit by waves of protests when governments have eliminated or rolled back subsidies, as in Nigeria andIndonesia in 2012. In many cases, governments have beaten a hasty retreat and re-imposed fuel subsidies in the face of political pressure and public unrest.

Oh, wait, I thought it was easy and would mean barely a blip in the cost for consumers? No? Here’s how this is defended

The elephant in the room, from the climate standpoint, is not only eliminating subsidies, but actively pricing carbon in fossil fuels and other greenhouse gases. Roughly three dozen countries do this, as do California and nine U.S. states in the Northeast. None has seen its economy tank as a result; most have flourished, while those that haven’t can hardly show the carbon price is to blame. In fact, raising prices on fossil fuels by removing subsidies and imposing taxes, as most European countries have done, can actually be good for consumers: rising prices lowers demand, which over time helps push prices back down. Furthermore, higher prices condition consumers to seek alternatives so that they are less vulnerable when price spikes hit. Ask the Europeans how much harder their lives were when oil was $100 per barrel of oil than now, with cheap oil. Answer: not much.

Except, the cost of living is higher in those areas, as is the base cost of energy. Furthermore, the carbon markets are failing, and are basically at junk bond status. But, hey, it’s good for consumers, because things are so expensive they they cannot afford to purchase them. Which doesn’t mean prices will fall to meet consumer demand, not when that would mean selling the produce for a loss. It means jobs go away, and companies fail.

When will Warmists give up their own use of fossil fuels?

17 State Attorneys Create Coalition To Attack Climate Skeptics

They’ve obviously never read the federal Bill of Rights nor the constitutions of their own states

(CNS News) Seventeen attorney generals from around the United States have formed a coalition “to protect and expand progress the nation has made in combating climate change” in a first of its kind partnership of law enforcement officials.

Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring announced that he would be joining the coalition in a press release Tuesday.

“Attorneys General Eric Schneiderman of New York and William Sorrell of Vermont co-sponsored the meeting, with attorneys general George Jepsen of Connecticut, Brian E. Frosh of Maryland, Maura Healey of Massachusetts, and Claude Walker of the US Virgin Islands in attendance, along with former Vice President and leading climate activist Al Gore, and representatives from a total of 17 state attorneys general offices,” the release says.

“With gridlock and dysfunction gripping Washington on the generation-defining issue of climate change, it is up to the states to lead. We stand ready to defend the next president’s climate change agenda and vow to fight any efforts to roll-back the meaningful progress we’ve made over the past eight years,” said Attorney General Schneiderman. “And our offices will begin working together on important state-level initiatives, such as investigations into whether fossil fuel companies are misleading their investors about how climate change will impact their investments, fossil fuel companies, and our planet.”

Climate Depot’s Marc Morano notes Al Gore’s statement

Climate skeptics are “according to the best available evidence, deceiving the american people, communicating in a fraudulent way – about the reality of the climate crisis and the dangers that it poses to all of us and committing fraud in their comunciations about the viability of renewable energy and efficiency and energy storage.”

“In the opinion of many who have looked at this pattern of misbehavior and what certainly looks like fraud, they are violating the law.”

As a commenter notes, “When it cannot be questioned, it isn’t science… it’s religion. And our democracy is officially dead when we begin to sanction Opinion Police.” And that’s what Warmists are going for: opinion police. We see this throughout the Progressive movement, where they are constantly moving to shut down people having “Wrongthink”, and will often use lawfare to enact their beliefs.

Do you know what would be funny? If the fossil fuels companies formed a coalition and said “fine. We’ll take all our operations out of your states, and move them to the other states. Have fun fueling all the fossil fueled vehicles the attorney generals use. Have fun with your economies. Because, do you think that these AGs will stop at investigating the fossil fueled companies? Or, will they move on to others who express skepticism?

McCrory Spokesman Hits Back At Hypocritical NY Governor Cuomo

As we learned yesterday, NY Governor Cuomo banned non-essential travel to North Carolina for NY State employees. Of course, if he really had gumption, if he was really super upset, he’d ban all travel, because, really, why are state employees taking taxpayer funded trips that are non-essential? A spokesperson for Governor McCrory responded

(WRAL) A spokesman for North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory is criticizing New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo after he banned nonessential publicly funded travel to North Carolina after that state’s Legislature blocked anti-discrimination protections for gay, lesbian and transgender people.

McCrory spokesman Josh Ellis said Tuesday that Cuomo’s move shows “hypocrisy and demagoguery.” He questioned whether the Democrat would ask the Syracuse University basketball team to boycott the upcoming Final Four because it is hosted by Houston, where voters last year defeated a non-discrimination ordinance.

As a private university, Syracuse would not be subject to a state travel ban even if one existed.

Apparently, basketball would be considered “essential travel” in the minds of the WRAL employees, who are obviously on the side of letting gender confused people use the bathrooms of the opposite biological gender.

Ellis also noted that Cuomo last year visited Cuba, a country that he says has a “deplorable” human rights record.

The full press release reads

“Syracuse is playing in the Final Four in Houston where voters overwhelmingly rejected a nearly identical bathroom ordinance that was also rejected by the state of North Carolina,” said Governor McCrory Communications Director Josh Ellis. “Is Governor Cuomo going to ask the Syracuse team to boycott the game in Houston? It’s total hypocrisy and demagoguery if the governor does not, considering he also visited Cuba, a communist country with a deplorable record of human rights violations.”

Obviously, the part about Cuba is the primary focus, not an “also”, as portrayed by WRAL….say, does WRAL allow transgenders to use the opposite bathroom at their privately held company? Cuba is a nation with horrible human rights, yet, Cuomo visited the nation, supposedly to drum up business for NY. So far, that business is nowhere in sight.

Cuba does not allow same sex unions, per their constitution. They have no specific anti-discrimination laws for transgenders or any gays, lesbians, or bisexuals. Yet, Cuomo visited. Hypocrite.

(WNCN) Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin is banning all non-essential state travel to North Carolina in protest of a new state law preventing local governments from expanding protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray has also banned non-essential publicly funded travel to North Carolina in response to its legislation blocking anti-discrimination protections for gay, lesbian and transgender people.

Well, really, again, they shouldn’t be traveling on the public dime for anything other than very essential reasons. And, this is good, since Vermont has a major heroin problem, and has even been called America’s heroin capital. Seattle employees should stay there and work on ways to attract businesses who will hire employees, considering how many jobs have been lost in the wake of their minimum wage increase.

Governor McCroy released a video statement, part of which hits back at Attorney General Roy Cooper (a Democrat, running for governor) for saying he will not defend the law in court

“Some have called our state an embarrassment. The real embarrassment is politicians not publicly respecting each other’s positions on complex issues.

“Unfortunately, that has occurred when legislation was passed to protect men women and children when they use a public restroom, shower or locker-room. That is an expectation of privacy that must be honored and respected.

“Instead, North Carolina has been the target of a vicious, nation-wide smear campaign. Disregarding the facts, other politicians, from the White House to mayors and city council members and yes our Attorney General, have initiated and promoted conflict to advance their political agenda.  Even if it means defying the constitution and their oath of office.

Liberals do not care about privacy for Other People, they need to create a big deal out of tiny issues for political purposes. But, you know what? All these hyper-Leftists can stay in their hyper-leftist areas. We’d appreciate if you’d stop bringing your left wing insanity to our state.

Black Woman Rips White Guy With Dreadlocks

What’s the over/under on this woman being a Democratic Party voter, member of #BlackLivesMatter, and a social justice warrior?

(Daily Caller) A video allegedly showing a woman at San Francisco State University verbally badgering a student for “cultural appropriation” has gone viral after being posted on YouTube Monday evening.

The woman can be heard telling the student, a white male, he can’t wear dreadlocks because “it’s [her] culture” and threatens to cut them off with scissors. The woman is identified in the YouTube as a “campus employee.”

After the student attempts to extricate himself from the woman’s grasp — “you have no right to tell me what I can wear on my head… stop touching me” — she pulls him back and says, “if you put your hands on me, you’re gonna learn.”

The video is at the link, posting this from phone.

Now, how is it possible to appropriate something that has been practiced by numerous cultures going back thousands of years? The ancient Greeks. Old Testament Jews. Early Christians. Aztecs. And others. But, hey, if this crazy lady doesn’t like it, she should stop appropriating white culture, like being at a college. And using scissors. Yup, look up the inventors.

Say, Will Hotcoldwetdry Make You Fat?

And with more taxpayer funded studies we might get the truth as to whether we need more taxpayer funded studies to find more information

Will global warming make you fat?

First it was fats, then it was carbs, but one day we might be blaming climate change for our expanding waistlines. Climate change is already affecting Australia’s ability to reliably produce quality food.

With climate records being broken on a monthly basis, it’s not much of a stretch to imagine our relatively easy access to fresh produce becoming a thing of the past.

So, it’s all based on a feeling of potential doom

We all know what we should be eating to stay healthy: less fat and sugar, more fresh fruit, veggies and lean protein.

Eating sustainably isn’t all that different. Stop eating so many of the cows that burp and fart methane into the atmosphere and try to eat more locally sourced, plant-based produce.

You first, Warmists.

Climate change threatens to make healthy and sustainable eating even harder. And that’s bad for our waistlines and the planet.

Uh huh. Sure thing, Sparky.

While the precise local impacts of climate change around Australia still present some uncertainties, it is looking likely that our suitable agricultural areas will shrink. This potentially will reduce the supply of local fresh produce, wheat and other grains. Further climate research will allow us to understand this better and adapt appropriately.

See? We need to just spend more money on studies! All to deal with all the uncertainties and such.

JV Team Has Plans To Kill Jewish Children

Yet, liberals are worried about bathrooms for gender confused people

(Daily Caller) ISIS is now planning to kill Jewish children in Turkish schools, kindergartens, and youth centers.

Sky News reports it was told by a source, “this is a more than credible threat. This is an active plot.” He added, “in light of these circumstances, extraordinary security measures are being taken above and beyond the high alert level already in place by the Turkish police, as well as vigilance within the Jewish community.”

Last week it was reported that ISIS has trained 400 soldiers to strike Europe in waves.

I’m sure it’s time for another round of “stop blaming Muslims” and “let’s find some Muslims who are concerned about people saying mean things about them” from the media and leftists. Meanwhile, the NY Times has an interesting article about the infiltration of Belgium and Europe long before the Brussels attack

Mr. Hame was sent out by a body inside the Islamic State that was obsessed with striking Europe for at least two years before the deadly assaults in Paris last November and in Brussels this month. In that time, the group dispatched a string of operatives trained in Syria, aiming to carry out small attacks meant to test and stretch Europe’s security apparatus even as the most deadly assaults were in the works, according to court proceedings, interrogation transcripts and records of European wiretaps obtained by The New York Times.

Officials now say the signs of this focused terrorist machine were readable in Europe as far back as early 2014. Yet local authorities repeatedly discounted each successive plot, describing them as isolated or random acts, the connection to the Islamic State either overlooked or played down.

It’s a long, long article about the missed clues and infiltration of Europe by Islamists as part of ISIS, as well as all the attacks, most of them small, often on just one or two people. When you put all the clues and attacks together, one gets the big picture of the “JV team” engaging in a concerted effort to kill Westerners. One has to wonder about attacks here in the United States. How many are linked to ISIS and other Islamic terrorist groups, and what we will see when all those clues and attacks are put together. What of all the “lone wolf” attacks, which the media and liberals explain away as being not linked to Islamists? Will they finally catch a clue, or will they continue defending the Islamists?

Bummer: Mayor DeBlasio, Governor Cuomo, Ban Non-Essential Travel To North Carolina

What a remarkable bit of fiscal responsibility!

(Politico) Mayor Bill de Blasio said Monday he is instituting a ban on “non-essential travel” by New York City employees to the state of North Carolina following the passage of a law there that overturns anti-discrimination protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

De Blasio said he would also order a similar ban on non-essential travel to Georgia if the state’s Legislature votes to override a veto by Gov. Nathan Deal of a bill seen by some as allowing discrimination against gay and lesbian people in Georgia.

“Yes, we’ve initiated a non-essential travel ban for North Carolina as of today, and in the event that the governor’s veto in Georgia is overridden, we will do so for Georgia as well,” de Blasio said Monday afternoon at an unrelated press conference.

“I think it’s quite clear that voices of conscience all over the country are expressing outrage at these decisions which are reinstituting discrimination against the LGBT community,” he said, adding, “My hope is that both these states will relent, but we certainly are not going to have any non-essential travel to those states if these laws do continue in effect.”

Once again, it’s utterly amazing what fires Progressives up. Not ISIS, not a crummy, low wage economy, nor a host of other serious issues. No, it’s bathrooms for people who are confused about their gender (often because Idiots have placed these ideas in their heads).

Of course, NYC actually has no law: their transgender bathrooms rule was put in place by executive fiat, and, as far as I can determine, has never been passed by the NYC government. And, it was put in place very recently. New York State apparently has no bathrooms law. Will de Blasio ban non-essential travel to the rest of New York? How about to the vast majority of cities and states? Why are city employees traveling on the public dime for “non-essential” trips in the first place?

Later Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a statement saying he had signed an executive order banning non-essential state travel to North Carolina. “As long as there is a law in North Carolina that creates the grounds for discrimination against LGBT people, I am barring non-essential state travel to that state,” Cuomo said in the statement.

How about to the vast majority of cities and states in the country? Why are city and state employees traveling on the public dime for “non-essential” trips in the first place? Why has New York not made it the law that confused people can use the bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers of the biological opposite sex?

Meanwhile, Governor McCrory responded to the whining from leftists, explaining his decision to send out a “myths and facts” email

(WRAL) “I’ve got to do it, especially with your editorial pages, which are definitely misleading the public on many items. I’m proud of us protecting the privacy rights of individuals and not putting burdensome regulations on business and letting them make the decision, not government make the decision,” McCrory said when asked about the full-court blitz his administration deployed over the weekend.

In Liberal World, only some people get privacy rights. In this case, they’re pandering to a tiny, tiny number of people who are confused about their gender, wanting them to be able to use whatever bathroom they want, in violation of the privacy of people of the actual gender.

Once again, businesses are legally entitled to allow transgenders to use the bathroom of the sex they identify with. Nothing in the law stops that. It does stop Government from forcing businesses to allow confused gender identity people to use the other sex bathroom. Furthermore, if Liberals do not like this, they are welcome to stay out of our State, and those that are here are welcome to go back to the hell-holes they’ve created in the liberal states and cities they escaped from.

Analysis Shows ‘Climate Change’ Policies Hurt The Poor

Much like almost every Progressive policy. Those that don’t directly hurt the poor tend to keep the poor poor, all under the gentle authoritarian hand og Government

(Daily Caller) European global warming policies are hurting the continent’s poor, according to a Manhattan Institute study published Thursday.

Europe has tried to fight global warming with cap-and-trade schemes and lucrative financial support to green power since 2005. Though well-meaning, the continent’s environmental efforts have only made life harder for Europe’s poor.

“The European Union’s renewable-energy policies have had one very clear result: they’ve dramatically raised electricity prices,” Robert Bryce, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute who authored the study, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Between 2005, when Europe adopted these policies, and 2014, residential electricity rates on the continent increased by 63 percent according to the study. Over the same period, residential rates in the U.S. rose by 32 percent. Germany, Spain and the U.K, which intervened the most in their energy markets, saw their electricity bills rise the fastest, according to the study.

Not that Warmists care, they think they are Saving The Planet, so, Other People must suffer. Of course, the actual policies offered and enacted by the Cult Of Climastrology do not actually make a difference in the planetary temperature.
