Joe Biden Makes History as First President to Pardon His Criminal Son

President Joe Biden spent his final days in office rolling out a full and complete pardon of his criminal son, Hunter Biden.

“I will not pardon him,” Joe Biden said in June after a jury found him guilty on three federal gun charges.

NBC News reported on the pardon:

The decision marks a reversal for the president, who has repeatedly said he would not use his executive authority to pardon his son or commute his sentence. The pardon comes ahead of Hunter Biden’s Dec. 12 sentencing for his conviction on federal gun charges. Hunter Biden also is set to be sentenced in a separate criminal case on Dec. 16, after pleading guilty in September on federal tax evasion charges.

If he wasn’t Joe’s son the IRS would have prosecuted years ago. They might not have found the lying on his gun form, but, he would have been in big trouble for failing to pay taxes. Of course, if he wasn’t Joe’s son involved in the graft he wouldn’t have been making all that money. Joe had to do this quick because sentencing was scheduled for December 12. Interestingly, the pardon is backdated to 2014, even though his crimes were between 2016 and 2019. What happened in 2014? Hunter started working for Burisma in 2014.

But, this opens up a big can of worms: what about other people who committed the same crimes: do they get pardoned? Why do people who committed much less tax fraud get convicted and possibly spend time in jail while Hunter doesn’t?

More importantly, this means that Trump should pardon all the J6 folks, particularly those who never committed any violence.

Al Jazeera Thinks It’s Time To Tax Fossil Fuels And Shipped Goods

Just wondering, isn’t Al Jazeera backed by Qatar, a nation which would be 3rd world without petroleum production and sales? Heck, most of the Middle East nations would be, at best, 2nd world nations without fossil fuel production

It’s time to tax fossil fuels and shipped goods to fund climate resilience

The oil, gas and coal sectors are responsible for about half of current greenhouse gas emissions, and the high-emission products of agriculture, industrial, and manufacturing sectors contribute most of the rest. All are shipped. Almost 90 percent of the $25 trillion of goods transported yearly go by sea.

Ministers will need to take the lead as the shipping industry is unlikely to levy its customers itself. Still, just a 0.2 percent levy on the value of fossil fuels and goods transported with penalties for under-recording and exemptions for goods produced with ultra-low emissions, could raise up to $50bn per year to finance the new Fund for responding to climate-related loss and damage in particularly vulnerable developing countries.

The levy cannot fall heavily on developing countries that contributed so little to global warming. Long has the precedent been set that owners and importers are responsible for the environmental risks of what is being shipped.

International mechanisms exist, and sizeable monies are raised daily – just not yet for climate-related loss and damage. Multilateral development banks should use their new lending headroom to lend more cheaply and longer term to help vulnerable countries build lasting resilience.

However, if vulnerable countries are not to sink under oceans of debt, they also need new international levies to cover loss and damage. What are we waiting for? A category five hurricane in the English Channel?

So, are you fine with more taxes/fees on fossil fuels and shipped products? How about you, Warmists? Whenever a survey asks even Warmists say they do not want to pay more. And most do not want to give up their own use of fossil fuels. And the younger ones sure do not want to give up all those packages they receive to do their stupid TikTok videos and take their Instagram photos. When does Qatar stop taking petroleum out of the ground?

PRC Says They Won’t Help With Deportations

Sounds rather insurrectiony, what with the People’s Republik Of California refusing to follow the Constitution

California will not help Trump’s deportation plans, Alex Padilla says

California Sen. Alex Padilla aims to keep California’s resources out of President-elect Donald Trump’s mass deportation plans, adhering to the constitutional requirement that the federal government control the border, he said Sunday.

“There’s an important distinction here. No state’s government, not Texas, not California, not any state in the nation has a constitutional authority to impose federal immigration law. That is the responsibility of the federal government,” Padilla, a Democrat, told guest host Major Garrett on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

Trump has promised to declare a national emergency and use the military for mass deportations, with backlash to the threat from many Democrats and even some Republicans.

“Let the federal government do the federal government’s job, but have state and local officials do the state and local officials’ job. There doesn’t have to be a conflict unless that’s what Trump wants,” Padilla said.

However, states have the duty to assist in apprehending those unlawfully present in the U.S., especially if they are gang members and criminals, just like if the feds were looking for a kidnapper. And states also have a duty to not interfere in the apprehension of illegal aliens.

California Senate Bill 54, a 2017 law which prohibits state and local law enforcement from using resources to assist in federal immigration enforcement, might bring that conflict. Incoming Trump administration border czar Tom Homan recently warned that local law enforcement who do not cooperate with I.C.E. agents in the process of deportation will be federally prosecuted.

How hard is it to pick up a phone and call ICE? California actually considers that to be “using resources”.

Padilla is not the only California politician to speak up against Trump’s border policies. California State Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas has promised “to ensure that people feel protected and they feel welcomed.” Gov. Gavin Newsom made it clear that California will be leading the resistance to Trump in a myriad of ways, including on immigration.

The Trump admin should send every single person who lawfully declares asylum and passes the initial screening to California, especially the state capitol of Sacramento.

Sorta Blogless Sunday Pinup

Happy Sunday! Another great day in the Once and Future Nation Of America. The Sun is shining, the birds are singing, and December is here. This pinup is by Vaughan Bass, with a wee bit of help.

It’s also fun because I have to do this on my much smaller Chromebook, since my regular laptop saw the WiFi module die. The computer itself has been having issues for about 9 months, mostly something wrong with software, so, ordered a new one last night, have to pick it up this afternoon. Funny, usually it is the hard drive that dies. Not this time. It’s harder to type on the smaller Chromebook, keep hitting the wrong buttons.

SCNY Has Over 58K Criminal Illegals, Including Over 1,000 Gang Members

The first question is why are foreign gang members and criminals allowed in? How many were caught and had the Biden-Harris admin forcing the Border Patrol to release them? Gang members and criminals are not eligible for asylum hearings, and, if they were checked they should have been immediately deported

NYC is now home to over 58K ‘criminal’ migrants — including more than 1,000 gang members: ICE

There are over 58,000 illegal migrants who are convicted felons or facing criminal charges roaming NYC — and close to 670,000 across the country, startling new data obtained by The Post shows.

Of the 759,218 illegal-border crossers living in the Big Apple the feds were aware of as of Nov. 17, a jaw-dropping 58,626 — 7.7% — were either previously convicted of crimes or had criminal charges pending, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency data.

And of the 58,626 migrants with rap sheets, 1,053, nearly 2%, are “suspected or known gang members,” according to the agency.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn) pointed blame for the stunning stats at soft-on-crime and lax border-control policies pushed by President Biden and other Democrats.

“It’s shocking that Democrats have gone so far out of their way to harbor gang members, drug traffickers and other criminals who are in our country illegally,” said Malliotakis, the lone Republican representing the left-leaning Big Apple.

And guess who gets to pay for them? The American taxpayer, and, in the case of Sanctuary City New York, the mostly Democrat voters. Are you happy, New Yorkers? Do you find this a good use of your high tax rate dollars? Do you enjoy the crime? And the city is shielding the criminal illegals from federal law enforcement. They refuse to allow the immigration status of anyone caught committing crime to be checked. They will release them if they happen to learn they are not a US citizen before ICE can come get them, free to roam and commit more crime.

Report: Trump Admin To Give Sheriff’s More Power To Enforce Federal Immigration Laws

Well, this could get really interesting, especially when leftist states try and stop their law enforcement from performing the law

Trump plans to give local sheriffs more power to act as immigration agents amid mass deportation crackdown

President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration is weighing giving local sheriffs more powers to help boot illegal migrants from the US by expanding a federal program to allow them to act as immigration agents.

As part of his mass migrant deportation crackdown, Trump’s team is aiming to expand the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s 287(g) program so deputies can question and detain suspected illegals during their routine duties, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the plan.

Currently, 287(g) — which was added to the Immigration and Nationality Act in 1996 under President Bill Clinton — permits ICE to collaborate with state and local law enforcement to identify and deport “incarcerated criminal noncitizens.”

The program, which is voluntary, essentially allows participating local agencies to alert ICE of an illegal migrant in their custody or hold the migrant in jail for immigration authorities — but only after the alleged perps have been arrested on separate criminal charges.

The Trump administration’s reported expansion, however, would revive a task force model, which had previously allowed deputies and officers to make immigration stops and arrests.

I would assume that this will also be extended to local law enforcement in some fashion. They and sheriffs will have greater knowledge of people in their community, and know which ones to target, especially the troublemakers who may not have been arrested (yet). Will local and sheriffs do this in sanctuary jurisdictions which forbid this? Will they claim that federal law supersedes local/state law on this?

Jonathan Thompson, the executive director of the nonpartisan National Sheriffs’ Association, told The Post that sheriffs across the country are willing to provide the support to the incoming Trump administration.

However, it  will not be done “overnight,” he said, adding that sheriffs will need federal funding to implement the initiative.

“It has to be much more realistic as to what it takes to house these individuals, feed and clothe them, take care of their health care. There’s a lot of money at stake here. We’re going to be very vocal with the president and with Congress to say if you’re doing this, you’re going to have to pay for it,” Thompson said.

It should also be fun when Democrats vote against providing funding for this. Even as criminals and gang members cause problems in Democratic run sanctuary cities.

An executive order signed by former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2017 designated New York as a “sanctuary state,” which limits state law enforcement’s cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

However, the executive order only applies to state law enforcement officers or employees — meaning that in counties that don’t pass their own sanctuary policies, a sheriff’s office can choose to cooperate with ICE.

In 2018, a New York state appeals court ruled that it is illegal for local law enforcement to hold a person in jail beyond their release date to wait for ICE to take them into custody, but there is nothing stopping police or a sheriff’s office from notifying ICE about an arrest, The Intercept explained.

Well, I guess that’s why the focus is on sheriffs, not local. But, how many sheriffs are in more urbanized counties, especially in the Northeast?

International Court Of Justice To Hear Climate (scam) Hearing On Monday

5 Facts To Know About The International Court’s Climate Change Hearings

On Monday, December 2, the International Court of Justice will begin hearings on an Advisory Opinion relating to the Obligations of States in respect of Climate Change. Over 100 countries and organizations will present in 30-minute increments over two weeks. At the request of the United Nations General Assembly, the ICJ will determine the existing financial liability of countries for their contribution to climate change and what actions countries must take to prevent climate change.

Here are five key facts to know going into the hearings.

The International Court of Justice was established in 1945 through the UN Charter to handle legal disputes between nations. Known as the World Court, it is an outlet for countries to settle civil disputes through a neutral court….

Um, so, what does this scam suit have to do with resolving disputes between countries?

Why is the Court looking at climate change?
In addition to handling disputes between countries, the ICJ can also issue advisory opinions at the request of the UN General Assembly. Advisory opinions analyze legal questions and give guidance for how the Court interprets the existing law. It is a tool to understand how the Court might handle a similar issue in the future. Advisory opinions do carry extra weight, but they are not binding.

Scam

The UNGA posed to questions to the ICJ:

“What are the obligations of States under international law to ensure the protection of the climate system and other parts of the environment from anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases for States and for present and future generations”?

“What are the legal consequences under these obligations for States where they, by their acts and omissions, have caused significant harm to the climate system and other parts of the environment, with respect to: (i) States, including, in particular, small island developing States, which due to their geographical circumstances and level of development, are injured or specially affected by or are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change? (ii) Peoples and individuals of the present and future generations affected by the adverse effects of climate change?”

Whatever those obligations are, that’s based on each individual nation, not some unhinged court which is also anti-Semitic.

This indicates the ICJ is looking beyond the black letter language of the law and exploring outside considerations. If the Court follows this path, it may find that climate change is a human right. Depending on where they find the language, it may trigger protections under the ICC as well as civil liability.

And that is surely what they will rule. And then they’ll all take fossil fueled travel.
