One would think that uber-Warmist Vermont, with all their belief in ‘climate change’ and sustainability and all the other buzz-words surrounding the topic would be going gung-ho, especially when they have been yammering about going 100% renewable in the near future. But, apparently, the cold dead mackerel of reality has smacked them in the face
Vermont Moves To Put Noise Rule On Wind Industry
Vermont regulators filed a rule Tuesday limiting how loud wind turbines can be when they generate power, angering the wind industry and green energy advocates.
The Vermont Public Service Board proposed a 42-decibel sound limit for wind turbines operating during the day, which would drop to 39 decibels at night. The rule would lower the state’s current 45-decibels per hour limit, which is quieter than a normal conversation, and would also require large wind turbine projects to keep a distance of ten times their heights from nearby homes.
Obviously, this has made Big Wind unhappy
“This rule will make most, if not all, large wind projects unworkable in Vermont, taking this critical clean-energy resource off the table,†the Vermont Public Interest Research Group, a lobbying group that supports the wind industry, told the Associated Press.
If the rule is approved, wind energy supporters claim that Vermont won’t meet its goal of getting 90 percent of its electricity from green sources by 2050.
Interestingly, actual environmental groups support the rule, and even want it to be tougher. This is a case where the negatives from wind power – the noise, the “flickering”, the reduction in property values, the blight on the landscape, leaving giant concrete pads in the wilderness, etc – meet with the pish

If you deport all the illegals, there might not be enough around to clean toilets, pick fruits and veggies, and clean liberal houses. This has upset the editorial board of the Raleigh News and Observer
Spike in immigration arrests are arresting the economy
The Trump administration is arresting more people who are in the United States illegally, and that crackdown appears to be stemming the flow of immigrants entering illegally across the southern border. With the rising arrests President Trump is fulfilling a campaign promise, but he may also be undercutting his ability to fulfill his other pledge to increase the annual growth of the economy from 2 percent to 3 percent or more.
The arrests of immigrants here illegally have risen by nearly 40 percent in the first 100 days of President Donald Trump’s term as compared to the same period in 2016, according to the office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The uptick comes in the wake of an executive order signed by Trump increasing border security. While the Trump administration says it’s focusing on removing criminals, only 2,700 of the 41,300 arrested had been convicted of violent crimes.
What they forget to say in focusing on “violent crimes” is that most of the rest have been convicted of actual crimes, from low level ones like DUI to serious ones like identity theft and burglary. This has give the NOEB a Sad, so, they find their latest Excuse to support those who are unlawfully present
The crackdown is happening as the nation’s businesses are having difficulty finding employees. The national unemployment rate is at 4.4 percent, awfully close to full employment. Meanwhile, 10,000 baby boomers are turning 65 every day.
As Trump sends people back across the border and discourages others from coming to the United States, he is aggravating the biggest obstacle to economic growth, a labor shortage. Unauthorized immigrants make up about 5 percent of the U.S. civilian workforce, according to Pew Research Center estimates, and reducing that number – about 8 million workers – will drive up costs for produce and construction. Immigrants working illegally in this country have accounted for nearly half of the nation’s 800,000 crop farm workers in recent years.
It will supposedly cause a problem in the construction industry, where there’s a labor shortage. Then they jump to
Labor needs can’t be an excuse for employers not to follow immigration laws that call for verifying a worker’s immigration status, though that has been a common practice.
They should have just stopped there, because unlawful conduct is still unlawful conduct. But, they continue the paragraph
And in theory, fewer immigrant workers should drive up the pay of American workers. But the actual situation is that the economy needs the boost provided by workers here illegally and American workers are not stepping in to fill the labor gap as immigrant workers are pushed out of the economy.
Why would so many employers hire U.S. citizens when they can underpay illegals? And, yes, there is a big dearth in skills for doing lots of these jobs, because everyone has to get a degree from a college nowadays, one which is often worthless for just about any job. It is still no excuse to tolerate people being unlawfully present in the country.
The NOEB briefly discusses expanding work visas, but, they find those lead to workers being “effectively shackled to the employer who sponsors them and vulnerable to abuses in pay and work conditions and sexual assaults.” And that doesn’t happen to illegals? People who can’t complain? What they really want is “comprehensive immigration reform”, otherwise known as amnesty. Easy citizenship for people who broke our laws and didn’t earn citizenship. People who often do not learn the language yet demand that we give them the ability to vote, healthcare, housing, education, food, and money.
Democrats will trot out any excuse to create a big new segment of the population that is beholden to the government and will vote Democrat. That’s what this is all about.

Lots of anonymous sources, but, could this be something? And, if it is, why so little Credentialed Media coverage?
(Daily Caller)  U.S. intelligence overheard a Russian operative brag about targeting Hillary Clinton in the upcoming 2016 presidential election as payback for an “influence campaign†the former secretary of state ran against Vladimir Putin five years earlier.
Senior intelligence officials told Time that a Russian military intelligence officer with GRU said his group “was going to cause chaos in the upcoming U.S. election†to “pay Clinton back for what President Vladimir Putin believed was an influence operation she had run against him†during Russian elections.
There’s no doubt that Russia attempted to interfere with our elections. Heck, we’ve done it to them. The U.S. has done it to other countries. Whatever your opinion of Mr. Obama, he is a former two term POTUS, and he just interfered with the French elections, and attempted interference during Brexit. Such is world statecraft.
But, this puts a different spin on this whole thing. If any other Republican had been running, Putin would still probably have gone after Hillary. And, had she won, it is easy to ponder that Putin would have caused more havoc, as Russia probably has lots of her hacked emails.

According to Excitable Sarah Frostenson, Florida is at risk of Extreme Sea Rise!!!!!!!!!! so Trump should totally care about anthropogenic climate change because
Trump doesn’t believe in climate change, but it’s going to drown Mar-a-Lago
President Donald Trump has called climate change a “hoax†and a very expensive “tax†on American businesses that make the US less competitive. He has threatened to withdraw the US from the Paris climate accord, in which countries around the world pledged to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to keep temperatures from rising past the critical 2°C mark.
And yet climate change is already imperiling Mar-a-Lago, the crown jewel of Trump’s extensive real estate portfolio and his preferred location for carrying out many of his official presidential duties. Rising sea levels are causing more frequent and more damaging tidal floods on the Florida coast, and projections suggest that the risk to lives and property from climate change-related flooding events is only going to increase dramatically in the coming years.
There’s even a scary graphic!

The National and Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has put out a variety of different estimates of rising sea levels in Southern Florida. The more conservative finding suggests that they could jump anywhere from 3 feet by 2050 to 7 feet by 2100.
But in January, the agency put out new “extreme†sea level projections — its doomsday scenario, in other words. In this scenario, we’d see a 10- to 12-foot rise in sea level in the US by 2100, which would have dramatic consequences for places like Mar-a-Lago, as you can see in the photo above.
The article even says there is an acceleration of sea rise (there isn’t). The one thing it doesn’t discuss is what the sea rise has been, or note where any data is. One would think that, with all the doomy prognostications, someone would be actually capturing hard field data on the sea rise in Florida, especially southern Florida. The Miami Beach monitoring station hasn’t been active since 1981 (data starts in 1931, and shows just .78 feet over 100 years). The closest working station shows 1.19 feet over 100 years, closer to what one would expect during any low level Holocene warm period. The next closest Atlantic station with long term current data is in Mayport, showing .85 feet over 100 years.
Fernadina Beach is .69. Key West is .79. You see similar numbers as you move to the Gulf Coast of Florida. It’s not doom, it’s normal to below average sea rise for a warm period.

A week ago we discussed Crazy Maxine Waters, who’s constantly out and about doing her impeach Trump schtick, admitting she’s seen zero evidence of collusion vis a vis Russia and Trump. Well, she was on friendly ground, and forced to admit it again
(Daily Caller) One of President Trump’s harshest congressional critics acknowledged on Thursday that she has yet to see evidence of collusion between Trumpworld and the Russian government.
In an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,†California Rep. Maxine Waters went through her usual schtick of calling for Trump’s impeachment. She made vague allegations of cooperation between the Trump campaign and Kremlin “in developing strategy about how they could ensure that Hillary Clinton was not elected.â€
“I am talking about strategies that were developed, working with the Trump campaign. I really do believe that much of what you saw coming out of Trump’s mouth was a play from Putin’s playbook,†Waters said.
But after a two-minute diatribe, the Democrat was forced to acknowledge that she has yet to actually see evidence of collusion.
“But just to be clear, there has been no actual evidence yet?†Huffington Post editor Sam Stein asked Waters.
“No, it has not been,†Waters responded. “No it has not. And I want you to know every time I’ve talked about impeachment I’ve said we’ve got to connect the dots, we’ve got to get the facts, we’ve got to do the investigation. That is what leads to impeachment, and I’ve also said that Trump will lead us right there.â€
So, when Mr. Trump is talking about this being a witch hunt, it may sound like whining, but, he’s correct.
This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 18, 2017
When he says there’s no collusion, he’s right. So far, Democrats have offered zero evidence, just some vague allegations. But, Liberals love their conspiracy theories. After 9/11, the majority of Truthers were left leaners. Remember, 42% of Democrats thought Bush made 9/11 happen or let it happen. Another poll showed that over half of Democrats believe Bush was complicit in the 9/11 attacks. Democrats love their Derangement Syndromes, and love going on fishing expeditions.

This is excellent news. However, this does not answer the question of how many have actually been deported
(Fox News) Making good on a promise to overturn Obama-era immigration policies, Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests increased 38 percent during the first three months of the Trump administration.
”These statistics reflect President Trump’s commitment to enforce our immigration laws fairly and across the board,” said ICE Acting Director Thomas Homan.
The increase reflects arrests made not at the border, but in U.S. cities, so called ‘interior enforcement,†something critics say almost disappeared in the last year of the Obama Administration.
The stats break down as
That last one will send supporters of those who are unlawfully present into Level 10 Moonbattery, as they are super happy that people are breaking our federal immigration laws, and want to turn those people into Democratic Party voters.
This all goes hand in hand with a big drop in border crossings. The media will tend to trot out stories about illegal aliens living in fear to go with the ones on the arrests, which helps reduce the number who think it’s a great idea to illegally enter the United States.

Who’s surprised? Anyone? There’s virtually nothing involved having to do with the climate nor the environment. This whole thing boils down to Control, Bigger Government, and money, and the money almost always involves Other People’s money, rarely money from the people who push this, sign agreements and bills and such
U.N.’s Global Warming Fraudsters Are More Interested In Climate Cash Than Climate Change
Climate Deceit: Just when you think the climate change lunacy couldn’t get any worse, the U.N.’s climate-crats up the ante. Meeting in Bonn, Germany, for yet another unneeded climate conference, attendees are now demanding $300 billion a year more to help less-developed nations cope with anticipated climatic warming. Are they kidding?
By the way, that $300 billion is in addition to the $100 billion that the world’s governments have already promised to deliver under the Paris Climate Agreement. So now they’re asking for a total of $400 billion a year in climate welfare for the developing world. No sane government would sign on to such a scam. Which of course means that most of them probably will.
There’s really no end to this insanity. To make it worse, the proposal before the Bonn climate talks calls for the added taxpayer-funded cash to be doled out not by the governments themselves, or even the U.N. No, the money will be channeled through existing nongovernmental organizations, or NGOs.
In other words, left-wing green groups around the world will become the conduits for billions of dollars in money handed out to ethically challenged, nondemocratic governments. Think there might be a tiny temptation for corruption there?
Of course, all the “green” groups will need to hire tons more staff, and then there’s the overhead, bonuses, travel, administration, and so forth. Plus, just pocketing a bunch. Because, we all know that the United Nations does such a great job making sure the money nations give to them is tracked, am I right?
And yet, as climate skeptic and statistician Bjorn Lomborg has noted, even if you take the models seriously and if every nation on earth lived up to its commitments to slash output of CO2 and all other greenhouse gases by 2030, the net reduction in predicted temperature would be just 0.048 degrees Celsius — about 1/20th of a degree. That is a rounding error. Nothing, really.
But, except to the most ardent, loopy Warmists, that’s immaterial, because it’s the cash and power that counts.
