The Washington Post Is Having A Problem Understanding What “Our Values” Are

Mr. Trump apparently said something pretty darned controversial while speaking in Poland Thursday. He talked about “our values” and “Western values”. This has led many on the left to have conniption fits, including the Editorial Board of the Washington Post

Trump wants us to defend ‘our values.’ Which ones?

“DO WE have the confidence in our values to defend them at any cost?” President Trump asked during his speech in Warsaw on Thursday. That’s an important question, and so is this: Which values is he summoning us to defend?

There were encouraging elements in his address suggesting that he was referring to the universal values that America celebrated earlier this week, on the anniversary of its declaration of independence.

Would that be the Independence Day celebration, which saw liberals out in the streets with their same old complaints about wanting more and more Big Government controlling more and more of their lives?

Yet elements of his address left doubt as to whether Mr. Trump views such values as truly universal. “The fundamental question of our time is whether the West has the will to survive,” he said. If by “the West” he means anyone embracing the values of human rights, freedom and the dignity of every individual, he may be right. But those are hardly the property of the United States and Europe. They are treasured by the ailing Liu Xiaobo in China, by bloggers fighting for freedom in Ugandaand by legislators fighting off the Maduro regime’s thugs in Venezuela. They belong to people of all colors, all sexual orientations and all — or no — religion. When Mr. Trump urges “us all to fight like the Poles, for family, for freedom, for country and for God,” does “all” truly mean “all”?

Had it been Mr. Obama making the statement (which he never did, but, he did bash the United States multiple times while overseas), the WPEB would be squeeing like a schoolgirl seeing New Direction live in concert.

Perhaps what gives the most doubt is that he celebrated “the right to free speech and free expression” without mentioning that the government welcoming him has worked worryingly to narrow those freedoms (WT – pretty weak sauce in that article), along with the independence of its judiciary — and without mentioning that, at home, Mr. Trump himself has been far from a tribune of the free press. “Above all,” he said, “we value the dignity of every human life, protect the rights of every person and share the hope of every soul to live in freedom.” Many people will cheer those words — and will watch to see how his administration lives up to them in its interactions with Saudi Arabia and China, Russia and Egypt, and at home.

Well, at least he’s talking about them. Mr. Obama yammered on about embracing the values of 3rd world nations, which love things like Sharia law, killing the infidel, honor killings, slavery, systemic rape gangs, women as 2nd class citizens, and so much more.

Has Mr. Trump stopped the free press? Has he spied on them, blackballed them, sicced the FBI on them. Not too mention spying on lawmakers (including ones in his own party) and candidates for office.

No need to get beyond the headline, you can guess where this bit of typical Leftist race mongering (by a White elitist with all the correct schools and connections) and anti-Christian sentiment goes.

Vox had their own requisite freakout, as did the New York Magazine and Raw Story. It’s going to be a long four years for the moonbats.

Army Tells Female Members They Must Accept Naked Gender Confused Males In Showers

It’s high time that the United States military stop being a testing ground of the social justice warrior crowd

(Christian Post) The U.S. Army is instructing its female soldiers to “accept” having men in their showers and changing areas who are “transitioning” but still have their male genitalia, according to training documents that have been released. (snip)

On Wednesday, James Hasson, a former Army captain, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan and law student at University of Virginia, wrote in a piece published by The Federalist that he has obtained a “Tier Three Transgender Training” PowerPoint and accompanying lesson plan being used by the Army in mandatory transgender training sessions.

“The active-duty officer who sent the materials completed the training with 40 other soldiers last week instead of conducting their morning physical training as usual,” Hasson wrote. “The force-wide presentation sheds quite a bit of light on the implications of the rule change on transgender service members. The policy prioritizes subjective feelings over combat-readiness and inverts military order by placing the needs of individuals over the well-being of their units.”

All that’s necessary to change “gender” is a bit of paperwork, to go along with the mental insanity. No actual sex change is required

A PowerPoint slide titled “Vignette Four” outlines what types of changes soldiers can expect to see in “barracks, bathrooms and showers.”

“Following her transition from male to female (which did not include sex reassignment surgery) and gender marker change in DEERS, a transgender soldier begins using female barracks, bathroom and shower facilities,” the slide reads. “Because she did not undergo a surgical change, the Soldier still has male genitalia.”

“All soldiers must use the barracks, bathroom and shower facilities associated with their gender marker in DEERS,” the slide added. “Understand that you may encounter individuals in barracks, bathrooms and shower facilities with physical characteristics of the opposite sex despite having the same gender marker in DEERS.”

In other words, female soldiers must suck it up and have the gender confused in their showers, locker rooms, changing rooms, and baracks. And if they do not like it, they can resign or receive a courts martial.

Study: Temperature Adjustments Account For Nearly All Of The Warming

When the real world data doesn’t fit the models and hypothesis, what to do? Change the data

(Daily Caller) A new study found adjustments made to global surface temperature readings by scientists in recent years “are totally inconsistent with published and credible U.S. and other temperature data.”

“Thus, it is impossible to conclude from the three published GAST data sets that recent years have been the warmest ever – despite current claims of record setting warming,” according to a study published June 27 by two scientists and a veteran statistician.

The peer-reviewed study tried to validate current surface temperature datasets managed by NASA, NOAA and the UK’s Met Office, all of which make adjustments to raw thermometer readings. Skeptics of man-made global warming have criticized the adjustments.

Climate scientists often apply adjustments to surface temperature thermometers to account for “biases” in the data. The new study doesn’t question the adjustments themselves but notes nearly all of them increase the warming trend.

This is exactly what Skeptics have been noting for a long time. They keep adjusting the temperatures, and tend to cool the past and warm the current, in order to make it appear as if it is warmer than it actually is.

Their study found measurements “nearly always exhibited a steeper warming linear trend over its entire history,” which was “nearly always accomplished by systematically removing the previously existing cyclical temperature pattern.”

“The conclusive findings of this research are that the three [global average surface temperature] data sets are not a valid representation of reality,” the study found. “In fact, the magnitude of their historical data adjustments, that removed their cyclical temperature patterns, are totally inconsistent with published and credible U.S. and other temperature data.”

Get This: Trump’s Immigration Policies On Illegals Are Working

Who would have thought that if one talks tough on immigration, suggests tough immigration policy, enacts tough immigration policy, and enforces the law on immigration, illegal immigration goes down

(Washington Times) President Donald Trump’s immigration policies – even those not yet fully in effect – are already a huge success. How do we know? Well, for one thing, The New York Times is crediting Mr. Trump’s policies with having had a swift and significant effect on curbing illegal immigration. And, although we don’t often have cause to say this, in this instance, The NYTimes is absolutely correct.

In a full-length piece in Monday’s print edition, reporter Kirk Semple (note: The WT forgets to cite the article, which is here) makes the persuasive case that President Trump’s get-tough approach to immigration policy has played a significant role in the decrease of illegal immigration into the United States. From the article: “From February through May [of this year], the number of undocumented immigrants stopped or caught along the southwest border of the United States fell 60 percent from the same period last year, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection – evidence that far fewer migrants are heading north, officials on both sides of the border say.”

Mr. Semple argues that would-be illegal immigrants are no longer making the trek to the United States because the risk that they will be deported is too great. In other words, the chances that the United States will actually enforce its immigration laws are a far greater probability in the Trump era than in the previous administration’s era of immigration lawlessness.

The NYTimes piece displays two of the paper’s chief defining characteristics – East Coast elitism that is willfully out of touch with Real America, coupled with a patronizing insistence that our nation’s immigration laws are not only un-enforceable, but they are also borderline inhuman. It is precisely this worldview The NYTimes possesses that is so utterly at odds with the worldview of the vast majority Americans. And it is this exact reason that The NYTimes elites were so caught off guard by Mr. Trump’s surprising win.

As far as the win goes, Politico is noting that Trump is winning on immigration after winning the election

Trump Is Winning the Immigration Debate

With his penchant for tweeted insults and GIFs, Donald Trump will never be mistaken for a master of the sweet art of persuasion. Yet he is clearly winning the public argument on the issue of immigration.

He isn’t doing it through sustained, careful attention. He tweeted the other day that the media will eventually have to cover his success at the border, even though he himself has devoted more energy to his war with CNN than promoting the reduction in illegal border crossings.

No, it is the sheer fact of his November victory, and the data showing the importance of the issue of immigration to it, that has begun to shift the intellectual climate.

It had been assumed, even by many Republicans like Sen. John McCain, that opposition to amnesty and higher levels of legal immigration would doom the GOP to minority status forevermore. Trump blew up this conventional wisdom.

Now, intellectuals on the center-left are calling for Democrats to rethink the party’s orthodoxy on immigration, which has become more and more hostile to enforcement and to any skepticism about current high levels of immigration.

One of the reasons Trump is winning the debate is because he doesn’t back down like so many Republicans. He isn’t getting squishy. And, despite Credentialed Media rhetoric, he isn’t absolutist. He has been willing to make accommodations, especially among the recipients of Obama’s deferred action, the DACA. He knows that it all starts with enforcement of the law and in reducing the flow of illegals to the U.S. Instead of using talking points that essentially encourage people to come to the U.S. unlawfully, the rhetoric from Trump and his people is meant to discourage it.

And it’s working. Illegal immigration is way down, while detentions and deportations are going up. People are self-deporting. This is shocking to the illegal aliens supporters, mostly made up of Democrats and a few squishy Republicans. They’ll continue to be shocked.

Having Lost Election After Election, Democrats Give New Slogans A Whirl

This is cute. During Obama’s presidency, the Democrats lost 1,042 seats at the state and federal levels, which includes legislative seats and governorships, and the the presidency. Since the election of Donald Trump (note to Dems: he won the only election count that matters per our Constitution), Dems haven’t done much better in special elections. So, what to do? New slogans!

Dems try new slogan: ‘Have you seen the other guys?’

The campaign arm for House Democrats on Wednesday tried out a new slogan: “I mean, have you seen the other guys?”

The sticker slogan, one of several floated as part of a fundraising effort by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), caused a stir on social media, where many wondered why the party would try out such a self-deprecating campaign line.

“Not exactly the most inspiring slogan, @dccc,” wrote ProPublica reporter Derek Willis.

“Dems are asking people to vote on a new sticker and I’m not sure anyone in history has been as bad as this,” tweeted Adam Serwer, a senior editor for The Atlantic.

Of course, in all fairness, if the GOP doesn’t get a real Obamacare repeal and replacement done, not that garbage the House and Senate have been peddling, you could see Congress flip fully by the end of Trump’s first term.

Slim Majority Of Canadians Fret About Carbon Tax In Trump Era: Poll
It suggests the idea was more popular in theory than reality.

More than half of Canadians want the federal government to halt plans for a national carbon tax if it means it places this country in a competitive disadvantage with the United States, a new poll suggests.

The numbers released by the Angus Reid Institute Wednesday also indicate that federal carbon pricing is more popular in theory than reality.

When the Angus Reid Institute explored this issue in the spring of 2015, the conversation around carbon pricing was hypothetical, and support for emission reduction policies appeared high. Indeed, more than half of Canadians said the federal government wasn’t paying enough attention to climate change, and most said they’d be supportive if it implemented a carbon tax. This was the case again in November that same year, shortly after Canadians elected the Trudeau Liberals, who had campaigned on a promise to pursue such a plan.

Cut to 2017.

Now that the federal government has formalized arrangements to impose a carbon tax in provinces that haven’t already put a price on carbon emissions, beginning in 2018, the impending reality of the program is beginning to kick in. At the $50 per tonne target the federal government has set for 2022, gasoline would cost roughly 11 cents more per litre. Canadians, in turn, are singing a different tune. Support has dropped to 44 per cent nationwide:

Once people realize that they will be the ones paying for all this type of claptrap, they start to be less enthused. Surprise?

‘Climate Change” Doomed Kiribati Strangely Grows Almost 33%

IT’S A CLIMATE CHANGE MIRACLE

“Kiribati will soon be engulfed by water, and its people have nowhere to go,” Bloomberg’s Jeffrey Goldberg predicted in 2013.

“The Paris climate deal may be too little, too late for the islanders of Kiribati,” Time magazine worried in 2015.

“Climate change is threatening the livelihoods of the people of tiny Kiribati, and even the island nation’s existence,” the New York Times wept in 2016. “The government is making plans for the island’s demise.”

They may wish to put those plans on hold, because Kiribati is now bigger than ever:

Low-lying Pacific islands regarded as “poster child” examples of the threat from rising sea levels are expanding not sinking, a new study has revealed.

Scientists have been surprised by the findings, which show that some islands have grown by almost one-third over the past 60 years.

Among the island chains to have increased in land area are Tuvalu and neighbouring Kiribati, both of which attracted attention at last year’s Copenhagen climate summit …

I’m sure the Cult of Climastrology will manufacture a talking point for this, if they don’t simply just ignore it altogether.

“Eighty per cent of the islands we’ve looked at have either remained about the same or, in fact, got larger.

“Some have got dramatically larger,” he said.

This whole thing has little to do with science, and everything to do with politics, one those things being the redistribution of 1st World money.

Sanctuary Cities Say They’ll Create One Million New Citizens In A Year

On one hand, the media keeps telling us that there really isn’t any such thing as a sanctuary city. In the next, sanctuary cities tell us they’re real

(Washington Examiner) Twenty-one mostly “sanctuary cities” are pledging to make 1 million immigrants U.S. citizens this year.

The “Naturalize NOW!” campaign, which includes liberal and progressive groups and elected officials, heralded the mayors of the cities in joining the national effort.

Among the cities cited in an Independence Day notice from Mi Familia: Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Cleveland, OH; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Dayton, OH; Jersey City, NJ; Knoxville, TN; Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; Miami-Dade County, FL; Montgomery County, MD; Paterson, NJ; Pittsburgh, PA; New York City, NY; Salt Lake County, UT; San Francisco, CA; Seattle; South Gate, CA & Tucson, AZ.

Many are sanctuary cities and counties.

“We celebrate our independence on July 4, and honor the values of freedom, justice, unity, and equality that make us who we are,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. “Los Angeles joined the Naturalize NOW campaign because those principles are still worth fighting for — and to encourage eligible Angelenos and people across the country to seek a path toward citizenship and join the American family.”

According to Naturalize Now!, more immigrants than ever have applied for U.S. citizenship, a spike coming at a time when the Trump administration is warning all illegal immigrants about deportation.

There are a few problems here. First, cities and states do not have the power to naturalize anyone. That is a function of the federal government.

Second, it is illegal to lie on a federal application for citizenship form. And it is illegal to be in the United States without authorization. And illegal aliens are not eligible for citizenship. Hence, the only way they could go through the process is to lie.

And if these mostly Democrats, with a smattering of squishy Republicans, attempt to help an illegal alien get citizenship falsely, they will have violated, at a miminum, 8 U.S. Code 1324, a federal violation.

As Tim Thomas wrote in the article comments

Citizenship used to be a sought after prize of joining a country the person respected, admired and loved, but now it is being pushed on people to sign up for so they can vote for democrats in the next election; pathetic.
